Very very happy with your great description of entrelac. I did it a few years ago and forgotten. Just watching you is marvellous. I cannot thank you enough

Hello Tilly. I love your instructions. I’m using three colours pink white and orange. Looks lovely but I’m getting confused with the ends of small blanket. First row of pink I have 30 squares after completing 6 rows of squares I have got 32 squares. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks!
I have watched quite a few tutorials for this stitch and I love your no nonsense, no faffing way of teaching. I have done honeycomb Tunisian stitch but struggled with this until now. Big thank you x 🏴
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. I have crocheted for 58 years and this is the most wonderful, comprehensive, well done tutorial I have ever had. I have subscribed.
Thank you so much !! Your instructions are very clear and easy to understand. I’m going to start a baby blanket for my great granddaughter. Thank you again, you’re a great teacher.
Tilly, I did three entrelac blankets clear back in 2015 but they were worked in the round. It's now March of 2022, and I was so thrilled to just happen to come across this video tutorial to make the straight rows. I made my squares a little bigger as each one has 6 bars. I made 12 squares wide and 14 squares high and did 3 rows of single crochet as the border. I ended up with a 36"x40" blanket. When I started my second row I didn't go into the bar but went into the actual stitch above it. This got rid of the little ridges and the blanket lays flat. I used a variegated yarn that is similar to yours along with white and it turned out absolutely beautiful. I had already made 10 baby blankets for our church and a new great-great niece that's due in a few weeks and I was getting board but doing a blanket this way has brought the fun back into crocheting. I just started my next blanket in turquoise, dark to light variegated turquoise along with white. It looks so pretty with just 4 rows done so far. Thank you for this tutorial and waking up my joy of crocheting.
You are very welcome! 🌹 You certainly keep yourself busy and you're very generous to make so many blankets for other people... I love that! Turquoise is my favourite colour, so that sounds wonderful!
This is well done so simple, I have done the c2c entrelac now I want to do the rows but I want to do 14 stitches by 17 rows. Do I do chains in multiples of 31 times the amount of blocks I need to get the width of the bed I’m making it for ?
Hi Julie, I'm so pleased you like it! You can either keep the zigzag edge or put a straight edge on it... I've made a video to show how it's done, which you can find here ua-cam.com/video/7ILiRAnqPY0/v-deo.html
Hi Tilly, Beautiful pattern, I can’t wait to try it! I don’t know if I missed it, but would you mind letting me know how many yard of yarn is needed from each color for a baby blanket. Thanks so much, Julie
Hi Julie, I’m so pleased you like it! It was quite some time ago that I made this blanket, so I’m sorry but I don’t know how many yards of yarn I used . Xx
I love how thorough you are in your explanations! The only thing I am having trouble with is size. I made a swatch. If my squares are 2" and I want a 42" blanket width, do I divide 42 x 2 = 21. Then times 21 by the stitch multiple? Please, please help!
@@TillyDouglas Thank you so much! I have had other youtube designers tell me to just make it c2c or keep ripping it out and start over! Ummm - no! So, thank you so much!
Hi , i love this baby blanket. Color was creme and a varigated. Could you please tell me the color and manufacturer? Thank you for going as slow as you did. I look forward to watching other videos of yours. Thank you. 🐾🐾
Great video! The problem I face with Tunisian stitches is that they curl up a lot. How to survive that? And also how do you make a border for this zigzag edge?
Hi Bhavani, I'm so pleased you liked the video! As you will see from mine, there is some curling, it's just the way it is with Tunisian crochet. You can lessen it somewhat by experimenting with different size crochet hooks and also adjusting your tension. But I do find that as you continue with your piece the curl automatically starts to lay flatter. And then when it's finished, blocking flattens it completely. I do have a video on my UA-cam channel to show you how you can do the edging which I hope you will find helpful
In the baby blanket you show at the start you tell that you used the multicolored yarn on the white squares. I did that and at the end I slip stitched but do I change to the white yarn right after that? and then how do you do the rest of the border? I hope that makes sense.
Are you talking about the triangle parts? When I got to the corner I just slip- stitched and finished it off then went to the white yarn on the side triangles. When I got all 4 sides I did a row of single crochet then a row of double crochet and a final row of single crochet. That was with the multi color of blue. I'm not too sure if I answered your question. There are others that do tutorials. One is Tilly Douglas and one is Naztazia (not her real name). ua-cam.com/video/7ILiRAnqPYO/v-deo.htmlsi=AY51atcljTDNwM68 Hope that helps more than my explanation.
@@mandygroves1876 Keep pausing or rewinding the video Mandy... I really hope you crack it because it's such a lovely relaxing stitch to do once you've learnt it ... I know it can be very frustrating to start with because I was just the same, but all of a sudden I got it! Good luck with it!
Hi. I was trying to crochet this blanket. I used group of 9 + 1. I chained 127. For some reason Im doing something wrong. I end up with 3 extra chains. In the written instructions it says to crochet the square till I have 3 rows. But in your video repeat the rows 4 times. I'm confused.
Hi Cristina, I've made a video explaining how you can do the edging for the Entrelac blanket which you can find here >>> ua-cam.com/video/7ILiRAnqPY0/v-deo.html I hope you find it helpful 👍😀
That depends on a a few things... what size blanket you want (there are lots of different sizes of baby blankets). What type of yarn you use. What your crochet tension is like.
Ok thank I been thru granny square baby blanket about 40 to 42 inches I think, also use 4.0 or 4.5 hooks and I use yarn is WI (woman institute yarn) I use most of time it a good name.
Yes that's right... In the beginning I was showing you how I made the baby blanket which was starting with chaining 100 .... When I moved on to the small example piece I chained 37 for that .... It works out 9 chains for each square you do plus 1 extra .... So for the baby blanket I did 11 squares across which is 11 x 9 = 99 +1 = 100 ... For the example piece I did 4 square across for my first row of squares so 4 x 9 = 36 + 1= 37
I've never made them bigger, but I don't see any reason you can't .... You could try doubling them ... If I was you I would do a sample test so make your chain length and see how it works out when you make the squares bigger x

@@TillyDouglas The way I made it it is a c2c but after watching your video again and again I think I figured it out. Thank you so much for your response!
Hi Virginia, for the first row of each square you pick up 5 chains... Then you go back along the first row and pick up another of the chains... You do that for each of the other rows in the square
Hi Terry, It depends on the yarn you use, your hook size and your tension... So unfortunately I can't tell you how many you need to do...
