Great movement in the feet, legs and hips, but the real plus here is a dancer who knows how to use her arms and hands just as effectively, while keeping the upper body centered and relaxed; she gives the moves as a whole a lot more balance and dimension this way.
@@lymarie1974 Way ahead of you, I've watched this dozens of times, there's just so much to the way this young lady interprets the music. The whole dance is relaxed and a tad informal, like she's on a dance floor and not a stage, just having fun. Then just now (of course I had to see it again), I'm seeing how she put together every bar of the choreography to be perfectly suited to the arrangement: the clarinet solo is playful and so is she, then the trombone & muted trumpet dialogue are just a little raunchy, and there she is too; then the band comes back in on a charge, and she cuts right loose with it. Ah the Charleston ! This brought me back to my teenage years back in the 1940's as they were some wonderful times, glorious times, just incredible times. The young lady did a magnificent job, beautiful and talented no question. I can watch her dance all day.
It is a real pleasure and privilege to see someone so talented. I am no dance expert but I think I'm safe in observing that her performance was way beyond proficient. A delight.
My grandma taught me the basics as a child, but it's a revelation to see all these variations so well done. She was born 1897, when women were straitjacketed in corsets with legs totally hidden: clothing that made this type of dancing impossible & unimaginable. But, when she and millions like her came of age, Black Bottom was a perfect expression of their new freedoms.
The women of that generation who were still alive when I was a child -- a grandmother, a great-aunt-- born in the mid-1890s and would have expected to spend their whole lives in floor-length skirts once they had become women -- and then THIS in their young-women years, with hemlines above the knees -- and when I think what THEIR older people must have thought, stunned and shocked --- what a generational change that was. As for my grandfathers (b. 1885, 1893), they may have thought that in terms of girl-watching, they had hit a cosmic-event-level jackpot....
What a truly joyous thing to see and hear. Maria's moves are perfectly choreographed to the verse and chorus sections of the accompaniment, She changes to different steps at each musical change. What wonderful things are we humans!
The Art of Self-Expression ...This is a wonderful dancer, who demonstrates that it is possible to reach the pinnacle of self-expression through dance. Although most think of music, painting or sculpture, or creative writing as the highest forms of self-expression. This dancer proves that self-expression through dance is as equally potent, and deserves respect and admiration from all.

@@DikaWolf One of my grandmothers was a professional dancer before she married, and danced The Black Bottom at the time.
@@innocentoctave My grandmother was also a dancer, but for the USO.
A delight.
She's talented !
That clothing was invented and encouraged or more enforced by women, too, btw.
@@BlackCroft666 yes we know, no one cares.
I've watched this several times now, and every time it puts a big smile on my face, and makes me feel happy!
Same here!
AMEN!!!💓
Me too☺️
me to maaan!;) awsome to see!;)
i felt happy many times
I had a bigass grin on my face the whole video. Thank you for letting me forget everything for a few mins
You spend a lot of time in the air, and a lot of time smiling at the camera! Top notch stuff! Even the swans came over to watch you!!
Let's bring back the roaring 20's!! This lady's footwork is insane!!
What a truly joyous thing to see and hear. Maria's moves are perfectly choreographed to the verse and chorus sections of the accompaniment, She changes to different steps at each musical change. What wonderful things are we humans!
Her dancing brings joy to my heart! 😊
Her dancing brings blood to my penis.
Good rhythm and moves while also being fun, clean and wholesome
I am with you. It has a light feathery feeling to it.
Surely her hair is too long for this?

The Art of Self-Expression ...This is a wonderful dancer, who demonstrates that it is possible to reach the pinnacle of self-expression through dance. Although most think of music, painting or sculpture, or creative writing as the highest forms of self-expression. This dancer proves that self-expression through dance is as equally potent, and deserves respect and admiration from all.
Really delighted to see this exuberant dancing and to realize the music is by one of my favorite musical wizards, Enoch Light. Thanks for putting this together and presenting it to us.
You just discovered me a great author. Thank you.
Nice video also.
I'm so used to seeing people subbing out the music. It's so nice to see someone dancing to the actual song. Makes it so much more expressive and meaningful.
So well executed. Her movement felt incredibly natural and she just vibed out, hard.
I’m amazed at her fluidity her whole body is so loose it’s amazing 😊
I can only imagine how many hours were spent practicing. Your execution is performance perfect. Never lose the dream.
I read that Celtic dancers practice until their feet bleed.
@@justaguy1679 damn … true dedication right there.
Probably not many hours at all. The Charleston is a very simple dance and she’s a pro.
@@raymondmeyers8983 Nothing that looks easy is simple.
She projected the '20s Charleston dance moves so gracefully and great expression of the time that i felt as though I had go9ne back in time to that era. Wonderful potrayal, young lady.!!!
I love the chorus line of swans wagging their tails at the end. Well Choreographed!
I loved the swans swimming by right on time! An added delight!
Absolutely fantastic!
I would love to see her dance the same routine in a genuine flapper dress.
Yes please! How awesome that would be!
It is here..... ua-cam.com/video/bkPUC3gWvbE/v-deo.html
She just did the standard Charleston in a flapper dress.
@@GoGoTheFabricator sorry; I meant that she just released a new video in which she's wearing a champagne-gold flapper dress. That first comment *was* a little vague.
Or out...
This JazzyFeet's performance is the first time I've seen the Black Bottom performed in full since my mum danced it at a party in the 50s. What a memory, what a smashing feat...and what smashing feet! Thanks, JazzyFeet, for the trip back in time. Mum would be delighted to see you dance too.
Never have I wanted to live in this era so badly after watching this. Must've been mad fun just by watching people dancing.
Amazing Dancing! Love the way the arms go flying while legs are dancing away! Very impressive choreography!
even after 100 years, this music and dance looks phenomenal and super impactful, I imagine how people felt then, amazing.
They felt the same people dancing today do. It's not like we evolved into a different species since then. Go out and dance.
Beautiful girl, magnificent talent! She's so full of life! This should be compulsory viewing for depression patients!
Especially any who are wheel chair bound, or morbidly obese. Seriously this dance isn't that uplifting but if so then you're living a very sheltered life.
@@jimmason8502 Wow! I'm sure that you already know how crucial your opinion is to me, Jim, so thanks for giving it - my life is enriched by your very presence! I stand by what I said: "Beautiful girl, magnificent talent! She's so full of life! This should be compulsory viewing for depression patients!" Don't like? Don't read!
I agree TOTALLY I also think about Irish music, it is a very strong anti depressant. You foot start inevitably moving at rhythm. As German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said, “Without music, life would be a mistake.”
She absolutely Rocked that Dance!!!
Love the dance Maria! Impeccable Charleston dancing in the '20s. 2021, that is.
You’re not a professional dancer?! Absolutely expected you were. This is a pure joy to watch. ❤️❤️
JUST WOW! I can't imagine the amount of talent and training to dance this smoothly, all in one take. Excellent!
選曲、ダンス、背景、容姿、どれも素晴らしいですが、なにより素晴らしいのは楽しんで踊ってるところです。
見ている私まで楽しくなってきます。
I feel like the music comes out of her soul.
I shed tears of joy watching this exuberant performance.
Quite beautiful.
I agree, it was a wonderful performance!
Hope she sees this, bro. (cringe)
No wonder they were called the Roaring 20s. You bring it all back to life ! Thank you, thank you, thank you Maria !!
She's fabulous, and she's having so much fun, making it a complete delight!
Great! Love the way she combines elements of the Charleston and the Black Bottom. Very lively and cool routine. 🙂👍
Shared this on Twitter. It's just such a treat watching the next generation (I'm 53, so basically just an old teenager with half a life's experience in the trunk) having discovered and reliving the many joys of yesterday.
Carry on. Cheerioh.
The music is inside her and it is an explosion of pure joy !

Probably one of my most favorite Charleston performances : full of happiness, healthy youth and feminine sassy grace. I also like the urban setting with the water, adding a holiday vibe to the dance.. 🙂Thanks for sharing !
My great grandma taught me the Charleston when I was 10 years old. I’m 64 now but that style has remained in my dancing all my life…it’s so fun!!! 😃
So good, the smile on her face show and transmit happiness !
I give her major props for learning this to a level that it looks as natural as walking. 23 Skidoo to all you cats and jammers out there in Vaudeville.
This brings me joy. Her exquisite dancing and the lively music is good for the soul❤
Maria, what an effortless, marvellous and without doubt, timeless performance of artistry. For a moment, you brought distant history to life
Wow Maria, If I tried to do any part of that fabulous recreation of yesteryear, I would spend a while recuperating.
You make it look so easy yet gracefully beautiful, unglued and wildly spectacular. Good Job! Thumbs Up.
Looking forward to more.
100 years of History, music, dance, art, fashion, beauty and society explained in less than 2 minutes. This is glorious.
Love her phrasing. It's like she opened a box of Charleston and just poured it out.
I love the exuberance of the Charleston and the way it expressed the feeling of the twenties. Maria's interpretation and choreography here are outstanding. Very well done!
Just amazing!!!
She makes it seem easy, while it's absolutely complicated.
Gracious and beautiful.
It's so funny how we look back on these old things that we now consider as so innocent, wholesome, and adorable. When this style of dancing was in vogue, it was subject to some controversy because it was considered inappropriate. 🙂
why tho I'm confused as to why its considered provocative in any sense
I see why. Gross mating dance.
Bruh, innocent is definitely not a term I would use for Charleston. Adorable is more like it but there is no doubt about it having provocative elements to me. Not to call that good or bad.
Edit: Just reviewing, definitely tame by today's standards. Lol
Looks good fun though. I bet I would be out of breath half way through.
@@carolinpurayidom4570 Probably the way the hips move sometimes. I think the controversy was how it made the woman look. That's often how sexual censorship worked 9and still works).

That's the most perfect dance steps suited to the music I've ever seen! Every change in the dance is perfect to the music!

You may not see this, but I am literally beaming from ear to ear watching you dance. What a fun performance!
So lovely and ebullient! A little celebration of the joy of life. Bravo.
I love unusual words, and consider myself ( and enjoy being ) fairly articulate... But I have never before heard the word "ebullient" !
Thank you sincerely helping improve my vocabulary!

Woa! Cool. You know, when you see this dance in old film clips, it looks comical, partly because of the playback speed is typically a bit fast.. But when you see it done now, in full color, and at the correct speed, by someone who clearly knows every move perfectly, the dance earns new respect. Ma'am I believe you are what they might have called in the 20s, "The bees knees.". ... Wow - I never thought I'd use that phrase.
