Stalhelski is a special exception, though. He's worked with some great talent and great directors...and he's so much more than a Stuntman anyway. He himself actually has some acting chops. Though he didn't speak, he filled in for Brandon Lee in the scenes they had to reshoot after his death. And he did a really great job of conveying the character through body-language alone. And he clearly has a talent specifically for direction, and collaborating with his cinematographer and others. He knows where his strengths lie, and how to get the most out of others in areas where he's lacking and maintain a clear vision in doing so. That's incredibly rare in the industry. He's a cut above in all cases. I really want to see a lot more from him in the future.
What played a big part in this, was Chad Stahelski and Keanu spending the previous year filming Man of Tai Chi (2013) in Hong Kong, reuniting with Yuen Woo-Ping (Matrix 1-3 fight choreographer and action director for fights) and his team, learning how to do a Hong Kong production and apply it to Hollywood, before doing John Wick (2014)
Interesting enough that this movie almost failed the box office. Only the low budget made it a success. That goes to all. These movies are not particularly successful especially not in USA, the global market brought them back. This movie had 20m budget and in USA had zero profit. The global market had about 20 million profit. ☝️that’s all.

One of my favorite movie moments is Viggo talking to Aurelio about him hitting his son. You know Viggo is about to tell Aurelio how he's going to torture him to he begs for death but when he here's why he hit his son all the anger is replaced by fear. "Viggo Tarasov: I heard you struck my son. Aurelio: Yes, sir, I did. Viggo Tarasov: And may I ask why? Aurelio: Yeah, well, because he stole John Wick's car, sir, and, uh, killed his dog. Viggo Tarasov: [pause] Oh."
This movie definitely changed Keanu Reeves’s image. He went from Ted from Bill & Ted, to Johnny Utah from Point Break, to Neo from The Matrix, then a bunch of forgettable roles, to this. And this movie definitely made Keanu a legendary celebrity. We can even give him respect that he’s doing all of this to avenge a dog.
@TheNightshotBR that was a decades best for sure but these films have put him right back up there if not surpassed it because these are all well renowned unlike all the matrix movies.
@@Richardwho-vv5bh it's a pretty equal agreement that they dip in quality as the series progresses but the original trilogy still holds up but the Wick 4 all hold high regard equally.
Brutally killing that baby beagle was some hardcore writing. But then, a couple heartbeats after the initial shock, literally everyone who watches this film has the same reaction..."THEY ALL HAVE TO DIE!!!" Literally, the perfect setup for the rest of the movie. Nothing else would have galvanized an audience so completely behind John's path to vengeance. And if that wasn't enough, if you look closely enough you'll realize Daisy didn't die right away, but slowly crawled her way over to John, leaving a trail of blood behind her, dying in front of him. At that point, bullets are literally too good for these guys. It's time to break out the medieval gear.
Killing the dog was narrative brilliance! It ensures that our protagonist can do ANYTHING, no matter how brutal, and, the audience will still root for him.
Whenever I watch a movie reaction from any channel, a movie would come along where I will be like, "You haven't seen this?!" This is one of them. It's a delight seeing your reaction
Your journey has just begun. Three more in the can and another in progress. So far every single one has been absolutely amazing. - There is conjecture by a lot of long time viewers that it was likely that John's wife was a veterinarian. She gave him a dog. There are any number of things she could have given. Like she gave him the car!! When he's reading the card from her she mentions the car!! At the end John knew where he could get what he needed to fix his wounds. As he and the new dog are walking away they are walking where John's wife collapsed. - Great reactions. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
This is the only franchise I know of, other than LOTR, where each movie gets exceptionally better, more epic, more emotional, more world building. 10/10 franchise.
The comment about this being a difficult film because of the loss in real life of Reeves' wife is an excellent one. Although it was his girlfriend, not wife and they had previously lost a child too. I work in the Entertainment Industry here in London and often deal with press, chaperone musicians and actors to concerts, TV and radio interviews and film premieres to make sure they arrive on time and safely. I distinctly remember an interview on morning TV here for the BBC to promote this movie and the female journalist (I'm not going to give her the publicity of naming her), immediately went for the throat and asked him exactly that - several times. She knew full well that there were topics not to be broached but did it anyway and kept doing it throughout the interview. He handled it brilliantly, calmly and finally just told her that he was here to answer questions about the film, nothing else. He had already answered her a couple of times - really very personal and painful details about grief and she just kept pushing. Absolutely disgraceful but she's known for it, now. We wanted to get in there and yank him from live TV but he didn't leave. He wasn't rattled, so you can't really initiate such a move. He was quite peturbed afterwards though. Who wouldn't be? It was nothing but an ambush - for no good reason. We now ensure that no big name interviews are conducted by that journalist. 😡🇬🇧
I find that people who do that do not have the talent nor professionalism to be a journalist this is why they need to go to such lengths to behave in such a detestable manner because they lack substance. “Journalist” like that do not belong in the industry they put a stain on the name while giving others who have integrity a not so good reputation. I cringe at their behavior I do wonder if they enjoy embarrassing themselves and their families.
@@Tara20052Well said. I can't tell you how angry I was because it just came from nowhere and part of my role is to prevent things like that from happening. Everyone was blindsided and as I say she's still behaving that way. No problem though, sooner or later she's going to run into a celebrity without such fortitude who will tear her apart - live television or not 😂
This reminds me how they handled Liam Nesson after his wife passed it was obvious he wasn’t handling it well at the time but didn’t seem like many journalist cared he was obviously grieving and when your a big movie star you definitely can’t do it in peace or private. It’s sad some just don’t understand the meaning of boundaries I understand your a journalist so getting the story is the priority but they honestly don’t think of others mental health I can’t imagine being asked a question over and over after I’ve made it clear I don’t want to talk about it especially if it was about a loved one who passed.
I mean, that's what journalism *actually* is. Asking the hard questions. Sure there's a point where you should stop and it's your job as a journalist to read your guest and stop when you're causing them pain and grief, but I'd rather have every interview, especially political ones, happen like you described this one instead of everything being a bunch of softball questions that the person has already been provided ahead of time so they know exactly what the PR way of answering is.
Color pallete choices on the Red Corcle scene was simple and effective. Teal for Wick, red for the LITERAL RED SHIRTS. Anytime lighting was teal, Wick was on top, anytime lighting was red, it was the bad guys. For example, the first guy Wick takes out after the handler, it shows the guy standing in red light, turns, steps into teal light and gets knifed. The only time Wick was in danger Wick was in red lighting. When he was fighting the big dude by the pool he was in red light, steps back into teal and pulls a gun and shoots the dude..
This movie is a perfect example of how to make anyone who watches your movie to not care how much violence and pain the protagonist inflicts. I have yet to see anyone react to it and say, wow John needs to calm down the killing (or something to that nature).
I've seen all 4 movies many times but now reaction to those movies are more interesting way of rewatching it all again. Great reaction and i cant wait for next 3 movies in the series.
What most people miss was John lets his emotions take over in the club and spared Ioseph even though he had a clear shot because he wanted him to suffer. That decision cost him his chance at vengeance. The second time he doesn’t waste time because he wants to make sure he gets the job done this time. Before he was retired John, at this point he’s accepted he’s back.
Yea the moment of eye contact while shooting the other guy was meant to inspire fear, but it ended up costing more than it was worth so when he caught him again the guy shot was to inflict pain and immobilize so he could close in and finish while still satisfying the need for vengeance lol. Lesson learned there

The scene with the bouncer was a great one. The guy is a wrestler named Kevin Nash. He is 7 feet tall. When he tells him how much weight he lost he is giving him the number of guards inside. A guy that big saying "thank you sir" is all you need to know about John Wick
You don't fuck with a man's : family/wife/love interest; his car & lastly, his dog. So yeah, the best vengeance film ever. Keanu's 2nd iconic role - the franchise is solid overall - this is the best IMO.

18:14 - This "cleaner" is actor David Patrick Kelly, who played the main antagonist 'Luther' in the 1979 cult classic film about NYC gangs, "The Warriors". If y'all never seen that movie, I highly suggest it! Great friggin' movie!
When he took the knife and stabbed himself at the last fight, he stabbed himself where he already had an injury so there wouldn't be much more damage than was already there, and it gave him the advantage.
I feel you Kristen. I got bullied a bit growing up, but just put up with it because I didn’t want to hurt anyone. By the time I got to high school, I was the protector, defending other kids from getting beat. I never threw a punch, but I’d throw them or pin them or chokeslam them. Did it in college too, working at a college bar. I just wanted to send a message, never wanted to beat anyone up, no matter how crappy the bully was. I just wanted to put fear into them. But I’m also a nice person, so anytime that would happen, I couldn’t sleep that night 😅
I was in only one fight in my entire life, defending my cousin. I was around 10 years old. My older brother got me into karate (mid 80s so it was popular) and I was in it for a year before he went to college. I think he wanted me to be able to look out for myself. Anyways I was visiting my cousin who lived about 30 miles from me, and this kid was pissed at my cousin for some reason. He came over with a few buddies to beat him up. I got in between him and told him to leave. He had about 8" and 20 lbs on me. He found it amusing and came at me. I gave him a roundhouse kick and caught him square in the face (I was much more flexible back then than I am now). His nose started bleeding then he took off and his friends followed. Four years later the school I went to closed down and I ended up going to the same one my cousin & the other kid went to. The summer before I started that school had Drivers Ed for that year's freshman class. I walked in and the first thing I heard was "Well if it isn't the karate kid." The kid I got into the fight with was there, apparently we were the same age. He still had a height & weight advantage on me, so I wasn't looking forward to the next 4 years. But, he never gave me any trouble, and we ended up becoming friends.
In 2001 Keanu Reeves girlfriend Jennifer Syme died in car accident shortly after they had reunited, this was just over a year after the stillbirth of their daughter. So yes Keanu understands that kind of trauma, which bolstered his performance in this movie. I consider him to be one of the most genuine actors in his field.
11:40 That's a perfect approach to crafting a powerful character. First, you establish a deeply likable character-John Wick, a grieving husband whose only remaining connection to his wife is the dog she left him. Then, you introduce an irredeemably despicable character-Viggo's son, who heartlessly kills the "nice man's dog." Only to reveal that despite Viggo's demeanor changed as soon as it was revealed that his "despicable son" is no match for John Wick.

Michael and Kristen best team ever... I love it you guys are the best..... Your sense of humor your attitude and your energy is out the chain 💪⛓️
Work so well together
“Ah, yes! Time for some action movies. What’s next on the list-the Kingsman franchise?” 🔥🔥🔥👏👏
The Lake House was very unforgettable for me.
Nah, Matrix was his biggest role.
@TheNightshotBR that was a decades best for sure but these films have put him right back up there if not surpassed it because these are all well renowned unlike all the matrix movies.
@@IAmHavok bro, the matrix movies are all time classics, minus the last one, that is still fresh.
@@Richardwho-vv5bh it's a pretty equal agreement that they dip in quality as the series progresses but the original trilogy still holds up but the Wick 4 all hold high regard equally.
So Kristen is secretly Harley Quinn
Kristen should dress up as Power Girl
Kristen needs to watch Law Abiding Citizen next
Yup
For sure
😈
yes!
Killing the dog was narrative brilliance! It ensures that our protagonist can do ANYTHING, no matter how brutal, and, the audience will still root for him.
Whenever I watch a movie reaction from any channel, a movie would come along where I will be like, "You haven't seen this?!"
This is one of them.
It's a delight seeing your reaction
Most reaction channels I come across have a huge list of stuff that I find myself amazed that they hadn't seen yet
@@patrickevans9604yes if say am Arachnophobia or children of the Corn I'd understand 😅
For an action movie.. this really hit the heart feels lol
Also how can you not love Willem ... One of my fav actors
Your journey has just begun. Three more in the can and another in progress. So far every single one has been absolutely amazing.

There is conjecture by a lot of long time viewers that it was likely that John's wife was a veterinarian. She gave him a dog. There are any number of things she could have given. Like she gave him the car!! When he's reading the card from her she mentions the car!! At the end John knew where he could get what he needed to fix his wounds. As he and the new dog are walking away they are walking where John's wife collapsed.

Great reactions.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
These 2 are awesome together!! and for John Wick?? Near perfection lol
This is the only franchise I know of, other than LOTR, where each movie gets exceptionally better, more epic, more emotional, more world building. 10/10 franchise.
The only one with any emotional content was this one. The rest are worldbuilding and stunts. No heart at all.
@@AuthorGuy1 youre buggin every reactor cries for the last one
@@dejavu2030 couldn't get past the third. Dull.
"I once saw him kill three men in a bar with a pencil!"
_With a fcking pencil!_
No problem though, sooner or later she's going to run into a celebrity without such fortitude who will tear her apart - live television or not 😂
Well said. And if that reporter was the same one who did the BBC ambush interview on Andrew Tate, such blacklisting would be appropriate.
15:57 he doesn’t think hes rusty bro sent every mercenary on his payroll to go and try to kill john lol
This film is why I highly respect another person's puppy.
Until it bites you 😂😂😂😂
We're not all John Wick 😂 don't stress
Before he became Shadow the hedgehog, he was Baba Yaga. The boogeyman known as John Wick.
Ahhh. The power of a good mechanic. Has gun pointed at his head then says,' go ahead'. The power of a good mechanic.
Dang...Kristen gotta mean streak in her ...don't mess with the puppies.!!!...great reaction guys
As a straight man i too found Keanu killing everything very attractive too, trying not to buss in the theather was no joke
The insurance guy riding with Vigo is perfect irony😂
Color pallete choices on the Red Corcle scene was simple and effective. Teal for Wick, red for the LITERAL RED SHIRTS. Anytime lighting was teal, Wick was on top, anytime lighting was red, it was the bad guys. For example, the first guy Wick takes out after the handler, it shows the guy standing in red light, turns, steps into teal light and gets knifed.
The only time Wick was in danger Wick was in red lighting. When he was fighting the big dude by the pool he was in red light, steps back into teal and pulls a gun and shoots the dude..
dog shows up, me: "don't get too attached to it"
This movie is a perfect example of how to make anyone who watches your movie to not care how much violence and pain the protagonist inflicts. I have yet to see anyone react to it and say, wow John needs to calm down the killing (or something to that nature).
Kristen I thought you were actually trying to say mourning 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lesson learned there
He also wanted him to have absolute fear and knowledge of how bad ass he is 😂
The all-state/mayhem joke went Iverson everyone's head 😅😂 I thought it was hilarious. "If only he had all-state to protect him from mayhem" 😂😂😂
You can mess with the man, but don't mess with his dog.
Andy/Daisy from John Wick will be approximately 10 years old in January 2024 and will turn 11 years old in October 2024.
Kristen with the golden "moaning" comment 🤣🤣🤣💀
Spend hrs every week/month watching reactors react to my favorite films, shows….i usually fast forward to my favorite parts to see their reaction…u guys are a select few where ill watch the entire reaction during some down time…she got great commentary and insight…and bro picks up on smallest things that ppl don’t usually catch the first time…I’ve seen it in several reactions…keep up the great work!! Love ur stuff!!
Kristen: People are gonna hate me for this, but...
What? What!? Spit it out, Kristen!! 😱🤯
Now that the movies with John at his top badass form I’d honestly love to see a new trilogy of him just starting in the game learning from all his mentors fighting styles and making his friends along the way.
Putting the dog in the thumbnail is diabolical 😂
That allstate line "protect from mayhem " was hilarious
I Love seeing these two often together such chemistry just like The Blade Series of Wesley Snipes love you guyz reacts so I love you Kristen & Michael also John Wick is such an Awesome Amazing Movie Franchise Keanu Reeves is my favorite actor I've Seen all from Chapter 1-4 are we gonna get Chapter 5? Who Knows...and 🕊R.I.P to Lance Reddick your the Greatest Actor of All time your a Legend.🙏❤
(I Edited for Some What Correction)
My favorite John Wick reaction; well done!
Kristen's plan is terrifying. Never get on her bad side
"What a heartwarming movie about a man and his dog."
I say, what a gripping series about a man and THAT dog. 🐶
Wow.. you guys skipped Jimmy? How rude :P
My favorite pair of cinepals and one of my favorite action movies! 🍿🎉
The scene with the bouncer was a great one. The guy is a wrestler named Kevin Nash. He is 7 feet tall. When he tells him how much weight he lost he is giving him the number of guards inside. A guy that big saying "thank you sir" is all you need to know about John Wick
I want to hear StephensonPino Fight Stories!❤️❤️❤️☺️
great action scenes, Keanu is really good with that gun skills
You don't fuck with a man's : family/wife/love interest; his car & lastly, his dog. So yeah, the best vengeance film ever. Keanu's 2nd iconic role - the franchise is solid overall - this is the best IMO.
Is anyone going to talk about how emotional she was after? The dog died truly truly epic reaction and to know that you know how to defend yourself and others is absolutely extraordinary. I am an extreme advocate of women, knowing how to throw down keep doing your thing love
"A sweet movie about a man and his dog"
And I oop!
This woman has the most adorable smile, ever.
I can't blame John Wick. That place he was in after waking back up was portrayed in such brutal clarity, just wow.
29:46 Neo and the Keymaker reunited.
Yeah Viggo's "Oh" is pretty much the most iconic line across all four John Wick movies 😀
I'm biased because it's my favorite movie, but I think Willem Defoe's best role was the detective in Boondock Saints
I wouldn’t disagree, but then he’s been so good in so many.
Platoon, boondocks saints, spiderman, and John wick are all movies he was excellent in.
The cop asking if john is working again is one of the funny parts of the movie
Then, you introduce an irredeemably despicable character-Viggo's son, who heartlessly kills the "nice man's dog." Only to reveal that despite Viggo's demeanor changed as soon as it was revealed that his "despicable son" is no match for John Wick.
the must powerful use of the word "Oh" in movie history!
Charlie (David Patrick Kelly) the clean up guy also played the gang member Luther in The Warriors clanging the coke bottles together in Coney.
Warroirs come out and play!
OH Man the Minute they saw the Puppy and started making happy baby Noises.......Wait for it....
Poor Theon! He just can't get a break!
Lmao her rage on killing them was hilarious. Hell hath no fury fellas😂
