+Sarah Smith I'm so glad you like it! Let me know if you use the tutorial to make your own fabric basket :)
Whitney Sews I did try this out and it was was so easy! One question, when you take the four inches out for the corners, how would you adjust for different sizes? I had so much fun making this, I want to make more in different sizes! :-)
I haven't gotten around to making multiple sizes, so I'm not sure the exact measurements, but I believe you will need to adjust the corner cut out as well as width of the pieces. Sorry I don't have any more details on it.
Whitney Sews it's okay, I think I just figured it out! I did a Google search and after some serious looking (some people are busting out serious algebra for this) it basically comes down to cutting out half of what you want the depth to be.
So, yours we cut that 4 inches out to equal an 8 inch bottom. So if I wanted a 10 inch depth, I would cut 5 inches, etc!
I am so excited lol thank you again for the tutorial, I am about to make a ton of these! 😁😁
Awesome! So glad you were able to get it figured out :)
Thanks for a simple, easy to follow tutorial. I will not fear making one after seeing this.
Glad you liked it! Let me know if you make your own :)
Thank you Whitney for a clear and straightforward tutorial. I have made 4 storage caddies today and I'm very pleased with the outcome. I did, however, use the stabiliser on the handles aswell which gives an overall firmer feel. I shall be looking through your other tutorials very soon :)
+Julie Maddison Awesome! So glad you gave the project a try and love it. Don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss any of my new videos :)

i love this method, it is very easy and does not use as much fabric! thank you!
Excellent tutorial and your instructions are so clear and easy to understand - thank you so much 😊
Thank you! Glad you like the tutorial :)
I enjoyed watching you make the basket/ bag. I make them also but instead of leaving the top open like you did, I always leave the lining open a tad so I can turn the project. That way the top edge is never left undone and the bottom inside opening can easily be sewn shut or do it by hand.
she folds the seam allowance under, and then topstitches all the way around to finish the edges and close the hole. she doesnt leave anything un done or open. both ideas are great
Thanks, Whitney! I have just made my first basket! Great tutorial!! :)
Just finished the project. It came out great! Thanks for the tutorial.
Wonderful!
Best video ever. Very easy to follow...cant thank you enough!
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked the tutorial! I have several other bag how tos on my channel and more to come :)

Thank you so much for the instructions to make a nice cute storage bag. I like it.
Love this! It would make great gift basket, too!
I just used your idea on my 1 hour bag with the opening at the top versus at the bottom. Thanks for showing your steps. These bags are so addicting. I also quilted mine and used some left over fusible batting. Worked great.
Cynthia Prater Awesome! Would love to see a pic of your bag :)
Where can I post it?
Cynthia Prater If you are on facebook you can post on my page or on Instagram with the #whitneysews. Facebook link is in the description box. Can't wait to see pics :)
Love these easy fabric baskets! I like to use Bosal In-R-Form Plus for the great structure. Nice vid!! 😊
Kelley Hornberger I haven't tried that product yet, hopefully I can someday :)
Thanks for the simple project I have seen others that are ore complex and take up a lot of time sometimes us Mamas and beginners only have a limited amount of time. :)

Thanks! I found it on clearance many years ago and bought everything that was left of it at that store.
Brilliant! I have been wanting to make on of these for ages but other videos make it look hard! Cant wait to try this :-)
This is very well presented, Whitney. Clear and organized! If I wanted to make an even larger basket, would I use the same process? Thanks. Pat Berne
Hi! Liked ur way of teaching, but I would like your advice as to instead of the stabaliser, which other fabric can I use so that I can have firm finish.
Super easy, thanks! You are a good teacher.
Glad you liked it :)
Never mind about the fabric... I just read an earlier post! hahahahaha! Shoulda looked first! I definitely will make many of these baskets!
This is so adorable! Love the fabric 💖

Thanks! I'm so glad you liked it :)
This project is absolutely adorable as are you!
Made this fabric storage box. love it.
Fantastic tutorial, thank you! I see these in stores but they always are plastic-based or fabrics that would only last five minutes - now I can make my own!
I was wondering how you determined the size of the square to cut out of the bottom? I was wanting to make bigger baskets so would like to know how to scale the box. Thank you, all the way from Australia :-)
How easy you make things look beautiful 😊
Thank you! I watched another videos and they’re so much more complicated, I love the way you explained everything. I have some fabric and fusible so I’m ready to try. Also, maybe kind of silly question but what’s the actual size of the bin when is finished? Thanks again
I'm sorry but it's been several years so I don't remember the finished size.
Great tutorial! Adorable fabric!
This was a wonderful tutorial, you make it look so easy

This is gorgeous Whitney. Lee x
Crafty Loops Thank you!
Hi Whitney, Would you please let me know how to calculate the extra inches for the width & the length? I'm planning to make a different size than yours and I don't know how much extra fabric should I use. Is it based on the percentage of the original size or does it have to be 9" extra on the 10" side & 5" extra on the 8"side? And are these numbers fix for any sizes of the fabric baskets? Thank you for your help in advance.
Love your storage basket. I'm a fairly new to sewing about 2 years. I'm making your basket on thought I was doing everything correctly but when cutting the 4" corners lining them up and sewing them. Something is wrong. My seams are on the side and not on the ends. Would you. have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thank you for the time.
Very cool basket!
SockMonkeysbyCheryl Thank you!
This is such a great video! I just made 2 of these baskets in the last 2 days and I'm a super beginner. You made it so easy and straight forward so thank you! One question....how did you calculate your dimensions? I would like to sew a bigger one but I have no idea how to measure out my fabrics.
Awesome! I'm so glad you made two baskets using my video! I show how to make a pattern in one of my tote bag videos. It's a similar enough project that you should be able to use it to create a pattern for a basket. In the video I pieced together the material because I had a design I wanted on the front, but you would just cut two pieces of fabric the size of your finished pattern (one for the front and one for the back). Hope that helps!

I just finished making one and it was soooo easy!! Thank you for the tutorial!! I have a question ..........I'd like to make these in all different sizes for different things so how would I know what size to cut from the bottom to make the corners?? This one we cut a 4" square....how do I figure out what size to cut of another size??
Jeanne Mahoney , what is the fabric cut to final size ratio?
The example one is 19”X13” with 4”X4” corners, what do you end up with once sewn?
Thanks for your help 😊
N
Brilliant tutorial and am definitely going to try this. Thank you very much.
Really good clear simple to follow instructions. Thank you
great vid thanks how do I work out my corner cut on larger pieces of fabric please XX
That is the cutest vintagy fabric!! LOVE IT!!! And I never thought this would be so easy... is this your favorite stabilizer for this project?
scrapfaire Thanks! No, this wasn't my favorite stabilizer for this project. Check out the video linked where I talk more about my thoughts on it. I haven't played around with this particular project enough to decide what my favorite for it is.
GREAT tutorial. If one wished to make this bigger or smaller, how do we figure out how big or small to cut the squares?
+Lynn Frick It's a little hard to explain in a comment, but here is a tote bag video where I touch on creating a pattern in whatever size you want. You can use that info to create a pattern for this basket as well. I hope that helps! ua-cam.com/video/fBAFNBNYjMM/v-deo.html
can you tell me who made the outer fabric? Love it. thanks.
+Kathleen K I can't remember, but it was clearanced out at Hobby Lobby 5 years ago. I bought all 7+ yards that were available at mine :)
Oh I need to make some of these!! Right now!
Very nice tutorial
love the fabric!!!!
Jill Marie Schierbaum Thanks :)
Elephants are my favorite!
Thank you very much! Great tutorial! Can we wash I since there is a fusible?
Yes, as long as the fusible interfacing you used is washable than the finished basket is too :)
Thanks a lot! Have a great day. 😎
Great tutorial! Thank you so much! I've been meaning to make one of these.
Your fabric is beautiful!
