I've had a corn snake for about 2 months, and I love him so much! He escaped on day 3, but we were lucky enough to find him crossing the floor a week later. Get clips! Worth taking them on and off. Best eater out of all of our snakes by far. Lots of beautiful rescue corns!
I have multiple corn snakes and some are housed together I just feed them separately. They seem to enjoy each other's company. You catch them sleeping in the same hide most times even though they have more than one. They are a great first snake. Thanks for this one on corn snake care. YES cage clips a most for all snakes and locks for the sliding door enclosures. Better safe than sorry. GOD BLESS 🐍💖🐍💖🐍💖🐍💖
I got a second-hand enclosure from a coworker and put my baby corn snake, Dame, right in before I went to bed. I’d cleaned it and set it up, and I thought it was pretty good looking :) The next morning, I couldn’t find her when I got up for work. When I got home, I looked a lot more thoroughly (ironically, I’d spent the day looking for an escaped corn snake) but she was nowhere to be found. I found her trying to escape out the chimney at 2 in the morning!
The last 2 years of having a corn snake have been nothing short of eventful. I and my bed have been pooped on many a time. I remember a specific time I had literally checked he had pooped in his enclosure first, spot cleaned it and checked that he didn’t have a bulge around his cloaca showing he had any left in him before I took him out - he still found a way to poop on me. HOW CAN SUCH A SLENDER SNAKE HOLD SO MUCH POOP??
Yeah warming and and moving seem to get them pooping for sure. My guy has been on a hunger strike and still managed to poop all over my floor and foot the other day. Good thing he's cute
Might depend on how much you feed him. I fed my year old corn snake two live mice in one feeding the other day, and not only did she make a big mess on my bed, but she made another one in her warm hide. I'm always careful with holding her on Thursdays, AKA, her "pooping day", since that's usually two days after she's eaten her last meal, meaning she's fully digested and ready to go.
Thanks for sharing the info. Everything you said is true. I have 4 corn snakes and they have never escaped because I have always used the cage clips. The only thing they have not done is poop on me. I heard that King snakes tend to do that more. Enjoyed it.
Something I wish I knew was that corn snakes are harder to read body language than ball pythons. I absolutely love them both. But I have gotten bitten much more by corn snakes by misreading prey drive with curiosity. Its always my fault getting bitten, but sometimes my corn is in a deceptively spicey mood. Amazing video!!❤️
great timing for this video as we just got our first ever corn snake. she is a snow & her name is "Cora." meaning "core" & "heart" because she actually has a single heart symbol in her pattern. she hasn't escaped *yet* and ive tried my best to close off every possibly exit to avoid this 😂 hopefully ive done a good job. one of my favorite things about her (and corn snakes in general) is her little derpy face when she's periscoping. sadly- as for now, she hates being handled... shes 1yr old and still very small. she strikes alot when being held so we just honestly havent been holding her to avoid more stress. however, ive been researching the best ways to get her used to handling. with time, im hoping that this improves and that she becomes more comfortable. until then, she seems very happy when exploring her enclosure and is eating very well for us. 😊
First, congrats! 🎉 I love her name and the meaning behind it so much! Just be patient and keep working with her, and she should eventually get to the point of being ok with handling. It's great that she's happy in the enclosure though, and that she's eating well! It sounds like you're doing a fantastic job 🥰
Always heard they are escape artists. I have had a big boy in my life for about 11 years now. He never escaped until I litterlly left his cage part way open by accident last week and he went on a journey. He's a large boy so we heard him hit the ground when he got down from the dresser lol. By big I mean he is over 5 ft and not fat but girthy for a corn snake he can take down small rats no problem
Great video!!! Next time i get a corn snake, i will buy cage clips. mine lifted the tank lid in the middle of th night and escaped. that was 1 1/2 years ago. thanks for the info!! have a blessed day ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this information! I recently came into possession of a corn snake on a rescue/rehome situation, and while i have experience/knowledge of snakes, educating myself more has been really helpful. I also LOVE your curls! You are so beautiful and a wonderful teacher. I love your idea about doing an enrichment board for them. As someone who is a dog trainer, this made me really happy to learn that snakes also love enrichment puzzles and mazes. Thank you again ❤
Hello! Personally, corn snakes are better. Garters tend to be more skittish, and can musk. They also are social creatures, so you usually need 2-3 garters to keep them happy. Corns are solitary, less skittish, and can’t musk. They also tend to be better eaters than garters in my experience.

I’ve been thinking of getting a corn snake. Maybe I’ll wait until my 6x2x4 enclosure is free. They seem like they need lots of room and a 4x2x2 isn’t enough.
Can you please do a care guide cause I’m thinking of getting one but I don’t know what I need to get to prepare (I only have a 55 gallon 2 front door opening tank but I don’t know what else to get) P.s. I love you videos ❤ keep doing you ❤️❤️
Hello 👋 I follow you on UA-cam and love your setups. I have 2 corns that are both a little over a yr old now. A few months ago we bought them matching tanks that were more suitable for my office and well now I’m trying to figure out the best way for uvb light and some extra warmth for winter. They both have heat pads built in under them but I just don’t think they do it justice as far as warming through the pvc. I thought about adding a uvb/heat bulb with a cage but I’m afraid they will still burn themselves on the cage. This is all new since I had plenty of ways to warm in their other tanks just they took up way to much space. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I sent a private message with the photo of the tanks to your instagram. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thank you for this video! My corn snake is under one year old, and I am using a substrate of Aspen. Do you recommend bark and soil? I've seen many people use the Aspen and it seems to keep their little snout a little cleaner. I was wondering maybe I should switch over when he's a little older. What are your thoughts?
Had a corn snake surrendered to me today and when I got there he had escaped into the dash of the person surrendering him car. Spent 45 minutes getting him untwined from in there but got him out un harmed
I've built a new background for my corn snake as you guys did in a video I saw, how long till you can put your snake into the new enclosure after it dries? Has a faint smell still but it's been 3 weeks
Hello would you be able to answer some questions please? We got our corn snake August 14th 2023 she's about 6 months old we were told to feed her every four days we fed her twice your supposed to feed her again today. She looks like she's going to go into shed. And we have not found any poop yet, so I'm worried about that. 4 days ago we gave her a water bath for 15 minutes she did not poop. She still ate. I am dyslexic any information will help please and thank you❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🐍
Just by making sure there's no where they can get out 😊 Make sure the lid closes securely (by using clips if it's a mesh lid. Make sure there's no openings that their heads can fit through. If there's sliding doors, make sure they can't fit through the gap.
Off topic question. Any idea why a bearded dragon would sleep a lot besides brumation? He has no signs of bad health but I'm going to take him to the vet anyway. An ideas would be greatly appreciated?
Are the temperatures correct? (Measuring with a temp gun) Is there proper UVB? (Linear, good brand, changed within the last 6 - 12 months) Are they being fed correctly? (Appropriate amount, gut loaded)

How big is your enclosure (what’s the length/width/height, or how many gallons)? Adult corn snakes need a 4x2x2’ (120 gallon) enclosure or larger to thrive. I’m going to be honest, getting a pet snake that young is not a good idea. I hope your parents are helping you care for the snake.
