Man, Lex gets it straight away cause 80s music was all about feel good. Brad wants to analyse how many vowels are in the whole song & then forget that it's just damn good. He's moving to it which shows it's getting to him but then wants to pull the whole mood down. He's reaction even bought my mood down & Lex's mood after a bright start. Lighten up man.
THIS is the band that wrote ....Quiet Riot's "Cum on feel the Noise" and "Mama We're all Crazy Now"....This song, "My oh My" and many more...You just discovered one of the ultimate drink--a--long, sing--along, anthem bands ever. They should've been huge in America, and would have been, if they'd gotten the proper promotion: for some insane reason, radio stations & others thought they were "too English" for us - the same people who went crazy for countless other English bands... Love Noddy Holder: the greatest air raid siren in rock.

Finally, finally getting round to Slade, one of the greatest rock and roll bands of ever. They are one of my all time favourite bands. Slade Forever! The lead singer, Noddy Holder is another of the coolest people to ever hit music. Thanx for this one, You have to do Far, Far Away.
Slade were huge in the early/mid-70s in the UK but had declined in popularity by the end of the decade. In 1980 Ozzy Osbourne pulled out of the Reading Festival and Slade were brought in as last minute replacements. Despite thinking it might be a farewell performance, the band stole the show and enjoyed a new wave of success in the early 80s. Run Runaway was part of that.

It's not about anything, but the form and style is a traditional one in that it's fun to sing and anyone can add their own verse, then everyone sings the chorus.
Slade wrote some seriously good songs "how does it feel" ..."cuz I luv you" ...just to name a couple ...I think the way they dressed and acted made it hard to take them seriously sometimes ...and Noddy Holder had an amazing voice !!

Slade were one of a few great Glam Rock band of the early to mid 70's. They had a successive number of No.1 hits during that time, and until '76 were unstoppable. This particular song was part of the revival in the early 80's, (1983-84), which also included, 'My Oh My.' Songs from the 70's include, 'Coz I Luv You', 'Take Me Bak 'Ome', 'Gudbye T' Jane', 'Look Wot You Dun.' The spellings of which were done deliberately to reflect their regional Brummie accent. 'Get Down And Get With It', being their first major hit.

Slade are a British rock band formed in Wolverhampton in 1966. They rose to prominence during the glam rock era in the early 1970s,[1] achieving 17 consecutive top 20 hits and six number ones on the UK Singles Chart. The British Hit Singles & Albums names them the most successful British group of the 1970s based on sales of singles. They were the first act to have three singles enter the charts at number one; all six of the band's chart-toppers were penned by Noddy Holder and Jim Lea. As of 2006, total UK sales stand at 6,520,171, and their best-selling single, "Merry Xmas Everybody", has sold in excess of one million copies.[2] According to the 1999 BBC documentary It's Slade, the band have sold over 50 million records worldwide.[3]
Thank you for listening to these guys. Noddy Holder (lead singer) was considered to replace Bon Scott in AC/DC but he turned it down. Such a fun band that didn’t get their true spotlight.

@@algrundau9441 funny thing about the quiet riot version of cum on feel the noise. the band didn't wanna record the damn song so they tried savaging the recording of the song so it won't end up on the album and it backfired.
The bass guitar used in the video they put out for this song belongs to a fellow bandmate of mine who lives here in town. Fully documented and still plays great!
I recall an interview with Nikki Sixx where he named checked those two bands as the music he liked growing up. I had never heard of either and this is the first song by either band that I have heard but if Slade is this much fun I'll look into them.
My mother was an English immigrant to Canada, My first cousin Susan was the first of my English family to Visit us in Canada. She brought presents from England for us. My present was Slade Alive. I bought every Slade Album put out. Often times having to import them into Canada paying a fortune for them. Slade did a Canadian tour off the success of Good By T Jane. A single that charted in Canada. Best live band I've ever seen. I've seen hundreds of bands live. FYI AC/DC considered Noddy Holder as a replacement for Bon Scott. Another nugget Slade beats the Beatles for more number one hits in the U.K. SLADE the best band too see live in a pub . Be safe Don't Hate
Remember hearing this song on the AM Hits station in the late 70s early 80s before FM took off in MD/DC area. Atlanta Rhythm Section Homesick was another lost classic.
The original song was sung by Del Shannon in 1961. When I was 14 , I stole a boat from the local lake where I lived . And ran away with my girl friend at the time , With the cops and army looking for us. We headed up the lake then set the boat adrift ,and then went into the mountains . She got sick go we came back after a short time. The song RUNAWAY always takes me back to that time.
This was really a pre- 80’s band. A lot of their songs went on to be covered. The lead singer actually made us big money off of a Christmas song that is still the official Christmas song of the UK.
Now you've opened the box!! If you want two amazing ballads; Everyday and It's partner song She Did It To Me. They had an amazing sequence of British number 1s, 2s and top 30 hits in the 70s and early 80s.
Lex's Celtic side made the connection. This a rock version of an ancient Celtic Hymn. You should hear the Highland Pipes and Drum Corp do their version.
This was their 80s comeback hit. they were never huge in the US, but had loads of huge hits in the UK (6 Number 1's, I think) in the 70s. Check out "Coz I Love You", "Gub'buy to Jane", "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" and "Cum on Feel the Noize" (which was a hit for Quiet Riot in the 80s)
In case this hasn't already been said: After Bon Scott died, Angus Young asked Noddy to take over as the vocalist for AC/DC. Noddy said no because he was committed to Slade, and Brian Johnson was eventually recruited. I love imaging the world with Noddy singing Hell's Bells!
Noddy Holder has one of the best voices in rock and roll!

Great songs and great music great live band
When I was young (a long time ago) Slade were considered the bad boys, while The Sweet were the cute guys.
I recall an interview with Nikki Sixx where he named checked those two bands as the music he liked growing up. I had never heard of either and this is the first song by either band that I have heard but if Slade is this much fun I'll look into them.
Slade's best -
"Darling be home soon".
This song always makes me happy 😀
This was the first album that I ever bought ❤️ My oh my is another great song off this album.
This band is just brilliant 💪💪💪
My mother was an English immigrant to Canada,
My first cousin Susan was the first of my English family to Visit us in Canada.
Be safe
Don't Hate
Remember hearing this song on the AM Hits station in the late 70s early 80s before FM took off in MD/DC area. Atlanta Rhythm Section Homesick was another lost classic.
The original song was sung by Del Shannon in 1961. When I was 14 , I stole a boat from the local lake where I lived . And ran away with my girl friend at the time , With the cops and army looking for us. We headed up the lake then set the boat adrift ,and then went into the mountains . She got sick go we came back after a short time. The song RUNAWAY always takes me back to that time.
Spade was one of those really underrated bands. Super talented, super fun!!
This was Slade's comeback hit in 1984, Slade are mostly associated with the "Glam Rock" movement of the early to mid-1970's.
I always thought "run, run away" was a refrain from a traditional Scottish song, but I can't find any trace of it on the internet.
They also did probably the best Christmas song ever. It`s not Christmas until Noddy Holder screams IT`S CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
Slade "Cum On Feel the Noize" ... literally the sound system was so loud, you can feel it in your chest :)
This was really a pre- 80’s band. A lot of their songs went on to be covered. The lead singer actually made us big money off of a Christmas song that is still the official Christmas song of the UK.
I won't let it appen again is my favorite Slade song.
I agree with Lex. This kind of feels like "Whisky in the Jar", something with roots in folk songs from the celtic regions.
Now you've opened the box!! If you want two amazing ballads; Everyday and It's partner song She Did It To Me. They had an amazing sequence of British number 1s, 2s and top 30 hits in the 70s and early 80s.
Have always LOVED this song! 🔥🔥🔥
Lex's Celtic side made the connection. This a rock version of an ancient Celtic Hymn. You should hear the Highland Pipes and Drum Corp do their version.
Excellent group...you might enjoy reacting to more of their music - "Coz I Luv You" is from '71 and one of their best.
The “Celtic” feel to me comes from the fact that as Scots, they’re tapping into the sound of a bagpipe with the guitar solos, both in pitch and scale.
The best glam rock band ever you have to listen to there early 70s stuff good bye to Jane my friend stan and coz I luv you
This was their 80s comeback hit. they were never huge in the US, but had loads of huge hits in the UK (6 Number 1's, I think) in the 70s. Check out "Coz I Love You", "Gub'buy to Jane", "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" and "Cum on Feel the Noize" (which was a hit for Quiet Riot in the 80s)
In England they were the most succesful band of the 70's with six number 1's
In case this hasn't already been said: After Bon Scott died, Angus Young asked Noddy to take over as the vocalist for AC/DC. Noddy said no because he was committed to Slade, and Brian Johnson was eventually recruited. I love imaging the world with Noddy singing Hell's Bells!
