Love this stitch and the detail you explain it with is amazing.. I was looking for a pattern for a baby blanket.. This is it.. How can I stop the edges from curling?? And how will I know how many balls of yarn I need?? Thank you again.. Love from London UK 🥰🥰
Hi! Yes, this is a great pattern for baby blankets. Tunisian stitch always tend to curl. You can use a larger hook to avoid this (which can work well for a blanket). At the end you can add a heavy edging and steam block your blanket. For the amount of yarn, crochet the first square, measure it and weight it. With the final dimension you want for your blanket, you can calculate the final weight in proportion. Thia will give you the amount of yarn. I hope this helps! Happy crocheting 💕🧶
I have been looking everywhere for this information. Everyone uses 7 stitches! I didn't want to use 7, I wanted 10. I like the technique, but don't want to make a billion little squares. Making a throw with worsted 4 yarn. I wanted it more lightweight, not heavy. So now I know the formula if I want to make 12, 15 or 20 stitch squares. BIG thank you 💓 I subscribed!
Gosh, I know it's been 4 years since you posted this, but I have been searching for a tutorial like this forever! Thank you soooo much!! I've mastered it already and have started a blanket for my first grand baby! I'll forever be grateful!
I've watched quite a few entrelac videos, and yours is honestly the best. Good, clear narration and easy color differences. I am happy that I found this, thank you. 🎉
I’ve been crocheting for about 10 years and just thought I’d check this video out to see what entrelac was. I think I’m in love with crochet all over again! This will be my next project! Thank you for such a clearly made instructional video. ❤️👍
Thank you for the video. I've seen this stitch in several videos and none of them explained it as well as you did. I don't remember any of them talking about 'X' being the chain stitches then do x-2 rows. It makes so much more sense after watching your than others. I am going to try this again now. Update: I have done this stitch by following your instructions and it is so much easier to work and they turn out so much better looking too. Again thank you for this video.
I been crocheting for years and i love learning new styles and stitches... I have watched many videos on this stitch and Yours is the best explanation on making a blanket... Others were good but didnt explain how to make it square for the blanket... I am making a baby blanket and this is perfect.... Thank you
Thank you so much for teaching this in such detail. I think this is my new favorite for making blankets and pillows. Once the squares are done, I can go back with either yarn or floss and "cross stitch" in the tiny squares of each tunisian stitch. The "join as you go" method of making a large piece out of smaller squares is what I love about this the most. Thanks again!
Bonjour. Bonne continuation
Awesome video and explanation.. I've watched so many videos trying to get this to work. I'm not sure why, but this one is the trick!! thank you so much
I'm not sure what it is about how I crochet but x-3 works for me to get the perfect square. Thank you for sharing these instructions I'm excited to work up a project!
Hello! Perfect instructions! Thank you. But I think I miss something, because in my slip stitch row there is only 9 slip stitches. I review the video many times and didn't get where is my mistake. I put 10 chains on the hook, made 10 stitches in each row, but in the last one, the count doesn't close. Could you help me, please? Love from Brazil!
I think she misspoke. You should have x-1, so 9, slip stitches. The slip stitches don't account for the first vertical/first loop, on the hook. The '10th'.
Thank you so much for the excellent tutorial! I really appreciated the logical way that you presented it. Once I understood that the construction of this pattern is the same concept as C2C in terms of it starting at a corner, your terms of "initial" and "final" squares finally made sense. 😊
I really like this stitch. I have tried it and love it. I saw another video that first chained across many stitches and then proceeded to make the box. What I find with that is the box doesn't turn out very straight. Your method is better because you are only working one square at a time and then connect . I will try your method and I am sure I will have success . Thank you for your beautiful work. I followed your crochet heart video and they turned out beautiful .
Thank you! I'm so glad you likes the tutorial. I assure you that the boxes will look tight and straight :) and you can choose their size also. Give it a try! Happy crocheting for you 💕🧶
What a brilliant demonstration. Well done ! I have 6 blankets on the go but as soon as l completed 2 if them l still start this Tunisian entrelac style. Ty.
Thank you for this video. It is very helpful in understanding how to do it. You explain it quite well and I'm able to remember what I'm supposed to at the right time. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❤
I love this! I like the way you crochet one square at a time and by adding them on, they give a straight edge to the work. I also like the yarn you use, it looks easier than some of the fluffy yarns that can ‘split’ making it difficult to ensure the entire stitch is picked up. I am definitely going to try this, thank you so much for a great video, you explain it so well, 👍
Thank you for this tutorial I’m finding this better than the others I found. I’m using up my scraps of Aran yarn to make a blanket. Using your 10 ch and 8 rows a 6.50 hook each square measures approx 3 inch square. Thanks again 👏❤️
LOVE!!!! Thank you for taking the time to explain in detail to the very last square. Am an intermediate crocheter and new to tunisian crochet. This is a fabulous project and less complicated then it looks. Will be looking to learn new techniques once this project if finished 🤟💖
At 4:00 you say we should have the "x" number of slip stitches, but if you are skipping your first chain on your foundation chain you are actually only stitching "9" and the tenth loop on the hook comes from the previous set. This also means you would have x-1 slip stitches unless you chained 1 on your initial foundation chain (prior to beginning the second row). Therefore, you need to account for this change when determining how many rows you need, so (x-1)-2, in your case this is 7 instead of 8. (for reference with a foundation chain of 10, worse weight level 4 yarn and a size 5mm crochet hook, you will be left with a 4.5cm square under these adjustments. You will also have to double work the corners in order to keep your count correct but this shouldn't be much of an issue. If it is, moving to a larger hook size can help loosen the work, thus allowing you to work more stitches into the same space.
25soccer18 I’m on my third try making this blanket. I keep starting over because the blanket looks crooked and the squares are not square but I keep adjusting stitches here and there according to the video count. I knew there was something wonky. Thank you for pointing this out!
I've been searching for help with my blanket it ended up looking like a diamond instead of a square. I'm not sure I'm following you, do I chain one before I start the slip stiches? Will this fix it ending in a diamond?
This is the best video I’ve found to explain this pattern. My only concern is all the ends you going to have to sow in once finished. Anyone with any tricks or tips to make that part less painful
I finished one side of boxes for a small pillow to start as a project . And my squares did come out straight on all sides. I like Tunisian style crochet it doesnt hurt my wrists. Its more relaxing. Its a great way to use old scraps of yarn because each square can be different or the same. Lots of fun.😁💕
Thank you for making this video, I understand what you're doing but I still have trouble when closing the square with slip stitches and moving to the next square, not sure where the last slip stitch goes because there's not a vertical line for that last slip stitch. Help! Please :-)
New subscriber here. I love this tutorial. You explain this stitch so well. Thank you. Ive gotten C2C down and now want to atrempt this one. This stick makes the blanket look so soft and more fabric like than the C2C and I love that. My son does not like the "holes" in the blanket.
In this time of uncertain Covid-19... I'm looking to learn a new skill... and Interlac is something that I always want it to learn......looking for a good video....I came across to your video and wow....so well explained, the camera is always at the right position and yours explanations are clear. Bravo and thanks. Take care.
I've always avoided doing this because I thought it was so difficult, but you make it look so easy. Thank you. Would it be good for an adult blanket and what size squares would be good to use?
Ни слова не поняла!!! 😆. Но видео снято просто отлично! 👍🏻Спасибо огромное! Очень интересный способ вязания из квадратов. Обязательно воспользуюсь этим способом! 😘
In the initial type pf square, when we are done yarning back our X-1 chains, do we have to yarn in the hole in which we started the intial X-1 initials chains in, or in the hole that is above it ?
