My Khar CW9 was the first I purchased. Eventually I added a glock 43 and then a s&w shield. I’ve since gotten rid of the glock and my wife likes the shield. 10 years down the line the CW9 is still my daily.
27 yrs ago, I went to my favorite sporting goods store. I mozied over by firearms although my juvenile self wasn't that interested in firearms. I seen the newly released Kahr K9. I fell in love immediately. Such a beautiful pistol. The attention to detail was obvious to my novice self. Fast forward many years and hundreds of firearms later. I stumbled upon a Kahr CW9 and was impressed by the quality. The price was far below my expectations for a firearm with this attention to detail. Bought and carried for a few months. I absolutely love the trigger. Literally last night, I could not stand it no longer and bought myself a K9. After all these years, it's funny that through all the different systems I used and carried, the first gun to ever catch my attention checks all my boxes for my wants and needs. I am thinking about buying a second K9 so my daughter and my son won't fight over my Kahr when I am gone!😂🤣😂. Thanks Yankee, I really appreciate the content and your perspectives as well.
Nice review. I personally think the 9mm suits these guns much better than the .40, 45. I own the PM9 & P9 in 9mm. Excellent single stack polymer striker fired pistol! Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding! CW9, easy disassembly, reassembly, extremely light, easy to conceal, and extremely accurate for it's size. I own a Ruger, Rossi, Sig Sauer, among others, and gave my wife a CW9.
A left wing "gun nut", I love it! His brother has a bushcraft page & I started looking into these pistols off of that. I trust your reviews because I view them as honest & experienced. Thanks for the upload Sir.
I haven't experienced customer service for a long long time from anyone like I got from Kahr when I had an issue with a Kahr I have. They don't screw around. I had a NIB CW9 that had an issue with the trigger, emailed Kahr over the weekend, and got a return email first thing that Monday with a next day postage label attached. From the day I mailed my pistol to them (didn't have to pay postage, didn't have to haggle at all with them) to the day I got it back fixed...LESS than one week. No hassles, no haggles, nada. Notations were included on what they did to it. Compare that to a Century rifle I had....took them 6 weeks to sort of fix it, no notations on what they did to it when I got it back. Kahr has certainly earned my respect, and my future business. BTW, I love my CW9. smooth trigger, reliable, simple (perhaps my favorite feature), light, thin, yet, it has a grip lets you get that third finger on it and makes it very comfortable to shoot, which is not the case with a lot of concealed carry guns out there where you can only get 2 fingers on the grip and your pinky dangles. Real solid little piece of hardware.
Just revisited this video. Excellent content, very informative, and entertaining as always. I was just scrolling through the comments and noticed all the trolling you have been subjected to. I just wanted to say I've been a long time subscriber and appreciate your work. Your self-deprecating sense of humor is a courageous attribute, considering all the crabs in this pot.
Nice video. I've had three Kahr's along with 3 other vendors. I've put at least 1000 rounds through each Kahr and have had zero problems. I even dropped a loaded PM9 on concrete once with thankfully no discharge. The low weight is a huge advantage for me.
Love my CW45! No issues with the 300 rounds I've put through it so far. I did notice at some shops when I was looking for the best price, some of the CW45 had trigger issues which I pointed out to the shops and those pistols were sent back.
A little history lesson. Starting after WW2, the Reverend Sun Myung Moon started the Unification Church. It was and still is considered a cult. Members were referred to as “Moonies”. Very popular in the 70’s. Reverend Moon had two sons, Justin Moon and Hyung Jin Moon. Justin Moon is the founder, CEO, and president of Kahr Arms. Jin Moon is pastor of World Peace and Unification Sanctuary Church, known for holding blessing ceremonies for AR-15 rifles (Wikipedia). I’m glad Justin decided to build firearms instead of being a religious leader. They make some really fine firearms.
Funny you mentioned Glock 40s blowing up in your hand I had a Glock blow out a large section of the base of the case partially ejecting the magazine when i was shooting one day. It was a friends gun and he was a witness to this having happened. as well as a piece of the brass partially embedding in my face.
I recently sold my Walther CCP because I did not like the funky takedown, and bought a new Khar CT-9. I love the Kahr smooooth trigger, and my Kahr has worked flawlessly.
My first gun show I went to, I bought a Kahr CW 40. Very smart decision on my part. It has been my carry gun for 4-5 years. I love it. Only thing I didn't like was only one mag. There was a magazine lady at the show though that got me two mags for a few dollars cheaper than KAHR's website. I had those a couple months after I bought the gun, when the gun show came to my town.
Thank you for this review. I recently bought a Kahr CW9 as a back up to my Sig Sauer daily carry. It is a great gun for the price point and I am looking at purchasing a MK40. Really impressed with the Kahr.
I bought a Kahr PM40 back in 2001 from a gun shop in Dallas Texas that had a shooting range I didn't even get through two mags before the rail broke on the slide couldn't even shoot the gun but fortunately since I was still there I took it right back in and got the steel version k40 I've had the gun ever since and I've never had a misfire with it. Looking for a lighter gun now so maybe I'll look at PM again. Good video THANKS
great video. Very helpful. I will definitely seriously look at a Kahr for my first ccw. Wouldn't have considered it prior to your vid. Great work as always!
Just going through some of your other videos and found this. I think the Kahr T9 is probably one of the prettiest pistols that I've ever seen. A friend of mine had on and it was immediate lust when I saw it. That lust remains unfulfilled. Occasionally I'll look one up on the internet and stare at it.
I am still in love with my Kahr Pistols after all these years. Just like my wife, Kahrs only get better with age. It's too bad my wife left me for another man.My TP45 is a great carry gun. No problems that I can complain about. Smooth accurate and reliable. Yes, the grip is long, but it's thin and fairly easy to keep covered.
I've been carrying a PM9 for about 2 years now and couldn't be happier with it. I shoot at least 21 rounds through it most weeks (6+1 capacity, my hand loads) so it's approaching 2,000 rounds and has never had a failure of any type. I think the way the mag fits is by design, to make it easier for the mag catch to engage with the magazine. Some pistols you have to smack the mag pretty good to make sure the mag catch engages, not so with a Kahr.
I love, love, love my MK9. Been reliable and accurate from day one. Had mine for well over a decade now and it's been great. It's been my off duty carry gun of choice for a long time.
I have put just over 500 rounds down the pipe in my pm45 without any problems must say a really nice CCW with lots of stopping power! very very happy with it
I had 3 Kahrs, PM9, CM40 and CM45. I only had issues with the CM45. The 45 version was throwing the brass straight to my forehead. I sent it back 3 times to the company for service but unfortunately they were unable to fix the issue. I got a replacement.. in 9mm. They didn't fix the original issue but their customer service was wonderful.... from the gunsmiths to the customer service director they are awesome. Excellent job!
Currently running the MK9 for EDC. I carry either on an Alessi belt slide or their ankle holster. One should note that when cleaning, make sure you pull the firing pin and q-tip the recess very throughly. The Kahr has a unique fire control that cocks the striker as the slide moves into battery. This keeps the firing pin protruding throughout the ejection cycle and causes more then a normal amount of brass to sheer from the case head. This brass finds its way into the firing pin recess and could cause a ftf if not removed. If you want to upgrade to Kahrs full length SS guide rod, you're expected to disassemble the existing telescoping guide rod (thereby ruining it) and reassemble parts onto the new one.
They will on a Kahr because the slide rides on a set of secondary polymer rails. If the frame flexes under heavy loads it becomes an issue. It has caused them a lot of trouble in the past.
My PM9 has been flawless with Winchester white box ammo, same with my PM45. Originally had to send the PM45 back for feed issues- they repaired and polished everything, but eventually I just wised up and learned my Kahrs only like certain brands of ammo. I also have a T40 now and it shoots perfectly as well.
Yankee, Great video. I like the way you just state for people to look at a Kahr. That does not mean that a Kahr is the right gun some people. There are so many variables that come into play when considering a gun to purchase and or carry. Lastly, about all the comments about safety checking on video. A weapon should be safety checked each time it is picked up. It has nothing to do with being on camera or not. Keep up the good work!
Nice to see the recognition. My MK9 has been there And I mean BEEN THERE for me for damn near 15 years. It's MK9 #10(no bullshit) according to the serial number. Everybody that SAYS they wanna carry a gun at all times, then goes out and buys a frickin 20 round capacity pistol, I just laugh...... Good vid man, I think I'm gonna subscribe...... Thanks
I bought a used CW40. It had been shot so few times there weren't any rub marks on the barrel yet. But, it already had a bent slide stop spring. After straightening the spring it gave me no problems. But I have had other issues with mags dropping out and once I had a trigger fail. Kahr is sending me a new spring, mag catch, and follower. I cleaned and lubed the trigger bar and cam. I have fired over 200 rounds and it seems to be reliable as long as the mag stays in, no FTF probs. Hopefully the new parts will resolve that.
I have never had issues with my Kahr pistols. I friend had bad issues with one of the first PM40's though. It was before they changed the polymer and the frame would flex and the polymer rails would cause the gun to jam.
Love my CM9! My CM9 is the most reliable carry piece iv ever owned, about 1,000 rounds or more through it and not a single malfunction, very very reliable and accurate, I am a commercial refrigeration tech and get dirt, lint, and all kinds if crap in my gun and take it to the range and fire it with the ammo in the mag I carry to make sure it will function properly after the crap its been through and have yet to have any issue, even put 500 rounds through it didn't clean it, carried it for 2-3 months and took it to the range without it being so much as dusted or blown off and it functioned flawlessly, just my 2cents and experience.
Thanks for this. Just bought one not knowing much about it because this (PM9) was the only piece in the configuration the store had left and even IT was on consignment. I'm feeling a bit better about it now. Haven't trained with it yet but, one of the knocks is recoil management and flip. Got it for the bride. Hope she can handle it. Thanks again.
I put off buying a kahr when I saw the price on their budget lines (c series) thinking that low price meant low quality. I ended up getting a ct9 at a really good price and now I absolutely love them. great firearm, amazing trigger!
This guy humans4targets2 made a video saying the Kahr was a bad gun because the trigger, it's an excellent trigger, especially if you like good revolver triggers. I love revolvers so I find Kahrs very nice, and simple to use.
2-1 BrAvO Noticed he turned off the comments. He said the trigger is dangerous if you have to hold someone at gunpoint since it is hard to tell where it breaks.
I have the Kahr P380. After the first three hundred rounds I began to notice that my slide was shaving off the right side of the polymer frame just above the forward rail. I've now cleared the one thousand round mark and its continued to shave the right side of the frame. Not sure if it's because I'm a right handed shooter or that I slingshot the slide forward with my left hand. But it is something to note on the Polymer frame versions. I purchased mine in early 2011.
On the contrary, there are still way too many dumb people out there, showing a safety check every time helps to hopefully drill it into their feeble memories.
Great review. I have a Kahr K9 Elite and I love it. It shoots great and is my favorite range gun. I prefer the higher capacity of my glock for home defense however.
I bought a used pm40 black diamond for 300 dollars used and the frame was cracked. I sent it in to Kahr, told them the story , 8 weeks later I got my pistol back with a new frame , no charge! I am a Kahr customer for life.
Cw9 was my first pistol, can't ever see myself getting rid of it. Picked it up used and have put about 600 rounds through it without a single issue, shoots nice, feels nice, accurate and easily concealed in my kholster
I was worried about the frame shaving too, was told by kahr that all polymer frames will bite until "break in" period is complete, and to their defense, the metal guide rails built into the game are still fully intact.
I have carried the Kahr PPS (9mm) for just over a year as my EDC. The points made here are all good and valid. Two things I am not delighted with: 1) The 200+ round break in period. 2) When reassembling the gun after cleaning, I find it annoyingly fidgety to push the slide release pin back through the gun's frame. Fortunately Kahr has a UA-cam video clearly showing how to do it, but it is still a pain. My first Kahr, during the .380 fad was the P380. I had some problems with that one and, while I didn't need to send it back, had uneven experiences with e-mailing Kahr's customer service. In all fairness, this was back in 2011, YMMV. It was finally recommended that I only use good quality, American made ammo and that seemed to make a difference. Now I would just like to sell the .380 since I only carry the PM9. BTW, I would rather carry my Walther PPS more. I feel it is a better quality gun and 100% reliable. Unfortunately, the slim, light Kahr PM9 is so comfortable to carry you want to carry it everywhere you can, every time. And that my friends is key if you make the decision to concealed carry. No gun, no matter how excellent, will be of any use if left at home.
I bought a Kahr CM9 a few days ago. Was experiencing nosedive jams, apparently Kahr had a bad batch of recoil spring assemblies, because when I contacted Kahr about it they immediately offered to send me a replacement recoil spring assembly without even asking me to try any other ammo or something.
No, that is not typical. The rails should not look frayed. That is the issue early Kahrs were having and it does effect function since frame flex is what is causing the wear.
Good points. Polls show, time after time, that corporate CEOs are usually split on the conservative/liberal and Republican/Democrat political spectrum. They reflect the overall general voting patterns of the American voting public. Just because you make the BIG bucks doesn't mean you are conservative. Not by a long shot.
Nice review. It sounds odd but the way you keep adjusting the guns for the camera to keep them in line gives your review more credibility. You definitely seem like a perfectionist or at least like it when a product has that high quality. The positives outweigh the negatives for sure in the Kahrs. I have another one, a K9, on its way in to join a CW9 I use as my conceal carry.
I have a CW40, No "shavings" issues but the magazine comes loose while shooting alot. Also when reassembling the takedown lever doesn't like to slide under the spring it's supposed to.
My Kahr is currently back at the factory. The magazine follower on the PM40 would break after a couple of rounds. Disappointed with the error, but we'll see how they handle the issue.
Got more than 2000 rounds thru mine and I love it, I carry it every day and nobody needs to know its so small and thin . 2 issues plastic mag release Kahr replaced w a metal one and new spring for free and aluminum ammo does not feed 100% only about 99% Corbon DPX is 100%, so I practice with Aluminum, got to practice failures under stress anyway and then carry corbon.
As mentioned in the video by TheYankeeMarshal, the P45 pistols may be pushing things too far. I purchased a new one in 2016 and followed the manufacturer's break-in procedure of 300-rounds and noticed the following defects: 1) barrel lock-up area had become peened and damaged, returned to Kahr and they replaced the barrel; 2) would not feed hollow point ammunition; 3) frequent jamming with FMJ ammunition; and 4) plastic was being shaved of the plastic portion of the frame rails
Thanks for posting this video. One thing I'd like to see is, a comparison of the Ruger LC9s Pro to which ever Kahr model comes closest in size. I'm just curious how the lower prices Ruger would compare with the build quality of the Kahr pistols.
@jrvalles The extra weight of course adds some stability but the difference is not huge. The PM40 is a harder on the hands because of the rough textured frame.
I am a big Kahr Fan. It is my Carry Brand and I trust my very Life to my Kahr. It is as big a part of me as the shoes I wear or the keys that I carry everyday. Yes, it isn't perfect, but neither am I. I trust my Kahr Pistol as much as I trust myself.
I own the first run Kahr in 9mm and it is a well thought out and engineered gun from the get go. Personally, love the trigger; you can feel the break coming so it's kinda like line bifocals versus no-line, a smooth and controllable transition. The quality of the barrel was well covered in this review, so kudos on that. It is a heavy piece, so I agree with the reviewer that the Polymer .40 is ideal for everyday easy carry. .40 cal has given the .45 a real run for the money. So, all considering the reviewer nailed it.
My PM40 breaks so smoothly, I can't tell before it fires. Not at all like my duty Glock 23. In fact, had trouble qualifying with the Kahr because they're so different. Ended up with a 27 for backup.
good video.but as far as the rail system the pm9 has an upper and lower rail.the front lower rail is below the polymer frame just above the guide rod.if you look close at the lower front of the slide you will see 2 slots were the front of the slide runs on the front rail.the polymer rail in the center is there only to line up the front rail.it does not carry the slide.although it may touch it and some guns chaff off some polymer here and there.you also have a steel upper rear rail on the PM9
I'm not saying it in an insulting manner, but this guy is naturally the class clown. He's a funny guy. But I'm guessing by him growing up around a bunch of serious people damaged him and now as an adult he's lashing out. Thus the "grown ass man" comment.
One thing to keep in mind is that striker type fire control systems are not design compatible with the Browning tilt breach short recoil action. There are a lot of things that gun designers do to get around this incompatibility, otherwise the firing pin tip would snap off before you empty the first magazine. However, even with those design fixes, you can still end up with a carry gun going "click" at the very worst time.
Problems with a 45? Not me. My TP45 is my daily carry pistol and I love it. I have had no problems since its third round many months ago. It does have a long grip length and is not the easiest to hide, but I carry mine in a shoulder holster. The longer grip is great for me. I'll keep my TP45 over any other .45 ACP I own.
Can't believe this old man's been at it for over 11 years now. Always good watching your videos.
My Khar CW9 was the first I purchased. Eventually I added a glock 43 and then a s&w shield. I’ve since gotten rid of the glock and my wife likes the shield. 10 years down the line the CW9 is still my daily.

A left wing "gun nut", I love it! His brother has a bushcraft page & I started looking into these pistols off of that. I trust your reviews because I view them as honest & experienced. Thanks for the upload Sir.
They are reliable and super easy to carry. I am surprised at how well they handle the recoil too.
Have three Kahr pistols. All have been flawless, reliable performers. Do wish Kahr would make a double stack version.
I haven't experienced customer service for a long long time from anyone like I got from Kahr when I had an issue with a Kahr I have. They don't screw around. I have a TP45, P45 and PM45. Each on runs great. In fact the P45 might actually be my favorite Kahr.
Great video, helped me make the decision to replace my pps with a kahr p9, I've owned a cm9 and loved the trigger, getting the p9 for $400 used

How’s it holding up now
The Kahr may not be my preferred gun, but it is a pretty good one.
The CW9 was my first Kahr too.
Very nice review, thank you YankeeMarshal. I leaning towards purchasing a PM9 in burnt bronze.
Mixteddd you ever have a rough break in period? I just bought one and have yet to fire it. its the ct40 but how was your experience?
Drives me crazy when people feel they need to record the safety check. I guess you have to please all the hall monitors on UA-cam .
Yea me to
On the contrary, there are still way too many dumb people out there, showing a safety check every time helps to hopefully drill it into their feeble memories.
sunrisesurfbum The Darwin Award winner will get their award irregardless of showing the safety checks, just skip over it like 99% of people do.
it's a good habit to reinforce. can't hurt.
@@MrChaes do it for you dont do it for the viewer
Great review. I have a Kahr K9 Elite and I love it. It shoots great and is my favorite range gun. I prefer the higher capacity of my glock for home defense however.
I bought a used pm40 black diamond for 300 dollars used and the frame was cracked.
I sent it in to Kahr, told them the story , 8 weeks later I got my pistol back with a new frame , no charge!
I am a Kahr customer for life.
william gardner really? Good to know. I bought a p40 and it had a pin walking.
Still waiting on my S&W 640 Pro to come in - now your making me want a Kahr.
@JPBill2 I am not sure how you make that comparison. 1911 mags fit flush and even with the magwell.
Great looking pistols, especially the MK and K40.
I LOVE MY KAHRS.NEVER A PROBLEM...BEST TRIGGER PULL.I HAVE THE CW380 AND THE CW45.....LOVE YOUR VIDS..
I have carried the Kahr PPS (9mm) for just over a year as my EDC.
The points made here are all good and valid.
Two things I am not delighted with:
1) The 200+ round break in period.
THANK YOU, Awesome gun, I'll go buy me an Elite serie's. I bought my PM40 last spring, the more you shoot it's a great gun.!!!
Like your videos and your honesty about your politics.
Keep up the honest reviews.
You've got yourself a new fan.
Very detailed video. Thank you for sharing.
Nice review. We're considering a polymer in 9mm for the wife. She wants to try AIWB carry for the summer months.
I forgot that Yankee got his start by talking about guns. Those were the days. Love that mk40.
l just picked up an M1 carbine Kahr makes, looking forward to shooting it this weekend
Thanks I was getting obsessed with Kahr lately.😂
Good points. Polls show, time after time, that corporate CEOs are usually split on the conservative/liberal and Republican/Democrat political spectrum. They reflect the overall general voting patterns of the American voting public. Just because you make the BIG bucks doesn't mean you are conservative. Not by a long shot.
This is an old video. I have ran out of actual information since I made this one.
My favorite EDC khar ct9 and my duty pistol.
My Kahr is currently back at the factory. The magazine follower on the PM40 would break after a couple of rounds. Disappointed with the error, but we'll see how they handle the issue.
@Voyeur12 Yes, I actually did a video segment about that but cut it because of length.
Got more than 2000 rounds thru mine and I love it,
I carry it every day and nobody needs to know its so small and thin
. 2 issues plastic mag release Kahr replaced w a metal one and new spring for free
and aluminum ammo does not feed 100% only about 99%
Corbon DPX is 100%, so I practice with Aluminum, got to practice failures under stress anyway and then carry corbon.
They are a nice shooting pistol with ACCURACY. I would love to get my hands on one of them.
@nathan00campbell I have no idea. I do know the made some minor changes to the PM40 shortly after it was introduced. Maybe those were the changes.
@esh325 The T9 stumps me a bit too. I am betting it does most people since I do not see them very often. They appear to be rare.
I have never, ever seen a polymer guide rod fail...but I still like to replace them if I can.
“Kahr’s are really high quality and reliable”.
*CW380 enters the chat*
Thanks for posting this video. One thing I'd like to see is, a comparison of the Ruger LC9s Pro to which ever Kahr model comes closest in size. I'm just curious how the lower prices Ruger would compare with the build quality of the Kahr pistols.
@jrvalles The extra weight of course adds some stability but the difference is not huge. The PM40 is a harder on the hands because of the rough textured frame.
Good presentation you do produce a good video when you want.
This has always been a big debate. As far as I can see the accuracy difference is so small it will not make much difference for the average shooter.
@TheGunfighter45acp I would highly recommend a Kahr polymer for summer carry.
This is an older vid so you probably won't see my comment but nontheless you did a nice job on this Kahr review YM...
Hello Mr. YM., Appreciate the video. would like to see a detailed review of the K40, accuracy, recoil, effective distance, etc. Much obliged.
@wachmisix I switched to .40s&w after getting much better hard barrier penetration in some tests I did. I usually use 180gr Hornady JHP/XTP
good video.but as far as the rail system the pm9 has an upper and lower rail.the front lower rail is below the polymer frame just above the guide rod.if you look close at the lower front of the slide you will see 2 slots were the front of the slide runs on the front rail.the polymer rail in the center is there only to line up the front rail.it does not carry the slide.although it may touch it and some guns chaff off some polymer here and there.you also have a steel upper rear rail on the PM9
I really like this guys early videos. Not all this silly dancing yelling I'm a grown ass man.
I'm not saying it in an insulting manner, but this guy is naturally the class clown. He's a funny guy. But I'm guessing by him growing up around a bunch of serious people damaged him and now as an adult he's lashing out. Thus the "grown ass man" comment.
That's Funny!
The PM40 has a little punch but it is not uncontrollable. The PM9 is easier to control though.
Every single striker gun made today disagrees with you... Glock, XD, M&P etc are extremely common and don't have issues.
I am interested in seeing the new CW380.
Also, the slide release lever is 2-piece, with the axis free to pivot.
