BEST Reptiles for Small Tanks | 20 gallons or less

- Опубліковано 1 сер 2024
- Good Morning, Reptilians! This week we're doing a video that has been requested a lot over the years... I've just failed to make it 😅
until now
We're talking all about reptiles that can live in small spaces. These are great if you only have a limited space to house an animal, or if you have an extra 10 gallon or 20 gallon tank laying around. I also tried to add reptiles on this list that we haven't talked about before. So there's that.
Happy Father's Day! ♥️

#BestReptiles #10GallonTank #20GallonTank
Clever girl, you sure baited with the Ball Python photo. You know so many keepers are ready to dive in and try to protect those snakes! But then you're like BA HA HA HA HA NO!
Video idea: How old are each of your reptiles and how long have you had each one?
Thank you, Elle! Yet another wonderful video!
Thank you so much! 🥰
I cannot recommend the rosy boas enough, my little boy is so sweet!
Good Sunday morning Elle, hope it's an amazing day for you!!! Another great and helpful video for people new to Reptiles.
Thank you! And I hope you have a wonderful day as well! Not sure if you have human kids or animal kids, but if so, happy father's day! 😊
@@ellesreptiles you always make such great videos.
I have 3 green anoles and a long tailed grass lizard in a 40 gallon tank and they do great together. They are also very easy to care for. I have them in a bio active tank, they love it. I’m going to put a couple more in the tank as soon as my pet shop has them in. I know these are usually feeder lizards, but I just love them. They could be on the list, the don’t need much.
Hi Elle! I've missed seeing your vid's even though I'm subbed and hit my bell notifications so I just think it's strange but fortunately I found you again! :)
Happy Father's day to all the father's out there. Great video and some beautiful reptiles for 20 gallon tanks.
Thank you for the great information for those that do not have a lot of room they have hope now.
Have a great Sunday and Father's Day
GOD BLESS 😊💖🦎🐍🐢🕷
Thank you! 🥰
Love the video as always and Sterling is so pretty!
Thank you so much! 😊
THIS HELPED SO MUCH
Awesome 😁
Thank you Elle. My 11 year old daughter and I love your videos. We have a 1 year old corn snake named Luci, she's currently comfortable in her 20 gal tank, but we will eventually upgrade her to a 40 or 55 gal, depending on how big she gets. We're watching your channel to pick a new reptile to take Luci's tank in the future.
When the snake is full grown get a 4x2x2!
Try out a 67 gallon (48*18*18) enclosure, amazing size for a corn snake
Great video! My 8 year old son recently told me he thinks reptiles are cute (and I agree!) but every time I looked into getting something I was met with massive setup requirements. I’m not one to cheat those requirements so I never got anything. But came across this video and thought it’s perfect! Thanks so much for keeping it real!
I want the small geckos but I wonder how expensive they will be
I have 2 ribbon snakes in a 20 gallon aquarium. They seem like they are comfortable.
Thank you for another great video. I may just have to get a Rosie boa. 😁
I'm glad it helped! 😊
Highly recommend pictus geckos! I just got a tiny baby and WOW
HI! This question doesn't have much to do with the video, but I've been researching heating elements for reptiles and I can't figure out if it is a MUST to use a dimmer switch with a heat lamp as it is to have a thermostat with heat mats. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
My Leo is the exception to the good temperament. She doesn’t run when im in the room or anything and she has everything she needs but she’ll wag her tail everytime I open her enclosure and she bites lol
I got my pictus geckos from supreme gecko and they are doing Awsome. Amazing breeder!
That's awesome! They're great to work with 🥰
You could put emerald swifts on the list.
Such a beautiful lizard! 😍
I wanted to get a rosy boa but im not sure were to order from
Can I put my Leo in a 90 gal?
How much are most of these geckos gonna cost
Warning about mourning gecko:
You will not have just 3
Where are you from? I absolutely love your voice!!
She lives in Alabama as far as I know
Yep! Alabama
@@ellesreptiles ahh me too! That's awesome 😊
Hi Elle, this might be a dumb question but I am getting a leopard gecko and when I do research some people say that it is ok for leopard geckos to cohab and some people say it is not. I was wondering if you have any thoughts?
Depends on their temperament I think? , I'd avoid it unless your gecko is just super docile and friendly with other geckos. Maybe try some trial runs for a few hours at a time? Idk, I am no expert at all and open to learn more!
@@shaycarter2602 That is a good idea, thank you!
@@brinleighbertram8372 I would definitely avoid cohabitating leopard geckos, you would need to have an extremely large tank and even then they would still probably get stressed out long term. They aren’t social so it’s better just to have one per tank.
@@jamarchy ok thank you!
Hey this is a bit off topic but can a corn snake stay in a 40 gallon it’s whole life
If it’s 48x12 then yes
@@Back_Day_Barbarian a 40 gallon tank
@@Back_Day_Barbarian it is 36x16
For males yes, but females will get too big. The minimum is the length and the width of the enclosure equating the full length of the snake. I’d recommend at least a 67 gallon (48*18*18) enclosure for an adult corn snake.
Don’t Forget pictus geckos
American toads should be on the list
I thought about including amphibians too, but decided to just stick to reptiles. But there's so many fantastic frogs and toads that can be kept in small spaces! 🥰 and spiders too. So many great animals. 😊
@@ellesreptiles Yes there are! I own a American toad, he is amazing!
Axolotls can live in a 10 gallon tank but people say get 20 gallon the Axolotl will do fine in a 10 gallon they only say 20 gallon bc of there mess I am getting 1 in 3 weeks and it's gonna live in a 11to 15 gallon tank and just do your research
Western Hognoses are amazing too (males specifically). Just don't put a female in 20 Gallon tank.
They only get 2-3 feet, they can live in a 20 gallon enclosure their entire life. 1-2 foot males can go even smaller, like a 10-15 gallon enclosure.
The minimum size for a single leopard gecko is 40 gallons and something like a 75 is recommended for a colony
20*
@@jacknthebeanstalk1122 like 5 years ago yes
@@marks_reptiles_and_inverts should I upgrade my leopard gecko to a 40?
@@jacknthebeanstalk1122 yes 👍
I have a giant in a 120 with a bunch of hiding spots
also bare minum leopard gecko tank size is 3 feet by 2 by 2
I definitely agree that that's the minimum that most should be kept in (as I stated in the video). But the actual minimum size requirements in the US is still listed as a 20g long (also as stated in the video). 😊
@@ellesreptiles i use what reptifiles says
They're a fantastic resource! 😊
Minimum is 2*1*1 times the full length of the lizard. A 30*12*12-inch enclosure is great for a 7-11-inch lizard
rosy boas need at least 40 gallon tank not a 2 gallon tank
As stated in the video, while 20 gallon is listed as minimum requirements in the US, it is really only sufficient for smaller males. Females and larger males definitely need a bigger tank. 😊
@@ellesreptiles they all devesre that much space.
Why are you suggesting 20 gallon tanks for geckos?? 20 gallon long tanks are the bare minimum size. And snakes should be able to fully stretch their bodies in their enclosures.
Are you talking about leopard geckos? Because I mentioned multiple types of geckos in the video. 👀 If you're talking about leopard geckos, I say in the video that this is bare minimum size and I feel like they need larger tanks....... 😅
