I have been holding onto this for quite some time now (actually a few years, although I have been using it) and thought that this Holiday season was the best time to unveil it and share it with all of you.
It is amazingly easy, so much fun to do and is absolutely beautiful.
Now you don't have to worry about anyone seeing the WRONG side of your Entrelac that you spent so much tie on.
And the awesome thing is, this one is faster than traditional Entrelac!

After watching your video so many times and trying this so many times I was able to switch it up a little and go from the middle with one square and keep going round and round with turning at the end of each round. Thank you for the inspiration.
Hi Georgia! What you are describing is a version of Entrelac in the Round. I haven't put out a tutorial on that yet, but have one planned. Maybe I will have to do it sooner...

Beth, you hold the yarn the same as I do. I took a class years ago from our local rec department - I had just become engaged, so my ring held my yarn on that finger! I've been divorced for years now, but I have many 'cheapo' rings that I have gathered over the years - usually with big glass stones that I use for holding the yarn on my ring finger. So for those who want to try , it's over the index, under the bird, and over the ring finger held by the ring from coming off that finger.
I have always wanted to try this stitch but never felt comfortable. I have been crocheting for about 50 years. Your explanation made me ready and willing to give it a try. Thanks you so very much. I truly appreciate your channel

I sometimes use squared of 5 instead of 7. It's a simpler multiple. Also, I sc the top "row" so that I don't have difficulty slipping into the top loops

I have been looking for a pattern like this and I finally found it. Thank you. I have a bunch of scrap yarn and my daughter wants a new blanket for her new bed and she picked this type. I didn't want to have to keep changing colors as it can get time consuming and make the project boring after so long. This pattern will keep it interesting as my daughter is picking the colors and the order to use them. Thank you for helping a mom out. Love your video.

Updated: This is great. This is easier than knit entrelac and it does just flow off the hook when you get it down. I'm using Red Heart Jumbo Stripes and was working on it during an open house at church and got plenty of compliments and comments on the texture and the look. This is my first foray into crochet entrelac and I'm sure it will be a go to when designing. Thanks.

I love your videos and tunisin crochet I have a question when you slip stitch up the side i'm not understanding which one it is , also I am not understanding how you chain six and then turn do you have a video on making the whole blanket or a longer sample thank you
I find that chaining 1 before doing the slip stitches makes it easier to join to he block on the next row easier thought that it would be helpful for your future projects have a blessed weekend. Liz

Quick question. Your initial row of blocks, when you turn to go back do you consider that a long row or a short row. I’ve done this project several times and love it but each time I’ve turned then filled in with the shorter row. That makes it so that I have a very small corner making your other corner finish video not match exactly.
I find going through 1 loop when joining to block make a neater and reversible looking join hope this helps have a blessed weekend

How do I plan out a blanket in entrelac?
I am not sure about your question. It would depend on many things: desired size of blanket, yarn, hook, your tension. I guess I would say make 1 square, measure it and then figure out the dimensions you want. It would also depend on if you wanted to do the Entrelac in Diagonal or Horizontal. I have tutorials posted.

Thank you for sharing this. When you slip stitched the 2nd square finishing row one. You slip stitched again I didn't catch that. What edge did you stitch on? Did slip stitch across the row of slip stitches that you just made? I haven't watched the entire video yet. 🌷

Do you go thru two loops of the stitches that go up the side of the block. I know you go thru the one bar coming across. I hope this make sense.

Not exactly. If I am understanding you correctly, you want to yarn over and pull through 1 loop on the furthest to the left of the widest rows as a Chain 1 - THEN, you will yarn over & pull through 2 all the way across, like you did on all the other squares.

Quick question: on most of the squares on the return pass, you would yarn over and pull through two. But on the one square, you yarned over and pulled through one first and then yarned over and pulled through two. How do I know when to do that?

Hi Karen! The music is very important to me. There are so many non-music crochet channels on UA-cam and frankly, they are just boring. Imagine watching your favorite movie or TV show without music. The music "frames" the video.
I have had a few comments like yours over the years, but many, many more telling me how they like the music. Over the past year I have lowered the volume considerably, so that it appeals to more crocheters, but it just can't go any lower. I am sure you understand.

OMG, you weren’t kidding when you said this is addictive!! I can’t stop! I have a question though: I am making a baby blanket with Lion Brand Mandala (the really big skeins), in the Golem color way, which is muted pinks and purples. Even though the stitches are coming out really nice, I’m not getting the variation of color like you got in the blanket you show in this video. I always start my yarn from the center of the ball. I don’t re-wind it on a winder. Maybe that’s the issue? How do you start yours…from the inside or the outside?
Hi Debbi! I do it exactly like you do. I believe the issue may be that the yarn you are using has much longer lengths of color than the one I used. The Mandala Centaur that I used has 11 or 12 color changes throughout it's length. That is the only thing that I can think would be causing this, but I am sure yours is still gorgeous! Bethany
@@ThimbleHooks you know, in taking another look I realize that it’s not as different as I first thought. I think it’s because I’ve only just started…it feels like I’m not seeing much variety because so far I haven’t! Plus, I have this sort of weird thing (I can’t be the only one, can I?) where once I’ve been working on a project awhile, I get sick of looking at it. Like, I start to doubt my color choice. But if I step back and look at it objectively, it’s actually pretty nice!

I guess I am not sure of the miss here Colleen. Regular Entrelac has 1 "good" side and 1 "bad" side. As I show in my project here both sides are "good" using my technique that has several differences from regular entrelac. Beth
I think instead of binding off and clipping the yarn and starting back on the beginning side of the row she turns her work and starts on the finish side of the last row.
Ok so, I’m a crocheter, but I’ve never done entrelac. However, I want to make THIS EXACT PROJECT, so I’m determined to understand.
If I’m correct, your actual blanket is 12x16 squares . However, in your sample you made your first row only two squares. For the real thing I would chain enough to make the blanket the width I want (11 times however many squares I want, plus 1), make all those squares, then turn and do the 2nd row the way you do row 2, and so on.

You need 12 squares wide for your starting chain, so 12x11+1.
There are 17 rows like row 1 (12 squares), and 16 rows like row 2 (11 squares); so a total of 33 rows. That would be about a 30 inch-ish blanket before edging.
Yes, continue on with what I show you; 12, then 11, etc.
In my Enrelac Playlist I show how to do Edging, Filling in Triangles, the Ruffle, etc.

OK, so I got the technique. Did I miss the part in the tutorial where it can go from being a strip to being made wider? Once I get it as long as I want it, how to I get it wider? Do I have to cut the yarn and start it in a new place or turn it go a different place?

Not yet Georgia. Written patterns are VERY difficult to read for Entrelac. The video is much easier to follow. In fact, I have had many crocheters tell me that watching my video was the only way that they were able to learn this as the written patterns they had seen were not helpful. I do plan to write it all down for my website at some point in the next several months though. Bethany
Do I use the I hook or the J hook?
Hi Yolanda! Sorry, I missed this. I am not sure which yarn you are using, but my rule of thumb for this would be to go up at least 1 (2 if you know you make your stitches tight) hook size from what your yarn calls for. Hope that helps! Beth

I'm lost. I'm familiar with entrelac. I made 8 rows of 11 and plus one. I finished all the squares for that row. I've spent hours following the video because I want to learn. The small swatch doesn't translate to my long row when I crochet along. I've made many entrelac 11 inch squares with changing colors. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Are there written instructions for this?

@@ThimbleHooks I'm sorry. When you complete the first 4 rows, it looks like a cross or a four leaf clover. First part of pattern is complete. I've made 12 rows ×11 plus one. I've completed the first row of entrelac diamonds or squares. Do I make crosses ...one after another ( completed rows) after I turn my work, or do I do your row 2 across and then row 3 across? Your sample only is 11×2 plus one. You're building vertically. It's not translating to me how to build horizontally across a long, completed first row. I hope my problem makes more sense, and it seems I'm the only one not comprehending your beautiful video. Thank you again. I admire your talent in doing the video and teaching a fun project. 😀
Work row 2 until the end of the row, then start row 3 until the end of row, etc. Hope this makes sense.
