Like for example, if you have a Bosmer that's lived their entire life in Cyrodiil surrounded by Imperial culture, either orphaned or their parents just never taught them, how the hell would they have learned how to talk to animals? Or to be exceptionally skilled with a bow at that rate? Some race bonuses really railroad things in terms of roleplaying, races aren't a monolith

True, you'd have to delve deep into some ruins or caves in order to get lucky 😅 you'd be more likely to find and kill rival Bretons than actual bandits
I know this is sort of said in a joking manner, but High Rock probably doesn't actually have much warriors. Considering they have a feudal style system many people are probably content with being farmers or commoners, but it is a claim to fame being an adventurer. It's the same reason Skyrim is filled with bandits despite a warrior culture. Plus, if you can put up a fight and aren't a knight or guard, its financially better to become a bandit which technically is an adventurer.
Not everyone can be a dragonborn. Most normal people are probably already heroic if they kill ONE bandit, goblin, falmer or whatever they have in their corner of the world. Also, the scale of the world we experienced in Skyrim is ridiculously small. Skyrim spans 1/3 of a continent from west to east and you can traverse it on foot in 30 minutes. It should take 30 days if it was real. So, there should be plenty of room for bandits, wildlife and monsters to hide their lair.
Adding the Alternate Start: Live Another Life mod gives another reason to choose a specific race. From Forsworn (Breton) to Argonian Dockworker or warrior in an Orc stronghold.

This is why (at first) I thought the Imperials were the better option: their-- or Tulius's-- willingness to talk. They were interested in peace negotiations with people that would certainly bring hell to Tamriel if they were too p1$$ed. And seemingly weren't that hateful to any of the races, (though they might still believe some correct stereotypes, like all High Elves being blunt and unsubtle, or something).
I think it would be Breton, they've always been my favorite for their society, culture and lore. Ambition is an important trait to have as well. Also Bretons=Best Knights in Tamriel.
I have no idea. Every time Michael got me thinking that “that’s who I am”, he’d then say other stuff about the race that made me go “maybe not”. Argonians, Dunmer, Imperials, High Elves, Bosmer, and Orcs all at one point had me going “yeah, YEAH!, no”. At least I’m certain I’m not a Nord, Breton, Khajiit, or Redguard, though. My favorite are the Dunmer though, so perhaps I’ll choose them.
same, I found myself a little in every race except Redguard, Nords (do love history tho), Orcs, and the Elves (even though I love nature and hate waste, and I view the mortal world much like the dunmer do)
Please make this into a quiz! This was tough, as I see traits of myself in all the races. However, I'd tentatively state I'm a mix of Imperial and Nord
You could possibly still be permitted into the Hall of Valor if you manage to defeat Tsun. So, not all hope is lost, just don't tell the Nords how you died.
Seeing as I am from Denmark, I would have expected to be closest to the Nords. However, I am definitely closet to a redguard with a bit of imperial mixed in
I'm definitely surprised that I align a lot with dark elves. I like to think about and thank my ancestors often and I'm pretty spiritual but it's not a normalized practice. That's pretty mind bending lol. Also touch a bit into the woodelves with nature and a bow. Thanks guys for the great content!!!!
Man I used to watch this channel all the time and completely forgot about it. So happy to have found this channel again! Love everything you guys make!
This is a tough one for me. I found myself thinking a little bit of Argonian, dunmer, Breton, refguard, or nord, but none of them perfectly. It’s incredibly interesting to think about. Great video!!!
Thought I’d be a Breton or Argonian because they’re my favorites. Turns out I’m a Redguard who happens to like Halloween and horror movies and has several Imperial tendencies. Guess I know what my next playthrough’s going to look like
You could go an interesting role playing route of being in Skyrim because you were kicked out of Highrock or just not allowed back because you hold way too different ideals than they do.
I could really go for being a Khajit who secretly wishes he was a Nord and lives in a Breton city, while sometimes going on hunts with Wood Elves right about now
From all the elves, the Dunmer probably are the coolest. Nice blue/grey skin for any type of adventurer unlike the yellow/brown skin of the other elves which look more fancy.
Honestly? I love playing as argonians. Breathe underwater, the race tweak mod that gives them plus 50 passive armor because of their scales, I just love them
First, this was a beautiful and such in depth video. I have never seen so many amazing looking creatures and areas in modded videos before. Second, I am overwhelmingly a dark elf. However also a little bit of an Argonian. It makes so much more sense why whenever I am in Ravenrock I feel so at home compared to other areas of the game. Plus the music that plays while in Solstheim is amazing. And I love the architecture. But the description you gave made me realize just how well I would fit in as a Dunmer.
I'm an Argonian lover through and through and I tried to keep an open mind and truly wanted to see which fit me best..... Argonian was the only one that fit at all lmao
Back in November 2011, at the game's release, Nord was my first playthrough. Every subsequent playthrough since then, and there have been many, Altmer (High Elf) has been my only race. If the snobbish arrogance the Thalmor and other Altmer are known for wasn't part of their demeanor, this race would be close to perfect to me. Of course, being a magicka user, I'm biased since Highborn is the best starting innate skill in the game (in my opinion). Also, I'm not sure why the most popular Skyrim build people pick is a stealth archer. Two-handed/Destruction is the way to go!
I think because it is satisfying to get someone in one shot and to get them before they even realize you are there. Much like being a sniper who loves head shots in gun games. Also stealth archers tend to not be into fighting as much. And using a bow is just so satisfying, and having good archery skills comes in handy when fighting dragons which tend to fly in combat and are more dangerous up close.
By watching this, I was surprised that I identified with the Argonians alongside the Dunmer and Bosmer. I've never played an Argonian before in Skyrim. Maybe on my next playthrough I'll try it out.
@@thaddeushill7080 I have tried all three of them since then 😊👍. I might make another Argonian character though. Playing as a Bosmer stealth archer really fun, but it was a bit too overpowered for my tastes. Honestly, I have tried quite a few times to play as a Dunmer but I always end up as playing something else 😂😅.
I've always played Altmer as I greatly identify with their striving for excellence, value for intelligence, and appreciation for elegance and finery. However, this video has enlightened me to how similar I may be to the Bretons given their very ambitious nature. Thank you all for this insightful take on the various races. 👏
I don’t know, first time I played I was a Breton because I liked the magic resistance and thought half elves half men were interesting. Then I learned about Morrowind and fell in love with the lore and the Dunmer. And I like Khajiit because… skooma drug dealing cats.
Khajiit are my favorite and i wouldn't mind being one despite the prejudice they receive. i love everything about them. Everything from their creation story, to their interpretation of the daedra, to their physiology. I love that to Azura, the most beautiful thing she could've created was cats
Ive probably just missed out on lore but what has azura got to do with khajiit? She's mostly involved with dark elves and before the tribunal she was worshipped by all dark elves as kind of a divine mother sort of role Also I didn't watch the whole video just the races I was interested in if the answer is in there
@@LordMortanius since asking the question I've realised azura is the lady of dawn and dusk and the moon is a big part of her symbology and the khajiit basically worship the moon and what moon your born under can dictate your life etc. But as far as I'm aware khajiit have their own names for the moon's and worship them as their own entity and personally I haven't seen any lore that connects the khajiit with azura I'm still waiting to hear why she's the mother Goddess of the khajiit?
I adored this. Made me really think which I would most be like. And its probably Breton or Wood Elf. I always play Dunmer or Breton. Good stuff! I watched it four or five times in a row in case I missed something. I kept daydreaming about each race as you talked about them. Thank you so much!
Argonian, though I thought I'd be some sort of elf before watching this. Love the video boys, keep up your amazing work. My skyrim and fallout game is so much better now I have y'all and you're my fav youtube channel though dont ask me to pick between you, not happening XD
If this entices you to the scaly boy gang, you have a lot of new mod options to peruse. Farengar the court LIZARD, argonion jarls and housecarls, dominion's more argonians, amazing race tweaks argonian, argonian stewards, turn the argonian assemblage in windhelm into a player home, the dragonborn werewolf replacer that makes you a reptilian werebeast, tail armor mods, the list goes on and on. Plus if you get that religions mod you get to take dope screenshots of praying outside in nice skyrim scenery.
I like picking a random race and not letting any common stereotypes be the driving factor in any of their choices or ways. Like having a hand to hand or weapon specialist high elf, or a redguard mage. I did love listening to this video though
I kinda go about it in a regional way. Pick a place to start and then loosely choose a race that might be residing there. I use alternate start mods tho lol.
I most fit with the Bretons, but I was surprised to learn that I would want to emulate more of the Argonian. I’ve recently started to find a strong interest in Zen Buddhism so they’re lifestyle stood out to me. (The large strong guy that I am though always leans more to the Nords though, hehe.)
I favor the Altmer. I absolutely love their metaphysical views, which also frame their cultural aesthetic. They have this appeal about them, lore-wise, that has a lot in common with real-world Theosophical, Hermetic, Platonic, or Gnostic metaphysical principles, especially regarding the primacy of spiritual and bodily purity, apotheosis, deification, etc. I nerd out with this real-world ancient lore as often as I can, and take inspiration from it; so I get excited when I can project that into our master race in the Elder Scrolls games. 😁
My favorites to play as are an Orc or Breton, but based on this: I would say I'm an Imperial in principle but an Argonian in practice which kind of sucks because they're basically opposites. I do best in small groups of people I know and distrust strangers, stay in my comfort zone, and am very immaterialistic (even when it comes to heirlooms and photos) and present focused but I do recognize the importance of making friends, diplomacy, inclusiveness, commerce, history, and self improvement, I'm just not naturally inclined to any of those things. I've also never really feared death and it doesn't take long for me to grieve, even as a child I just realized it happens to all of us and is unavoidable so it's not worth worrying about, it's just a part of life.
Assumed khajiit because I'm naturally quiet and tend to accidentally sneak up on people. But realized Argonian almost immediately based on the fact that I've been told my personality is unreadable, people tend not to understand what I say right away, and I like nature.
I usually play as a dark elf… I would fit in well with them but honestly I never thought about Bretons til now and I would probably be a good fit with them too
Argonians have always been my favorite race but I was surprised to relate more to Bretons. If I were to do a top 3 it would be Breton, Kahjit and then Argonian
Who knew I connect strongly towards Argonians. I’ve always played as an Argonian simply due to the fact I love reptiles and such. Good to know it was a right choice for me :)
I'm a Dunmer (Dark Elf) player, have been since Morrowind came out and I played it on the original Xbox with my dad as a kid. I absolutely love the game.
I thought I'd relate to Nords or maybe Orcs, but as it turns out, I'm a mix of Bretons on Dunmer, striving for greatness, and to imporve things both for myself and others, all the while having a strong tie to my chosen family. My talents are also spread out, to a point that I still have no clue what I want to do with my life, but my advice and help is always appreciated by people that know me. If I had to take it a step further, I'd guess I could be a mix of both, with my mother being the Dunmer half and my father the Breton half, since my mother values family over anything else and is very religious, while my father has an obsession with climbing the social ladder. Sounds like a pretty interesting mix, if you ask me.
I haven’t finished the entire video but I couldn’t help but feel very connected to the argonians. I knew there was a reason I kept loving to play as them besides they look cool. Throughout most of my life I did feel like an outsider. Though I tried to fit in it wasn’t always successful. I am absolutely willing to basically stand up for those I care about even to my own detriment. While in only recent years and I feeling like I can actually be able to slowly not keep my grudges an anger as easily as I did when I was younger. Being autistic and having adhd. I can say some of the earlier descriptions of argonians in the video definitely kinda hit home for me. Edit: After watching the whole thing I must say imperial is definitely the other race I’d be or simply connect with. Second place after the Argonians.
Come on Michael, you just did the ten main ones! I'd like to see you do a second video with your take on the other races in this way too: Sload, Falmer, Ayleid, Dwemer and Moamer. 👍 So far I'm a hybrid of Argonian, Khajiit and Woof Elf... what a monstrosity! For gameplay, backstory and appearance the Dunmer are my favourite race though.
Imagine what a half Bosmer and Redguard would look like. A really dark skinned elf with tattoos who is a really good warrior. That would be a really cool roleplay idea.
Yeeahh.. I so knew even before starting this that I was gonna be a Nord! Was hoping for a part-Nord part-Redguard, but I seem to be just Nord. Acceptable, I say!
i share most of my traits with bosmer and argonians. bosmer i expected, not argonians so it was very interesting. thanks for the video guys! awesome work
I’m really surprised I am most similar to my favorite race, wood elf. I figured I’d be closest to imperial or something, but I’m not complaining.(That was my second pick, though.) This was a really entertaining video, and helpful because I’ve been thinking about making a character based off of myself. I wasn’t sure what race I should go with, but now I’ll definitely be making “myself” a wood elf! Plus, I always like learning more about the races to increase my roleplaying ability.
I went into this thinking that I was most like the Bretons, and while that's still somewhat true, I found myself relating quite a lot to how you described Argonians, especially in their status as an outsider apart from their own culture, their inclination to live in the moment, and in their veneration of the concept of impermanence, the cycle of life and death, and just change in general. Never really considered how much I had in common with them until now.
I tend to gravitate towards high elves, orcs, and redguards I think. My favorite character in recent memory was a vampire heal-tank build, it was very fun. Still thinking on my next one, leaning towards redguard but not quite sure.
I usually play a nord because I am from Minnesota, so the landscape fits, & also because I love Norse mythology. But after seeing this, I think I am more redguard. Now I need to start yet another game to test this!
I'm a mix of four races. Khajiit: For loving sweets Dark Elf: Of loving my family Argonian: Don't mind being different Orc: For not mind traveling somewhere else Nice video

Breton is love Breton is life
I have no idea.
Its the new horoscope
Purely based off of your comment and the personality that comes from it, I would say you are more suited to an Argonian or an Imperial.
same, I found myself a little in every race except Redguard, Nords (do love history tho), Orcs, and the Elves (even though I love nature and hate waste, and I view the mortal world much like the dunmer do)
Please make this into a quiz! This was tough, as I see traits of myself in all the races. However, I'd tentatively state I'm a mix of Imperial and Nord
I was thinking the same
I feel like a mix between Dunner, Imperial, and nord.
Edit: I do have more nordic traits, but I also find traits in Dunmer.
I'd be the Nord who died falling down the stairs and be denied entrance into Sovngarde
I think for more specifically, youd fit in as a dark elf ashlander in vvardenfell, since they are nomadic and all that
@@Mia-xq8sq thanks for the idea! I think that would be awesome personally! What race/group did you identify with?
This feels like a quiz buzzfeed is going to come out with
Man I used to watch this channel all the time and completely forgot about it.
Never used to be interested in Bretons but now I feel like I am one
Used to sneak around a lot in the woods with bow and arrow as a kid. I like the strong nature affinity the Wood Elves have
14:26 "Spiritual and/or religious matters will need to play a significant role in your life if you're a Dark Elf"
Unless you're a Telvanni lol
I could really go for being a Khajit who secretly wishes he was a Nord and lives in a Breton city, while sometimes going on hunts with Wood Elves right about now
Amen!!!!
I like Dunmer always because my first game was Morrowind back in the days and i loved that game and i love the Dunmer race
You guys always make me want to replay skyrim or eso. Thank you
With my luck I'd probably be a Breton.
Jokes aside though, I kinda like Bretons.
Jack of all trades I guess.
Dunmer are the coolest though.
Funny, I'm overwhelmingly an argonian with just a hint of dark elf
I'm an Argonian lover through and through and I tried to keep an open mind and truly wanted to see which fit me best..... Argonian was the only one that fit at all lmao
This made me realize how much I am like the Khajiit as well as the dark elves... So wild
"Last but not least"
*Introduces smallest of all races*
By watching this, I was surprised that I identified with the Argonians alongside the Dunmer and Bosmer. I've never played an Argonian before in Skyrim. Maybe on my next playthrough I'll try it out.
So....have you. If not I suggest ya do
@@thaddeushill7080 I have tried all three of them since then 😊👍.
The Bretons are trying to be Altmer.
Altmer is the superior race!
All hail the Thalmor!

She's mostly involved with dark elves and before the tribunal she was worshipped by all dark elves as kind of a divine mother sort of role
Also I didn't watch the whole video just the races I was interested in if the answer is in there
TLDR you’re a furry
The big yes TLDR you're small minded
@@mikehunt4265 Azura is the mother goddess of the Khajiit and serves as their psychopomp.
@@LordMortanius since asking the question I've realised azura is the lady of dawn and dusk and the moon is a big part of her symbology and the khajiit basically worship the moon and what moon your born under can dictate your life etc. But as far as I'm aware khajiit have their own names for the moon's and worship them as their own entity and personally I haven't seen any lore that connects the khajiit with azura
I'm still waiting to hear why she's the mother Goddess of the khajiit?
This is a really good video. Even without the 'which class are you', it's super cool to hear your views on the ES classes. Nice!
I adored this. Made me really think which I would most be like. And its probably Breton or Wood Elf. I always play Dunmer or Breton. Good stuff! I watched it four or five times in a row in case I missed something. I kept daydreaming about each race as you talked about them. Thank you so much!
I wanted to note that my boyfriend would definitely be a High Elf. He thinks very highly of himself and is very proud of his ancestors.
Same, I like making my characters somewhat contradictory to lore.
I kinda go about it in a regional way. Pick a place to start and then loosely choose a race that might be residing there. I use alternate start mods tho lol.
my dunmer heavy armor + two-handed tank says hello
@@revis-- hello brethren!
Breton I try to be optimistic and always see the better side of situations and I do wish to help other but always be looking for ways to better myself
To anyone who didn’t take the time to read the whole thing, he basically just wrote “I’m pretentious”.
Gnosticism is cringe.
Actually imo they help each other amazingly
Assumed khajiit because I'm naturally quiet and tend to accidentally sneak up on people. But realized Argonian almost immediately based on the fact that I've been told my personality is unreadable, people tend not to understand what I say right away, and I like nature.
I usually play as a dark elf… I would fit in well with them but honestly I never thought about Bretons til now and I would probably be a good fit with them too
The welcoming and lore of the beast races is really nice to me. I would love to be like them.
Dunmer. Family and striving to learn as many fields as possible is important in my household.
I love these types of vids so much!! Exactly what I needed, I've been asking my friends what their favorite race is lately
Nice Grigori pfp.

Great video. Love reading which ones others identify with. Thanks for this one ❤
Argonians have always been my favorite race but I was surprised to relate more to Bretons. If I were to do a top 3 it would be Breton, Kahjit and then Argonian
*clicks on the video even though I already know my blood runs thick with the ash of red mountain*
I'm a mix between argonian and redguard mostly. Thank you for the video! Really enjoyed it
Who knew I connect strongly towards Argonians.
I’m Nord because I’m Scandinavian and I definitely identify with many aspects of their culrure, aldough I am not so strong (working on that though)
"I am not so strong"
*Milk drinker*
"If you're misunderstood, then you'd probably be an Argonian."

I’ve got Autism and ADHD too. Had the same reaction to the Argonian section.
I'm a hand to hand Khajit named M'aiq Tyson
I'm a mixture between all of them, I have aspects of them all, and at the same time I have aspects that completely contradict them all.
Come on Michael, you just did the ten main ones! I'd like to see you do a second video with your take on the other races in this way too: Sload, Falmer, Ayleid, Dwemer and Moamer. 👍
So far I'm a hybrid of Argonian, Khajiit and Woof Elf... what a monstrosity!
For gameplay, backstory and appearance the Dunmer are my favourite race though.
Don't forget the Imga, Minotaurs and Dregs. People always forget them!
I resonate with being a mix of redguard and bosmer. However, I also just love their lore.

Imagine what a half Bosmer and Redguard would look like. A really dark skinned elf with tattoos who is a really good warrior. That would be a really cool roleplay idea.

i share most of my traits with bosmer and argonians. bosmer i expected, not argonians so it was very interesting. thanks for the video guys! awesome work
While I love the Bretons, this has helped me realize I'm much more of a Redguard in spirit - with Khajiit mixed in
I’m really surprised I am most similar to my favorite race, wood elf.
Here are my favorite races.
1. Wood Elves
2. Nords
3. Argonians
4. Dark Elves
5. Orcs
6. Redguards
Amazing concept man 🏰⚔️
I tend to play Kajiit, but that's mainly because I like cats and almost always play stealth characters
I play khajiit too.... But that's mostly cuz I think they're kinda hot

Breton.
I always had a soft spot for old fashioned questing Knights, like in those old movie from the 50s.
I am probably an imperial, specifically a battlemage, I like both intellectual and physical pursuits, and try to balance between the two
After watching this video, I have to say I am mostly Argonian with sprinkles of Wood Elf and Orc.
I tend to gravitate towards high elves, orcs, and redguards I think. My favorite character in recent memory was a vampire heal-tank build, it was very fun. Still thinking on my next one, leaning towards redguard but not quite sure.
I'm more Argonian according to this, with the Redguard's physical ability. But I love the Nords most because vikings
