For me after the Reiner revealed their true identities it was Bertholdt's eyes that are the correlation for me. After re watching the series in Season 1 and seeing the colossal look at eren its exactly the same as Bertholdt when he looks at othe people imo.
Eyes and head shape. Bert without hair has the exact same shape. You can see in the previous episode when the lightning flashes on him when transforming, it flickers to his colossal face for a few frames.

Right on I never connected those dots but bravo. You make a really good point that I have thought about though, the colossal titans expression from day one. At first it his stern sublime face is seemingly there to just make the behemoth uncanny and fightening. But knowing all that we know about Bert, that face perfectly reflects how he feels about what he does, forcing himself to do it anyways. It's crazy
Just wanted to say that Annie's way of fighting is a Muay Thai stand, both of her hands protecting her face, one leg in front of the other and doing little jumps with that leg so you can throw kicks whenever you want (season 1 ep 21).

In fact, to that the same conversation; at some point they mention how the Female Titan attacked from the right flank, and that Reiner and Bertolt could have told Annie... and Sasha wonders what Annie has to do with any of this; because she doesn't even know she is the Female Titan at that point of the discussion.
You guys keep mentioning the birds. A big theme of AoT is freedom. What Eren desires the most is freedom - freedom from the titans, freedom to live outside the walls. I believe that's what the birds represent. That's what we also saw in Levi OVA with his friend who wanted to be free like a bird.
I know that in Japanese culture birds mean something spiritual like messengers of the gods, between life and death, I think birds means that there is something higher than these people behind the walls and titans
@@ReinFrozen This show draws very heavily from European culture for its symbolism and a large portion of its general worldbuilding (names, ideas, places, etc.) - and as far as my knowledge goes, doesn't actually tap into very many Japanese cultural symbols throughout its story - and since the feathered wings of the Scouts are directly referred to as "The Wings of Freedom", I'm actually inclined to believe that the birds appearing in the show are just very simply a metaphor for freedom that humanity doesn't have.
About the fight between Mikasa and Annie, this was asked before to Isayama, the author of the manga and his answer was that Keith appeared and stopped the fight ordering everyone to go to bed. So no one won and we will never know which of the two would have won that fight if it wasnt stopped.

He is not controlling the Colossal, he just called for his friend to help, And no Colossal wasn't decomposing, he used his rips to plant himself to the wall, when Reiner called he broke them so he could fall.
The briefing about Annie was the same briefing about Reiner and Bertoto😂, so they don't even know that Annie was already captured, the breaching of Wall Rose happened simultaneously as Eren's fight with Annie in Wall Sina. Hope this helps with keeping up with the time.

When Sasha interrupts Pastor Nick's speech about Christa, she is bringing Hanji the document she requested, i.e. the background information about Reiner and Bert! so they happen in two consecutive nights
Now that we're at this point, I think we can help you solidify the timeline of the past 10 episodes. The expedition beyond Wall Rose from Calaneth district was primarily to establish a supply line to Trost district, and from there, to Shiganshina, in order to seal the wall and begin the process of retaking Wall Maria's territory. This took place about a month after the Battle of Trost (that's a reference point, Trost was about a month ago). However, Erwin also had the ulterior motive of smoking out spies in the ranks, which succeeded with the appearance of the Female Titan (Annie), and the subsequent loss of Levi Squad and many members of the Scouts in the attempt to capture her, then retrieve Eren, and ultimately return to Calaneth. The next day? Maybe two? Erwin again gambled by disguising Jean as Eren and executing the plan to capture Annie, based on the knowledge they had obtained from Armin, in Stohess district on the outer edge of Wall Sina. This of course resulted in the battle between Eren and Annie and Annie's crystallization and the revelation of a titan inside the wall. AT THE SAME TIME (!!!!!), the rest of the cadets are housed between Ermich district on Wall Sina and Trost district on Wall Rose. Here they encounter the waves of titans, along with the Beast Titan. Sasha saves the child and gathers the information about Reiner and Bertholdt, then brings it to Hange and Levi in Stohess. Conny, Reiner, and Bertholdt come across Conny's village of Ragako with the upside-down titan. @@tey5471 Sasha after saving the little girl ends up in trost and gets the info from erwin and is tasked by him to get the info to hange, who was already evacuating from trost, erwin also takes most of the scouts and the horses and goes a long the wall north to fight at the supposed hole while hange and I believe 2-3 squads go into wall rose from trost straight to utgard as it would be a good defensible position to assess damage from. They didn't have any idea that thei remaining 104th would be there along with Bert and riener. Edit, I'm not entirely sure if erwin is in calenth or trost when the rose incident happens but either way Sasha ends up at the same place as him and is sent on courier duty to get the document to hange and hanges team departs from trost at night.

They all leave Stohess as the same time. - they all leave to go first to Ermich, on the south of wall Sina (traveling inside Wall Sina for safety). Erwin's group (including Jean), on horseback, travels faster than Hange's and Levi's group, on carriages. - Erwin's group is the first one to reach Ermich; there, they meet Sasha and Erwin tasks her with waiting for Hange to give her the background report on Annie (I don't know when Erwin got the report himself). Then Erwin's group leaves Ermich for Trost. - Later on, Hange's and Levi's group arrives at Ermich and meets Sasha. They decide to leave for Utgard on horseback (leaving Levi and Pastor Nick behind).
Actually AOT is the only Anime i know where even the 5th Rewatch of the whole show can be better than the first time. The connectivity of each scene,facialexpression,soundtrack and plot is insane. Literally every detail is a hint or a foreshadow to another detail in another episode. The first aot rewatch is a must have i would say bc ur understanding of this rises instantly from the first episode :D cant wait you guys to catch up u make my day everytime you upload aot *-*

I found you guys a couple of days ago when I was recommended your reaction to Enemy and Get Jinxed (I have been playing league since season 2, around 2012 or so) and I watched all of your videos on the league cinematics and music videos. I really like all of your discussions and how you're interested in learning about the lore. After I finished watching all of the league content I saw that you guys had recently started watching Attack on Titan as well and I myself actually watched it a long while back but never finished the second season so I thought I would finally continue watching it and that watching your videos could be a good recap for me. funnily enough you guys JUST caught up to where I left off so this was really perfect for me and I really enjoy all of your theories and discussions about the show.
Huge respect for Hange here. We all know how Hange is when it comes to Titans. Hange can be crazy and all excited to intelligent titans like Eren and the Female Titan, but when it comes to Bert, Hange knows when to separate curiosity from being a soldier and they really went for Bert like that without any hesitation.
If you look back at the last episode during Reiner and Bert's transformation as the lightning strikes them for a split second you can see of their faces turn into their titan's face and as for what was happening with the colossal at the end there remember that he was continuously letting off steam to stop the others from attacking him with the ODM gear so he was slowly losing energy and in turn his titan form was shriveling up which is why by the end there most of the meat on him was gone. Connie wasn't there with them when Hange was informing everyone that Reiner and Bert came along with Annie since he was with the group who were told to stay back at their base.

I've seen enough bloopers from ange and carlie to know that ya'll aren't acting like you don't know what's happening :P :D (no offense we love u guys!) And I've kept some notes for myself similar to that other patreon AFTER some certain episodes to tell you to go and rewatch an old episode and see little foreshadowings. another one of those foreshadowings is that Eren was a titan at the time he was trying out his broken ODM gear. He smashed his head on the ground right? During the dinner scene right after, you can see STEAM coming out of Eren's forehead as the wound is healing without him knowing :D
14:26 - keep in mind, Sasha, Connie, Ymir and the gang weren't with Eren and the rest of the scouts when they came to the conclusion that Reiner and Bert were Titans. They were all trapped in that tower together after searching the wall for holes.
I like how Bertholdt is such a ninja that he is the colossal titan and RIGHT THERE and so many people forget about him when Reiner calls out. Also, Reiner moves him and Eren several times to get underneath the colossal titan, so that is what he was trying to do when he was dragging Eren on the ground. That is also not the full colossal titan, just a partial transformation (his upper half). Ange got it right. Reiner's scream at the end was a signal for Bert to focus the decomposition of the Colossal Titan's rib on that one side so he could fall on Reiner and Eren. One ability that the Colossal has been established to use is generating steam, and rapidly decomposing the titan body, that's how the Colossal disappeared in both attacks in S1.
I just like being here for all of your theories they are imaginative beyond all comparison some spot on and others WAY off but I enjoy the ride regardless. Can't wait till you catch up. Till then see you on the other side of the wall 😶🌫️

"The colossal titan is an underpowered titan." Oh boy… :D The different groups and the back and forth time skipping makes this all a bit confusing but the whole first half of this season spans over those 12 hours that we saw when the group of Connie & Sasha were unarmed rescuing the villages around their guard post that they got stationed at. Then there were the two groups with Hannes that were riding along the walls to find the alleged hole in that entire time, meeting each other when it got night time. At this point the first group was sheltering in the ruins. The group with Mikasa & Eren weren't there at all until they reached the ruins just in time, and they were the only ones with gear and knowledge about Reiner & Bertolt. That's why they also swallowed that random scout, because one set of gear they could take from Eren, but they still had to get another set for Bert or Reiner to make their escape. Looking forward to see if Carlie will still be that loyal to Eren in S4. :)
Dont feel bad about missing details like bert, Ive never once come across a person that noticed that while the tower was falling. They are pretty much designed to be missed and enchance a rewatch experience. Well, there WERE no details about Bert to pick up or pay attention to, and that was purposefully done. So, there was nothing that they have to worry about missing.
For anyone who likes electronic music - Slushii has an AMAZING remix of the vocals from this episode & a song from the OST for attack on Titan. Easily one of the best remixes I’ve heard, and Eren’s vocals as he turns into a Titan fit sooooo well.
I really like how i can go through this journey again, through watching the reaction of you two. I know my first watch through, i missed allot of details as well and this allows me to find the missing pieces about things i couldn't figure out the first time. Waiting for the next one!, can't go fast enough haha.
Attack on Titan is a great show watching it the first time around with all of the twists and turns that you might or might not expect. But where the show really shines is when you watch it a second time, having the hindsight of knowing the plot twists. Then you start noticing small details hidden in plain sight. There are scenes in the very firsts episodes while they are still training and just having dinner at the barracks and Eren talks about the attack on Shiganshina and about the Colossal and Armored and the camera just shoots to Rainer and Bertoldt listening in and throwing shady looks at Eren. Annie does the same too. And also the best detail about season 1 is when you watch the scene of Eren bursting out of the bearded titan and you can see for a fraction of a second, Armin kneeling on the roof blacked out in shock of just witnessing Eren being eaten. Eren bursting out happened literal seconds after he was eaten, but Armin was in such a shock, that he didn't even notice that. I love this show to death.
That AOT for you... When you think season 1 was great but then you start season 2 and just realize this season is even better than 1 but when you start season 3 part 1 you'll be like this is even better than previous one then season 3 part where you'll be like this is peak nothing can top this.. this needs to be the best in AOT and BOOOM season 4 and you'll be exhausted out of excitement that nothing can surprise you now then guess what season 4 part BANG....!!!!!! That's the beauty of Attack on Titan Baby...!!!!!💜🔥❤🔥
tbf it wasn't till the last year or so that I even learned about bert going to bite his hand i think most people missed it on their first watch and either catch it on a rewatch or like me from reactors who notice things
I hope this isn’t taken as a spoiler in any way but I stand by the opinion that is the probably THE titular episode of strength and willpower grappling with each other. I still come back to this and find myself in awe of the animation and choreography. The animators could’ve very easily stuck in basic fighting with key points but they really went all out
Bert used that steam against Eren the second time he showed up in 1x4 and 5 but Eren pushed through it in just ODM gear but hange and them just now couldnt
Maybe the use of force was different. Against Eren, Bert was trying to vanish, now Bert is very intentionally trying to keep enemies away from him while persisting as a titan.

In a way, I felt like he was the most similar to Eren. He understood they're not the devils they were told they'd be, and yet understood that they had to die and was going to kill them all regardless, just like Eren in S4.

Ange is spot on to write about metal armor being used in past wars. Armor like that is useless against Titans, at best, it will slow you down and make you a sitting duck. This meant that at some point in the past, possibly the distant past, humans were fighting humans.

i watched this show so many times already and i still realize i missed some details every single time. lol you guys are doing pretty well cos you're oftentimes composed and paying close attention. meanwhile, i was just screaming and dumb-founded the first time since i binged s1-s3 for days straight. and honestly i had zero idea what i was getting in to. my bro was just like "wanna watch aot with me?" and i'm like "well... titans? hmm. fine..." rest is history. hahahaha thing is, if you've watched so many animes, you kinda have some sort of expectation. no matter how different the stories are, there are certain tropes that are quite common. my anime watching sense is different for when i watch tv series. for example, reiner and bertholdt's reveal shocked the shiizzzz out of me that i started crying cos i personally love side characters and i kinda expect them to be oftentimes just a background character in its very essence. the few moments they were on screen, i was already very satisfied. but in aot, it was just not the case. they were my comfort characters for s1... you know? those characters that are just there but you quietly and sometimes even unconsciously support. lol then the reveal of such really struck me. i was not expecting it at all. this is why i stopped calling AoT an anime cos it felt like it's limiting to what AoT is. which, to me, is a magnificent story regardless of what media it comes as.
If you two liked the fight in this ep the UA-cam channel scenic fights do a really cool breakdown of the fight, it's a good watch even if it's just in your own time rather then a reaction
Crazy thing that I love about this season, is that it only covers 2 days and 1 night of the story. You can just imagine how important those two days are in the History of their world haha
You guys may already know this but the reason the Colossal titan decomposed was because it was using steam to protect himself against the scouts, and the more he releases the steam the more the titan decomposes.

i think bert looks so much like the colossal titan. the eyes, long face and tall body. also just standing there.. being quiet but making damage. just pops up when he has to and then quietly disappears. that's so him. and since the colossal is like completely skinless it makes sense he grows no hair.
me just realizing the smallest of lines by mikasa carrying so much plot weight. "if only i cut off their heads, I should have been able to, so why?" ugh the realization.
This season has the best animation, coloring/shading, storytelling structure of all seasons, one of the reasons for it is that the studio had 4 years to created such detailed and beautiful work.

Those birds we see flying past the wall are also usually cormorants, an aquatic bird. It was a big hint that the walls are close to the sea

When Sasha interrupts Pastor Nick's speech about Christa, she is bringing Hanji the document she requested, i.e. the background information about Reiner and Bert! so they happen in two consecutive nights

Now that we're at this point, I think we can help you solidify the timeline of the past 10 episodes.
The expedition beyond Wall Rose from Calaneth district was primarily to establish a supply line to Trost district, and from there, to Shiganshina, in order to seal the wall and begin the process of retaking Wall Maria's territory. This took place about a month after the Battle of Trost (that's a reference point, Trost was about a month ago). However, Erwin also had the ulterior motive of smoking out spies in the ranks, which succeeded with the appearance of the Female Titan (Annie), and the subsequent loss of Levi Squad and many members of the Scouts in the attempt to capture her, then retrieve Eren, and ultimately return to Calaneth.
The next day? Maybe two? Erwin again gambled by disguising Jean as Eren and executing the plan to capture Annie, based on the knowledge they had obtained from Armin, in Stohess district on the outer edge of Wall Sina. This of course resulted in the battle between Eren and Annie and Annie's crystallization and the revelation of a titan inside the wall.
AT THE SAME TIME (!!!!!), the rest of the cadets are housed between Ermich district on Wall Sina and Trost district on Wall Rose. Here they encounter the waves of titans, along with the Beast Titan. Sasha saves the child and gathers the information about Reiner and Bertholdt, then brings it to Hange and Levi in Stohess. Conny, Reiner, and Bertholdt come across Conny's village of Ragako with the upside-down titan. Their group, and a garrison squad, search for a hole in the wall, camp at Utgard Castle, and again encounter titans, when Ymir reveals she is also a titan after the senior soldiers all die.
Hange, Eren, Armin, Mikasa, and Sasha head out to find Krista, armed with knowledge given to them by Pastor Nick and FULLY AWARE that Reiner and Bertholdt are likely also titans, arriving at sunrise to rescue everyone. Atop wall Rose, they all reconvene, and Reiner drops the truth.
OF COURSE Eren thought he had a lot to think about yesterday; in just 24 hours he's gone from fighting Annie's titan to fighting Reiner's titan! THIS WEEK HAS BEEN INSANE!
Hey, could you remind me what info Sasha gathered about Reiner and Bert that she gave Hange, and how did she do it? Last I remember is her reuniting with her dad
@@tey5471 Sasha after saving the little girl ends up in trost and gets the info from erwin and is tasked by him to get the info to hange, who was already evacuating from trost, erwin also takes most of the scouts and the horses and goes a long the wall north to fight at the supposed hole while hange and I believe 2-3 squads go into wall rose from trost straight to utgard as it would be a good defensible position to assess damage from. They didn't have any idea that thei remaining 104th would be there along with Bert and riener.
Edit, I'm not entirely sure if erwin is in calenth or trost when the rose incident happens but either way Sasha ends up at the same place as him and is sent on courier duty to get the document to hange and hanges team departs from trost at night.

- when the Rose incident happens, Erwin is in Stohess, on the east off Wall Sina (with Hange, Levi, Eren, Mikasa, Armin and Jean). They all leave Stohess as the same time.
- they all leave to go first to Ermich, on the south of wall Sina (traveling inside Wall Sina for safety). Erwin's group (including Jean), on horseback, travels faster than Hange's and Levi's group, on carriages.
- Erwin's group is the first one to reach Ermich; there, they meet Sasha and Erwin tasks her with waiting for Hange to give her the background report on Annie (I don't know when Erwin got the report himself). Then Erwin's group leaves Ermich for Trost.
- Later on, Hange's and Levi's group arrives at Ermich and meets Sasha. They decide to leave for Utgard on horseback (leaving Levi and Pastor Nick behind).
Actually AOT is the only Anime i know where even the 5th Rewatch of the whole show can be better than the first time. The connectivity of each scene,facialexpression,soundtrack and plot is insane. Literally every detail is a hint or a foreshadow to another detail in another episode. The first aot rewatch is a must have i would say bc ur understanding of this rises instantly from the first episode :D cant wait you guys to catch up u make my day everytime you upload aot *-*
God seeing berts face when he gets his throat slashed always makes me sad. He looks so scared and sad.
It’s amazing how in my first viewing, I couldn’t wait to see the colossal toppled. But now, I just hope Bert makes it out ok even with how everything’s been going down.

I found you guys a couple of days ago when I was recommended your reaction to Enemy and Get Jinxed (I have been playing league since season 2, around 2012 or so) and I watched all of your videos on the league cinematics and music videos. I really like all of your discussions and how you're interested in learning about the lore.

Huge respect for Hange here. We all know how Hange is when it comes to Titans. Hange can be crazy and all excited to intelligent titans like Eren and the Female Titan, but when it comes to Bert, Hange knows when to separate curiosity from being a soldier and they really went for Bert like that without any hesitation.
If you look back at the last episode during Reiner and Bert's transformation as the lightning strikes them for a split second you can see of their faces turn into their titan's face and as for what was happening with the colossal at the end there remember that he was continuously letting off steam to stop the others from attacking him with the ODM gear so he was slowly losing energy and in turn his titan form was shriveling up which is why by the end there most of the meat on him was gone. Connie wasn't there with them when Hange was informing everyone that Reiner and Bert came along with Annie since he was with the group who were told to stay back at their base.

another one of those foreshadowings is that Eren was a titan at the time he was trying out his broken ODM gear. He smashed his head on the ground right? During the dinner scene right after, you can see STEAM coming out of Eren's forehead as the wound is healing without him knowing :D

14:26 - keep in mind, Sasha, Connie, Ymir and the gang weren't with Eren and the rest of the scouts when they came to the conclusion that Reiner and Bert were Titans. They were all trapped in that tower together after searching the wall for holes.
I like how Bertholdt is such a ninja that he is the colossal titan and RIGHT THERE and so many people forget about him when Reiner calls out. Also, Reiner moves him and Eren several times to get underneath the colossal titan, so that is what he was trying to do when he was dragging Eren on the ground.
That is also not the full colossal titan, just a partial transformation (his upper half). Here is a pic from last episode showing the Titan faces on Bertholdt and Reiner's :

Ange got it right. Reiner's scream at the end was a signal for Bert to focus the decomposition of the Colossal Titan's rib on that one side so he could fall on Reiner and Eren.
One ability that the Colossal has been established to use is generating steam, and rapidly decomposing the titan body, that's how the Colossal disappeared in both attacks in S1.
I just like being here for all of your theories they are imaginative beyond all comparison some spot on and others WAY off but I enjoy the ride regardless. Can't wait till you catch up. Till then see you on the other side of the wall 😶🌫️

The different groups and the back and forth time skipping makes this all a bit confusing but the whole first half of this season spans over those 12 hours that we saw when the group of Connie & Sasha were unarmed rescuing the villages around their guard post that they got stationed at. Then there were the two groups with Hannes that were riding along the walls to find the alleged hole in that entire time, meeting each other when it got night time. At this point the first group was sheltering in the ruins. The group with Mikasa & Eren weren't there at all until they reached the ruins just in time, and they were the only ones with gear and knowledge about Reiner & Bertolt. That's why they also swallowed that random scout, because one set of gear they could take from Eren, but they still had to get another set for Bert or Reiner to make their escape.
Looking forward to see if Carlie will still be that loyal to Eren in S4. :)
Dont feel bad about missing details like bert, Ive never once come across a person that noticed that while the tower was falling. They are pretty much designed to be missed and enchance a rewatch experience. I really like how i can go through this journey again, through watching the reaction of you two. I know my first watch through, i missed allot of details as well and this allows me to find the missing pieces about things i couldn't figure out the first time. Attack on Titan is a great show watching it the first time around with all of the twists and turns that you might or might not expect. But where the show really shines is when you watch it a second time, having the hindsight of knowing the plot twists. Then you start noticing small details hidden in plain sight. There are scenes in the very firsts episodes while they are still training and just having dinner at the barracks and Eren talks about the attack on Shiganshina and about the Colossal and Armored and the camera just shoots to Rainer and Bertoldt listening in and throwing shady looks at Eren. Annie does the same too. And also the best detail about season 1 is when you watch the scene of Eren bursting out of the bearded titan and you can see for a fraction of a second, Armin kneeling on the roof blacked out in shock of just witnessing Eren being eaten. Eren bursting out happened literal seconds after he was eaten, but Armin was in such a shock, that he didn't even notice that. I love this show to death.

When you think season 1 was great but then you start season 2 and just realize this season is even better than 1 but when you start season 3 part 1 you'll be like this is even better than previous one then season 3 part where you'll be like this is peak nothing can top this.. this needs to be the best in AOT and BOOOM season 4 and you'll be exhausted out of excitement that nothing can surprise you now then guess what season 4 part BANG....!!!!!! I hope this isn’t taken as a spoiler in any way but I stand by the opinion that is the probably THE titular episode of strength and willpower grappling with each other. I still come back to this and find myself in awe of the animation and choreography. The animators could’ve very easily stuck in basic fighting with key points but they really went all out
Bert used that steam against Eren the second time he showed up in 1x4 and 5 but Eren pushed through it in just ODM gear but hange and them just now couldnt
Maybe the use of force was different. Against Eren, Bert was trying to vanish, now Bert is very intentionally trying to keep enemies away from him while persisting as a titan.

tf you mean hero lol there ain't to heroes in this show. In the end he would've destroyed Paradis and all the people within if he was alive and wasn't beaten by Armin. In a way, I felt like he was the most similar to Eren. He understood they're not the devils they were told they'd be, and yet understood that they had to die and was going to kill them all regardless, just like Eren in S4.

Armor like that is useless against Titans, at best, it will slow you down and make you a sitting duck.

i watched this show so many times already and i still realize i missed some details every single time. lol you guys are doing pretty well cos you're oftentimes composed and paying close attention. meanwhile, i was just screaming and dumb-founded the first time since i binged s1-s3 for days straight. and honestly i had zero idea what i was getting in to. my bro was just like "wanna watch aot with me?" and i'm like "well... titans? hmm. fine..." rest is history. hahahaha
thing is, if you've watched so many animes, you kinda have some sort of expectation. no matter how different the stories are, there are certain tropes that are quite common. my anime watching sense is different for when i watch tv series. for example, reiner and bertholdt's reveal shocked the shiizzzz out of me that i started crying cos i personally love side characters and i kinda expect them to be oftentimes just a background character in its very essence. the few moments they were on screen, i was already very satisfied. but in aot, it was just not the case. they were my comfort characters for s1... you know? those characters that are just there but you quietly and sometimes even unconsciously support. lol then the reveal of such really struck me. i was not expecting it at all. this is why i stopped calling AoT an anime cos it felt like it's limiting to what AoT is. which, to me, is a magnificent story regardless of what media it comes as.

You guys may already know this but the reason the Colossal titan decomposed was because it was using steam to protect himself against the scouts, and the more he releases the steam the more the titan decomposes.

This season has the best animation, coloring/shading, storytelling structure of all seasons, one of the reasons for it is that the studio had 4 years to created such detailed and beautiful work.
The armor Hange was referring to isn't anything special. It's just the classic medieval armor that knights used throughout our history
