No joke. I love videos like these. I watched so many of the, "i deleted social media and it changed my life" videos to the point where i actually made a social media file on youtube containing videos of people talking about them deleting social media 😂
I am 3 months into my second time getting rid of socials and when I came to socials after my first I felt like I was in a fishbowl. I couldn't take anyone seriously. I really noticed how much people do things for attention and I was getting like retroactive ICK about what I was doing for attention. This time feels like a forever thing. You’ll never regret it, trust me. As Aunagraea (hope it’s correct) said, at the beginning it’s weird to tell people you don’t have social media anymore, because it’s so unusual nowadays. You’ll even feel embarrassed and re-think if it was a good idea, because you’ll feel judged by other people. But guess what? Feeling judged was the reason why you left social media. So just don’t care about what other people think, go on, and live your life. You’ll never have the time you waste on your phone back, so enjoy it in a better way. Good luck with your journey, and if you want, reply to this comment in a few months and let’s update each other 😊
This month will be a year since i deleted Instagram and it was the best decision i ever made. More peaceful, been more creative and productive and ive been living in the moment more. It also helped me let the past go and toxic people that no longer mattered
I recently just got off social media again for like the 3rd time in the past few years. And every time I get off of it I feel better. More connected to those around me. More present where my feet are planted. And more happy. I definitely hope to stay off of it for at least a year or MORE. I was getting really sick of it, it's all fake. I deleted social media two days ago. I want to start living, not just existing and showing people proof of it whenever I “look good”. I wanna FEEL good 😩
As an aspiring artist who struggles with her self-esteem, creativity, ability to act and just try out new things I’ve come to realise how big an impact social media has become just the recent years. I believe it’s one of the reasons why I struggle because I’m never bored, I never get the urge to create and always overstimulated and tired by consuming. That on top of mild signs of depression and not feeling like I can learn, try new things or contribute anything to the world of art. That + comparing myself to others. I think this was the sign to log off and work on my thoughts and mind for a longer duration of time than just a detox. In my connection with friends I also rather them tell me and show pics when I’m with them of what they’ve been up to. I want to value quality from quantity in my connections. Thank you so much for the wakeupcall!
I have to say for the older generation it’s not a problem. We didn’t grow up with social media so we still call one another on the phone. Sometimes I forget to take my phone with me when I leave the house. We still meet up in person more often and still go to house parties. We really don’t care that much about other peoples opinions. It’s not a thing. I think social media can become a crutch and creates an illusion about real life that you should experience yourself. I must say we did and still use 35 mm cameras and print photos. That’s so much more satisfying to me than cell phone pics..
that’s a very good point! since i am gen z, i feel like i grew up relying on technology at a very young age where being addicted to phones is normalized, if not encouraged.
Yeah, i struggle to relate to this video. This creator doesn't know her friends are pregnant because she isn't on social media? If they aren't making a point to tell you in one way or another then they either are just people on social media or aren't a real friend. But this is definitely a generational issue, social media is literally an extension of themselves in some cases. This creator still has social media brain rot, she thinks these things she's not seeing have significance and that she needs to be aware of them. She feels "irrelevant". Get better people in your life if you feel like you're missing out, you sound incredibly depressed axnagrea. You should not feel detached or irrelevant
Congrats! On your journey, You are actually truly living your life now! Constant validation and stimulation from social media sites leads you to live a fake life, where you loose yourself. To your friends or anyone else, please don’t apologise for changing your life for the better, just remember that everyone else is addicted and cant pull away, but you did it! You’re free now! As society we have lost connection with each other because of this lot of marriages start to fall apart. Instead of us living our lives, the digital world is living our lives for us. This was a good video !!❤❤Thanks for sharing with us I’ve also been off social media for almost 2 months now it’s been cool I can’t wait to share my experience too.
The loneliness is the withdrawal symptoms, and the feeling of insignificance (trigger warning) is because we are insignificant. We are one human in a planet of 8B. 1 planet in a galaxy of millions of stars, and one universe with billions of galaxies. Being insignificant is OK. We aren’t tasked with solving the ailments of humanity-we just need to work hard to make the lives of those around us better. I never understood sharing every event with people… I dunno, as a Gen Xer, giving hundreds (or thousands) of strangers details about my life seemed sus to me. Just one question, though. How does UA-cam not count as social media?
I just don’t view it as traditional social media that is meant to contact and keep up with friends and family… youtube to me is for a creative outlet and maybe being a part of a community through other people’s creative outlet
ahh thank you 🙈 + I felt that way too! i felt like my social time with my online friends was where i’d communicate with them most! but at the same time, if they’re your REAL friends then it shouldn’t matter if you’re offline or not 🙂↔️ there’s so many ways to communicate with people nowadays, they could just text you 💁♀️
I hope this doesn't come across as judgemental, but it strikes me as "very much caring about what others think" when a video creator preemptively addresses their frizzy hair, shiny skin, changing lighting, or (in other cases) a pimple, a piece of lint on their shirt, nasal voice because of a cold, an unruly strand of hair, and any small detail that wouldn't have really mattered had they said nothing about it. It takes me out a bit, because it derails focus to something that isn't the point of the video, and it makes me a bit sad thinking that they owe others perfection and have to point out their own flaws before anyone else does. I don't see this going away anytime soon, because someone will always be ready to comment on it, and it probably doesn't really matter, but those are my two cents
i complain about this stuff to myself when i’m alone in the mirror… it’s just called insecurity 🙃 plus biting it in the butt by addressing it up front helps me call myself out before anyone can do it is a way for ppl to protect their self esteem (kinda like making fun of yourself to lighten the atmosphere) since it’s much easier to hide behind a screen pointing fingers at others than it is to put yourself out there for 20+ minutes with confidence yet still acknowledging the flaws we all have. don’t be sad thinking people are only pointing out their flaws due to owing others an explanation, it can be for other reasons and it’s never that serious. we’re all human. xoxo
I had quit social media for a week but I came back out of curiosity and I regretted it. thanks for your video now I'm sure of this way of life IM OFFICIALLY QUIT!
ooooh girl, i think i left whatsapp in like 2021 😅 i wouldn’t really consider it social media though, i would consider it like an alternative messaging app

I deactivated my Facebook and Tiktok like 6months ago, but i still have Instagram and Reddit
reddit is honestly hilarious
Thanks cause your video is really amazing
ahh thank you for watching!! 🫶
I love your videos so much and I deleted social media too but I have online friends and it is kind of hard to leave the so I don't know what to do :(
ahh thank you 🙈 + I felt that way too! i felt like my social time with my online friends was where i’d communicate with them most! but at the same time, if they’re your REAL friends then it shouldn’t matter if you’re offline or not 🙂↔️ there’s so many ways to communicate with people nowadays, they could just text you 💁♀️
I deleted Twitter 5 months now feeling less stressed
🎊🎊🎊
Just deleted my ig account 🎉
!!!!! congrats 🎉
You’ve become more intelligent and aware
what camera do you use if you dont mind me asking
canon eos 70 d with either a 35 mm f 1.4 or 24mm f 1.4
Being social online isn’t being social
Does deleting social media include whatsapp?
i personally wouldn’t count whatsapp as social media because there’s no feed/profile… it’s more like an alternative to texting in my opinion
I don't see this going away anytime soon, because someone will always be ready to comment on it, and it probably doesn't really matter, but those are my two cents
i complain about this stuff to myself when i’m alone in the mirror… it’s just called insecurity 🙃
plus biting it in the butt by addressing it up front helps me call myself out before anyone can do it is a way for ppl to protect their self esteem (kinda like making fun of yourself to lighten the atmosphere) since it’s much easier to hide behind a screen pointing fingers at others than it is to put yourself out there for 20+ minutes with confidence yet still acknowledging the flaws we all have.
don’t be sad thinking people are only pointing out their flaws due to owing others an explanation, it can be for other reasons and it’s never that serious. we’re all human. xoxo
So you staying on UA-cam and dropped everything else? It’s definitely a different scene. More diluted then insta and twitter
i loveee youtube, staying on for a creative outlet ❤️🔥
I had quit social media for a week but I came back out of curiosity and I regretted it. thanks for your video now I'm sure of this way of life
IM OFFICIALLY QUIT!
congrats 🎊
Is WhatsApp also one of the socials you left?
ooooh girl, i think i left whatsapp in like 2021 😅 i wouldn’t really consider it social media though, i would consider it like an alternative messaging app
@@axnagraeawhat are you using instead of it?
Dear, the music in the back is really distracting
dang my bad
I’m starting now, thank you!!🥺🫶🏼
ahhh congratulations + good luck 💕💕
I wish we could spend time together 🥹
