I’m having issues finding the windshield cowl cover on1a auto.. please assist
I’ve had mine since 2005 till now 2021, I have never had any major problems or these. Take care of your cars, guys !
My family got our 2006 brand new passed down from my mom, to my brother, and finnally to me and the gas and A/C thing have been a thing I never really thought was a big problem but I’m glad I know how to fix it
Agree, a very reliable car if you maintain it properly. We still have our 2006 Durango 4.7 V8, currently around 113k, miles and stills drives well. Also doing regular maintenance work (oil/fluid changes, new brakes etc.) and never had any major problems, incl. those mentioned in the video. Greetings from Germany :)
I’ve had my 2004 and it’s ram so good until one time water got in gas had to drain it all than broke down had to do ignition coils and than had wire shortages fixed that but as of today it’s running good
Did you come to brag?😂
Actually my mom had an 05 Durango SLT V8 with over 180,000 miles and currently has an head gasket problem, break lines overall need done and more and still well taken care of.
I bought mine brand new and still driving it 16 years later with over 394,000km on it and it's still running strong.
I've have the cowl and fuel filler issues. I find only certain gas stations give me issues. The two biggest issues have been rust especially if you are in the rust belt, and the exhaust manifold bolts snapping causing the exhaust gases to leak around the gasket and giving you that loud exhaust tick noise when the engine is cold. The other issue I've had is the non-replaceable power steering lines one the rack itself rusting and bursting. These three issues are probably more common in areas where the roads are heavily salted in the winter. Every Durango are here has these issues. Even after so many miles on the old rig the engine still runs strong and has never let a guy down or left him stranded!
I've gone through two EGR valves in my 05 Durango Hemi, 129,000 miles. Good thing Autozone has lifetime warranty! Great video.
I think that definitely is a Durango issue. I had a 2003 and now have a 2007 and they both did exactly what he said. I had a mechanic and that was never brought up as that being the issue. Now I know that is what u
it was. Even my son's girlfriend's mom had a Durango and it had that same issue.
I have a 5.7. one thing I certainly notice is there is no hesitation while accelerating.
I’ve had my 06 since 07. Just hit 200,000 miles and still running strong!
This was the most productive video I’ve seen all week. Thank you very much!
Thank you! This video really helped with some issues I’ve been having on my 07!
I feel like I learned 50 things about my truck 🤓😁 he's is a good mechanic and explains everything really good
I'm at 299k miles and im looking to buy another lower mileage one because its been such a good rig.
Thanks for sharing your expertise great video very informative
Wow these are some issues I'm currently having ,had me worried but glad you included quick fixes now I know , without having a 20 min long video lol time is valuable too . THANKS
Hi, thanks for your video!. I have a 2009 Durango SLT 5.7 Hemi, just having for a while that fuel vent issue. Will see what can I do to fix it.
Thank you for all the helpful information! Keep helping the avrage Guy
A1-Auto 👍
Very professional,
You guy's rock.
😎🌞😎
good info thanks for sharing.
Might add the oil sending unit switch to this list. I had this problem and when I researched what the problem might be, this came up in a few different forums and articles.
Wow, what an awesome video. Thank you, I know now what is wrong with my car 😊.
Number 1 caused me a motor replacement 3 months after purchasing a used durango. Heavy rain and leak intake gasket caused water to go internally and destroyed the hemi motor. Wish I would have seen this video when first bought it.
Sadly , your not the first person I’ve read to have this problem and doubt you’ll be the last. Hearing about it has helped remind me to inspect mine as much as possible as I’m desperately trying to avoid that outcome.
I go through the same thing, now I finally know what the problem is after 5ys of having my truck and many mechanics telling me they have never heard of such thing. I bought a cover for my truck and cover it up EVERYTIME it's rains so it won't shut down on me. It's a hassel because I live in Texas and our weather is so unpredictable. 🤦🏽♀️
Just rebuilt a motor for mine because of this. A bit of 3/4 inch weatherstripping seems to have fixed the leaks, but we'll see.
Thats why I ddint go to the car wash as much. My car would stall out before I even made it down the street. Now I know to check the cowl.
I freaking love this man ! Full of enthusiasm and energy!
Hey!!! YOU'RE BACK!!!👍👍👍
Great video. Thanks.
FYI the fuel filler neck on most models in these years on the second generations have an extended warranty from Dodge they will fix the filler neck issue. You might want to mention too that it is a safety issue to fill up the fuel with that issue not only will it keep shutting off the pump but it will blow fuel back all over the pump as you're filling up. Have a nice day

Where was this video 3 years ago when I needed it?😭 I had to figure out everything all by myself and 4 out 5 issues he listed were the things I taken care without any help😭
I always refereed to it as 'Vomiting' when I fill my Durango tank. Supposably there was a recall on the issue at one time. And you missed the major issue, related to the first one you mentioned, and that is getting water in a cylinder and hydraulicing! Or just bad moisture management on a whole.
I have 2008 5.7 solid black limited..127,000. Keep plugs top of the line and oil clean..very explosive motor. With 20 in stock wheels.
I have all these problems that’s crazy good job
Only thing I’d add to the list is that rear A/C evaporator that’s located behind the rear passenger wheel.
It’ll cause the whole A/C to fail n it’s happened on more than one Durango I’ve owned ( the A/C’s are heavily used down here but I’ve heard it can effect the heat too)
I bought an 05 used and the only issue I had was the rear evaporator being bad. I brought to an A/C guy to fix but after 2 compressors and the “mechanic” being “stumped” or just knew what the problem was and was trying to get out of doing it (most likely) , I went hunt down info on my own. After finding a few videos and info on it I relayed the info to said mechanic and got the issue fixed.
Hope this helps someone else out there.
Thanks very helpful 👍🏻
230,000k miles on mine water pump replacement is the only problem I have had so far it starts strong every time so far also drove through a ocean pool in accident about 3 feet deep truck ripped through it like nothing then drove 200 miles home through the mountains ! Truck is a beast love my dodge and I waive to all other Durango people lol
Great video but I had to switch playback speed to.75 sounds so much clearer, I must be getting OLD. Awesome advice. I love my Durango. About to get another 1
I have a 07 never had any major issues runs n looks great do regular maintenance people.
Thank you sir
Do you have a video on cowl replacement for the 2nd gen Durango?
This guy is great
Is an 08' Durango with 80k miles for $6.5K worth it in 22'? Seems like there are mixed reviews on them.
Thanks and Keep Rocking...
Only thing additional I'd add for both 2nd gen and 1st gen is exhaust manifold studs breaking. I was lucky with both and was able to swap them myself, but the cost of each stud was insane at the dealer. I had the windshield seal issue as well as everything else on this video. The seal leak led to misfires and eventually the engine shutting down and not restarting. I let it dry out in the parking lot for some hours then came back and picked it up, started fine. Later I got some black silicone caulk and just packed that stuff into the seal. Good to go. This is the longest duration I've owned a vehicle, overall the hemi limited has been incredible for the past 9 years since purchase. Recently paid someone to swap out the water pump just as preventative, now at 168K miles.
Both my 06 HEMI Durango and 08 HEMI Aspen have a bad #7 MDS solenoid code. Apparently both the solenoid and the PCM need to be replaced simultaneously but I didn't bother on either and just run a diablosport tune with it disabled.
I have a 06 with 225000 mi. Almost no rust and have not had any of these problems. Most dependable vehicle I have ever owned. Go hemi.
Got an 07 and just replaced one fuel injector and literally it drove great for a day then started skipping again
My rpm needle was going nuts absolutely no power
Took it back to the mechanic
He says it’s another injector smh
Just praying it won’t end up costing us a fortune
I love my truck!
is there a cabin air filter to replace? great tips on the smell issue ill definately use, but what about an air filter for cabin air system? ive had varying results some say they some say they dont
Your welcome for the free Hex I didn't claim after the snapshot... Haha
I forgot all about it until I saw you profile pic.
Thankyou sir
I'm trying to figure out where the ground strap connects to the engine block. Just noticed it hanging from front driver side. I have been experiencing stalling and electrical flickering at stop lights/signs. Help needed, thanks
Bought a used 2008 with 149k miles just about 2 months ago and I’ve had every problem other then what’s “common”🥲 it came from up north and the rust on it isn’t too terrible just surface rust underneath but my doors are completely eaten through. just replaced my steering rack and pinion, steering pressure hose, tie rods, trunk latch actuator, oil pan+ gasket, brake master cylinder, brake calipers, and after all that it’s still driving a little rough. Engine purrs like a kitten but that transmission? Might actually be my EGR. Sometimes when accelerating it’s hard and sluggish, goes into gears rough, when reversing the whole car will shake *sometimes though*. I put new spark plugs and wiring in it and changed the transmission fluid and filter to see if that helped a bit, nope. So far it’s been a money pit 🥲🥲 no where near as bad as my old Volkswagen Beetle that I had as a project car. Fix one fucking thing on that bug and 10 more problems show up 😂 if you’ve got a Durango and know what could be up with my slow/rough shifts lmk !
Never had any of them problems on the 6 I owned
Daimler-Chrysler was involved in designing the '04-'09 Durango I was told the hydro-formed chassis was developed in Germany. My '04 has 145,000 miles on it. No major problems just normal maintenance. I do have a rear-door latch that is malfunctioning recently but engine and drivetrain are strong. CD player? Don't ask but radio works fine. I have replaced the headlight bezels twice as I don't like the look of faded headlights - that alone can make a big difference in how your Durango appears - that and plenty of trips to the car wash.
thanks what about 2004 stall no codes 5.7 starts right back up then runs ok, stalls cold within two miles.?
its the pluuh pluuuh pluuuh fir me nice video any q&a?
Can a bad EGR thingy cause white smoke from exhaust... its coolant and i dont have a blown head gasket
Do you have the module power distribution c-1 for a 04 dodge Durango 5-7 liter? I really need it asap!

Help!! I have a 2005 Dodge Durango 5.7L Hemi Gas gauge not working properly and when the gas level is low it will trigger my Check Engine light..
04:23 when she gets up to go wash off 😆
I had 2009 for 5 years from 2011 till 2015.
I had only and only 1 problem, the 4 wheel auto switch was going crazy that caused the transmission to fail. Never the less, the cost $1,900 was reasonable to fix and back like new.
As compared to the Cayenne GTS 2009, the Durango 2009 is far efficient in terms of maintenance and fuel consumption.
The Cayenne GTS is only joyful and more comfortable.
What's the part number for thr Cowl Tube thing? Thanks
Any tips on getting the starters out of one of these things? Trying to find the best way to get it out of my 04 4.7. Lol
Yeah work below the starter unscrew starter to battery cable first. Pull the ignition thin wire from starter. Unscrew the two bolt on the the starter going into transmission housing. Pull the starter out.
Bought a 2007 from show room. Have 140,00 miles abs only issue I e has is exhaust manifold bolts breaking off giving you that tik tik sound. None of the 5 issues have occurred. 5.7 hemi tows my 22ft boat with ease!
Ive got 04 with 5.7. The front brakes drag the rotors wearing brakes out ive replaced calipers several times brake lines rotors steal the drag any idea how to fix
I have an 2006 with the 4.7l no rust no issues other the a/c keeps going out 3 compressors and still have the problem 85000 miles on my
My 06 keeps telling me misfire cylinder 2 I've changed everything also when I back out of my yard it cuts off I've changed throttle body sensors under the tire injectors fuel pump fuel filter alternator and it still cuts off starts right back up but cuts off please help me
PLease can u help me and show me where is ac filter change for Dodge Durango 2008
The EGR valve on the 4.7L is on the back of the intake manifold, behind the throttle body. One of the worst parts I've had to replace on my 05
Great. This is something I think I need to replace. Sounds like it's gonna be a real pita
Curious if that's what's causing mine to not go over 1000 rpm while driving all of a sudden
I have an 04 Durango and it’s running really rich and it’s hesitant so I’m thinking erg valve and manifold gasket needs replaced. What would be causing the extra fuel in the coil packs causing the misses?
+Matt Wooten We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
You for got how bad they rust out,
FACT !!
No rust on my SoCal durango 😄
I have a 2008 Saturn Vue. I got the Omega light and the Check Oil lights on. Yet my Code Machine has said there is nothing wrong. I have changed my oil and the light is still on. The SUV (3.6 Engine) runs awsome. I know the muffler Tail Pipe needs replacing. Any idea on the oil light? As for the Omega, I know i need an Alignment in the front due to an Ambulance backing up into the drivers door. So I know that one. I have checked the oil pump and it like I said the oil was changed. But I am at a loss. No codes came up. Wondering if its the sensor itself. Need advice.
Usually when you go to get your oil done they do something to reset it I only know this because I forgot to reset mine and it still said change oil it was stupid like turn the key on and off twice hit the brake three times take it down to Walmart but they can reset it for you for free
I got a 2007 limited.....had it for ten years with no real problems... long as you keep up on maintenance... she will ride forever...currently at 212 thousand miles.. BUT now have a engine light on and they say I need to replace my computer system (throwing false codes)....even though she rides like a dream to me I can’t pass emissions
If it has a sunroof, check the cabin fuse box. I have an 05 limited with sunroof. It started throwing false computer codes. I found out on Dodge Forums that occasionally the drain holes for the sunroof (there are 4, one in each corner) will plug up the the water that accumulates will run down the "A" pillar right into the fuse box. I found my fuse box full of water. I removed the box, disassembled it, dried it out, cleaned up any corroded contacts with emery cloth and electronic cleaner, reassembled it with dielectric compound and reinstalled. I also cleaned out the plugged drain holes with compressed air and weed trimmer string. Fixed the issue. Now I clean out the drain holes twice a year to avoid having a flooded out fuse box. Its a known issue with all Dodge trucks and SUVs with a sunroof during the Daimler years. Poor design having the fusebox under the "A" pillar next to the driver's left foot.
What about the camshaft sensor constantly going out? My 06 Durango has this problem and so did my friends 06 Dakota. Both had the 4.7 liter engines.
I just changed my cam shaft sensor to my 05 Durango but every time I reverse my car turns off did you ever figure out what was wrong with your 06 Durango
@@sierramartinez8341 I had a friend check it out and he said that oil was getting into the connector of the camshaft sensor. He said the connector is supposed to be dry and that’s probably what’s throwing the engine light. He cleaned it out and dried it and told me to drive it around to see if it happens again. It’s been parked for about 2 years or so. I start it up once in awhile but don’t drive it because I don’t want to get stranded again. Sorry for the late response I barely saw this.
I have an 04 SLT Hemi 5.7 that I just changed out the front radiator hose because it was swollen (and I didn’t know). Now I’m thinking that the thermostat needs to be changed out because I have to run the heater to help keep it cool. Instead of spending $100’s of dollars to get it changed, what is the best solution to see if it actually the thermostat that needs replacing? Should I try a radiator flush first? Or just change out my thermostat when I do my radiator flush? I’m looking for the most cost efficient solution- I’m single mom and I need my durango
Did you "burp" the system when you filled up the radiator? The upper tank of the rad sits higher than the engine. If your coolant gets too low, you need to take out the set screw (plug) on top of the upper rad hose inlet. Put a funnel in it and fill it with coolant. Replace plug, then top off the radiator. Then you need to run the engine and loosen, but don't take out, the plug. Keep it loose until you see coolant bubble out then tighten it up. Shut off engine, let cooling system cool, then check the rad and top off as needed. If you don't do this, it can cause an air bubble to "lock up" the cooling system making it run hot because it can't flow properly. One of the flaws of DaimlerChrysler putting the thermostat down on the inlet side of the water pump and the fact the engine sits so low in the bay.
I have a 2006 Durango 4x4. My power windows stopped working. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Actuator? Sometimes water will get down in there and short out. Happens if you have the window rolled down, even just for a short period of time such as going to a fast food drive-thru window. Or like me, it starts to rain and I'd left the window rolled down a smidge. Lol
I have a 2006 Dodge Durango. The passenger side from and back parking light stays on even when the engine is off, can anyone suggest what may be the problem and how to solve it.I disconnect the battery so as not have power drain.
I have a 2006 dodge Durango slt 4.7 and im having trouble with it I replaced the starter, the battery, coil packs, spark plugs throttle body & sensor but for some reason it still won't keep a charge overnight once I get a jump off I'm good to go but I just starting having this problem idk what could be the problem please help!!!
Could be ignition switch. Mine is so loose, I can take the key out while running. I also have to be careful positioning it in "off" position, otherwise my battery will loose its charge overnight and have to get a jump.
I have an 2006 and liftgate not opening. Is there a release liftgate button
i have a 2007 5.7 Hemi and im having this issue. Only 1 of the low beam lights turns on (drivers side) and when i turn on high beam only passanger side turns on. Any advise on what and how i can fix
2nd gen Durangos are beast's but they aren't perfect. Im on my second 2006 Hemi limited. For the most part I've had only minor issues but I DO have an engine light that decodes as "evap system." Think I will check that EGR valve. Thanks!
I have that EVAP light too all the time. Just replaced a $30 part hoping that’s it. Already replaced gas cap and that didn’t fix it. I have a 4.7 though.
I used to buy a new egr valve every year before emission time to get the cel off to pass then it would come back a couple months later
I am not getting much heating . It;s very light.and seems not to be flowing through all the vents. What should i check sir?
My 2006 Durango almost made it to 500,000 miles. None of the listed issues arose - death caused by leaking valve guide seals and broken exhaust manifold bolts (2).
I bought mine new and had no real issues except one year the sunroof leaked so bad it filled the floor in front of passenger and driver seat. Techs were telling me to replace the window or the weather stripping for hundreds or thousands ... after much research it was actually a simple fix. I bought a drain cleaning tool for $6 and flushed the 2 drains around the sunroof, problem solved.
Does the 2006 Dodge Durango have a cable to a throttle body? I have a loose gas pedal that you have to press an 1” before it will accelerate.
An auto shop said I need to replace the whole housing (gas and break pedal), however, this is a discontinued item. They can’t find the part. Any suggestions?
I have an 04 5.7 D. Had the cowl issue, ordered a new one & used silicone to seal it off, never leaked again. Just did the egr,pcv valve and the power steering pressure switch. Nothing major.
+kencolle1 Thanks for the feedback!
my egr went bad i had a check engine light and a gas cap light and i have the stalling issues even after replacing it i still have the stalling issue with the egr thing
Make sure it's mopar parts on egr. Also replace leak down detector on charcoal canister & oring. Best of luck.
Got a 04 durango got it with 50k miles on it now its over 320k still runs good only thing now is my rear speakers went out i'm thinking its a fuse but i cant find the fuse for radio
It's ur amp fuse pull down passenger side panel under glove box on right here's a crome box change fuse speakers work
My gascap indicator came on recently followed by the malfunction/check engine indicator so I'm thinking it could be #3
Yeah i had that problem a month ago. Replace the leak down pump on the charcoal canister it has the electrical connector on it. Also replace that oring inside the canister as well. Hope this helps you out.
There was a recall on this a few years ago
EGR repair which permanently fixes the issue is an EGR delete 🤣😂🤣
Egr off
Again use mopar. Or you will have the problems return using aftermarket. Trust me been there done that multiple times.
I just bought a 2006 Dodge Durango SLT 4.7 L and it needs are 34A in it I can't find the low side to fill it if you guys could help me out I would appreciate it
Computer says it's the CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, on my 05 Dodge Durango 5.7 Hemi. But, I do have the EGR issues, and gasoline issues, stalling, spewing gasoline at the pump. Should I go for it and change, fix them all? I have missed over a month's worth of work. This chick is going to have to fix this herself, because I am broke. So, can you show how to replace the part, its location and done from underneath the vehicle? Do I really have to remove a tire and starter to replace this?
I have mine since 2004 new..today 10/2022 It has a strong gas smell. Anyone know what might be?
I know I'm late to the game but, I put a liberal amount of dielectric grease around the base of the coil pack to prevent water leaking in the spark plug chamber.
I've got a 07 with the 5.7 , I'm having an issue where the bas, esp, air bag, engine, brake, battery, and abs lights came on and the radio, cruse, tach, water gages stopped working as well as the tow haul. Looking for any ideas of what this could be.
Same year and same problems. You ever find the cause\ Remedy?
@@michaelh8102 same problem, mine there was a wire somewhere around the driver side rear wheel what was cut. Reconnected and lights went off
Buy a new (used) truck. You will probably spend a small fortune repairing all that. Labor alone will be ridiculous.
MINE IS MAKING A ROARING NOISE AS IF IT HAS A TRANS AM ENGINE OR SOMETHING SOUNDS CRAZY BUT ITS NOR AFFECTINGY SPEED OR PERFORMANCE AT ALL?
Please tell me you're in Orlando Florida so you can just pick up my truck and work it out I'm so tired of putting parts on this truck but it's doing exactly what you said back out the yard cut off go one house next door cut off
So is there a cabin air filter in these things
05 had a recall on the fuel spit back
Yeah two of my 06 does it. Guess what dodge says these are not recalled. Go figure. Paid Good year to repair mine. Sucks. 500 buck cash or more to repair.
@@mw7540 What did they do to fix it? I'm having the same problem
Good day. Dodge Durango. Interior light does not turn off. what could be the reason? please tell me.

If the egr valve is bad will that make the vehicle not pass smog
Can a 2004 transmission fit in a 2005 Dodge Durango
Where's your shop? I want you to be "my mechanic."
how do I find out which Gen I have?
My 07 Durango keeps getting a security breach where I can't start it how do I fix it
