I play the PXG Gen 6 'P" right now but i would love to go back to a set that cut through the turf like the old blades i started with , but now as i have grown older need a little assistance with forgiving and distance. I am wanting to go have my nephew that is currently staffed with Taylormade do a fitting for the P-770. I did happen to hit the 2024 P-770 7iron at a golf galaxy shop in Tulsa and was not really the shaft i am considering but still hit ball very well with accurancy and distance was good. Just felt really good. I did get a fitting on my Gen 6 with a local PXG rep and I had to go back to a pro shop in Tulsa to get my regular fitter to help me straighten out my iron issues. He agreed my fitting was not right for my swing but thankfully he help me survive with them and know I am ready to get a club in my hand that I like! I was fitted with the new Black Ops 9 degree with ADi s6 shaft cant hit it all! Called fitter and nothing they could do! I purchased a usedGen 5 xf head 10.5, and just no comparison with results just get it out there. But i am excited to get into Taylormade woods and have fun again. I have struggled to keep my handicap around 9-10 with all this mess. I played a club 3 man event with my nephew, and he said i will gain more accuracy and distance with the new Taylormade equipment. I am so excited for next season and get that handicap down. I am sorry to say but customer service can be issue with your competitor! Thanks for all the videos, wished you were closer!
Trottie, please nudge whoever’s in charge of custom shaft choices to look at adding some heavier graphite options beyond the MMTs, if possible! I just ordered a set of P770s, 5-PW, and am having them built up with Axiom 105X. I love the P7CBs but I tend to deliver too little dynamic loft, and was just seeing terrific launch, peak height and landing angles out of the P770s. Really excited to get these in the bag. My fourth-longest club is actually a 25 degree hybrid. (Like I said, deliver too little dynamic loft … so I rely a lot on higher-lofted woods and hybrids.) I’d love to give TaylorMade a shot at that spot in my bag too, if there’s ever a way to bend their hybrids’ lie angles flatter.
That silky swing, those crispy strikes, the way he sounds like hes just having a good chat with you and explaining things, man trottie is selling to me with style and im loving every second of it! The irons dont look half bad either 😂
I've always been confused about the speed pocket. Has there been any issues with it and why doesn't it stop with the 5 iron. I really don't want a hot face on my 7 iron. This is in no way a dig at you or TM. I am not that great of a golfer, but I tend to hit chunky irons fat because of my delivery. I get along better with thin soles but can't hit the sweet spot. Very interested in these
Good question. The speed pocket has evolved so much since the early days of RBZ irons (that won majors BTW - Rose US Open) It's there for lower face strikes, which a lot of us have when it comes to irons. The speed pocket stops at the 7i as it's not required for the loft on an 8i, meaning most folks can comfortably hit an 8i out the center so speed pocket irrelevant. Then add in the loft you have on the 8i V's the launch (spin loft) and you're just not gonna create a correlation between the two that really requires a speed pocket to see the gains. Bottom line - short irons don't need the pocket.
Trottie, keep the content coming. I'm confused though, are you telling me that I have to switch golf balls and modify lofts on these irons to make them playable?
thx and no. what I'm saying is you may need to change ball if you don't spin this model enough for your speed BUT that's the case with all irons. For me personally to test this in the correct manner I needed to recognize that a golf ball change could have been something to consider.
Hey trottie I'm trying to gap my bag and notice the custom option is gone on th hitoe wedges...are they coming out with a new gen or doing away with them and I need to just buy what I want?
How would you say these feel compared to the previous 770s? Tempted by the softer feel from the older P7MC and thinking of going for a 770 and 7cb combo set. Also, if you don't mind - what would be the difference between a stock A(pproach wedge) vs a 50 degree wedge. I mostly use the 50 for full shots and I am considering just buying the stock A wedge. Thanks for the vids Trottie!!
Okay so the combo vid between these two is coming, stay tuned on that. Then your 50* question V's the A wedge. I gotchu on that here: ua-cam.com/video/BxbwCAADkOY/v-deo.htmlsi=qW9NSZlZDcxmMK1E
@@lassewa8326 yea that’s a thing. Folks don’t generally go stronger in tour because of the lower spin from those models at speed but yes you can strengthen them
@@trottiegolf so i could strengthen my P770 by 1 or 2 degrees without any problems ? Or does that mess up any other things like lie angels ? I love the p770 but i could just need a few more yards. I prefer the P770 over P790s.
@@BraydenKirven my Clippd data shows my approach play isn’t where it needs to be. Now look, there are many reasons for that, not just clubs. These look amazing easily the best looking iron TM have ever released. I love my 790 which I got for for about a year ago, but it’s been a hard transition visually from my rac tour combo which I had for about 12 years. Do these get much distance drop off on misfits compared to the 790 ? Feel like I very very rarely loose much distance which is a plus but do feel like I loose a little playability and shot shaping.
With indoor fitting that's something you would look at yes. Keep in mind attack angles and launch numbers. I feel like this video gives quite a good insight into the ideal numbers for relatively solid speed: ua-cam.com/video/ll_EfeKlf9o/v-deo.htmlsi=dMFBQaAA9AKHQpuM
