Hi. I love this one. I do this after i have done The Vinyana for Beginner. Some poses I can not do because I do not want to injure myself at my own ages(71 years old ) Some floating poses is difficult but I tried my best. Thanks, I enjoy very much.
Thanks Helen. Have been following many of your classes, but this one was one of the toughest. Those handstands....I mean your fellow students....who are they? Professional gymnasts? Especially the girl in front. Boy, she handstands like my regular stand.....
Thank you for your support! This is definitely a tough one. It's interesting, my students in San Diego were definitely more "extreme" in the poses they wanted to do. Nowadays my classes tend to be a bit more mellow. I also regular stand like she handstands :)
Thatwas DELISH!!!!!!! so, cool to see u guys doing poses that I only see inpics. AMAZING...Im gonna get there one day too. ;) Thanks to everybody for your kindness & #NAMASTE!
I got to take my socks off ! :) But I still haven't found a good alternative for thread the needle that doesn't torque my upper back, shoulder, and neck so much. Pigeon is easy to just keep untwisted. Thanks for another good practice!
Ha, you leave the best comments, Suzanne! Maybe try a table top reaching opposite arm and leg back when we do thread the needle? I'll working on coming up with a better alternative and pass it along :)
I've been slow to upload new videos - sorry! Life has been a little crazy this year but more are coming I promise! I have 3 waiting to be edited and am filming next week. Thank you for practicing with me!
@@FloatingYogaSchool That's awesome!!!!!!! THank you so much!! i just realized that there is a new video from a month ago!! So glad you still doing classes!!!
Helen I have a quick question about breath in faster moving classes: I often find that I like to linger in poses (and in transitions) longer than is instructed. You also mention several times through out your video series to strive for "5 Second" breathing. Is there a "proper" or "separate" way to breath depending on the yoga style/tradition or is it solely up to the individual and circumstantial ?
Hey Rocco! Everyone's breath is going to be a different length, depending on how long you've been practicing, lung capacity, and what you prefer. I like to think of 5 to 10 second breaths when I'm practicing, but for beginner students it may be closer to 4 seconds. Different styles will emphasis the breath differently too. I hope that helps!
Right! I definitely have closer to a 4 second breath naturally since taking your breath class and def 5 seconds or longer when I am focused. I guess what I was really saying is: I was under the impression that movement should be linked to breath. I find that I feel rushed through poses in some classes because I am taking my time with my breath and movement. I find that I often times "rush" a breath or transition just to keep up with the rest of the class and I was wondering if this is a good idea or not. Am I thinking about this correctly? lol I hope this is clearer lol
Hi hi! Definitely move with your own pace of breath, even if that means you fall behind the rest of the class. As a teacher I try to teach to the average breath, but there are always students who will be faster or slower, and resting poses like child's pose are a great place to let everyone catch up. You're thinking about it right to me :)
hello Helen i've been doing vinyasa yoga with your beginners video for about month an a half everyday but i am still confused abut the breathing. when i inhale should i take the breath into my stomach or my chest ? because in plates you take your breath nto your chest but in your practice taking the breath into chest hurts a bit. what is the right way to do it ? thank you very much and by the way i love your videos great flows !!!
Hi Reyhan! Great question, thank you for reaching out. Different styles of yoga will encourage different types of breath. I like a full breath deep into your belly. If you're doing something where you need to engage your abdominal muscles more and therefore can't breathe into your belly, a more chest-centered breath may make sense. But definitely always do what's most comfortable and consistent for you. As long as you're breathing, you're doing it right :)
Another thoroughly pleasurable class.Glad I found you. Care to teach this on the veranda at Casa Armonía in Playa Junquillal, Costa Rica? ;) Private ensuite room oceanfront to trade!
a refreshing change (even if can only do half these poses) thank you.
