  • Just a short video of the 632 from Blueprint Engines after a year of hard driving. 7,000 miles and plenty of passes down the track. Just an awesome engine, had a blast this year with it! Yes I was missing a trim ring, it's hard to keep the car together with this much hp to a stock body!

      +Monte SS Thank you anyway for the camera angle, it was pretty unique. Does the headers get to go glowing red on a full power pull on a 1/4 mile run when you film during that?
      I am longterm looking for a motorswap like a BP 632, would you care to describe the buying process and the swap process and such, if there was any hickups or "oh yeah, shit , forgot that" moments or how BP was to deal with, has there been any trouble with it, how are they support wise etc?
      Did you pay the $10k for it that their webpage suggests is the 2016 price or was there extra costs associated with the full swap costs?
      I'm looking at the biggest they have fuel injected so will probably go 572 FI myself when the time comes in 2018.

    according to the exhaust math formula I got from David Vizzard's writings, an 800 HP engine needs a 3.75" diameter collector and exhaust pipe in order to avoid choking out any power. So while I fully agree that 4: diameter exhaust pipe would be ideal for these engines, I also believe that a 2 1/4" primary is not needed unless you step things up with a larger cam and an RPM range up to 7000 which would then get you in the 900 HP range

    I think that 2 1/8 inch is the ideal primary tube size for a low reving 632 CID engine like this one (low reving meaning that his redline is likely 6,500 RPM or less with this engine). That's what I have on my car. Although, I also believe that 3 1/2 inch diameter exhaust pipe would be the absolutle bare minimum (which is also what I have on my Chevelle, and I bought a mandrel bent 3.5" set-up from Torque Tech EXH).

      Very happy with it and the company. This engine has been nearly 30k miles and hundreds of runs, track times and abuse. In the 5 years I've run this setup, all I've done was replace valve springs a few months back. It does show signs of needing rebuild finally, uses more oil and down on compression. But after what I done to this engine it's no surprise it finally needs work. I already have plans of buying another 632 from blueprint and also rebuilding this one soon.

    What stall torque converter are you running? I'm installing a Blueprint 632 in my 55 Chevy. I'm going to run a 2,600 stall. Blueprint recommends a 2,000

    • @Monte1970SS
      @Monte1970SS  9 років тому

      I run a 3000 stall, if I were you that would be minimum. I'm thinking of going to a 3500 stall. 2000 stall way too small I'd say.

    It sounds like you are running a stock torque converter. That's my preference for a street car. I don't like a sloppy converter for the street. I had a warmed over BB Camaro in which I ran a stock converter and the best way I found to take-off was to let the engine idle then stomp the gas without power braking it. The idle-to-WOT flashes the converter and you get more rpm out of the stall.

    • @axlegrind4212
      @axlegrind4212 8 років тому

      Additionally, when you power-brake the motor you have used up a good portion of the accelerator pump on the carburetor. With the idle to WOT take-off you utilize all of the acc. pump.

    • @Monte1970SS
      @Monte1970SS  8 років тому +1

      +Axle Grind Its a tight 3k stall converter. Setup just right for me, very good street manners.

    Nice, sounds like you have some decent gears in it, can the frame, etc. take that much power?? That's sure a sick engine. I see the guy with the ElCamino running 10.8 with his 632 and 4:11

    • @Monte1970SS
      @Monte1970SS  10 років тому

      Its three inch but really needs to be bigger. I pick up 5 tenths at track when I open cutouts.

    • @mean70632
      @mean70632 10 років тому

      Monte SS Yep, that's a sure sign that you need a freer flowing exhaust. Besides the 3 inch being to narrow, those flow master muffs are also a little bit restrictive since they use baffles to quiet the noise. If you ever upgrade, then consider the PYPES brand "RACE Pro" muffs since they use a perforated pipe through the center of the case for noise reduction instead of baffles, so they're less restrictive, and yet still much more quiet than open headers or straight pipes are. The PYPES RACE Pro muffs are actually quieter than their "STREET Pro" muffs are and are still less restrictive. Try their 3 inch ones.

    • @mean70632
      @mean70632 10 років тому

      Monte SS I've put the Chevelle project on the back burner for awhile, but I have to make it priority again and get it finished. I believe that I have a slightly more intense camshaft in my 632 than the blueprint 632 engines have, but I also think that the cylinder heads that you have in yours might be a little better than the heads I have, so it's a trade-off and these engines make very similar power.

    • @Monte1970SS
      @Monte1970SS  10 років тому

      William Gruce still both are very good setups all around. I have no complaints here.

      Set of flowmasters 40 series with 3 inch complete system. I always loved the sound of a big block through flows. Sounds really good goin through the rpm! One thing though, the 3 inch system is very restrictive with this size engine.....give you an idea, through it the car barely runs high 10's at 128-126ish but open the cutouts, car runs low 10's at 133.

      Yes. Had to modify ac box greatly and put a smaller brake booster on it. Wanna say the 10 inch booster cleared.

      Monte SS I have a 10 inch booster May I ask what all did you have to do to the ac box. I eventually want to go vintage air but I’m putting this motor in first lol

    • @Monte1970SS

      Well booster should be fine. The ac box we basically cut a square in it and reversed the part and reglassed it back in. Still touches valve cover but clears.
