No ego, no pretence, just a nice man wanting to share experience and knowledge so you are able to safely train with maximum effect. An iconic human being, wish I met you
My initials are GB and I also share your thoughts. I dunno how long life will be, but I will put in the work to consistently mold myself over time into a version of the man we both admire. 🙏 cheers to you lad
I stil avoid watching some of his videos to try not to think about his passing. It really hurt to have a man like John go to early. It's always the good ones.. I really hope his wife and kids are doing well and looked after for the rest of their lives. Rip John meadows. You helped so many people you had no idea of.
if you want to help his wife and kids, buy some of his books, merch, etc. Also, don't avoid watching his videos, the more views they get the better. I'm betting John would want us celebrating his life, not mourning it.
Just did a chest session today... Realized that I was feeling more in my shoulders and triceps, now after watching this I have knowledge of why. Even though he's no longer with us, he can still teach us all so much. Thank you for keeping his videos available for us all.
This guy put out more useful information than anybody else has ever. What an outstanding, knowledgeable human being. I miss him every day. RIP and know you helped many big John. ❤
The amazing things this man is teaching are things that I learned intuitively from 25 years of lifting, and every single thing is said has been spot-on
I'm eternally grateful that John chose to share his wealth of knowledge with all of us on a regular basis. The amount of valuable information bestowed upon us is immense!
John was,is and always will be the master of instruction he covered every aspect of an exercise. Thank you for keeping the channel going even though it is always tinged with sadness. Jim Harrison Cheshire. UK.
these videos must be a treasure for the Meadows Family and for his children and grandchildren in the future. I just learned about John from the comment section and my heart goes out to all of you!
I thought packing/pinching the shoulders down and back protected the shoulders, but I must agree I haven’t gained good chest size so I can’t wait to let them be a bit more free. I love these videos!
Wow I just found about this guy and was about to comment thank you for the good tips, and now I'm reading these comments saying he passed. It saddens me even after watching him for the first time. Thank you for this content.
Found Johns videos for the first time about 4 months ago and been watching them everyday since. His wealth of knowledge was incredible and he had a way of getting the point across in such an easy going straight to the point manner. His tips and knowledge have definitely transformed how I work out now and been getting great results.
Loving these videos. They're golden and we love the reprise. I learned proper chest dips from John through these videos. Mike Mentzer always wrote fondly of traditional dips, calling it the upper body squat, and I respect his rational writings immensely, but to me it never quite felt right, as it always ended up being mostly triceps to me. Heck, there's even some lats and whatever coming into play as you kinda tilt your upper body backwards when you fatigue and reach failure, removing the chest from the equation entirely. Sure, for that and other reasons it may be a great "general upper body exercise", if you wanna do a finishing movement on an upper day and take your triceps to failure... but you won't hit your chest. And chest is ironically the main reason people do dips! John's advice to put your feet in front of you and flair your elbows a little fixes this contradiction in exercise goals entirely, basically making the dip a steep decline bench press with your shoulders at a safe angle and without your gut blocking the bar, so to speak. You will achieve a great "lower" pec stretch this way. You'll feel it. This technique just makes so much more sense to me. It's the proper chest dip, which is what people are looking for in a dip, despite most people in gyms doing extravagant tricep presses. No wonder why everyone gets turned on to it when John shows them the technique in his videos.
Thank you, sincerely, for still making great videos of the MountainDog. I look forward to doin’ banded pull-ups in heaven with John one day. Just hopefully not soon. God Bless John, his family, and the wonderful folks still releasin’ videos.
It's a testament to his absolute wisdom and knowledge that there's still a plethora of videos in his back catalog which is being released on Mountain Dogs channel. Such a great way to honor his memory and help him live on within all of us.
I thought about you the other day, John. When the lockdown got lifted here in Ontario when I went back to the gym. I thought about how you would be putting in 100% effort while keeping good technique and just giving it your all. You inspired me that day. Please Rest In Peace, sir.
I love that John is getting more subscribers to his channel I know his family love it as we are part of his family now thanks John keep the numbers rising.
I loved John. I even got the comments saved that he wrote me back on UA-cam. I thought that was the coolest thing ever cause I never talked to a celebrity before
Wow..... had to comment again, after my workout. Smh..... this why I've always been so fond of John..... he just speaks my language. After a few years of being "a spoon" myself.... and wondering where my shoulder aches are coming from, this certainly all makes a lot of sense to me. Wellll, I flipped that spoon upside down today...... and my goodness.... what a difference. People..... this whole lifting weights journey sure is something. It's definitely a marathon and not a sprint. I'm always learning and just love and appreciate this aspect of it. Thank heavens for Mr. Meadows..... wishing the family nothing but the best. Thank you!
This guy has the best content hands down. I'm very glad I found this channel and I'm sorry for your loss but this is the best content and info hands down. This is some what weird to me cause I feel like he is still alive doing this. And I hope there is enough content for a long time. So far I like every single segment. Rip sir. You really are the goat 🐐 on here with info, tips, knowledge and truth.
I can't yet... RIP Mountaindog ... I hope someday I can watch all the new stuff, but until then his passing is still too tough for me to focus on the content and not think about the man we lost.
Love this video! Wisdom and great tips here. My favorite is the fact the John cares so much for shoulder health while working the chest. Thank you to the crew who is publishing these videos.
I'm a newbie here and was crushed to learn of this man's passing just as I was falling in love with his character as well as content. God bless this man. I had a question I don't know if anyone would care to respond to. I was attempting his style of dips with the elbows flared out and the legs forward and although I was in fact feeling that good stretch in my lower peck, I was also feeling an uncomfortable pulling in my shoulders. Am I doing something wrong or do I just need to improve flexibility?
John has always preached to take his advice so long as pathologies aren’t present during the exercise. Meaning: his dips are incredible, but it they’re bringing undue stress to your shoulder capsule, then try modifying the exercise to fit your mechanics or avoid it altogether. So without seeing you perform the exercise, I would say to shorten the range-of-motion or to bring the stretch to the point before you’re experiencing pain. My advice is obviously not applicable if the whole ROM brings you pain; therefore, I would make sure that you have optimal flexibility in your shoulder girdle before proceeding forth with those dips. I can totally relate, because ALL iterations of dips put me through shoulder hell.
@@trevorrisley5419 Awesome advice, thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I will most certainly try this out when I have chest day again in a couple of days. It very well could have been because I was going too deep. Will see on thursday if that was the case.
I saw one of his videos where he featured his son’s skills with the yo-yo.. I will love to see his sons in some videos. I enjoy his videos so much that while I’m watching them, I forget that he is gone. God bless his lovely wife and his really good kids.
I always start with bench press, but building up with warmup sets. The first set goes with an empty bar. Then in 3-4 steps increase on weights to my PR, and then going down, in 2 step, then with a close grip with the first step, with a weight would be easy for chest press, but with closed grips press it goes to triceps, only a bit challenging.
Iv only watched a couple of your videos but you got me now .thank you for your knowledge. And most important your time because in the end that's all we got 😇💪💪
