      This is an older video, the 632 crate has been around for a while, this is a 850hp street-legal version, whereas the one you are referencing is the new race-only version, which is not street-legal, and requires race fuel.

      I've got a similar build in my 70 Chevelle, a 598 that's a 10.5:1 motor, good sized hydraulic roller, but with a 1250cfm Dominator carb a th400 manual valve body trans and a 3.70 gear out back, and driving it normally resisting the urge to crush the gas pedal I'm getting about 12 mpg, which really isn't bad at all in a 3300lb car. If I had to guess, this motor would probably get a little better than that as its around 150 less horsepower, and a less thirsty carb at only 850cfm. But there's a lot of other things that would need to be considered in figuring out your actual mileage.

      It's not that streetable of a carb, great for the track but that's it

    • @Scubasteve22
      @Scubasteve22 5 років тому

      @@stefandwoodham depends if your neighbor tunes it or a pro. A lot of people don't know, but a bigger carb will almost always make more power and idle and transition better than one that is supposed to be the correct size. A carb that is the right size or streetable on a built low vac motor, a lot of times needs the throttle blades cracked open to the point of being in the transition port, pulling xtra gas in and "loading up" . So you can see that a bigger carb within reason will smooth out the idle and the transition. FYI, we have a 950 double dump on a street 410 Cleveland, and runs perfect. Thanks for your inquiry.

    • @chevysbxbbc
      @chevysbxbbc 4 роки тому

      Depends on what you want. If you want cold start, gas mileage and consistent performance through out engine warm up? Yes fuel injection. But if you want the most outta that engine but sacrifice a little performance till at operating temperature? Carb is it. Fuel injection doesn't out perform carburetor when at operating temperature. I can sacrifice cold engine horse power. Don't take long to warm up.
