Thank you for finally being the first video that actually shows you how to make them as opposed to making them while talking about their personal life giving no guidance on what's being made!
I have come back to this video several times the past 2 yrs. I see some fabric that would work so well as gifts, like chicken or farm, that made an excellent container to hold eggs gathered from the chicken coop. I gotta confess that I thought trying a stiffer craft fusion would be impressive and stand up very rigid. Well, turning the bag was almost impossible but I finally got it. I also want to mention that when using a directional print like dogs, cars etc the folding up and sewing sides left the back with upside down dogs, cars etc. I have learned to cut in half, flip upside down and sew together when working with a directional fabric. It then has the finished bag all in the right direction.
I had the same issue when using a stiffer product. Try this instead, use the fusible fleece on the front fabric and the liner and that should do the trick (even better if you use a thinner fusible fleece on the lining fabric like the one I used on my handled tote bag). Thanks for the tip on the upside down dogs... my layer cake fabric basket shows how to use two pieces of fabric for that very reason. Have a great day!
I have not sewn in 20 years. I received a sewing machine for Christmas. Today I used your easy to follow step by step video to make a basket. Quick and easy. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Angie, glad I found your basket tutorial. I keep the basket by my sewing machine to round up all my cut threads. Now my friends all want one. Love the clear and simple way you teach. I will be watching for more fabric tutorials Thank you..
I love how easy to follow your tutorial is! I made a basket (and a few other things) as a gift to celebrate the engagement of one of my twins. I am new at sewing but I am also an artist (as was my Mom) and know that it doesn't have to be perfect...it comes from the heart and soul.
UGH! I just spend yesterday making some fabric baskets for my sewing room from a different tutorial and I wasn’t happy with them. So, today I happened to run across your channel and LOVE the way you made yours. Your detailed explanation was so much better to understand. And the baskets turned out so much better then the ones I made yesterday.. So, tomorrow I will be busy making more little baskets from your tutorial. I am actually excited about making more. They are just so adorable! And you can never have too many little baskets in your sewing room! Also, thanks so much for making a PDF to go along with the video. It makes it so much easier. I appreciate the time and effort that you took to make it not only fun but easier for your followers!
Thank you. I have just made one for my 91 year old mother-in-law who is in an Aged Care Facility. It will be great for her to keep all sorts of bits and pieces in. Made it with tea cup and saucer fabric as she really likes her cuppas! Louise
I have been looking for an easy tutorial to be able to make these baskets. Yours was the best. And the confusing part that you spoke of you walked us through it very carefully. Thank you.
I just had a "Duh, why didn't I think of that" moment when you used your square ruler to make the boxed bottoms. I don't think I have ever watched anyone do that.. and it is so logical! Thank you for teaching me a new trick!
This is a great size and I like the simplicity of using a fat quarter. I made several and lined them with natural colored canvas and used a lightweight interfacing for the exterior and no need for it on the canvas. Everyone has their own way of doing these and it’s fun seeing the different ways.
I love this pattern! So Easy! You get TWO baskets from one pair of fat quarters! Only took me less than 30 minutes to sew the pair! P.S. I can't use pins either for the same reason!
After watching the video a few times I am finally going to make at least two today :) Your baskets and fabrics are gorgeous I wish I could raid your fabric stash!! Thank you x
Hi, thank you for showing us how to make these. I have just finished my first one, little hiccup with not quite sewing at the top to get the opening in, so had to do a little bit of stitch to make sure the little gap was closed, but not bad for a newbie to sewing. Only been going since may 23. Again thank you.
Thank you for this awesome tutorial! I am going to make some for my bathroom drawer. I made some reusable make up remover pads and thought it would be cute to store them in one of these.
Thanks for the tutorial. I am making some for a bazaar for our non profit sewing group to by fabric for the items we give to charities. I did find that if I measure the cut out of the corner from the side seam, not the edge of fabric, that the edges lay flat and match when sewing.
This a clear and well done tutorial, perfect for beginners. Bravo! Great attention to detail. I am going to make some of these for boo baskets with halloween fabric. Thank you!
Thank you for this video, I've made so many of these and given them to ALL my friends. I've made all sizes with all kinds of fabric and they are just the best! I've kept many for myself, too!
These are cute. My mom taught me when you sew, at the end give your fabric a haircut. This is something I still say. My mom taught me so much in sewing. I miss my mom so much. She passed away May of 2017. ❤️❤️❤️ Love your channel, you give great instructions. I will be back. ❤️
These are so cute. I just happen to have some fat quarters and now I know what I can do with them. You always make the cutest things. Thank you so much for showing how to make these. Make adorable gifts. You can put all kinds of things in them, like lotions, soaps, sewing notions, hard candies just anything. You can even put cards (made from Stampin Up) to go along with the gifts you put in your baskets.
These are great! Our quilt shop that closed (owner retired) had bins sorted by color of single fat quarters and I so miss that! But this should also work if I make the outside with a simple patched fabric piece. I have a lot of precuts and scraps. I love the clips too, no poking myself!
Great video. Your instructions are very explicit and helpful. Even if someone did see the inside of your basket, if they were rude enough to comment on a crooked seam then they are not your friend! Don't waste time with unkind people!
I got rid of all my fabric because I felt my sewing days were done. Love paper crafting too much. However you've convinced me to try these. Great directions.
Hi Angie, I've just come across you. I'm a total newbie to sewing, I have just purchased my first sewing machine and, to be quite frank, it's a bit scary! @ChicnScratch *QUESTION* Reference to the bottom corners of these baskets. When measuring the corners. = Is the finished product twice the width of your measurements.? Meaning if I measured 1-1/2 inch square I'd end up with a 3 inch wide bottom.? Or if I measured 2-1/2 inch square I'd end up with a 5 inch wide bottom.? *GREAT SHOW.!!* *Thank you for sharing this with us*
Angie, I love your fabric bags. They will make cute easter baskets for the grandkids. I like that you have a "sewing video". Hope to see more of these. Thanks!!
Thank you so much Angie, I really really love ❤these cute and adorable little baskets. And I absolutely adore the fabrics too. And those little clips are so much better than pins. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤
LOVE THIS BASKET!! Perfect easy tutorial! I’m going to make some right now for Easter goodies. I was wondering if it makes a difference if you put the fusible fleece lining on the outer fabric or the inner fabric?
Sweet baby Jesus..THAT'S how you sew the top of the bag! you basically slide the sewing machine inside and go around 🤯 I have been thinking for WEEKS how are they getting the top seams so straight. I have been watching tutorials but they tell you what to do and show it done but this video actually shows how to do it. THANK YOU 😊
This was so helpful thank you so much, I just got sewing sewing machine for Christmas, and so far I made a pillow, a pillow case, and a shirt, this is my new project thank you again
I have some SU! fabric from years ago that I thought I should get rid of....not now. I can make some cute fabric baskets for my craft room. I've never used those clips. I need to invest in some of those.
I love these! Thank you so much for showing a step by step tutorial. My husband just baught me a sewing machine & I want to make these. What kind of fabric did you use & where & what clips are those? ❤😘
Hi Traci, I use Moda Fabric or Riley Blake Fabric and you can find both of them online. Here's a link to the clips I bought on Amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B07YM3CFHX/?ref=exp_chicnscratch_dp_vv_d
I'm sorry I don't know. It was one of my first when I was learning how to make them. In the future I will make notes when I'm sewing. Once I get unpacked I'll see if I can remake the larger version to get the measurements.
Interesting! I've never seen someone cut before boxing the corners, but after sewing the side seams. We all have our own rhythm to these useful projects. Love it. And lots of ♥️ for your East TN accent from SWVA 😊
thank you so much for filming this video and making perfect sense. i have tried so many videos to learn how to make these and none of them make sense but you explained things great.
Just found you, Angie! Glad I did!! I want to make the little basket with the green fabric with circles overlap. Think you said it was a mess up one, but I love the size. Approx. what would the measurements be for the fabric and lining???
Hi Kim, I'm so sorry I have no idea! I was just cutting fabric and sewing. I will try to recreate that size but it will be early 2021. We just moved and I'm still in the process of unpacking.
So cute! Love them. One suggestion would be to put a packet of something in the layers at the bottom to ground the basket, like sand, to give a little weight, then less likely to fall over. Thanks for the tutorial!!!😊
These are sooooo AWESOME! If you gave these as gifts, what might be some items you would put inside the baskets? I knew you would have some good ideas!
Hi from 🇬🇧 these baskets are really gorgeous and your instructions were so clear. I enjoyed your accent too. 😊 I have made some and love them. They will make fab presents too. I only changed one detail..I cut out the little squares BEFORE stitching the 2 sides , so as I didn't have to cut through my stitches. Thanks so much for sharing this. Amy D.
When doing the 1 1/2 inch cutout on corners---I think the measuring works best not using the seam part but measure from the seam. then you can use a 1/4 seam. Please let me know if it makes sense to you, thanks
I like the clips too, but they are a little pricey. You are the only one I’ve seen that explains when you put the one inside of the other. Thank you. Now I understand what’s being done. The material is gorgeous. Very cute. Love it.❤❤❤ Do you make your labels yourself or do you have them made? I’m going to try these.😁❤️
Hello on my first basket I did cut out the 1-1/2” square. On the second basket I did not cut out the 1-1/2” square for the bottom. I think it was easier then I trimmed with a rotary cutter the triangle of the bottom to leave a 1/2” seam.
I just made one of your baskets. So easy and cute! I am going to make them for my grandkids for Easter and fill with candy. I haven't sewed for a long while. It felt good to get my sewing machine out and make some quick projects. Thank you for the video.
Your tutorial is perfect and very clear. Would you mind commenting on the decorative item you have under your sewing machine. I really like it especially the pockets in the front for catching and placing items. Thank you.
Great job, you are a very talented lady! I have a suggestion to stabilize the bottom. Cut a piece of craft cardboard or even thin wood. Cover it with the inside fabric using spray adhesive. The bags will sit up independently that way. Thanks for a great video!
Chicnscratch!😂😂Thanks A Million for your "easy peasy" fabric bin/tote tutorial. You're "the best you tube sewing teacher".(YOU ROCK!"KEEP UP "THE GREAT JOB"!) Tonight's my 1st time coming across your "Awesome" sewing video & "I,subscribed"to your videos.😊
Am so grateful for this easy to follow video. Thank you . I have now made three fabric baskets for Christmas gifts and have made matching tissue covers to place inside .
I love these baskets. I tried something different where I left my opening for turning them right side out. I just left one of the bottom corner areas open. It left plenty of room for turning plus all I had to do is just hand sew it closed using the ladder stitch. Or, you can sew it closed by machine. Either way.
I truly enjoyed this video. You explain so clearly even a beginner like me can understand. It would help me of you referred to fabric as right side and wrong side, instead of outside.
I'm with you about the wonder clips! Pins hate me, or maybe they love me since they poke me continually LOL! Such cute baskets, I made a couple larger ones like these this week but now I want to try these! Thanks for sharing!!!
Bravo! I LOVE THEM!!! I most definitely will try them and I can`t even sew. They`re very easy to make. I`ve found my beginners project!! THANK YOU Princess
These are super cute, but tbh, to do the corner cuts, if you turn it side ways (with the seam in the center) first, then measure, sew, you can cut the fabric last. This works really well for fabrics that want to slide or fray. Cutting a right angle triangle for the corners is a great little template to have if youre making tons of these all the same size.
Thank you for finally being the first video that actually shows you how to make them as opposed to making them while talking about their personal life giving no guidance on what's being made!
you're very welcome!!
🤣🤣🤣 That's true!!!
Amen!

How cute! Pressing the entire project as it’s made is really important and helps flatten that top edge.

These are lovely. That green fabric is so pretty. I often find when I make things like this that the lining looks baggy.
You might use a slightly bigger seam allowance in the bottom half of the lining. That will help it not be so baggy.
Wish me luck, I’m going to try this and fill them with treats for my office coworkers.

I’m going to try these.😁❤️
I get my labels online at the Dutch Label Shop. Thanks for watching my video and your kind words!!
Hello on my first basket I did cut out the 1-1/2” square. On the second basket I did not cut out the 1-1/2” square for the bottom. I think it was easier then I trimmed with a rotary cutter the triangle of the bottom to leave a 1/2” seam.
I’ve been wanting to make some of these as gifts. Looks simple enough for me.
I just made one of your baskets. So easy and cute! I am going to make them for my grandkids for Easter and fill with candy. I haven't sewed for a long while. It felt good to get my sewing machine out and make some quick projects. Thank you for the video.
thanks Cindee! I would love to see a picture of the baskets you made.
Your tutorial is perfect and very clear. Would you mind commenting on the decorative item you have under your sewing machine. I really like it especially the pockets in the front for catching and placing items. Thank you.
Hi Lisa, It's a sewing machine mat and I bought it from a lady on Etsy, here's the name of her store: cottagegardenquilts. Thanks!
I just finished one! Just the right size!
that's great!!
Great job, you are a very talented lady! I have a suggestion to stabilize the bottom. Cut a piece of craft cardboard or even thin wood. Cover it with the inside fabric using spray adhesive. The bags will sit up independently that way. Thanks for a great video!
Thanks for the tip!
Wow, thank you so much!!
I would recommend a light press or finger press all those side seams. Maybe a larger gap for turning if you struggle with that step.
Am so grateful for this easy to follow video. Thank you . I have now made three fabric baskets for Christmas gifts and have made matching tissue covers to place inside .
Thank you for watching!!
I just want to say thank you for your very detailed instructions. I've watched other tutorials and yours are, by far, the best! Well done!!
thank you so much!!
I'm a beginner when it comes to sewing and this is a project I can actually do. Thank you so much for sharing. They are pretty cute -- all sizes.
You're welcome! I'd love to see a picture when you make one!
I love these baskets. I tried something different where I left my opening for turning them right side out. I just left one of the bottom corner areas open. It left plenty of room for turning plus all I had to do is just hand sew it closed using the ladder stitch. Or, you can sew it closed by machine. Either way.
Great idea!
I truly enjoyed this video. You explain so clearly even a beginner like me can understand. It would help me of you referred to fabric as right side and wrong side, instead of outside.
I'm glad it was helpful!
I'm with you about the wonder clips! Pins hate me, or maybe they love me since they poke me continually LOL! Such cute baskets, I made a couple larger ones like these this week but now I want to try these! Thanks for sharing!!!
Ty so much one of the best videos I've seen you explain everything very plainly. Love your fabric. You have a wonderful voice.
thank you!!
Angie these are wonderful. Even I might manage these. I might make some to put Easter eggs in as a gift. Thank you.
that's a great idea! Thanks Margaret!
I'm with you, I poke myself every time I mess with those darn pins I don't know how anyone gets use to that pain hahaha very nicely done sweety 🌻💕
thank you!
Bravo! I LOVE THEM!!! I most definitely will try them and I can`t even sew. They`re very easy to make. I`ve found my beginners project!! THANK YOU Princess
Definitely try it
Love using the clips
Beautiful baskets enjoy the video
Have fun!
Darling basket. You did a great job making your video. More sewing please.
Thank you! Will do!
Thank you, super, clear, precise and easy to follow. Prettiest mess ups ever. ☺️ What super presents these will make. Off to rework my mess ups. 👍
Thanks so much 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I’ve been curious how to make these! I’m going to make a couple tomorrow for my son’s blocks and cars ❤
You're very welcome! Happy sewing!
