Once I discover that someone is manipulative and chronically dishonest, I am so done. I lose all respect and trust. I will withdraw myself because I have to protect my energy as someone who is highly empathic. I refuse to be manipulated, devalued and taken for granted because I have so much to give to the people I connect myself to.
This is so me. I can be open, friendly, give skin off my back, but once I see they are truly as you described I am done. I may forgive you, but you are not allowed at my table ever again. No more of manipulation and lying.Not to mention the whole be a bigger person doesn't work because I noticed we already were bigger persons 99% of time.
As an INFP I was ghosted far more frequently than when I have been given the slip and this was done by other types. It takes so much time before the vault is permanently shut. I was befriended by many who claimed they would not breach my boundaries and time over would disrespect them over and over again. Perhaps they were unaware of doing this, maybe not but irrespective if you are going to continue to behave in a way that I have expressly communicated in no uncertain terms is not something I tolerate then I no longer respect you ergo you are no longer my friend. I don't dismiss someone who has disregarded those boundaries once or twice but rather repeatedly. The problem often is that people don't listen or take us seriously, they don't see the red flags and they don't care until the gate has closed.
