Wow... I've used this same technique to experiment with a hat pattern. When I got to the edges to square it off, I had to remembe r to make sure to check that the back sides and the front sides continued to alternate... that's where it got to be a bit more tricky in terms of having to avoid weaving in extra ends.
I love this way of doing the entrelac.

I was excited when I saw your video!! I had already started doing the alternative entrelac afghan. I love the different pattern that it makes with the vertical bars on one row and the bumps on the next row. I am going to fill in the valleys when I get to the end so that I can create a border all the way around. 😊

Hi, love this version of the entrelac blanket. Can you tell me, how many groups of 11 did you use for the baby blanket, and what are the dimensions of the finished blanket? Thanks in advance :)
Sure! My blanket is about 16" wide which is 8 blocks / groups of 11, and about 21" long after 21 rows of blocks. If I were to do this project again, I would make mine wider; I would aim for 20" which would be about 10 blocks wide with my gauge. I hope this helps you!

Thank you for sharing this I have recently become addicted to Tunisian crochet and now Entralac. I like the ridges on your blanket. What makes that happen? 🌷
I think the ridges are because I use one continuous piece of yarn and turn my work. Whereas in traditional Entrelac, you work all rows in the same direction, which means the yarn has to be disconnected and rejoined for each row.
I've never seen anybody reverse the project during entrelac before .
Did you do that to make the piece reversible or help reduce the curl ?
My main reason for reversing was to keep the project simple. Since I was using a multi-colored cake, I wanted to take advantage of the natural color changes. By reversing, I didn't need to detach and re-attach the yarn, and the colors could change on their own. But I do think the curl is less than on normal tunisian entrelac. Hi! For this project, the rows are worked directly into each other, so you don't have to sew them together. The project is made as one piece, working rows of squares back and forth. Around the 5 minute mark I show how to work the first row of blocks, and then around the 13 minute mark I show how to work the next row. Just keep repeating the process to make as many rows as you want! If you have any other questions or get stuck following the tutorial, leave a comment and I'll do my best to help!

Sorry it's taken me a bit to respond. I think the blanket in the background has 8 blocks, which would mean the starting chain needs to be 8*11 + 1. So 89 chains to start.
I would like to make my blocks 15 stitches so how many do I chain for the starting chain?
Great question! After playing around with the design, I think I've figured out how to make this work. If we don't count the loop at the end of the row that goes into the side, the design in the video is 6 stitches wide by 6 rows tall and calls for 11 chains for each block. With the same idea, if we want our blocks 15 stitches by 15 rows (top/15th row being the slip stitch/fasten off row) we need 15 + 15 - 1 chains or more simply 29 chains. This concept should work for any size block. Double the number of stitches you want and subtract one. Then, follow the pattern concept, and you should be good to go!

How do you measure the length after you have the width like if you have 4 blocks and 4 rows do you measure the 2 blocks up and down or diagonally the 4 blocks thanks Liz
Personally I would measure the 4 blocks that make a "row" that's kind of like a bunch of diamonds touching just at the points. Then the next row up would be 4 more blocks and those 4 blocks would be the same width, just shifted over a little bit because of the way the squares nestle together. But really, I think it comes down to what you're making and what measurements you're trying to achieve. Hope that helps!

What about the edge? Do you just leave it like that or you make other stitches on each of the edges? Please answer
It's really up to you! I typically leave the edge as is, but you could crochet a border along the edge, like single crochet stitches. Another option is to "fill in" the jagged edges with a triangle shape to create smooth edges. How many chains do I need for a 10 blocks blanket can some answer and tell me how many chains I need
So it would be 10 times 11, and then add 1 more chain. So 111 chains to start.

How many blocks for a blanket did you do?
Off the top of my head, I'm not positive. But if i had to guess, I probably did about 16 blocks wide for a baby blanket. The blanket ended up about 28inches wide if I remember correctly.
How would you change colors if doing 2 color stripes????
If it were me, I would detach the first color at the end of my first row of blocks and then attach a new color for my second row of blocks. I like to attach my new color by creating a slip knot in the yarn, inserting my hook where I want to work, putting the slip knot onto my hook, and then pulling the slip knot up to create my first stitch. Hope that makes sense :)
So, at the end of each row, chain six and continue?

Quick question...if your 1st row has 11squares does the 2nd row have 12 squares? If’s that’s the case would all odd # rows have 11 squares and all even rows have 12 squares? Thank the

Actually, all the rows will have the same number of squares. If we added an extra square in a row, we would be too far "beyond" the previous row and would end up adding squares when we crochet the following row. The squares "nestle" together. Does that help?
