I've just made the switch. It was mainly driven by moving to graphite shafts to help elbow tendonitis, but I definitely found an improvement with the new clubs, especially on poorer strikes. My old ones were very well-fitted, but the new ones are just performing a little bit better. My only caveat would be that if it wasn't for my tendonitis issue, I wouldn't even have considered switching.
Considering the regulatory constraints, manufacturers are achieving technical improvements, that in itself is impressive. Whilst i agree you wouldn’t change if you already have the old P770, i think you would get fitted for new if in the market. Whilst the old version would be cheap in the resale space, getting well fitted for a set for the next 5-8 years makes sense to me. And hey, who doesn’t like shiny new clubs in the bag?
Everyone loves shiny new stuff, and if you are in the market for irons and you can afford it, why not get properly fitted for the most modern equipment that will last at least for the next 5 years 👍
Very nice review. I just got the previous model of the p770. With the dynamic gold 120 shaft they are probably the nicest set of irons I've ever purchased. My previous set of irons were the Srixon zx5mkii, they were really good set of irons as well however these for some reason just feel better to me. I've had two other sets of Taylor Maids throughout the years but just wow the p770 is just an incredible iron set.
I have the 2023 p770 and love them. Gives me what I need. Key for me was adjusting lie, length and picking the right shaft and right grip. They blow away my previous pxgs for consistency, reliability and accuracy even if a slight trade off in feel on mis hits. Cannot see why anyone would go for the new model if properly fitted for the previous one. As I also only use 6-pw (no gw for lefties!) any slight advantage in the longer clubs are irrelevant at least in my case.
The other reason to trade up to the new ones is for a mixed set with the P 7MC's. So softer feel, slightly more forgiveness and slightly more compact? Can these be built to D0 or D1? Good video Jay.
I would have to say that on first thoughts that yes the P770 would be, although the Blueprint S irons would 'feel' much better due to the metal used and relative lack of tech compared to the P770 👍🏻
Using Cool Clubs data for the Blueprint S and Jays P770 , the P770 wins on Smash forgiveness and is about 5 yards longer at 90PMH club, it loses about 8% spin vs the Ping.
Well if anyone has a contact St Titleist that will actually converse with me then I'd be absolutely more than happy to... Although Titleist are the most difficult to actually speak with a human to discuss things like this than all the manufacturers. It's a total pain being honest 👍🏻
Unfortunately I haven't got one of the old heads to use for a test, otherwise if there was the call for it, then I would happily spend the time to do it 👍🏻
Club choices shouldn't be pigeon holed by handicap as every golfers handicap is made up of their unique way to lose shots. Mainly should be done on requirement for miss strike forgiveness, requirement for ball speed and needs of launch. Depending on those factors, you can choose what type of irons to look at. I did a video on my channel on how to choose your irons, can be found on my channel listing 👍 and one especially for the Mizuno lineup 👍
@@AskGolfNut Thanks a lot Jay! You are the best 👌I'll take a look at the Mizuno lineup. On a separate note, when you get a chance, please review the new PXG Gen 7 P irons. I would love to hear your feedback.
Hey mate, currently gaming t100 irons and looking for something a little more forgiving. Would you suggest looking at the p770 irons. Have always been curious. Thanks great comparison.
Absolutely I'd suggest giving them a test, everyone reacts to different clubs differently so worse case scenario the don't gain on your current gamers.... But best case..... 👍🏻👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut yeah my thoughts exactly. Play off 2 currently and not really looking to shape heaps just consistency when it comes to miss hits. Booked in next week to test
Probably the really really old stuff, but most of the irons which aren't used after upgrades are either given to family members or sold on the 2nd hand market. So really only fairly old clubs.....Any trip to a local recycling depot which holds on to certain things that people throw away, you'll see the general age of the golf club waste.. 👍
I'd agree with the get lessons advice 99 times out of 100. So so important to ensure you have a decent delivery at impact to get the most out of any equipment purchase 👍
Why would anyone even consider 'upgrading a 2 year old iron? There will be no difference no matter what the model. Unless your handicap has changed drastically a set of irons should be good for 10 years at least.
After this being the 3rd weird comment of the day surrounding topics of complete irrelevancy I have to wonder when these bots will ever stop posting daft comments.... 🤷
I places it's being marketed as their 2025 iron as its 2024 late release into all of 2025 and some of 2026.....i don't disagree with you, it's just how some not all see the dating 👍🏻
Your channel and cool clubs robot reviews are the only channels worth watching for real equipment reviews 🙌🏻
I would agree but I pride myself on being unbiased 😂😂😂👍👍👍

Probably the busiest man on YT. Keep up the excellent work Jay.
Defo the one that puts the most work into the measurements and critique of how the clubs work 😀👍
Got my answer, I'll be holding on to my old 770s for a few more seasons

You have the best reviews hands down, sir. Keep the great content rolling
Thank you so much for the kind feedback, really glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻
Thanks Mr Bickley for the info 😊

As I thought from the individual review data that low strike speed retention is remarkable
Defo becoming one of the stand out so far for 2024 👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut Are you able to weigh the P770 head ?
It's the fitting head so wouldn't give the correct weight of the retail standard head 😐👍🏻

I echo others comments, very easy to see how each club that is being compared stacks up in as controlled an environment as possible
Whoops haven't seen those other comments yet... What are they saying? All good I hope 😊🤞🤞
Honestly surprised you don’t have 100k plus subscribers. Keep up the great reviews 👍
I know, why stop there, lets go for 1 Million 😀 in all honesty though, the only thing to blame here is the UA-cam algorithm 🤷♂️

I would have thought that you could def get close, especially if you are adding weight to the grip end via more tapes or thicker grips 👍
Another great comparison video!
Thanks again for the kind feedback, glad to know my hard work is appreciated 👍
Good you do a comparison or heads on with the qi10 LS and the stealth 2 plus. Thank you
Great information. Your subscriber count is borderline criminal. Nobody else provides the same testing and data.
I absolutely agree and that is the only allowed bias comment from my mouth 🤣👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent, wise advice as always. Agree with all the other positive comments.
Thanks very much for the kind feedback 👍🏻
Hi Jay are the P770 irons any more forgiving than my Ping blueprint s irons. Great demo thank you 😊

Now for the ultimate test. How do they stack up against the T150’s at the same loft ?

Putting the data to one side, I genuinely can't decide which one I prefer the looks of... leaning towards the new one I think (simple design).
I agree, absolutely, the plain sleeker look is a defo win in my book..... again thats subjective so not much in the way of useful 🙂👍
Hey Jay, I would really like to see a comparison between the 2021 P770 and the new model, purely for selfish reasons
Unfortunately I haven't got one of the old heads to use for a test, otherwise if there was the call for it, then I would happily spend the time to do it 👍🏻
Better in every way, if only by a little bit. Very impressive job by TaylorMade. I think they are clearly going after Titleist T100/T150.
Do you think they are equal to titleist or just chasing?
I'd be absolutely amazed if teh Titleist irons are any better... They are all chasing the similar market within the same parameters. 👍🏻
Did you do a forgiveness test/review on the Titleist T-150?
Hey, how would these compare to the T150 and T100. Which do they compete with?
My pocket right now

Someone grab a glass of water 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you. It’s about money….😊😊😊😊
Thanks a lot bud great review! What handicap usually plays P770? What will be a comparable Mizunos to these clubs

@dgtiger I would to but PXG aren't replying to my attempts to contact them in trying and testing their equipment 🤷👍🏻
Thats not the old one, just the previous model. I have the 2020 model 770, thinking about changing to these. Worth it?
I have the 2019s.

New ones look better, and will make the old ones cheaper. Win-win really
The 2023 versions look better imo too
Wonder how many £millions worth of clubs are sent to recycling every year?

Not a bad suggestion 👍🏻👍🏻
