Which Pokemon do you think needs an evolution?
Arcanine obviously
Eevee
wolfey glick needs babby forme
would like Tauros or Kangaskhan if they already haven’t
GameFreak told me that they think Charizard needs one
Finally... The return of Wolfe "I Won a Regional with it" Glick
This man's done the absolute impossible
What a name. 👏
Isn't it not Wolfe "The World Champ Baby" Glick?
@@delta-8384 he is that too
He's also wolfey "I've seen me win these" glick
We need a tierlist of all the mons he won regionals with tbh
When Unown first came out, I painstakingly collected them all, expecting them to combine into an epic mon, and was a sad child when it didn't.
Unown really feels like it would fit in the “joke Pokémon that’s a pain to evolve but their evolution is amazing” category but they just forgot to put in an evolution.
Combining them all into a huge behemoth would be the perfect way to handle that but I guess Unown aren’t good enough for something that clever lol
Kinda like how they treated Meltan -> Melmetal
In the movie focused on Unknown they were shown to be really powerful in a large swarm, so the idea of collecting all the forms and you can then do some quest to in the ruins to combine/evolve them into a swarm called "Enigma" that has very strong base stats and a strong signature ability. (Based on the whole creating things they did in the movie)
Or maybe the letter you evolve on levelup has form specific base stats, and once you have all the forms any unknown will evolve on next level up but this doesn't count as a form so you need to recatch that letter to evolve another.
Its just such a missed opportunity to follow through on the mystery of the Unkown.
@@jasonreed7522 Even smash bros used the swarm of unown as its summon. Always thought they would follow up on it since both the movie and those games showed it in action
The mechanic should be:
When your unown hits lvl20, all unown in your party try to merge in the order they are in in your inventory.
It needs to form a real 3-5 letter word from a pre-made list or it fails. The more letters it has, the better it's stats.
"I don't think we've ever had a good Water Ground type in the format"
True, except the one that has consistently been great in VGC almost every generation since it's creation.
Gastrodon looks on in disgust.
the thought of a gastrodon with a disgusted look on its face is somehow very amusing to me

@@egd5716 not good
Was swampert any good?
@@eliaelirko9849 i think Mega Swampert was good for a while, but i'm not sure since i started in gen 8
Tropius is one of my favourite designs in the series, honestly I wish it was just better instead of giving it an evolution.
I would love to see a Castform evolution, perhaps called Disastform and based on natural disasters.
That would be cool. Maybe even upgrade its ability into causing weather based on move type used.
@@locten4949 Forecast still seems fine, especially if it is just upgrading Castform's forms - Sunny to Drought, Rainy to Monsoon, Hail to Snowstorm. However, they could also change the wording back to the vaguer variation it used to have which did not specify Fire, Water and Ice, in which case they could add a Sandstorm Disastform.
Make tropious Dragon/Grass and give it thick fat or something like that to reduce that crippling ice weakness. It won't be broken but it will certainly be better
I think it should get gluttony or ripen in it's evolution over solar power.
I second this motion, imagine if the ability for disastform also worked with terrains lol
I really wish that mega evolutions like Absol's should be made actual evolutions... my boy kinda needs it
I feel like absol needs a pre evolution, it always looked fully evolved to me
Absol also simply needs stat boosts, like +10 Def, HP and SpDef would already help it quite a bit (including its Mega which is one of the weakest)
@@charliez077 tbh, Absol mostly needs to not be in the "mediocre ass speed+super frail" club
i vote for making it actually have speed sice that'd be easier to do
I even looks like a natural evolution
@@gypsysprite4824 yup. for me it needs a boost in speed so that it can realibly use night slash+super luck. with its speed it needs sucker punch always. not that night slash would 100% replace sucker punch, but both could be used together. night slash the main and sucker punch the garanteed priority when needed.
Also a unique move that crits... maybe one that is equal to night slash in everyway, but with a priority point or 2.
imo Castform's different forms should have higher stats than the base form. With no weather, leave it at all base 80's, but give it a Stat boost when weather is up
i always thought that it should have an ability like pixilate that makes all normal type moves a different type depending on the weather. basically just like weather ball but for all normal-type moves
How about a whacky idea like this. Castform base everything 80 except speed 100, he's a speedy boy. But the ability is under weather he changes form, type, and a stat boosts by 20 and his speed decreases by 20.
Sun - atk up
Sand - def up
Rain - sp.def up
Ice - sp.atk up
Which stat for which weather condition can be tweaked. I'm trying to think of something dynamic but not too complex...
It should also get Desolate Land, Primordial Sea and Delta Stream forms with uber stats
@@fehzorz good luck meeting a mega rayquaza
They pretty much did this in emerald kaizo, bst buff actross the board, i think its base 100 in each, and its actually relatively threatening and not a complete joke
There should’ve been another tier called “needs variant.” Sometimes if you change the stats around, or switch up the typing that can be enough to at least be viable.
imagine a Bug-steel Shedinja XD
Ghost/dark shedinja would overcentralize the meta so much lmfao
@@nicolasromani3523 that would be amazing, at least it wouldn’t crumble to sandstorm. Still will die in hail, entree hazards and burn though
I'd say a good half of these mons just need to be overall buffed purely in stats and maybe also with better abilities.
While the other half (of the likes of Dunsparce) could most certainly get both better and cooler with an Evolution.
Agreed. Id choose this solely on design and how irredeemable they are in battle.
Rather than buffing them all, something like leagues divided by total stats could give them a chance to shine with their particular abilities. In Pokemon GO stuff like Tropius or Whiscash are pretty strong in their leagues and having that combined with the abilities and movepools from the MSG could make for a cool format
@@ACLozMusik Are you suggesting something like how singles has “tiers” for its format (OU, UU, etc)?
That could be interesting for VGC but don’t hold your breath on it fixing everything, there are Pokémon so bad that they aren’t even usable in the lowest singles format
@@snuffysam Something simple like 2 tiers below the normal format based on BST caps could give a lot of room for new pokemon to emerge.
@@snuffysam it's a better suggestion than endless power creeping and stats being more important than abilities & moves in +80% of cases.
You should do a tier list for pokemon that you feel could successfully move to LA with and start a prime time cable sitcom with.
Magneton, hands down.
The individual Magnemite don't get along, and the whole "everyone's electronics stopped working" and "metal things are sticking to you" thing is great for physical comedy.
love this concept
Definitely not jinx, youd get cancelled right away.
I feel like we just went through the lost and found bin of pokemon. I would love to see stat redistributions for a lot of the ones you mentioned. Give these guys some love!
"The lost and found bin of pokemon" damn savage but extremely true
Me since gen 1: "Sandslash need a 3rd evolution."
Facts, although, I'd rather it just get much better stats and a new ability to replace the veil ones without evolving
Feels like GameFreak just made Excadrill instead and called it a day
(for which I am not complaining since I love Excadrill but I agree Sandslash and many other mons could use some buffs)
@@Nefaliss now that I think about it. Yeah. Excadrill is just what seemed missing in Sandslash.
i would call it sandsmash and make it a bulky attacker
make its spikes glass and call it panegolin!
Dhelmise might fall into the "too strong" bin but love the concept of giving it triple stab and would be awesome to see it evolve into a whole sunken ghost barge
That would be a cool gigantamax forme
Lord knows why it's grass type tho. Like, he's obviously steel/water/ghost. Imagine water ghost w/ steel stab or ghost steel w/ water stab or even water steel w/ ghost stab lol.
Just slap some seaweed on this mfer and he's a grass type
@@dankeykang8243
If i recall, the seaweed is the pokemon, not the anchor. Dhelmise is pretty much a Ghost/Grass seaweed pokemon that just so happened to wrap around an anchor that it swings around like a weapon.

Moment of silence for the only third stage 'mon to make this list. RIP Unfezant
Unown needs a fusion, like you use Unowns to write the type and then that fusion gets that type.
What the fuck.
that sounds cool af
Yea. Like Kyurem or Necrozma.
What is this, Word World?
That wouldn't work for Electric and Psychic.
Let’s hope that some of these Pokemon on the list do get an evolution through their Hisuian Forms or future regional forms 👀
Basculin does actually
The ones that have Megas are extremely unlikely to get evolutions
@@Theeinsom no way?! Where did you hear that?!
@@PtylerBeats it was announced a long time ago. its name is basculegion
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen your face.
I think that pokemon without three stages evolutionary line shouldn't get mega or gigantimax form because it would be weird to give them a permanent evolution if they remove this features from the game
Gigantamax works because unevolved mons can have it
@@roberteospeedwagon8178 lol i forgot that pikachu, eevee and meowth have their gmax form
Pretty much agree with you said
If it happens to Pokémon with Gigantamax (already NFE Pokémon to brgin with) regarding new evos, it can eventually happens to Pokémon with Mega Evolution, since Mega Evolution is not part of Earth’s nature and come from unearthly origin, not unlike Dynamax. Doesn’t help Dynamax is way more powerful despite the three turn limites, anyways
It would be cool if Pokemon that already look fully evolved, like Tropius and Furfrou, could instead receive major stat buffs and gain a pre-evolution instead.
It would be great if a lot of the Pika-clones received proper evos. Emolga in particular is a mon I wish was better than it is, Electric/Flying is a pretty dope type combo that's only shared by Rotom Fan and Zapdos.
thunderus is crying
@@okbomber151 whoops I forgot the genies existed
pikachu clones: broke
raichu clones: WOKE
I agree with the former part, but the latter part seems unneeded. Like, they should just quit making Pika clones tbh.
Honestly, with regional variants, they could make them regionals of Pikachu that evolve from Pichu. You could then consolodate a few, like Pachirisu into Emolga and give Emolga a buff to match Raichu.
I think umfezant would be usable if it was ground/flying. They're based on pheasants, birds who like to hang out on the ground. And they look like they'd be ground to me
Edit: Give carnivine an ability that has a binding band built in, give it snap trap and make it steel/grass it would've be a great mon
Female Unfezent with the brown lower half looks like it could easily be a ground type. Male Unfezant with the pink mask could be psychic
I disagree with the unfezant take that mom is clearly a normal type and idk if it should change. Also carnivine would be great with a built in binding band and access to taunt
@@justaliljello5198Well it could go either way personally it seems like a ground type as well. Like I said pheasants are birds that like to be on the ground and if you look at their stomach patterns they have ground like appearance imo
@@connorradcliffe1769 True but I think ground makes sense for both. I can see the male being psychic.
Carnivine should get an ability that makes it immune to bug types and hurting Pokemon using bug contact moves on it. It’s a Venus fly trap, its whole niche should be a grass type that beats bug types
Unknown should evolve into a legitimized version of missingno. If they could be willing to be tongue in cheek with it I think it could easily be a fan favorite pokemon. Give it a unique ability or move and it could be super fun. Hopefully they decide to do SOMETHING with unknown in the future. It could be really cool to have the evolved form be based off of which letters you have in your party, there are so many cool directions they could take it.
it always annoyed me that Spinda's stats are so low just for the meme. 60 in each stat so it adds up to 360. Get it? Spinning? 360?
Nope I don’t get it. Please explain
At least Spinda has the memes. They gave Delibird and Luvdisc 330 without giving them a gimmick to match (like they did for Ditto, Smeargle, and Shedinja, all of whom have an even lower BST)
I think that many of these Pokémon would need a pre-evo.
Like absol's pre-evo with the stats of absol and then the actual absol with buffed stats. Hope it's understandable.
Very much understandable and I very much agree.
I love absol, especially the shiny, poor little guy
:(
I'd love for Lumineon to get an evolution. Make it a fast, bulky utility Pokémon with attack stats that are usable but not great.
In terms of typing, it'd obviously stay Water type, and maybe pick up Flying type? It's like the only non Flying type that naturally learns Gust, just ... do something with it.
Go all the way with the wing fins, draw inspiration from flying fish? Give it cool status moves like Whirlwind in addition to it's ridiculous status movepool (Tailwind, Defog, Sweet Kiss, etc.) and call it a day.
How about no
I don't actually think that it needs an evolution but either better stats or better coverage.
It's supposed to be a glowing, bottom of the sea living fish, yet they never gave it anything that interacts with it. Give it Tailglow or something. That way it could serve as sort of a sweeper in rain teams without being broken because even with a triple boost the special attack of it is less then stellar.
Or better coverage so it can punish water types when it switches in to soak up an attack with storm drain.
Or let it lean more into the support category. Until now it basically only has tailwind and defog for that
It can't even Toxic trap enemies anymore with Whirlpool and Toxic, so there aren't many movesets that it can use. It only does everything a little bit, but none of it good. So imo an evolution is not the solution here but a better and more coherent moveset that actually gives it a nieche. And maybe a stat buff of, like, 20 depending on what it ends up being. Better offensive coverage to make use of stormdrain? 20 more base in special attack. Better support moves? 20 more in either of the defenses and/or hit points so it can set up a tailwind, survive the turn and U-turn out. Or go in to defog hazards and then U-Turn out. Rn either is pretty much a kamikaze act.
It doesn't need to be top tier, but at least make it usable somehow
A cast form Evolution that could get double typings based on combinations of weather and terrains would be insane. Like Ground/Psychic, Fire/Grass, Fairy/Ice would all be hella interesting.
"Its not bulky enough o be a tank, it doesn't have the support to be a supportive mon and it doesnt have the offence to actually....play the game"
-WOLFEY ON TROPIUS
I actually used Tropius in a playthrough once. Once that is...
Sad, but true.
The only thing it has are our hearts, its design is the epitomy of a unique and creative pokemon, it just doesn't have good stuff under the hood.
Gamefreak has definitely failed many potentially good pokemon by garbage move pools or misaligned base stats, especially in gens 1-3 before the split special and physical apart from type.
When Electrode gets an evolution, it should get an explosion-style move of every type.
Poison-Type explosion is the closest we’ll get to a nuclear bomb Pokémon.
Or it should have an ability that gives it the Explosion we used to have in Gen II - IV. Then it would actually be used. Even with Electrode's low Attack (and an evolution would probably have a higher attack), it was really, really strong.

Would love for Ursaring to get an evolution since it's my favorite 2-stage evolutionary line, but the only games it's been put in (without being a post-game or trade-only afterthought) are Gold and Soul Silver. It's one of the longest-neglected lines, so I have little hope. 🙃

Honestly, I remember when in gen 7 they buffed soooo many mon BST and adjusted movesets, and I'd love even more of that come gen 9. Like, dex of 300-400, but a bunch of them could get revamped movesets, stats, abilities and meaningful options and that would be rad.
If you're ever jonesing for some quick and easy content, I'd like to see smaller videos focusing on bad 'mons like in this list going into why they're bad and how you would buff them to be viable and distinct in VGC. You get a lot of videos like that from non-competitive type 'tubers which usually leave me feeling "that would be broken" or "that would still suck."

Honestly, they could just give flat stat changes instead and I'd be fine with it. A lot of these mons are totally fine as is, but with garbage stats
Chimecho has the "style" of something I could definitely see in Arceus, calling it now that it will get a regional form/evolution!

Dunsparce finally got its evolution in Scarlet and Violet called Dudunsparce!
It has 2 forms:
The 2 Segment form
And
The 3 Segment form
Rather then evolutions I'd rather the unique design ones like Absol and Cramorant to just get stat buffs. There's a precedent for it already.
Some Pokémon could use Preevolutions to be honest.
Honestly, Carnivine getting an evolution where it grows more heads from its core like an irl Venus Flytrap would be insanely cool. Maybe either Grass/Dragon like a hydra or Grass/Electric since irl they rely on signals from the hairs in their traps to eat?
Similar idea with Maractus. Make it grow more like irl cacti, maybe a few more arms and Grass/Fire or something?
Mantine is an exceptional special defensor in singles and has a pretty good movepool. Learns haze, roost, toxic, defog, ice beam, scald, etc. He can even survive to a non STAB thunderbolt from most of the special attackers in the singles' meta (he survives to a x4 thunderbolt from a 252SpA modest Gengar). He is in NU because Chansey and Toxapest exist but he's great in his role.
He plays VGC rules double battles, not Smogon single battles.
Also even by those rules, being in NU means the mon is pretty shit.
@@Zwijger Nah, NU means there's another mon that does the same job but better, not that the mon is shit.
Untiered means the mon is shit.
I wonder how many times Wolfey says “really bad” in this wideo.
I don't really know why we need to give these Pokemon an evolution when we could just fix their stats/movepool/abilities instead. Adding an evolution doesn't actually fix these weaker Pokemon, it just abandons them into the vacuum space of NFE and replacing them with something which is more time, more art, more effort, then just adjusting numbers--something any other game would do.
it would be so cool if castform gets an evolution with maybe base 80-90 in all stats and forecast 2.0 that not only includes sand but also terrain and maybe if we go really crazy it gets dual typing if terrain and weather is up at the same time.
I have a hot take. I think that charizard should get a new evolution. He has so little evolutions.
fun fact: gogoat has a BST of 531
for comparison, that's 4 points below noivern's 535 BST
Some of these guys just need increased stats and different moves sets rather then evolutions some definitely do
I've had conversations with people and though I think it would be cool, I am in the camp that it would be too broken. Give Shuckle an evolution. I think that if that were to happen Shuckle would become an insane pokemon with Eviolite.
Then make it a mega or alternate form.
@@sptflcrw8583 Mega evolution give it Stance Change as an ability, with non attacking moves making it defensive, with 60 points going into HP. That would be fun and broken as all heck.
When it comes down to it, there are a lot of Pokemon, even on this list, that I think shouldn't get an evolution for design reasons. Mostly because design-wise, it'd just be weird for them to advance any further. Be it for thematic reason, or them simply being at their "design peak", there are some bad (or more often, power-crept) Pokemon that exist in a way that would just be odd for them to get an evolution. An early example of this in your list would be Bouffalant. Another example would be the various Pika-clones, they are electric rodents, it would be weird seeing them as something bigger. If anything, they should just be buffed and given a gimmick. I also find it weird that Unfezent is here, seeing as it's already a three stage line.
I'd say, the ones on the list that I agree with are:
Banette
Basculin (which is getting one)
Stantler (also getting one)
Mantine (maybe)
Sudowoodo
Luvdisc
Cacturne
Chimecho
Castform
Delibird
Qwilfish
Mawile (wish megas weren't abandoned for a worse mechanic~)
Octillery
Sawsbuck
Gogoat
Mightyena
Unown
Dunsparce (maybe)
Also, YO WHY IS MIGHTYENA HERE BUT NOT LINOONE?!
Lastly, I initially went into more detail with each and every Pokemon that appears on this list, with one of the specific topics I mention also being worth it. Which is:
Buff the Ice type. It's unreasonable that the type is so fundamentally garbage when compared to every other type. There is a reason why most suck.
Basculin has an evo in Arceus Legends now, we don't know if it's good or not tho.
Straight from the chest no edit Wolfey is my favorite Wolfey.
Grapploct needs a Water/Fighting evolution and a trapping based ability to get it its own niche.
Cherrim also deserves one, it's already strong, good movepool, awesome ability, but god those stats. It needs an evolution with the same ability to make it atleast somewhat meta and make it even cuter :3
Yea Cherrim is like that pokemon who’s good in doubles but terrible in singles but if it does get an evolution make it cuter :3
When you reminded me that furfrou exists and that it got fluffy, it made me curious on how bulky it would be if it got an evolution and could hold eviolite so I checked and ran some numbers, and it would actually be insane. It would have about 90% as much effective physical defense as Stakataka, but with almost 25% more HP, so it would effectively be physically bulkier than Stak in most situations lmao. It’s spd wouldn’t be any slouch either, at 90 base * 1.5. It’s attack and speed aren’t amazing, but there better than u might expect, and it’s support movepool is just ok, but with that much defense it might still be worth using lol
Might be? It was worth using as it was. Used in triples after intimidated fighting moves did little to it and I heal pulsed damage away.
Its cool to see a handful of these guys got some evolutions
Give Octillery drizzle, drop it's speed to 25 and add 20 to it's HP or Defenses and boom we have the water version of Torkoal. Please gamefreak.
Everybody knows Lumineon BECAUSE it’s so forgotten, and yet they’re not on this list.

A lot of these mons have actually quite good attack stats but neither the speed nor the bulk to make use of it...
Eviolite Hypno sounds somewhat good to me though :)
i want a girafarig evolution so bad. imagine if it had a split evo, one for each half. level it up with a pokedoll or something and it turns into a giraffe stuffed animal and it changed to fairy/psychic type maybe. or level it up another way and the giraffe side looks like it’s decomposing and the chain chomp side takes over as the head. it could be dark/psychic or ghost/psychic. ugh I want it so bad

Wolfey "soothsayer" Glick
Mega Mawile & Mega Absol could have been evolutions rather than Mega Evolutions, while there are species Luvdisc & Dunsparce should have evolved into that exist. Basculin evolves into Basculegion now, while an evolution of at least some form of Stantler will also appear in Pokemon Legends Arceus. I agree that Carnivine, Qwilfish, Mantine, Hypno, Seviper, & Maractus are in need of evolutions, & there are some like Octillery, Girafarig, Ledian, Primeape, Fearow, & Kingler that alternatively could use Mega Evos needing either that or actual evolutions. I think Jynx should have gotten an evolution back during Generation 4 although it isn't on your list.
Raticate, Ariados, Magcargo, Gogoat, Floatzel, & Spinda would probably be better off having Mega Evolutions.
I think Seviper is a prime candidate to be a Steel/poison type, especially in its evolution. It would give it a ton of resistances, would fit with the sword-snake thing, and buff its attack to make iron tail and poison tail (or signature stronger varients) hit well.
This should be coupled by giving Zangoose something, considering they are rivals.
Personally I'd rather them buff base stats and move pools rather than tack new evolutions onto everything. It didn't really improve mons they've added to before.
It would also help with their glaring scaling issues... Just saying, like if they can't keep up with how many Pokemon are in the game, then why do they keep adding evolutions? I know they've done stat improvements in the past, but they're usually 10-20 point stat increases total and rarely do anything for the Pokemon at all. Give them better movesets and abilities, that's where the change usually matters. Like with Pelipper/Gigalith/Vanilluxe/Torkoal in the weather abilities or Mantine with Roost.
Have you guys ever watched that yt video talking about how there should be another Evee like pokemon but for physical types. Like all of Evees evos are types that were special b4 the physical special split. Thats why there is no fighting, flying etc. Type evee. *Dunsparce* would literally be perfect for that.
Rock type: you usually find Dunsparce by using rock smash on rocks
Bug: Dunsparce looks like a bug already
Flying: Mans got wings already
Dragon: same as flying
Fighting: idk they could figure it out
Steel: if he can be rock steel is easy aswell
Ghost: something cool could be done
Im sure i forgot a type or 2 bu you get my point, I think that would be the best idea gamefreak could do with Dunsparce.
Also why does Johto not get much evolution love in general?
Found the video if you havnt seen it: ua-cam.com/video/Cvn23DLmTPY/v-deo.html
He basically creates a new pokemon to do what i think Dunsparce could do
I don’t understand why unknown was never given the hoopa treatment
I would love to see a furret evolution. Ground/fairy would be neat.
I think it’s funny how a lot of this Pokémon are actually good in PoGo. It just comes to show you can find a niche even if it’s outside the main series games

Well, just hypno, mawile, mantine, whiscash, sableye and tropius are at least decent in GL pvp haha
I think it’s funny that 4 of the pokemon on this list did get an evolution.
I dont think barbarnacle needs a evolution, maybe a mega but yeah some mons just arent competitive menaces but barbarnacle really isn't that bad
Too bad they dropped the best gimmick for terrible ones with no real gain in popularity with a huge amount of long-term fans getting pissed
@@aetherius6221 it shouldnt be surprising that they value the more consumeristic approach as opposed to just "what long-term fans want", they're a greedy asf corporation
@@babel_UV absolutely garbage lmao most profitable IP ever, minimum effort, no heart or soul since gen 5. Genuinely disgraceful.
@@aetherius6221 They've always been on this for the money ever since they realised gen 2 wasn't going to be the last game. You're just too nostalgia blinded to see it
@@babel_UV gen 3/4/5 were made by passionate people, at least in part. Almost nothing gen 6+ feels like it has anything even somewhat devoid of corruption. I didn't even grow up on gen 3, I played it in like 2019 lmao
Dunsparce should evolve into drampa
I don’t think absol needs an evolution. It has a really interesting design and I love it but it’s just not great. The mega was a good step but it should’ve been fairy type 😭 I think just a regional form for absol would be great.
No it’s mega should return but as just an evolution
But with only +50 BST, and fairy typing
Hail yeah
It's funny, running across this video after Legends Arceus released and gave evolutions to Quilfish, Stantler, Ursaring, and (as you said) Basculin.
Best Wolfe video in a long time, love the tier lists!
You’re the only competitive Pokémon player I take advice from seriously.
Nah absol doesn't need an evolution. It just needs better stats and an ability. Its design is the most sexiest thing I've ever seen. Even its name is perfect.
Sudowoodo isnt grass type because it's PSUEDO wood - o
we need the supercut of this vid where we just see how many really's each bad pokemon has
As the (self proclaimed) biggest mantine enthusiast, i don't necessarily think am evolution is needed. I ran mantine in series 5 of swsh as a swift swim sweeper and honestly it was really good. Its main niche over kingdra is that it could ohko av rillaboom thanks to stab on max airstream. That being said, i agree that it needs help, it's outclassed as a swift swimmer and a special wall with a 4x electric weakness isn't exactly desirable. Hopefully gf gives my boy a serious stat overhaul
Absol looks like a final form and is perfect so doesn't need an evo. Although eviolite absol would be nice 🤣
I've always referred to/thought of many of these Pokemon as "Gimmick Mons", meant to show some feature/joke/reference; Gen 2 was bad for this.
Lots of Gen 1-3 mons got left behind with the stat split and moves being assigned to Physical/Special instead of type based (slow frail mixed attackers)
A number of the Pokemon on this list learn Entrainment to give a busted ability to others (eg Luvdisc Swift Swim) but generally can't use it before getting one shot.
Sawsbuck is a favorite of mine, it did get Headbutt but only in USUM and has Bounce as well for 60% Paralysis but Normal/Grass can only go so far.
There are many Gen 5 mons that are mediocre simply because they copied the stats/role of a less than great Gen 1 mon.
I find it ironic that the best/most useful regional rodent out of all of them is a Level 1 Rattata.
*Wolfey:* "We should do another tier list on the channel."
*Me:* "That's a GREAT idea. Let me grab some food first." 😁
Lol Mega Absol was really good in singles. It was a UU/RU staple. Problem with it only being that it's a mega pokemon so there's a lot of competition when I only have one mega pokemon slot
If it was RU-UU it wasn’t really good. There are like three or four worse megas.
To think that a few of those actually got evolutions or received some love recently.
And most of them actually needed it.
I wonder how this tier list would change now that gen 9 came out.
Hey, nice video Absol is my favorite mon so I agree wholeheartedly.
I've just discovered your channel recently and saw that you haven't done a video on random battles specifically, my Pokemon Showdown nick is Hard Rock, rn I'm 6th with 2368 elo and 90.1% GXE, would you like to play? Not for a video, just for fun.
I'm AWFUL at VGC but I have 4k+ games in random battles 8 gen so it would be interesting to me, dunno
Whose here after the dominace of Annihilape and Ursaluna? (evolutions of Primeape and Ursaring respectively)
also soecial mentions to Wyrdeer, Basculegion, Farigaraf, Dudunspace, and to an lesser extent Overqwil
WolfeyVGC:All these Pokemon have a unique ability like... *Repeats unique ability till he reaches Delibird* ... Um you know... *Continues with repeating unique ability.*
Delibird: Why am I so useless?
Unown Evolution Concept
There is so much missed potential with Unown.
For an Unown rework, I would personally have it start out as a lowercase letter that only has access to what Unown has in it’s current form. This means it only has Hidden Power, Levitate, and everything else that a regular Pokémon has.
Then, Unown should evolve into the uppercase form of the letter they represent. The condition for evolution should be something that sticks with the theme of the alphabet… the first thing that comes to mind is required for Unown to be traded while hold an item the begins with the letter that it represents. For example, Unown L would need to hold any item that begins with L (Leftovers, Leppa Berry, etc.) when traded. For it being a trade evolution, this fits with the theme because language is a thing that is meant to be shared with other people.
However, it is worth noting that some forms would be unable to evolve solely with this method alone. This could easily be remedied by adding 28 new items to the game, 1 for each form of Unown. Perhaps the item might even have an additional effect if the correct form of Unown is holding, such as boosting the power of moves that begin with the corresponding letter along with Hidden Power. Which would be every move for Unown.
Upon evolution, a random ability is picked such that it begins with the letter it represents. So Unown A would be able to have any ability that starts with the letter A, so on and so forth. If no such ability exists (which occurs only with the characters X, Y, ?, and !), then it gets to keep the Levitate ability instead.
As a possible alternative to the previous idea, a new ability could be added to the game specifically for Unown. You could call this set of abilities A-Factor, B-Factor, X-Factor, etc., which would force an opponents move to fail under the strict condition that the move must begin with the corresponding letter; and/or immune to any attacks from any Pokémon whose names begins with the corresponding letter. This may sound broken, and with planning it certainly would be, but it is only a 1/26 chance that you will be affected by it, so I think it would be a fun addition to the game. I prefer the idea of adding both to the game, with the Unown-Factor ability as a hidden ability.
Furthermore, in the uppercase form, it should also be able to learn every single move that begins with the corresponding letter it represents at level 1. So, Unown A would have access to any move that begins with the letter A through remembering it at the move relearner for the price of a heart scale. A possible alternative to this is learning the moves 1 at a time, starting with its letter, in alphabetical order, starting at level 2. If there are more than 100 moves starting with a single letter, then the rest are learned at level 100. I might be wrong, but I’m fairly certain that there aren’t more than 100 moves starting with the same letter.
There is 1 caveat though: the forms of Unown that represent “?” and “!”. Both would get no additional buffs, and remain as bland as all lowercase Unown. I’m open to suggestions for any better ideas, this is kind of a cop out because I am at a loss for what to do with them.
Breeding is another beast… for simplicity sake, the lowercase version of Unown would be considered a baby Pokémon and unable to breed. Uppercase Unown can breed, but only with other Unown. It gets its own egg group. The letter is chosen at random between the two parents. Abilities can not be passed on, because it gets reset to Levitate for lowercase Unown. Abilities are chosen randomly through the Pokémon’s hidden values. Finally, egg moves can not be passed down to lowercase Unown, locking it to only using Hidden Power until evolution.
Speaking from a lore perspective, I came up with a great fun fact for Unown in the form of a Pokédex entry: “Upon evolution, Uppercase Unown are able to form a link with the Pokémon Trainer that initially caught them. Through this wondrous hidden power, their potential is unlocked. Additionally, if this link is severed or the original trainer dies, the Uppercase Unown will perish. There are no know cases of Unown evolving without being caught by a trainer first.”
The cry of Unown is the sound the letter makes in each respective language, creating different cries for different language. The “?” and “!” forms would retain their original cries.
On top of this, the language that the evolved form of Unown is familiar with would affect the possible abilities it can possess, along with the moves that it can learn. It would also have the additional affect of being the only Pokémon where the names of the moves it can learn would match the language of the original trainer. For example, “Hidden Power” would appear as “Poder Oculto” on every system regardless of language if the OT set their language as Spanish.
This would make it extremely interesting trying to find a fun move set for your language, but in a competitive sense, there are even more unlimited possibilities that you can create by mixing and matching all sorts of combinations.
This adds a layer of uniqueness to every single form of Unown, with the possibility of having some letters being incredibly broken, and others that are completely worthless. The range of potential seems like such a fun concept to me, and while I know it would never happen, I can only dream.
The amount of “This is from a purely competitive standpoint” this tier list oozes hurts me
Half of these pokémon are realistically too common and too early to have those fantastic, 540 BST evos
Or saying that absol is desperate for one with a base 130 attack while Spinda, a pokémon with base 60 in everything would have too strong of an evo??????
Mega Absol should’ve been a Dark/Fairy with Pixilate 🗿
I think I disagree with most of these, your reasonings seem to be mostly based off of competitive use (especially doubles), which makes sense as that's your area of expertise, but to the majority of people who play pokemon, competitive use isn't important. Not all pokemon have to be/can be viable in competitive. The video is interesting to watch of course, but that's just my opinion.
Me, seeing multiple Pokemon I use and love on this tier list 👁️👄👁️
Edit: I think Sudowoodo is personally the most insulting to me. I used one under the pretense that rare = strong, because hey, at the time, most one of a kind encounters were amazing at the time.
I wish the Pokémon company was okay with just changing stat totals. Like I don’t want Ledian to get an evolution, I think it’s a really cool design. What it needs is like 100 more base stats and maybe a different typing.
I don't understand how gamefreak can seemingly spend a lot of time making a pokemon with an intersting gimmick (like komala or castform) but somehow make it non-functional in battle. "Unfinished" seems pretty apt because a lot of these pokemon just feel like incomplete ideas
How about a tier list of Pokemon that received extra love that really didn’t need it? (eg. the endless Charizard fan service, 3 Meowth variants and who tf asked for Mega Audino?)
castfrom is only needed to give more stats when changing the form and that's it
I still dont underestand why there are 2 pink heart shaped pokemon and they *arent* related. Like, what? Why? Luvdisc should evolve into Alomomola , it's absolutely bonkers that it doesnt.
