In our latest Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video we take you through our top 5 playstyles ranked in order of our personal preference.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

At 63 I still play Skyrim often. My obsession started when Oblivion came out. I stood in line at midnight on 11.11.11 just so I could race home at 1am to play Skyrim. This video brought back so many memories. Thank you. Ten thousand bows of gratitude.
You're a legend man
Velo! In my own mind, yes. But then, aren’t we all?
Absolute legend👌🏻

Hell yeah, love to see the older gaming crowd.
The best play style is actually escaping Helgen and restarting.
Wtf lol

It’s sad that this is true
New in Skyrim so I don't get it

True man went with ralof
When you go to the College of Winterhold to be a master mage but you come out a Stealth Archer.
Lol
The first time I played Skyrim I did the college of winterhold quest-line start to finish as a heavy armor two handed warrior using the ebony blade
Barely used a drop of magicka
Every profile I have I want to be a mage but eventially give up and become a warrior.

I never get more than 2 hours into a playthrough without turning into a stealth archer

Stealth Archer since November 2011.

Oh really? Have you played the Elder Cheese Dragonborn?
1. Use only shouts
2. Collect every Elder Cheese wheel and slice in the entire game
3. Complete civil war and pretend you willingly became the villain so the empire and nords unite together to attack you for hoarding all of Skyrim's cheese.
4. Marry Alduin

I even started the game as a Kahjit female once to cure me of this just to force me to a different character and play style....didn't work. That first Iron Warhammer gets me every time. Oooh...big damage!

It’s the opposite for me, I cannot no matter what manage to break my sneak habit sometimes I’ll get to level 10 or so with a two-handed character than get bored and go back to a sneak
I can't get away from the damn stealth archer!! HELP MEE!!!
Me: Alright, this time, I’m going to be a two-handed heavy armor warrior.
Me 10 minutes later: *Sneaking in leather with a bow*
i always hate playing sneak archer and want to try something new start playing until i'm out of helgen and start again as a sneak archer but want to try something new
Sneak archer is so much fun even though I start off as a tank everytime
What's so funny to me is that I am 100% the opposite. I've tried and tried to do a sneaky archer, but every playthrough I end up being a 2h-wielding, shout-slinging warrior.
I literally just did that hahaha
It's funny how we always fall into the same habits, I'm playing heavy2H right now and it's super hard not to conjure/arrow shit to death.
Me: Trying for the millionth time not to play heavy armor twohander character
Also Me 5 minutes later: VICTORY OR SOVNGARDE!!
Same
I’m relatively new to Skyrim and this is what I’m doing lol. Yeah it’s basic but it works for me
How the hell do you guys enjoy playing Two-handed character? For me personally is the most boring playstyle why? You deal so much damage and that's about it you just swing your weapon and kill cam the enemy repeat.
I really want to play and immerse myself with 2 handed but I just can't. Because after I complete a dungeon I always feels bored after clicking R2 for the whole time.
Atleast One-handed can use shield or dual wield. Archer can be either stealth archer or combat archer and destruction has different type of new spells.
Kinda sad 2 handedjust plain and simple role.
The game wants you to play two handers. Heavy armor + shouts + BIG SWORDS. Fast, fun and satisfying. It's how I imagine someone called the "Dragonborn". Instead of a sneak using magic or a bow? No. Straight into the fight swinging so that I may die worthy of SOVNGARDE!!
@@nzfuryr34 yes I understand the main characteristics of Dragonborn is based on nords since they are the main race of skyrim.
My point is becuase Im doing every class/build in legendary, add story for roleplay and overall enjoy skyrim. And ive done onehanded shield, combat and sneak archer, a pyro mage, cyro mage and even stormmage. But I just cant do 2handed builds.
Yes there's the badass fully equiped with deadric armor and weapons who can kill and conquer everyone but the only thing you do is press R2 to kill everybody and repeat and thats just it.
Keep in mind that im also a fully vanilla player because mods not for me and I collect trophies. I just kinda wish they did more with the 2 handed.
Lets say they added a perk where every 20 increase in lvl lets you increase your 2handed attackspeed or a perk where dragonborn can perform a spinning swing a circular motion of a power attack for axes, warhammers powerattack can break armor or shields literally removing armor from their inventory leaving them expose and greatswords can power stab piercing through enemy armor and body.
This small perks changes 2 handed playstyle and add more to than just pressing R2 powerattack then kill. Yes there are extra perks per 2handed weapons but those 3 perks sucks only 8 perks and only 5 is decent. Compare to onehanded archer or destruction 2handeds kinda plain and boring.
For your video description 😉

I downloaded a mod that turns Magicka into something out of DnD where I have limited spell slots per day and to get them back I need to rest and each spell uses no Magicka but once the slots are used that’s it no more magic for the day, it actually gives me a reason to visit inns.
I just did a playthrough where I played a mage and enchanted a lot of magica regen armor. Then I would just jump around until my magica came back.
Try using conjuration for combat instead of destruction, i think you'll find that overall it's more useful as summons protect you, and cost less magicka over time. Conjuration also does more damage.
That's why staffs are amazing. Still magic, but no using magicka

The real best playstyle is finding Nazeem, saving the game, killing him, and then loading the game so you can kill him again.
Just get the dead thrall spell, kill nazeem and make him your thrall for eternity. Rekilling and reviving is optional
netherrealmshero GORUDO EKSUPIRIENSU REQUIEMU!

"Mage-Archer is a cool concept, I'll try roleplaying it."
*PROCEEDS TO BECOME SNEAK ARCHER*
But the mage-archer is fun playstyle, just try to get quiet casting perk from illusion skill tree and learn bound bow spell and now you become stealth archer with cool blue bow and infinite cool blue arrows
Mage archer is just sneak archer with illusion for quiet casting and invis and conjuration for spawning meat shields and bound bow
I'M A SNEAKY MAGE-ARCHER.
Try illusion archer and rely on invis
Loner Avenue one of my most powerful characters was an illusion archer.
That build was so much fun.
The dark brotherhood quest line gives you this really good armor that just becomes boss once you unlock double enchanting on it.
I almost always opt for a pure mage without armor. The requirements for the build are a bit harsh especially in the early-to-mid phase, but with slightly cheesy fighting tactics and focus on alchemy and enchantment, this build easily becomes viable and immersive.
I tried mage by itself and alchemy by itself and never tried enchantment at all. However, I found out enchantment is the most important skill to max out. Because you can enchant your armour and weapons.
@@unsunghero5150 enchanting is the best skill
@@anon2427 I get 100 on enchanting on every character.
Why does Ysgramor have a shield and a battleaxe? Did he use Wuuthrad one handed? Probably. No wonder the Snow Elves were toast.
Have you seen his statue? Man was a giant.
Have you seen his soup spoon?
Ben Redrow man was Gordon Ramsay
Ysgramor is the Chuck Norris of Tamriel. That is why he has soup with a fork
Yes, in the lore it is suggested that all of the original 500 Atmorans were of giant stature, so much so that Ysgramor carried a double-bladed battle axe with one hand and a shield in the other. It is made of ebon tears that Ysgramor shed on the night the elves burned the 1st Nord settlement. Using lightning to heat the tears and the ocean's swell to cool them, Yngol forged the mighty axe during the night and presented it to his father the next morning. Ysgramor cried out in joy, sadness, and rage and there on the deck of the ship he named the axe Wuuthrad, meaning "Storm's Tears". He also used it to slay Sinmur the chieftan of the giant clans of Skyrim, and hundreds of his kin.
I spend 5 hours building the best character look and style I can think of. then I get to level 10 and decide to do it again.
Xavier Elizardo wait im not the only one who does this
I suggest using the plastic surgery option in riften. It has it's limitations but it's a chance to alter the character and keep playing. (race and gender stay saddly tho...)
@Xavier Elizardo oh, but aren't really locked to one build if don't want to! You can make literal jack-of-all-trades and have different armor sets for different stuff and all!
yup lol
My playstyle right now is a pacifist merchant and it is hard as hell.
Lios Stainer just wondering what rules do you have for that playstyle
No killing anything, only selling to earn money, end goal is to buy every house there is in skyrim even the heartfire dlc ones also no companions.
Lios Stainer that sounds cool. When I play sky rim I'm always an assassin or sometimes I just like to bring on the badass armour, dank cape, ebony blade(secret katana) and mess shit up
Oh you will think differently when you try it, there's a lot of collecting flowers and berries at the start.
Lios Stainer lmfao are you actually serious
The warrior playstyle is very underrated it truly makes you feel like you are the dragon born
You mean it makes you feel like the guy from the ad? You're no less Dragonborn you're an assassin or mage.
I agree. In my mind, dragonborn isn't an archer who slinks away in the shadows or a mage hiding behind spells, but a fierce warrior on the front line, swinging death while his enemies fall back out of fear
My Dragonborn gonna be an actual reptile 😂
@@Bruva_AyamhytGarbage take; mages, archers, stealth builds make you feel much less Dragonborn. As a warrior up close and pure strength you feel much more like the main character.
@@condorhawk8812Idk, I did a mage build where I still fought up close and personal. Ya’ll just have limited imaginations
Every time I start new game, I'm always a heavy armoured tank, with a sword and shield. I tell myself I should try something new, but I can't change my play style, it's engrained in me and it's a classic.

15min later:
"Oh so I can conjure a bow with infinite free arrows"
Eh by the midgame you get so many arrows from pretty much everywhere that they're already infinite(and it helps that they're weightless
Bound Bow is one of my favorite spells in the game, and once you get Silent Casting from the Illusion skill tree, the game's pretty much over.
@@odioalospoopers only reason my I'm a archer, if arrows weighed I wouldn't bother

This, very much this.
Here's how I like to play:
>Be Dark Elf
>Use only magic
>Buy all books Secret-Fire has to offer and level up skills
>Use his suggestion and join the College
>Get one school of magic (preferably Alteration since it's easiest to level) to 100 and use perks on conjuration and destruction
>I prefer to roleplay a bit as a Dunmer escaped from Morrowind in search of power, so I just spend all money on books so I know all spells.
>Get massive magicka pools
>Become Vampire Lord and Master of Winterhold
>Bring every magic school to 100 and buy all the books.
>Necrophage Perk+Ebonyflesh+Guardian Circle=Rain destruction on foes with Arniel Gane's shade and a Dremora Lord as bodyguards
>Farrengar Secret Fire still says that I should join College of Winterhold if I have the aptitude.
Turn him into a sweetroll then
The Formation how do you level up alteration easily?
@@iilustriouspride7130 there's a telikinesis glitch which you can look up. Also another cool way is to use detect life in crowded areas

Zueperno Stril I kinda do that but with a spellsword 😂
A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON!
I've done two handed, sword and board, and tried several magic styles, but I really prefer Khajiit Sneaky Archer/Blade with some illusion thrown in. It's great when you can murder people in a city with the guards standing just across the street. I do the Vampire quest line just to get the best crossbows.
Most of the time when I make new characters, I go with the classic 'Nazeem imposter build'. I create a redguard male character, I then go straight to Whiterun and assassinate Nazeem. I steal his clothes and items and live peacefully in the cloud district.
It's always fun at the start, but I find it hard to level up, considering how Nazeem is someone who never engages in combat or crafts items. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to make this build more effective?
Sneak in people house take their stuff and beat them up
Invest in Speech, Alchemy and Enchanting.
Buy ingredients and echantet items and get rich travel from city to city and get the best prices.
tried sleeping with his wife? might help...;)
Neil Dodd you might want to try asking people if they get to the cloud district
*UPDATE*
I have been playing this build for quite sometime now. All was going well until recently, when the people of Whiterun began taking notice to me. Rumors began to spread that I might not be the real Nazeem, and that I killed him in order to sleep with his wife and inherit his farm.
The rumors were true.
A half dozen guards came knocking on Chillfurrow Farm's door one night in an attempt to arrest me. I grabbed my dagger and killed two of the guards, but I was outmatched.
After stealing a horse from the stables, I am now hiding out in Riften, down in the Ratway.
Does anyone have any advice on how to get out of my predicament?

The best play style is ACTUALLY stabing the graybeard in the back for 2hours to get 100sneak 😂
you can do this at the start of the game. before snaking past/attacking the bear. Just whack loose on Ralof/Hadvar's back
you mean 5 minutes lol
Dual wield daggers to shrink it to like 3m
Yes and i also got more lvl from using muffle
Luckas Jensen Yea but assuming you get up to level 18 from it and leave the cave then everything on your way to river wood is matched to the level. All at the same time you still have the same iron weapons. Idk I like the grey beard exploit better.
Thanks! I know this video is a while ago, but my favorite build is using the Ritual stone and the Aetherial Crown to summon undead armies. There's nothing like beating the boss in Bleak Falls Barrow with a bunch of undead skeevers.
My favourite playstyle is called, the 'lazy mage'

The Guard: Nord. Sword and shield. Always wears the helmet, chest, and shield of his original hold. ISN’T THE DRAGONBORN. His sole mission is to become Thane of every hold, thereby becoming the ultimate Guard.

I'm currently in my first ever playthrough, and am just rocking ut with the shield/one-hand build. It's extremely satisfying setting up combos on my enemies, stunning s clutch of them with a shout, charging in with a power attack, stun-locking them with a good bash, so on and so forth.
Incredibly rewarding, and makes me feel like a real warrior of legend.
Hi there mate, how'd you like the game so far? How many hours do you have already after 4 months? Is it as addicting to you as it was for me?
I used to play it for at least 8 hours everyday when i first got the game, nowadays i have to wait some months to play it every now and then so i can have a glimpse of the feeling of playing it for the first time again. It's never the same after you've done everything in the game, but Skyrim really is a game I'll carry with me forever so i have to work on ways of maintaining the same joy everytime i start a new playthrough, if that makes sense. It's been working very well for the past 6 years, i haven't started a new playthrough in 3 months so i think it's time to do it already :D I love this game
@deviousraul I'm on my first playthrough and have fallen in love. There's so much do do and I keep finding new things. Right now I currently have a very high bounty due to killing many Jarls
How I like to play:
Kill a bandit chief, steal his armor, maximize it (smithing and enchanting) give him an op shield and one handed weapon, sneak everything back into his corpse and dead thrall him. Boom, op dead thrall. Do that two times and you'll never have to fight again, only reanimate now and then. You can get the apprentice stone affect on the aetherial crown and have a bunch of bandit chiefs follow you around at all times as you can cast the force as often as you want and you can even fast travel with them
Brilliant!
Quite an old comment I noticed but is this a temporary summon? Would I constantly have to recast his corpse after say 30 seconds if there is a time limit on the spell?

im doing a stealth archer wood elf for my first playthrough, It can't tell if i made the best or worst choice lol
@@musclemommyenjoyer it is fun af as a first time experience. Play it to learn and get exposed to the game. Then you can change play style easier knowing the game more on your next playthrough. It's just so much fun as a first playthrough, but the issue is that it's too good that you kind of end up playing it to get past hard parts in the game for every character, and you kind of get sucked back into playing stealth archer.
It was my first character not knowing the meme, and now I know how easy is converging a stealth archer
Because that is Ssooo an oblivion build
My playstyle. 1st: pick the wrong race just coz u think it looks cool. 2nd: try to become something u know u cant. 3rd: U messed up everything, and become the only class ur good at. 4th: Its too late to become op so u start a new game and mess it up too.
So true

There's no such thing as wrong race, or play style, any/every character can be overpowered, my favorite is a stealth archer orc with illusion! It's so ridiculous, but fun! Pop his power (take less damage/do more damage) an wreck everything, if anything goes wrong you have an overpowered illusion back up "invisibility/calm" so awesome end game, even dragons can't mess with me!

My favorite build is greatsword executioner, grab a greatsword, put all your perks into that tree, and just tank everything, While doing immense damage. Add in the powers of modding to get one single thing, more decapitation animations, means you’re more deadly and get shit done quicker. And it’s not a balance breaking mod either, it just makes those decapitations more common.
My other favorite is definitely dual war axes and the fire breath shout and an amulet of talos, just melt enemies and than chop em to tiny pieces. This paired with fire damage increases, means you can clear full hallways in seconds. Add on faster swing rate on the axes and fire damage on them, and nothing can stand in your way

Not even a Dragon Mask? I wish that mage based dragon masks were not armor so the Alteration perk would apply. Mage armor I think is called, it boost the armor rating stoneflesh gives the player if wearing all-cloth
Illusion Assassin and Pure Mage builds are my favorite but I also really enjoy a Sword and Board Nord or a 2hand wielding Barbarian as well. I'm my most recent (modded) playthrough I've tried to create a Paladin of Stendarr. Melee with support Magics is a lot of fun.
1: deathbrand dual
2: destruction mage
3:werewolf
4:dragonborn shout
5:fork
Kilo the wolf Wait what is fork? And how can u build a whole character around Dragonborn shouts and werewolf (especially werewolf unless u have a mod that gives u infinite transformations).
David Stratton Fork is a joke, there’s a fork in Skyrim that can be used as a weapon and people like to enchant it to make it op. It u use a glitch u can get 0 shout cool down and can make a fun build where u can make shout combos. And by werewolf he just means a build that uses werewolf a lot which is actually really useful.
SaAd AI Ah thanks. And werewolves r good if u have the mods to make them good (moonlight tales for example, which then u can play as werebear which is cooler if u ask me). The vanilla one is good early on but get worse overtime.
Wait fork like that guy who beat the game with only the fork with no mods or gitchs?
Fork is where you get the only weapon fork in the game and enchant it like a mad man

I did that once... Found some cool weapons and forgot all about it tho. What a fun build, anyway
My favorite is the Spell Sword, with a focus on Destruction (specializing in Fire Magic), One Handed (specializing in Swords), Restoration and Light Armor. You can of course use other One Handed Weapons and Destruction Elements (or even another school of magic in the place of Restoration), but I just love this kind of "Holy Knight" Build. Perfect for a Character who hates Vampires and everything undead. Bretons fit this Build very well because on their magic resistance and their Dragon Hide Ability, but you can theme this Build to be pretty much anything.

New to Skyrim, currently play style is the “ I chuck fireball at everything I see”
That's a pretty accurate representation of what I did when I started playing
so i'm on my first playstyle and sometimes it's bound sword and chucking flames, and other times it's just F L A M E S
It's my favorite destruction spell. Especially when I have to fight multiple targets. I prefer to not actually get near any enemies, have either a follower or a summon take care of it while I spam that spell. But once I run out of magic I just start running around the room until I have enough

“Wait...there’s more than just a stealth archer”
“Always has been”
I’ve always loved to play all ranged attacks - I am mainly in love with leveling in skyrim so my characters generally start the game w/ lv 22 out of helgen keep and soon end up being completely overpowered. The sweet spot imo is the following:
100archery
100sneak
100light armor
100destruction
100restoration
100alchemy
100smithing
100enchanting
50speech
50illusion
This will bring you up to lv54 or similar - so pick your perks - I suggest picking no crafting perks and do crafting runs to just make everything in one go and use dragonborn‘s waking dreams to re-distribute perks. I always use destruction magic along w/ fortify destruction potions or crossbows/bows - In the wilderness, I don‘t care too much when being detected, but in tombs I generally wanna keep quiet. Quiet casting therefore is pretty nice, however not necessary. Quick tip: level archery/resto/destruction with trainers it‘ll take a fraction of the time.
Also, I started playing in survival mode with my latest character and it is a joy and a half!

I tried but I always forget to use the shield...
Its kinda hard to use the shield, and early on its not that great, much better with magic on off hand instead, but once you get some perkz it becomes really good
The best playstyle is using conjuration and companions to amass an army that lives only to serve your will.
Bro lemme know what you think of my comment then XD ^
I always just conjure 2 dremora lords, have stenvar from windhelm, and summon a warrior from sovngarde. I have myself and stenvar in full dragonbone armor. I have the ebony blade and stenvar has an ebony greatsword. In all we make a team of 5 badass tanks.
I have a similar build but with barbas
Wild Productions I use duhnaveir from the soul keirn lydia, serana, and Bran.
Nice
Got really tired of the sneaky char i ususally do & falling back to the 2 hand axe/hammer felt kinda pointless. So this time i did a odd 1 hand destruction mage with physical heavy armor & a shield. Juggling favs in just 1 hand is a lot better then the usual nightmare with the 2 hand weapons. Did enchanting first to cut down destruction casting cost. Used non-armor chest armor the first 20 ish levels for the 75-100% faster mp regen, but once enchating was high enough went full heavy armor. Its nice not having to duke everything & getting in closer also mean dectruction levels faster. Enchanting also helps your follower get a bit more beefy. Physical armor also means you dont have to juggle the usual alteration armor that pure magic users usually do.
My five are:
1) Master of all trades
2) Conjuration Warrior
3) Heavy Armor Mage
4) Pirate
5) Suplex Kitty

Oh yeah
Just did that playstyle. Thought it was fun af but I got too OP from cost reduction and high armor rating
Just started again and going with lightning and no other weapons
@Connor Todd It's just extremely unfortunate that you can't boost spell damage.
Due to this I feel like vanilla Destruction mages stop being very fun to play at high levels, especially on Legendary. Sure, due to the staggerlock from Impact almost nothing poses a real threat to you, but it still takes like 50 fireballs just to kill a bandit. The whole playstyle feels weak and the only thing saving it is one overpowered perk. I would know, a Destruction mage was my first character until I ended up changing her into a Stalhrim Chaos-enchanted sword dual-wielder backed up by stealth and illusion magic.
