    My girlfriends 2006 Durango 4.7 V8 stalled while she was driving and then she got to the point where she thought it only did it when it rained outside. I started going through the internet each night trying to figure it out. I replaced the COWL and couple other things. Finally I found a thread online that a man said he changed his wiper blades motor. I changed that and BOOM it never shut down ever again. Been going strong for 2 years now.

    Oil Pressure Sensor can do that too, mine stalls while driving and oil light comes on, ez fix and it stalled no more for me. My durango also has 244k on it with OG Motor and Transmission. But thanks for the info, gonna replace my cowl and PCM too now so I won't have that happen again anytime soon.

      Connection for battery harness looked fine but upon inspection, had to cut the two wires on the positive side to inspect and found the corrosion in the strand, bought a repair splice wire (the two wire splice) from AutoZone and followed directions for repair and codes couldn't be erased upon startup had to drill the holes wider in order to cleanly insert each wire in . Cleared codes and no more problem at startup, this after changing the camshaft sensor and it still was giving the error. Stalling at pull off and while on highway with high mph .whole lot cheaper fix than the cost of PCM.

      Once I replaced it, the problems went away regarding the stalling. Since it is an older vehicle, I am encountering new problems. I had a crank issue recently where the car would crank, but not start. That is a new video I posted. I have also had RPM issues related to the ignition coils, and I still have the small evap leak issue which nobody seems to be able to solve. That is a quest of mine to fix!

    Nice video. I had a 2005 Durango that stalled and just needed the throttle body cleaned.
    Im having an issue with a 2007 aspen now. The motor ran great until after replacing catalytic converters and now it sounds like it might have a lifter tick. I fear the p0164 code that went up after the repair might have damaged the engine with heat and back pressure. Im completely lost diaging this issue. It seems to happen most when going over a bump or cutting the wheel to the left, yet the sound is coming from the drivetrain

      These problems never seem to be easy to figure out. The symptoms seem to be similar for that code, but there could be a number of issues. There were a number of sensors that are tied to this code as well. Does it cut off at operating temp while it is idle?

      Debris at the bottom of the fuel tank is lifted when refill is done. It may clog whatever is left of a free flowing stream of fuel to the engine. A bump, and it may regain normal flow. Clean tank, change sump filter and change in line fuel filter or the 5 micron filter on the pump unit.

      You should be able to determine that by the VIN of your limited edition The ECU has to be programmed specifically for your vehicle, which is determined by your VIN anyway. Try this link to start with. You can probably find cheaper options, but at least I got what I asked for on this site:

    • @mrstyl

      I appreciate the insight. The part number is actually assoicated with the PCM, which I confirmed with the VIN when it had to be reprogrammed. There are different Durango models that may have different configs, but at least for the 04, this has been consistent.

    2006 Dodge Durango 4.7l Adventurer with stalling & misfires. Have On & Off (with frequent resets) Engine Light with OBD codes of P0201 & P0300. Injector-1 circuit open & multiple cylinder misfires. After replacement of plugs, cylinder 1 injector, & fuel system cleaning, still have issues & most apparent in reverse. Advise by dealer that Coils not the issue. ECU and/or wire harness has been the final diagnosis. Think I’m going to order an ECU & hopefully be done with it! • @osmidoizquierdo525
      @osmidoizquierdo525 2 роки тому

      Hello, STYL! I do appreciate your responsiveness! However, I can telll you that I am fortunate that the condition has yet to get to that level. The symptoms of sputtering,misfires, & rough idle is sporadic. As sporadic as the Check Engine Light coming on for a weeks time & going off for no rhyme or reason. But I can definitely say the sputtering & turning off is heightened when in reverse like times coming out of a parking space & especially Under Load in reverse with a boat & trailer in tow. When this event happens, the exhaust smokes & fuel smell resonates. The ‘06 Durango will definitely also turn off in these instances. If the Check Engine Light was not on, it surely turns On in these times. Can hurt to just try to find a refurbished ECU as the very first diagnostic in August!!! yielded a bad ECU & the last Diag at the dealer in December was also the ECU…..after they replaced the plugs & cleaned the fuel system. So what do you think?

    • @mrstyl
      @mrstyl  2 роки тому +1

      @@osmidoizquierdo525 yeah, that seems like a unique problem. The ECU was the last thing I was going to try before I hung it up. Thankfully it worked, but I went through all spark plugs & and associated cables, there was the throttle body along with the sensors as well. These helped it to run smoother, but did not take care of the I deleting problem of the ECU. For what it’s worth, my check engine light came on for long periods at a time, and also went off. It got to the point where there was no code thrown even when it co Stanton shit off. There was water leaking into the hood during rainy weather, and I noticed the ECU had scum on it due to the weather. It may not hurt to visually inspect it to see if any visible damage is present. I understand wanting to make sure you know it is that unit before spending a good amount on a replacement, so I hope you can isolate.the problem

    What did you pay for that ECU?

    • @mrstyl
      @mrstyl  9 місяців тому

      Just under $200. I had to send in the bad ECU so the company could refurbish it

    Did it throw a code ?

    • @mrstyl
      @mrstyl  Рік тому

      By the time it started malfunctioning, there were no diagnostic codes to read. That was another indicator of the computer module failing

    Did you enjoy buying parts at random?

    • @mrstyl
      @mrstyl  3 роки тому +6

      It was a pet project of mine. I made it a point to get the car working for my daughter. It was not completely random. The parts I ordered were based on symptoms I experienced with the car, plus other videos I saw on UA-cam. This site has been extremely helpful to me, and I just want to contribute my experience.
