He was 72-years old when he performed this wonderful song. I can't hear it enough. He sings it better here than he did in the original recording. He just kept getting better through the years.
I had the joy is hearing him perform in Reno 1987 or 88 as a one man show at a dinner theatre. I was blown away with his tremendous talent. He performed for two hours. My favorite concert.
Totally and completely moved by this performance. I would like to thank the the videographers who captured this. Without them we would have never had the privilege to witness this extremely special moment in musical history.
what a genius and such talented individual Glen Campbell was as was his ability to touch and accentuate an audience, we miss you Glen as we always will but we have the memories...
FFS, I just discovered Glen C.. Grew up with him on the radio. Memory fades, now I have some musical appreciation and education.. I had NO IDEA this guy was so gifted...
I just heard this on the radio in my car today and it sounded so great to hear again. This "live" version is just amazing. Now I remember just how great he was . Wonderful song and voice and the whole band fabulous.
Jimmy Webb's masterpiece and the great virtuoso guitarist, singer and interpreter of the heart, Glen Campbell, in this timeless delivery at 72 years, two years before being diagnosed. From 1967 to today this resonates in our souls when we know the feeling of having to say goodbye when we don't want to leave, a breakup not intended, pride and egoism coupled with the youthful naivete of the world to come at us. The thought of if we had talked without masks, absent the defenses, I was adrift in my fool's paradise, if only we had known how to do it, how to live life, if somehow, we had talked it out: life's greatest regret.
You are so missed, thank you for these tears on my face that cleanse my soul and make me ready for another day. A day that keeps me one step closer to the ones I have lost and miss so very much, including you Glen!
Wonderful, paramount, extraordinary!! I can't find the words to define how much amazement, melancholy, nostalgia, and awe cause me to watch this video. It is a mixture of many things, but above all, it is the figure, the soul, the presence of Glen on stage, filling the atmosphere with his unparalleled talent. He transmits everything, radiates the space with the wonderful metal of his voice, and you can only, on the one hand, miss him terribly, and on the other, be grateful for having been born in an interval of time that allowed us to share, in some way, the history and course of life with this giant of universal music.
My first memory of Glen was when I went to the drive-in theatre in 1969 to see True Grit with my 5th grade school teacher (later KIA in Vietnam) and a few schoolmates. Those were the days when we didn't worry about the world around us and enjoyed ourselves. Since then, Glen has been one of my favorite artists. Thanks, Glen, for sharing with us your talent!!
He doesn't need the practice, those practice year's were spent as a youngster in Arkansas! He was a Master and so many have no clue just how damn good he was!
In this modern era where almost every live performance is either lip syncing to a prerecorded track ... the Eagles, etc. .... he did this tour because he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and music was his life. I'll be 68 next week. My entire life I've always said that groups should sound as good on the LP as they did live. I grew up in the era when the best music of all genres was made. I've listened to this song thousands of times, and every time it evokes many emotions. I know God exists because I left my college boyfriend ... thank the Lord .. and I lived 4 hours away, and played this song over and over on the drive home .. later, when the hurt was gone, I replaced it with. Thank ,God and Greyhound you're gone ... cheers. Patricia
This one is currently winning the title of what song do you genuinely love right now more than any other, no contest imo, reading something about Dave Stewart and others involved with this stuff, that'll do for me .
I cannot find sufficient superlatives to describe Glen's incomparable/unrivalled/unequalled/unparalleled talent! His perfect pitch vocals always match his mesmerising fretboard work! His perfect live renditions never fail to impress! A unique man, whose modesty was what also set him apart.....he maybe didn't realise how truly talented he really was; something that we all have no problem in recognising and celebrating, courtesy of his musical legacy! Rest in musical peace Glen.
I grew up in Albuquerque and this song brings so many memories and of my family long gone. Glen used to hang out in Albuquerque, if I remember correctly my older friend said he had friends there.
Glen, you always will be the greatest. So simple on the surface, never afraid to do the obvious, but somehow deeply intuitive and emotionally turbulent.... still waters that run deep, and musical aesthetics in the best of casual complexity and taste. We love your music Glen, and always will.
I'm so thankful his family and other musicians supported him for this final tour. It feels like I've listened to all of his songs a million times or more, but gee, what guitar skills. I know his background. I still think Jimmy page is best guitarist, but glen does the same caliber. They both use their whole hands. They hold a pick, but also play the strings with remaining fingers. Almost like a backup player. Keith urban credits glen with giving him the best advice. Which he took. Practice and practice til your fingers bleed, then practice some more, find your own sound. There's a video somewhere with Keith and John Mayer duuet of don't let me down. Mad skills. All this computer BS and backing tracks of today. As weird as it sounds I'm thankful I'm old enough to have experienced live shows with real talent.
He's sang that song a billion times but it's like the first time. He sings it for us all not him. God Bless.
I've always loved Glenn Campbell even when I was a kid . I'm now 67 and still loving him and his music.
He was 72-years old when he performed this wonderful song. I can't hear it enough. He sings it better here than he did in the original recording. He just kept getting better through the years.
Wow that’s nice, enjoy listening to his songs and i will love to watch him perform live.. so how is life treating you?
a powerhouse

Yes, that s right
Love more as I get older!!
Glenn is an absolute legend.
God given talent, thanks for a lifetime of music...

Wow just wow ....can he play that guitar ....underrated talent
I am now 80 years old and just starting to appreciate the great talent of Glenn Campbell. I wonder how did I miss him.
I miss this guy...my all time favorite artist...grew up listening to Glen's music. Hey and Jimmy Webb were the best combo.
I can't imagine the what a treat it would be to hear Glen and Eric Clapton together on guitar. I think Glen's talent was under appreciated by many.

RIP!!!! Glen 🙏 what a guitar 🎸 player ! Makes goose bumps on my arms!
I grew up with Glens music playing in our home. It made it richer. What a talent! 💛
Hi Lisa
@@michaelsmart8865 hi my chael
Took me 60 years to appreciate this man’s talent on vocals & guitar, the complete package 😊
That could be me, writing that - cave here after watching him perform Gentle on my Mind - search 'gomm - terrific guitar solo'...
That solo at 1:32 was amazing Glen said I'll play one flipped to his Bridge pickup on the Stratocaster. It was so melodic like all of Glen's solos!
It was already on the bridge too

I found this video and am crushed…I live 10mi from the Troubadour and somehow missed Glen Campbell there.
Pain…
I live several blocks away so you can imagine how I feel.
Dear Glen, I can tell you been practicing and continue to in heaven. Your voice perfect pitch, always.

The songs of wonderful childhood memories on Am Radio 😍 HS Class of 1975
Amazing talent . I've loved his music my whole life . He was in early onset of dementia and read this off the teleprompter . Wow . Legend !
Stunning!
He kept it all, reminds me sitting next to my dad watching his show as a child.
Great request. Wonderful analysis Harri!

I love Glen Campbell from Japan.
The richness of his voice is astounding. There was no vocal support on this, just Glen, and it sounded like a choir! I was at this show. Superb.
Perfect pitch and a bell tone voice
I loved the man so much in my teen. His voicing, playing everything up to the mark. Thanks to his family for keeping Glen alive.
God bless you Glen my dads fav singer RIP you and dad Fred ❤❤
I miss him so much. Absolute master. His vocal talent will not be matched in perhaps hundreds of years. His guitar is that is a savant.
I love the depth he brought to these old songs with age. Also the Strat Master.
