That was one of the most authentic roaring 20's versions I've ever seen. She was perfect. Did you notice how well she did the limber arm movements? That is the sign of a professional master. She didn't just dance superbly, she took us back in time.

When I was a little girl, my Grandma took out some photos of her brother and her. She had been a flapper. Right there in the kitchen she busted out the Charleston for me-being very young I giggled the whole time but damn, she could really move, arthritis and all.
Thanks for bringing back a very happy memory of my Grandma dancing the Charleston in her kitchen !!

That was truly cool! Can't believe they did that while plastered with moonshine! But yes, my mom's mom was a "flapper" when she was young in the 20s. In fact she was an "It Girl." She and my grandfather held popular parties at their house in Omaha (Mom remembered the sound of laughter in the living while she was in bed, the phonograph playing loud jazz). When the Depression hit, my grandfather lost his lucrative living and drank himself to death. Grandma had to go to work, so she and Mom moved back to Cedar Rapids to be with relatives and live a very frugal life.

I COULD LOOK AT THAT ALL DAY, NOT ONLY BECAUSE SHE IS BEAUTIFUL BUT ALSO HER DANCE SKILLS ARE SO ACCOMPLISHED.
THERE ARE MANY DANCE SEQUENCES ON UA-cam, BUT NOTHING BEATS SEEING A DANCE FROM BEGINNING TO END.

She's so great! She's not just proficient and authentic, but sincerely immersed in the dance. There are dozens of botched period dance videos out there that are ruined by the dancers persistently putting a camp, winking face on their own endeavors. If you're winking at what you're doing, you shouldn't be doing it. Maria gets that. So genuine!

That was amazing. I never realized that the Charleston was such a sexy dance. Of course Ms. JazzyFeet really captures the spirit of the times and communicates the joy and irreverence of Enoch Light's timeless classic. I knew the roaring 20's were wild but somehow the old grainy photos of my flapper grandmother didn't transmit the euphoria of this performance. Bravo Maria.
