Definitely more of an entertainer than preacher. A televangelist with more than a touch of pro wrestling. Like a train wreck, you just had to drop in and watch.

Our pastor growing up saw him on late-night TV, Channel 38 Chicago, wearing a Panama hat, smoking a cigar, threatening to stop Bible teaching unless more donations came in, and he played "Kill a Pissant for Jesus" to get the audience going. From that, Pastor thought Scott & other Christians were nuts. God drew Pastor to Christ later. He still thinks Scott was nuts.

For 25 years I got the majority of my teaching from Doc. You might not like the way he served it up but what he taught was the truth and nothing but the truth. I know that's true because I've been a Christian for 46 years now and I learned from the original Greek manuscripts and most of the translations (stick with the KJV).
Paul taught the three major reasons for giving to the one who teaches you and they are
    1. To demonstrate the genuineness of God's Spirit in you by the way you give... God gave his son and if His Spirit is in you, then you'll be a giver
    2. Is to show the sincerity of your love for God... The first and greatest commandment as Jesus taught us. And
    3. Is to demonstrate, to God, a value judgment of the knowledge of the words of eternal life that you have learned from your teacher. i.e. these are the words of eternal life! What's THAT knowledge worth?
So, I can understand Doc's anger toward those who have learned from him and would not support his ministry. And yeah, he may have been God's angry man... But he was also God's man for the job.
And there Ya GO! 😇 Be a 📖🐛

Amen. I was just thinking how often those who are the most cynical and suspicious of the motives of others when it comes to money and say things like"It's a scam for the money. All they care about is getting your money but God doesn't care about money and neither should we." But the problem with that is if you truly don't care about money and accuse others of being greedy, then why are so afraid to give away the very thing that you claim God doesn't care about and that it's not about money?
And I'm not saying there aren't wolves in sheep's clothes who are con artists but if you're so worried about everyone being a con artist that you aren't willing to give generously, perhaps it's you who's conning yourself and perhaps it's you who over values money and is greedy. Even those who have given money to televangelists who were wolves in sheep's clothes, they themselves were willing to give to a cause that they believed in to serve God and I believe that God will always bless those people as opposed to those who keep their money guarded and aren't willing to give out an over abundance of caution as to not be duped into giving to someone who's not truly dedicated to serving God's will.
I'd like to start an online 'televangelist' church that takes donations but I'd like to do it where every dime taken in is accounted for and transparent so that every member who donates can know where the money is going and even have a say in what causes it's going towards. I think that'd be cool.
But either way, I think the blessing is in the giving and not so much in where the money goes after it's been given (although that's a great secondary benefit and shame on those who would deceive believers in Christ into giving them money only for it to be used on extravagant homes, boats, cars, and jewelry. God will not look kindly on those wolves in sheep's clothes and blaspheme His good name for their own sordid gain and for their own love of money).
      God bless.

I remember seeing Dr. Scott on TV when we first moved to California he had a program where he had wind-up monkeys smashing cymbals. Of which he used his cane to smash when someone in the government claimed his organization wasn't a non-profit group. Please, Clinton Foundation, hello. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, hello? He was completely correct in his assertions. My dad was a pastor who went through Bible school, I believe he met Dr. Scott who was at his university and spoke on the reality and proofs of the trinity. There are quite a few Scholars Scott was communicating with Jewish rabbis who had shared with Dr. Scott about the different things they found in the New Testament that weren't only indicative of Jewish authors but also authors who knew about Kaballah. Especially the prayer ending "For Thine is the Kingdom The power and the Glory. Also something that fed the Anti-Charismathic groups in Dr. Scott assertion that the language of "angels" tongues. In Moses' timeline when he gave the authority to others in order to address daily problems within the camps of Israelites. One other thing that the Doctor explained was a Arenal photo that was taken which showed a pattern in the Arabian peninsula where the real Sinai is actually located. That through the sand it was claimed a great pattern under the sand showed great trails as if millions of people had transported themselves over that area. The scientists claimed it was explainable with evolution. I guess some monkeys became trails around Arabia. How could they have kept themselves alive with no water in those areas. Thank you for your writings much greater than a failed English elementary school failure here.

And Doc couldn't leave it there, the principle that is. I remember him mentioning hilarious giving during his rage episodes on festival which negates that whole principle. If his congregation wouldn't hilariously give enough then he would verbally beat it out of them. And then there is his misrepresentation of tithing just to get more money out of people which really became a legalistic crutch. He wasn't so principled.

Praise God for Dr. Gene Scott. There has never been nor will there ever be another like him imo. To all those who think he was just out for money. Your brains are too small to understand the magnitude of what he was teaching. He brought dignity to the subject and activity of biblical giving. God loves hilarious givers, and hates tight wads, yes He absolutely cannot stand them. Dr. Gene Scott was the only preacher with the balls to stare into a camera and tell his audience that if you are not hilarious givers then you are on your way to hell. And the reason you are not hilarious givers is because you don't have the giving spirit of God working in you. And the reason you don't have the giving spirit of God working in you is because you don't practice faith in God's promises.
But he also taught that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. And that's what he did for 50 plus years, faithfully taught the promises of God as they are revealed in His Word. Surely that counts for something, no?
Anyway, I recommend listening to VF-508, in this lecture he breaks down the the arguments for and against the Resurrection of Jesus, without which there is no basis for the Christian Faith. This message convinced me that Jesus rose from the dead as a fact of history. Check it out, its a blast. The Doc was deadly serious about God but he was also charismatic, funny, fun loving, generous, hard working and a giant in intellect. And no he wasn't perfect, nor did he ever claim to be, he always reseved that accolade for Jesus alone.

I attended his church in the early 80s until an incident in which I was involved gave me a "peak behind the curtain" and I and two others discovered how untruthful he reported the situation to the public on the air leaving us dumbfounded and confused and forever unable to believe another word he said from them on. For years I thought he "went bad" only to find out he was corrupt from the start but very good at pretending to be something that he was not. By their fruit you will know them and his fruit is rotten.
    Jude 1:8,10-13 KJV
Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. [10] But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. [11] Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. [12] These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; [13] Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

Back in the 80's there was a channel that aired Gene Scott 24 hours a day. I'd pause a few seconds to watch this guy rant and rave before moving on. Then during the Craig Kilborn and Jon Stewart era of The Daily Show they had a segment called God Stuff hosted by John Bloom (aka Joe Bob Briggs) and they'd frequently include a clip of Dr. Scott looking like a holy pitbull or berating one of the crew due to some technical difficulties that were not checked before they went on air. I imagine the crew changed frequently as a result of this type of childish behaviour. He seems to be a perfect subject for Herzog.

Indeed the same spirit that operated in Brother Stair. He would complain about his sound, that sounded fine for those listening - just not to the liking of the deaf Stair, and belittle his technicians. They were used, as were all, for scapegoats so that the Big Man was never the problem. RG Stair would also blame his tech's for airing his embarrassing or revealing rants - apparently he had no means of stopping his own evil spirits exposing himself.

Stair might shout and roar and Scott might have a more soft approach but the message is the same. Scott does his fair share of shouting too.

I heard Stair use the writings in the book of Acts comparing those who don't give all to him in reference to Ananias and Sapphira who withheld a portion. This was used out of context in order to defraud brothers and sisters of all. You and others would know this if you moved into a Community. Furthermore the control got more and more oppressive as time progressed. Stair held all the leverage to threaten to evict brothers and sisters at that point and did so for any reason. He put people down with name calling and told us to go to hell. He mocked us and taunted us. There were so many witnesses to his ungodly sexual advances. I remember 1 precious sister, a virgin was assigned a 4 AM shift in the kitchen and Stair knew she was alone. He went and sodomized her as she wept on the kitchen floor while she covered her face with her hands. This was not consensual. Only a cruel man would misuse the spiritual authority he claimed to have to objectify these sisters in this manner. Another sister had a terrible outbreak around her mouth from having oral sex with Stair. When she had begged him to leave her alone Stair said, "Don't you want to please the Lord?" Stair was a reprobate and viewed sisters as a way to vent his filthy perversion onto. Pray for those that were harmed. Stair will give account before Jesus Christ. This should cause others to tremble that supported him, the most inner circle that made it appear a godly Community and allowed themselves to help draft others to take the place of those who left. They know and some of them had daughters that were sexually assaulted but betrayed their own precious daughters and stayed for decades now watching the same exact thing happen to other sisters. They only aided and abetted a sexual criminal in a perpetual cycle as Stair never repented. I deeply regret not knowing all this and moving there with my family in the 90's. It would have spared me much grief and sorrow if we had known the truth.

Stair obviously copied this persona. He didn't have a genuine personality but put on a different mannerism to suit the moment as neccessary. I heard him "play" the black preacher many times as well complete with exaggerated speech cadence and Southern accent. He was a phony and a copy cat. Underneath it all he was a weak coward who targeted brothers and sisters with cunning precision to offend and harm their faith.

@@microcults9827 I'm updating my responce as of 3/22. The topic of this video is on late Gene Scott. Has nothing to do with Ralph Stair. I've been seeing Gene Scott on TV since my early teens. I can't consider his ministry a cult. I've took classes on cults in college. Let's make it simple. Musicians, Politicians, News Commentators, Actors, copy and rip off others. Preachers do the same. H.W. Armstrong was a original. No telling how many have rip off him. As of this writing, Ukraine is being blasted by a thug named Valdimir Puntin, and our stupid President, Joe Biden wants to make deals with wanna be deal thugs like Puntin? Dan Bongino has said it best, Joe Biden is the worst President in U.S. History and Joe Biden is a rip off, President Zelenskyy of Ukraine is a real leader.

Dr. Gene Scott had a IQ of 210 according to a Stanford Professor. He had a photographic memory. He knew the Bible inside and out. His early years of teaching through the Bible was very scholarly. He started a to get angry when his wife divorced him, because he would cut his relationship with his mother. That's when things changed.

He ran the place like a tyrannical third world dictator. He also mentioned during the years I was in his church how he would barricade the doors with communion tables if he was getting raided by the Feds which I felt secretly was scarry and unnecessary.

When I used to see him on a local UHF late night as a teenager, I thought he was completely crazy. Only in the following decades when I found his incredible Bible teaching did I realize his value.
He was the best of teachers, and he was the worst of teachers. You heard him hint at some of it here. I truly believe he believed with every fiber of his being, and that's why he couldn't let so much of this go. At the same time, he was so brilliant that he battled his capacity to sin. He knew he could sin and not get caught, yet he also believe God would destroy Him if He saw fit He was a man of intense strengths and intense weaknesses.
Shame on the makers of this documentary for not even showing a minute of his Bible teachings. When he wasn't ranting about the FCC, he could bring the scriptures to life.
He didn't get it all right... but none of us do. He'd be the first to quote 1 John 1:8 which says, "if we claim to be with out sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth isn't in us." I have no doubt Dr. Scott was a fierce sinner... and he knew it... and that's why he fought so fiercely for what he believed was God's work.
They say the body of Christ is made up of many parts; I could imagine Dr. Scott saying he was the armpit of Christ (or an even stinkier part of the body?). I think he filled a very unique need. After many decades of hearing his teachings, I've come to the conclusion that he was more sincere than 90% of the teachers you see on television today.
