Amazing video! I'm a LI heating and ac guy myself and worked on systems of all types of people's homes. This interaction was amazing. Hi I’m the homeowner, just an update. I was very impressed with Mikey, as you all saw very knowledgeable and showed me exactly what was wrong. My aqua stat did not work and I went and purchased a new one. Everything is working smooth now! Thanks for spending the time and showing me what was wrong! All the best!
That’s how I check continuity on phone wiring lol. I also have a 5 tone toner when you short and release the tone changes. And I have a lan toner which can tone through a short
I have an old Vintage Progressive 1980's Toner that could tone through a Short. I could even hear it through a M66 Metal Can cover. It is so beat up BUT It still works. Just retired 37 years. Mike M Central Wi.
@@drooplug it's an Alpine 105 and the indirect tank is 30 gallons. Never enough hot water. I can't take two long showers back to back. We have to wait 15 min in between shower. I have to check those numbers but what are the numbers supposed to be?
What I don't get here is that the aquastat is flashing a green light which is indicating that it is asking for heat. If the 24v power wasn't hooked up to the aquastat, how is the green light flashing? Was the end switch on the honeywell relay providing 12v which was enough to power the light but not enough to run the aquastat circuit? Great work on fixing the problem, extra difficult when people hook stuff up wrong ! I bet most techs would have replaced the aquastat, figured out that wasn't the problem, then fixed the real problem but blamed the aquastat to save on embarassment.
When the homeowner closes the circuit with the screwdriver on the two terminals, you get voltage making a circuit from the zone relay on the wall, through the water heater board, and back to the zone relay. That enables the light to illuminate. Without the screwdriver there was no circuit.
One leg of TT has Voltage on it. There was just enough to light the LED. but due to the resistance of the Coil on the other TT leg, was not enough to let the Board function properly . TT could be board configured 2 different ways depending on how the MFG wanted to do it One leg could be full 24 Volt with the other leg through a relay coil. One leg could go through a relay coil with the other leg a Common leg. Cause all you need is a Switch across the 2. Mike M.
The wiring was an issue and the aqua stat was faulty and needed to be replaced. If I would of replaced the aqua stat without addressing the wire issue it still wouldn’t work. Light blinked because it was received voltage just not all of it. It also threw me off and once wiring was done correctly a new aqua stat is all I needed. I knew after that I needed a new aqua stat because hot water tank would get to hot and was not regulated to the desired temp I set it at which was 130 degrees.Maybe I should change professions lol jk.
Smoke emitters, I mean meters.. I've killed plenty over the years, especially leaving them on current setting and placing on 12/24v. some even got 120/240v. whoops🤣
You need to invest in a headlamp my friend! You'll thank me when u do! All the years I was plumbing I never had one. I retired then started using headlamps and wished I had for all those years. Or u can get one that hooks on the bill of your hat, then u wont have to stick that dirty flashlight in your mouth anymore 🤮😆

Hey Mikey Pipes. Do you prefer when a customer doesn't know as much as this customer did so that well there's less of a chance the homeowner tinkered with something and you have to follow someone else's potential mistake. Or do you like when a customer did some detective work for you?
You could have tapped into the 24V on the relay panel - there is more than enough there to supply that pissie little board. Nice to see you dressed in recognisable work clothes but tell me , why is the wiring around these systems in your country look like a teenage boys bedroom ??
I cannot for the life of me understand how people wire these systems so totally wrong also you should get a headlamp so you don't have to stick the flashlight in your mouth although it's funny to watch it probably is not quite as easy to work with LOL

it's probably using the 24v from the TT to flash stating error. vs. working
