2 and half years later, and I’m at this point. Deleted FB in 2020, kept Insta because of the art communities, but they’ve been ruining the platform for the art activities, and they are due to introduce AI profiles at some point, so that’s a big nope. Never had Twitter or TikTok, and avoiding Threads, Pinterest is flooded with AI and pretty pointless now. I was around before the internet, social media and streaming, and have realised I just don’t achieve anything any more. I really feel for young people who just don’t know anything better.
Same with me. And I couldn’t agree more with you on this. And I felt like leaving social media changed my life as well. Because honestly you just can’t have any real friendships or relationships or anything like that
Thanks for sharing your story, Gia. As you mentioned the "fake reality" - just on that, i'd like to share 2 quick stories that happened recently. 1. A guy that i know from FB literally just ignored and walked past me a few weeks back. Then about a day and a half later, we were chatting away on FB about soccer... And neither of us mentioned what happened crossing paths in the street, but online he was very friendly, friendly... The contrast is startling... He's quite a nice guy and naybe he was having a bad day or something, so i don't hold it against him. But it is something that has come across my mind since it happened. 2. A good friend of mine has a weight issue and when she's out and dancing she always uses filters to make herself look thinner. Which consequently tends to lead to a chorus of people complimenting her about her weight loss... But the saddest thing about it is, when she sees people in real life she shies away and doesn't seem to go out as often... And it's really sad that this "fake reality" can affect her life so negatively... Anyway, hope that you are well and good luck with the detox :)
The only thing that was good about social media for me was I found aload of long lost family in Ireland. I had not seen them since I was little when my mother was alive. I rarely post anything on Facebook I just use it to keep in touch with my small group of friends and family. I don't have hundreds of friends I never talk to. Instagram I use for my photography as I do love photography and I love getting up at sunrise and capturing what I love doing. But I definitely understand what you are saying regarding social media. All the fakeness & toxic culture. Since I moved to the countryside I have used it alot less and enjoyed life itself more
I’ve noticed that Facebook feels more and more like a ghost town lately. Last I checked my account, many of the meme pages I follow that normally would have 2K likes for every post now only have about 800 and sometimes as low as 200
New Subscriber here! I feel like this video is a huge sign from the universe for me to get rid of social media, except UA-cam as like you that’s like a learning platform, & I can only see & watch things I am interested in, because I am getting rid of social media this month. I only have fb, have never had any other social media, but like you the aimless scrolling for hrs is ridiculous! I can spend the 6hrs that my kids are at school for just in fb, & it’s really getting to me, I hate it, it’s not healthy & it’s taking me away from things I could put my time & energy into. I agree with absolutely EVERYTHING you say about social media & have EXACTLY the same view!! It’s all so so fake, & Instagram is disgusting! It’s awful! All it is is a bunch of fake plastic woman showing off their body parts for likes, & I have never ever understood that, why? I just don’t understand. This is only the second video I have seen of yours, the first one I watched was before this one where you spoke about ambition being overstated, completely agree with that video to.
I've been on Facebook since almost day one so haven't been able to bring myself to delete it, but for over a year now I have stopped posting on my own page. I use the platform now more just to comment on stuff that comes up on there. In other words I've limited what I do on there.
Social media in general is toxic imo. I like UA-cam the most but I have learned to do it moderately. Hate insta, never was on ticto, and only have snapchat to talk with younger family members ...FB is basically older family members 😂
Thank you. I agree. When I closed F.B, peace come to me😊

You are spot on.
This video was 2 years ago. Did you go back on?

Permanently delete them- well done you!
At least you know you'll have the latest weather updates before your friends do🤷♂️
Your channel is that good then

I love Facebook. I'm not addicted.
That's something someone who's addicted would say.
