Dir en grey named many different bands they were influenced from, but System of a Down and especially Marilyn Manson is definitely not one of them.
This band already had interviewers ask them but, they never knew who Marilyn Manson was.
TOOL, Pantera, and so much more. They had influence from older era than Manson.

Yeah and even little bit Opeth.

They actually have zero influence from Opeth. As a band, they said they were influenced by Deftones, THE MAD CAPSULE MARKETS, Muse, Nine Inch Nails, Pantera, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool

I am glad you liked it.
If you want to react to more Dir En Grey then I recommend *"Ware Yami Tote" Live (Eng Sub) or "Mushi" Live (Eng SUb).* Both are different to Vinushka sound and somewhat mellow.
I don't know if I would be able to link them without getting my comment deleted.

Hello :) Thank you for the reaction!
I like that you pause to say something and you seemed to really follow the music despite having a chat going on simultainously ^^.
To your questions at the beginning: The concert name 'A view of the Acro' probably refers to the Acropolis in Athens. Anrogynous is an english word that derives from ancient greek and describes a person who appears both male and female [e.g. in the way they act, dress or speak. If a male person - like the chef you mentioned says he is androgynous he might mean that he has attributes that are concived as female by society: He likes to dress up, get's easily emotional or follows other gender norms that are usually attributed to women]
The song itself is not directly about WWII but the video director they worked with took the bombing as an example to what the lyrics talk about [they speak more broadly about human nature - it's not really easy to translate Kyo's poetry but if you look for Kayaちゃんねる or periXreloaded here on UA-cam, they do fantastic jobs in translating these lyrics and give further information/interpretation on the content] and I think he did a fantastic job visualizing the emotions of that song by embedding it into this context [the two 'explosions' on the song equal the two bombings, the middle part shows the black rain that followed and so on - you can find the unrestricted pv on UA-cam as well should you be interested, it's not an easy watch but it makes an important point I think]
I enjoyed your reactions quite a lot because I could feel your feelings by the end of it even if you found it hard to describe them. I hope you will get back to them one day with another reaction or you liked them enough to just listen to moe by yourself. They have a really awesome and diverse discography 😊

@@BetterEveryDayUA-cam It's the least I can do after you put in the effort to record and edit and put yourself on UA-cam. It just makes me insanely happy to see new people discovering this band that I love and think more people should at least know about.
I saw someone recommend mushi and I think that would be wonderful to see. Just be aware that the performance from 2003 [the live here is BLITZ 5 DAYS] contains self-harm. It's certainly the most impactful version of the song, though.
      ua-cam.com/video/4JNsYqlIvzE/v-deo.html
I also really like the one from Mode of Kisou [2017] which appears more 'controlled' from a visual point of view but just as emotional when it comes to vocals and instrumentation
      ua-cam.com/video/1qyR_56Y1sI/v-deo.html
Just in case you like rock with a bit of electronics/industrial sounds mixed with jazzy elements, I would also love to recommend sukekiyo, the second band Kyo sings in. They are an experimental rock band with really creative live shows. They also have incredible ballads but I would love to recommend the song Giji necromancer

MAN ALIVE. If Pink Floyd play death metal in a very bad mood, We still wouldn't get close. All of it. The theatricals, and sounds combined go further than mere experiences. Into a sensation that the English language hasn't got words for. I focused on all 5 videos you provided. I'm infatuated, and will check more in time. Again, I thank you.

Flabbergasted !!!!! Totally. Angelic, satanic, and lots in between. I liked it ,sure. Buy, my goodness!!!! What was it?
Elated, to heavily burdened, is how it effected my emotional state. The music was every bit as good as Nightwish. It's the vocalist !!! Left me both wanting more, and wanting to escape at the same time. Talented? No doubt about that.
Androgynous, I think it describes someone you look at, and can't tell in you're seeing a him or a her.
No wonder you seemed confused during this video.
I ask the who suggested this. Is there more from the band out there, by which we can better understand them as an act? If so, please tell us.

Hey :) It's such a pleasure to see new people getting to know this band.
I am not the person who requested this video but I am a [literally] live long fan [I have attended my first Dir en grey concert IN my mothers belly ^^']. So far thex have released 10 studio records, 2 mini albums and a compilation containing a new song and a bunch of reconstructed/rerecorded/extended versions of older songs - they like to go over their old material frequently so they never stand still with their music and are constantly evolving. This also means that they have a lot of different sounds to offer. I thought I would give you a few songs to start your journey.
For a masterpiece of progressive music: macabre [2013 remake, live from Tabula Rase - the original song was released in 2000]
      ua-cam.com/video/O6PwVRpa8i8/v-deo.html
one of the bands strenghts are ballads, there are lot of really beautiful once but I picked 2007s Conceived Sorrow
      ua-cam.com/video/khGIElV-5-s/v-deo.html
For one of their heavist songs and an incredible performance during a time [2012] in which Kyo was loosing his voice from overexerting it and gaining vocal nodule dysphonia: Decayed Crow [notice that songs THIS haevy are unusual, but still present in their discography]
      ua-cam.com/video/CUGQICV6QM8/v-deo.html
My pick for their 2014 sound [the album here is ARCHE] would be Magayasou - be prepared for insane vocal acrobatics ;)
      ua-cam.com/video/-TQoFfaohBc/v-deo.html
And finally, the song that managed to kick my personal favorite from the throne it comfortably sat on since I remember hearing it first XD - the 2019 single The World of Mercy [ou, to choose from three perfect performances....I want to go with the one held during quarantine conditions in 2020 - played to open the live venue - in front of a completely virtual audience, the concert was live streamed to UA-cam, gives the song even more of a chilling effect_knowing that no-one is actually there]

The video from This channel is of very high quality, the bad thing is that it does not have captions. I will tell you one thing, even during the screams, Kyo(the singer) is actually saying something, compared to the singers of other bands that is just growls.
The guy that plays the aqustic guitar is the one towards the Right infront of the drummer. He sometimes has up to 3 guitars, one hanging and 2 in stands.
Kyo, the singer is also the Lyricist of the band ever since he created it in 1997. 🙃 That's what he says; other fans dispute that, but I have seen interviews in which he says when I created my band.
Well, he also has a second band that he started since 2016, I think named Sukekyo.
Believe it or not, he started on the music industry when he was a teen as a roadie. He now is on his early 40s. He has a very strong presence and he looks like a strong guy. But, Kyo is just around 5 feet tall, some on his profile says he is 5 feet 3 inches which I would dispute. If he usually weights around 100lbs, you can imagine.
*Androgynous* -characteristics of both sexes. It does not mean they have both sexual organs, but it means the way they look, dress and act.
You can Google Dir en grey old images, or images of Kyo from Dir en grey.
Now, about this video, this is in part my opinion and the other is part of what I have heard/read around. Some people say this song is about a criminal and the crimes of that criminal, which I find difficult to believe. For what I gathered and my understanding of the lyrics, it is like pointing the finger to those that create conflicts between political powers, which later become bigger causing wars which kill people. Kyo, basically does not say those exact words, but he uses a lot of metaphor and Japanese Kanji with several meanings.
*"no one wants to talk about the truth that hurry the ears"*
Japan is well known for trying to keep quiet and not trying to acknowledge some of the atrocities they committed during war period, for example:
The Nanjing Massacre, also called Rape of Nanjing (December 1937-January 1938), was the mass killing and the ravaging of Chinese citizens and capitulated soldiers by soldiers of the Japanese Imperial Army after its seizure of Nanjing, China, on December 13, 1937, during the Sino-Japanese War that preceded World War II.

    *"The suppressed mind"*
*"Compensate the sins and let life be gone"*
I also noticed he in the lyrics is talking as a victim point of view.
Described within Japan as the Illusion School (maboroshi-ha), they deny the massacre and argue that only a few POWs and civilians were killed by the Japanese military in Nanjing
Comfort women or comfort girls were women and girls forced into sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese Army in occupied countries and territories before and during World War II
    *Wikipedia*
(there is an extremely sad documentary on this on the channel asian boss)
*Kyo made comments of discomfort of the way things are on his country. Remember, the Japanese government is different to ours and the citizens are still highly suppressed. Kyo, is extremely outspoken and singing is a way to let it all out.
He has said that their songs don't have happy endings and that he likes to write about things that others would find difficult to openly talk about.
One example: song Embryo, in which Kyo takes the perspective of a teenage girl that has been abused by the father. 🤔 The mother probably had some kind of depression, knew about the abuse, couldn't do anything to protect the daughter, she was probably also abused mentally and physically by the husband while the main character was sexually abused by the father. Mother commits suicide, daughter finds her, after all that she finds out she is pregnant from the father, she is tormented with the image of the dead mother. She can't take the abuse (probably goes crazy) and kills the father. 🤔 Maybe the mother was the only think that was stoping her from committing a crime. Oh, well, I am thinking too much. Well, my point is, when the lyrics sound horrendous, for Kyo to be able to put himself in such a vulnerable position to be able to write something so delicate that many would just not want to talk about, it is ballsy. He is extremely admirable.
    *"The suppressed mind"*
*"Compensate the sins and let life be gone"*
