Kyo always uses his voice as an instrument to fit the song and evoke an emotion, and cares less if it's "beautiful " or not if it gives the emotion he's after. He is amazing to watch live, they all are. They give their all every time. And yeah, Kyo is super fit... You have no idea...

i am thinking how the best vocalists of the world have not education in music from 0, Kyo, Yma sumac, and some other inusual in music like Mozart.
just for saying some names. in how the talent, the skill, is better than theory of music.

I'm honestly digging the fact that more and more people react to such amazing bands like dir en grey. They've been my #1 for like 12 years or even more now. They've created such uniqueness and art throughout all the years, it's mind blowing. On the 28th april they will release their newest single. You should check it out once it's out. Also recommend the world of mercy live and many, many , many more!

Thank you for this reaction! Dir en Grey is definitely a super unique band
You very correctly pointed out that music has no barriers. It is so true. We don't need to fully understand the lyrics to feel the emotion
The title Vinushka probably comes from the Russian word "вина" (guilt) in diminutive form. So, it adds the meaning of something very dear and treasured to the sense. You are right, they used the real footage of victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings both for MV and for the screens but I never tire of repeating that there is no mentioning of any places or events in the lyrics. You can interpret them as you wish and find your own meaning. For me, it is a song about what is "right" and what is "wrong" and our perception of these terms. We often do terrible things and shelter ourselves behind good deeds (and that footage is a great example of that). Or we can label something as evil but in fact, it could be the other way round. Dir en Grey always push you to think and reflect on the topics that they raise
I would love to see more reactions to them from you!
Behind a vacant image (ua-cam.com/video/KApu-ne1Vak/v-deo.html) is a very different song from them that can be a nice continuation :)
And also wanted to recommend to you the second project of Kyo (the vocalist). Sukekiyo is a fully independent band, all members are different except for the vocalist. They are awesome and are very interesting to watch. I always recommend starting from Elisabeth Addict (ua-cam.com/video/sBFIUuzGXvc/v-deo.html)
Thank you again for a very interesting reaction and hope that you'll continue your journey with DeG!
Have a great day or night! ✨

Good reaction! ^^ Thank you so much for that [also to Jason! Man, you are everywhere. I am really greatful that you help making more and more people aware of Dir en grey!]. It's always interesting to see someone react to them for the first time - and even more so when it's not usually 'their thing' [people usually turn the music off or stop listening when they are not filmed which is one of the things I really appreciate about reactions. Whether you end up liking something you felt reluctant about in the first place or not, it at least creates that opportunity]
It would be really cool to see you guys check out a few more of their songs. Kira gave some awesome recommendations!
    Have a great day~

i absolutely love watching dir en grey reactions because i can see ppl getting in shock by their skills and songs. the fact that vinushka isn't even the tip of the iceberg when the topic is dir en grey gives me chills, and i say this while being a fan of them for years and years, i just can't get over it! i wouldn't say vinushka is one of the heaviest because there's ZAN and *a lot* more. one of their most recent songs "the world of mercy" is also a masterpiece like vinushka but the most famous and iconic song of dir en grey is definitely "obscure"!! for a melodical appreciation of the band i recommend "ranunculus" and "ain't afraid to die". my personal favorite songs live are "magayasou" and "different sense". just some recommendations!! music shouldn't have language barriers and i love when you can just appreciate and forget it totally, wich you guys did!

  • @caistigh2062

While I admit this is probably the best version of Vinushka to watch online, I still prefer seeing reactions to the video. They copped the fact it was about the Hiroshima bombs pretty near the end of the song, which makes sense given the live doesn't portray it as well if you're not looking out for it. It's crystal clear in the music video. Though the pain and anger in the song is evident if you just hear it with no visuals at all which is awesome.
How good they are live means reactions rarely use the music videos which are awesome (Yeah, in almost every case there's a better live but damn.. how good are Clever Sleazoid or Obscure? Well, creepy and fucked up more than good but... I stand by it)
I nonetheless love watching people react to Dir En Grey. Since I know it's not likely to get reccommended since it's a lot slower and more chill, I'll suggest Glass Skin. One of the few songs that has an English version too, though it's obviously inferior it's still great.
Also Mr Newsman and Marmalade are strange ones that rarely get reccommended...
    Hopefully this coent gets seen!

The visuals are WWII. Most believe the song is about the propaganda of war and how the sins of a few lead to the suffering of an entire population. Kyo (singer) knows the Japanese government played a role in what happened. He has expressed that both sides (Japan and US) were wrong. Japan refused to surrender and knowingly sacrificed their young men under a facade of duty to country while America had a new weapon and needed a reason to test it.
That said, some believe the visuals simply aid in the visual performance and the song was originally written as a protest to the death penalty in Japan. Some of the lyrics do align with this premise.
