  • Stop gutter leaks that professionals use , fix roof drips. A synthetic rubber penetrating sealant, Parbond Penetrating Sealant by Parr is designed for sealing small joints or gaps between metal, glass, masonry and wood.
    It is resistant to sunlight and temperature variations. It will seal small joints and cracks up to 1/4", and still remain flexible. It is versatile, has moderate elongation or compression and dries quickly. Parbond provides weather protection and moisture resistance at various temperatures through evaporation of solvent to temperature extremes of -20°F to 180°F, water, water vapor and air pressure.
    Parbond can be used within the opening or as a surface coating over very fine cracks. Typical applications are: miter joints in window or door frames, needle glazing, top dressing over non-dry sealants to avoid dirt pick up. It can be a sealant for rain gutters and downspouts, around automotive windshields and back lights, and for sealing of sinks, tile and ducts in kitchens, galleys, and bathrooms.

    On your recommendation I bought a tube of Parr clear. First time I applied to aluminum gutter seam leaking I had a bad outcome. I didn't thoroughly clean off the old caulk and I didn't let the Parr cure long enough. I tried again, sanding and using isopropyl alcohol for a clean surface. I applied the Parr, which goes on easily, and let it cure for a week. No more leak! It's essential to have a spotless surface.

    How do I clean and apply this on a 2nd story gutter. Is there a way without getting on a ladder??? I have a deck. Then a small 1st floor roof…and then a 2nd floor more inwards If that makes sense…so I’d have to put a ladder from the first roof, walk on that one, and then put a second ladder on the 1st floor roof to reach the 2nd. Any way I can do this from the floor??? Any tips or advice will be appreciated!!!! Thanks!!

      Sorry, I only have bad news, I need to get my hands in the gutter and wipe the crap out of the crack first before installing the Parrbond on the inside where the source of water is. Anything else is going to be a Band-Aid and won’t last as long.

    I used this product (Parr Parabond Clear) on leaks in three separate places on my gutter. (The leaks were on the joints). I followed instructions, and prepped the joints until they were clean down to the bare metal. Then I applied the sealer as Mr. Hardware instructed, and waited a little over 24 hours. Then I ran a hose in the gutter to test whether it worked. It completely sealed the leaks in two of the joints. However in the third joint, just a tiny bit of moisture is collecting on the bottom of the gutter. My question is this: Can I add another bead over the beads I have already laid on that section of gutter? I assume the sealer would find its way into any remaining cracks. But I'm not sure. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks in advance!

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  4 роки тому +1

      Yes you can add more Parabond over the old. Was the gap bigger between the metal in the leaker?

  • @1janiesuper
    @1janiesuper 7 років тому +1

    I like that you only had to use a small amount, rather than coat the bottom of the gutter. I would rather not coat the gutter because it impedes the water flow. I like that it sinks into the joint.

      Too bad there isn't an easy way to clean the slime that builds up between the metal surfaces. Sorry to hear your failure, could a putty knife wraped in cotton rag with alcohol on it slide between the surfaces? Possibly from the outside?

    I wonder what you would recommend if the water is leaking because no drip edge (plastic porch roof). I don't think it's possible to install a drip edge on this plastic porch roof. I need some way of keeping the water from back flowing onto the wood frame that holds up the plastic roof. Would parbond work in that case, between wood and metal? Or would a product like Through the roof be better? Thanks for your video!

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  2 роки тому

      I can’t see the pitch or structure you have, but sometimes a bead of caulk, Parrbond is too expensive for this job, like Through the roof, or Lexel on the bottom edge of the plastic can make the water drip there instead of flowing back towards the wood.

      @@MrHardware1 Thank you so much! We ended up using through the roof. We love that product. Oh and I found out we have a drip edge but the gutter was hanging too close to it and the gutter was bolted to the wood without rubber gasket seal thing (can't remember what that's called!). Really appreciate your help! Great video and advice!

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  2 роки тому

      Sorry, I don’t understand ’eve traft’. The gutter needs to be behind the drip edge and not caulked there. Sort of a floating flashing.

    QUESTION: Do you know if I can paint over the sealant? If so, how long do I need to wait after application to do so. (My house sits about 15 feet below street level and you can see down into the front gutters from the street and the driveway.) Thanks

    The Parbond looks great for small joints/gaps, but my gutter is leaking from a few small holes (about dime size). Is there a product you can recommend for this? I've read that Flex Seal and other heavy/thick products often fail in time. Thanks!
