...and just like that Brian lost his 6 pack! FINALLY! 😂
😅
HES GAINED A 12 PACK
Ibis lied, you asked for me a few months back at the festival on one of your streams. And they fully denied it🤣
@@dannysalasmtb Hahaha! That’s right! Those bastards! 😂
😂
Ohhhh man, I still remember our very first experience on an E-bike way way back. You are in for some seriously fun adventures on that bear!!
Hope you are stopping up at Everstoke this trip West? Dabble in some trail building? Oh and Tommy!
I truly feel like mountain biking has saved my life and I believe the ebike I got for my father is extending his life. Thanks for the awesome videos!
I'm 71 yrs. old and swapped my SC 5010 for a Specialized Turbo Levo a couple of months ago. I find that I can ride about twice as long and explore more territory and If I ride in Eco mode (lowest power) I can still get a great workout. The surprise for me is the way that it takes on janky uphill sections so well and I love riding uphill switchbacks on it. It's a bit long legged and heavy so it took some time to get used to riding tight downhill switchbacks. Love it!
Thanks for ruining the trails tho, it’s super fun hitting these trails these days that have been torqued to hell. Fat people on fat bikes exactly what we need. But you are senior so you get excused just don’t ruin other Down hill trails for people that are just trying to have a smooth ride
@@HD6SOCCER OK , you sound young and angry, let me fill in some blanks for you. I started mountain biking in 1987 (riding rigid, not even a suspension fork) and started entering races in 1990. I did well until I quit the NORBA race circuit in around 2002. I've lived longer than I expected so I'm old now. I bought the ebike so that I can have a little help riding the trails I've been riding all these years. I ride mostly in eco mode and I don't damage trails any more than people on regular bikes. I'm 6 feet tall and I weigh in at 170 pounds. I ride the trails at least 4 times a week and I lift weights every other day. Fat? Not compared to the majority of Americans. Keep riding bro, it's the best way to fight the aging process!
@@beezerdoodle6140 lol you got me but I’m just frustrated seeing people use e bikes in places they know damn well they shouldn’t be using at like the soquel flow trail. I totally understand why so many trails are kept secret and you know for a fact some of these people would never MTB if it wasn’t for e bikes making the climbs accessible because they are just lazy
The C1 EMTB has been a blessing for me after breaking my back and for my wife after L5S1 fusion. We both love exploring our limits on the bikes. We met doing century rides in Germany in the late 80s. As we get older some of our abilities lessen. This has helped us to take back some of the things we love. Any day on the bike is a good day.
I wasn't riding as much during covid due to being as icu nurse working 5 12hr night shift and having rheumatoid arthritis. Lost what little fitness i had and gained 30lbs. Finally bought an ebike last year. Now even working 60hr a week and knee pains, I can go out and ride. Even back to pre-covid weight.
Holy Hell! My old self found a new muse without even watching the video! The title was enough. I'm fully awake! Continue!
Honestly.... This looks beautiful. I love how the vibe they're going for. It looks styled after a supercar. Looking forward to the evolution of ebikes
Holy smoke...that's a Sledge Hammer of a E-Downhill Bike. Just awsome
63 years young and more than a few knee surgeries and my Kenevo SL keeps me riding blue and some blacks. I have an acoustic for the gravity parks and places that discriminate against us old people on eMTB’s. Yes, Class 1 should be legal on MTB trails. My Kenevo can usually pass as an acoustic with the smallish down tube minimalist motor. A lot of the mid assist bikes are very stealth. I just ordered an Orbea Wild to have a full assist big battery.
You can definitely hear how heavier this bike is while you're riding!! Can't wait to see what more you can do with this on future videos!!!
Il est vraiment magnifique ton nouveau VTTAE IBIS 😍🤩😉, bravo BRYAN
Had a Levo since end of 2016. To me ebikes are more versatile for training. You could set the power settings to feel like the weight of a regular bike on eco mode. There are apps that can change the power setting based on your heart rate. Legs get to tired and lungs start to hurt, put it in turbo mode and have a blast.
I have an orbea rise and I love how light it is. When the motor is turned off it's basically a non-carbon bike weight-wise. Definitely agree with the versatility on being able to choose the assist level and sometimes it actually gives me confidence to go farther with low to no assist (e.g. eco) since I'm confident that even if I'm exhausted, I can still get back home by turning the assist to high.
"I think a class one e-bike should be allowed anywhere a regular mountain bike is allowed to go"
I couldn't agree more. I love riding my Rail-7 but I don't ride any more or faster than I did my hard tail Litespeed 25 years ago. The problem we face is both ignorance and stubborn ideas of what mountain bike is and how people believe our sport and/or nature should only be enjoyed the way they do it.
The bike looks awesome. I’d like to see Ibis integrate the display/controller into the top tube the way specialized did. Busy cockpit and looks like it would be pretty easy to break in a crash.
I agree that an integrated system is the way forward. The bracket for the kiox is brittle to say the least. It is also much longer than it needs to be. After mine broke I had to use x2 cable ties around the handlebars plus one threaded through the kiox's mount. It is much more secure now than the factory mount
At this point in ebikes in my opinion if the display is not integrated that is a no go to me. Just seems cheap and they didn't want to spend the money. The price they want for this ebike and not integrating display, no thanks!
Bosch's continuing to have a locked ecosystem with clunky displays is really their main negative. Most other brand motors you can connect to Garmin and Wahoo. Unfortunately or fortunately, however you want to to look at it, their EMTB mode is just so darn good that you have to suffer the display.
I would have never imagined that you would have an EBike! 😂 they are loads of fun!
That flashlight is cool, but that cockpit is seriously busy. A wireless shifter and seat post would help, but Ebikes with controllers in the top tube are much more pleasant to look at.
Really interested in seeing an e-bike tour on one of your massive European routes. Perfect terrain for it.
Hike a bike with an ebike is no fun though, any energy you save during normal climbing gets depleted if you have to carry a 60lb bike up a very steep hill.
By state law, in Arkansas ebikes are legal anywhere a regular bike is legal. So ride Bentonville and surrounding area. on the Oso all you like.
Awesome, glad to see you got a class-1 eMTB. I want to get one myself some day (it's the money that gets in the way). Looking forward to your eMTB adventures, Brian !
That little laugh as you went round the first corner was like 'wow that was easy' 😂
Looks like a old mountain cycle with a motor! 👍
Thanks for the awesome video Brian. Much appreciated. I fell in love with the Hakka this year. There is just something fun about a sub 20 Lbs bike. Easy to ride, easy to transport, easy to store. Love to see you ride that same route on yours sometime too👌
Really great to see this EMTB video! and thanks for the great mood boosts mine a lot! By the way EMTB's are great you are 4x yourself on those things!
I started mountain biking in 1998 and recently due to a bad knee went to a ebike. I'm back on the trail...cheers!
I'm stoked you got an emtb! I started mtbing last year on one and I've been having a blast. Your uphill challenges are gonna get way more rowdy! 🤘
Alternative title: BKXC rides a fishing trail.😛The walk mode is a great idea.
recently for my 55th birthday i purchased my 1st ebike …norco sight vlt…after 20yrs of pedalling high end santa cruzs it was time for me to give up all those anti ebike ideas i had…and as others have found out you actually have to pedal but the uphills turn into feature that you actually look forward to…instead of grinding your knees and torturing your body…its been a revelation to a new form of mtnbiking for me….
Looking forward to seeing you ride some more technical/ steeper trails
All my friends think I'm just sitting on my E-bike doing nothing and not getting a workout. I'm glad you can hopefully help clarify that. Easier but not Easy. The perfect description!!!
You are already a BOSS at climbing, you on that bike is like the "cheat code" for Contra the video game
I got my ebike in 21' it has been a blast ! My sister and brother in law have them now too
It's the future, about time major UA-camrs have been showing footage! Great job Brian!
I'm going hold you on taking a quick spin B. & I have to believe that Ibis sent Sarah an E Bike as well if not at least you'll be able to keep up with her now. 👍 Great Video
Another amazing video Brian love it
San Francisco looks so perfect - It's like a Pixar picture
Havent watched it fully yet Brian but so far seems amazing Brian. Great video Brian
Thank You so much Brian for your speaking up about class 1 ebikes....so refreshing to hear a youtuber finally talk about it. The Oso is so darn cool looking...have fun! I love riding in your neck of the woods on my ebike. (and it is still a workout...just put in more miles...2 loops around rather than just 1 and at a higher cadence.)
got to love those ibis dangle angle's ;)
Never understood why certain trails don’t allow e-bikes, or the hate for them. My opinion is whatever gets you outside and active is perfect for you. Awesome bike
Lots of a hole ebikes out there tire buzzing analog bikers on steep climbs without calling out or just waiting for a good place to pass.
its because they tear up trails and allow people who dont have any mtb experience on trails and get into dangerous situations for themselves and others
E-bikes increase trail traffic with riders who are usually NEWer to riding. This overcrowds trails and increases trail damage (widening). The other big problem with E-bikes is the FIRE risk. I know that the chances are VERY LOW with these modern/big name bikes, but there are LOTS of off-brand e-bikes that overheat, spark, or worse.
Not to mention even specialized levo which is a reputable big brand are known to catch fire
My GOD that monster is glorious looking, just wow : D
Still saving for my first bike........love your bike... congratulations 🎊
I absolutely love my ebike! Really liking the look of the ibis. I agree as a lifetime mountain bike rider that class 1 ebikes should be allowed anywhere mountain bikes are legal.
E-bikes are great and I wish I had one. Only problem I have with E-bikes are the guys pedaling up a trail that is traditionally a downhill trail and we meet in a tight spot while I'm hammering down the trail. As far as class one E-bikes I agree they should be allowed almost everywhere
Welcome to the dark side buddy 🤘
It’s funny when I see like 8 notifications simultaneously for this bike. I feel like I’m in a cult and they’re trying to me to drink the Kool Aid.
I would drink this Kool-Aid if I could afford one. Haha!!
That's just the embargo lifting.
Awesome bike 💪🤘👍❤❤❤
Pretty sweet ride!
Never thought I’d see you with an ebike. Now I want to see some epic climb challenge vids 👍🏻
I switch between an ebike and regular bike. After throwing the ebike around on tech trails the regular bike feels effortless to pop over stuff.
🤣 the junk store. Can’t wait to see what adventures you go on your new toy
Damnnnn that looks so good
I don't love riding e-Bikes, but it is nice to see DW on something other than a Shuttle. I might try to get a demo on one of these once demos start picking up again. Regarding fitness boosts from e-Bikes; I've demo'd a few of them. Most of them have pedal assist that requires some higher cadence for full boost.
I had to maintain 75-90rpm to get the full boost when I rode my local loop. I did shave 14 minutes off my best time of 1hr3min, but there were still singlespeeders that had times faster then my ebike time. When I got done with the ride, my lungs were burning. No, they aren't the same as unassisted bikes, but the idea that they require little to no effort, (or are "motorcycles,") is idiotic.
You know, I love my e-bike but I don’t think it’s better or worse than a standard mtb, it’s just good for me. My son has ridden mine but prefers his standard Ibis and that’s great, I love his bike too, it I can only afford one or the other Plus now I can at least keep up with him on the climbs but still not the descents😁
My first question after riding an e-bike was “how do I get exercise on this thing?” I felt nothing, however the climb was very fast and ez.
@@brucemolina6291 Well, nobody says you have to ride in Turbo/Boost mode. I ride mine almost 100% Eco in the dirt. My heart max heart rate can be anywhere from the high 170’s to the low 190’s, depending on the trail I choose. I would suspect if you’re not feeling any effort on the e-bike you’re either not trying g to ride hard, you’re in too high of an assist mode (and still not riding hard), you’re not riding very hard terrain or, a combination of all of the above.
@@fredman1085 or I’m used to riding bikes with zero assist… no way it’s the same! You will always get a harder workout without assist. Everyone deserves to be happy, but the e-bike thing just needs to seen for what is truly is (assist = easier). Good luck on your happiness my friend.
@@brucemolina6291 "You will always get a harder workout without assist" --- No argument from me, you're absolutely right. My disagreement is saying you felt nothing. I would think if this is true that either you weren't pushing hard enough, or perhaps you were in too high of an assist mode, or where you where riding just lent itself to your not feeling anything. But it really doesn't matter, I'm not arguing that everyone should be on an e-bike, not at all, we should all be able to ride what ever we choose as long as it's not hurting the environment or others on the trails. Enjoy your rides and be safe. And thanks for an honest and polite discourse.
Ive had an Emtb for the last couple of years. Ill never go back. Also great to have both.
Mountain bike companies: “we need to be more inclusive to attract more riders”
Also mountain bike companies: “here’s our new bike that costs 11,999.97$ before upgrades”
That's what I'm saying. Plenty of excellent e-29er's out there for under $5, which is still pricey for me.
That's a nice looking bike.
Welcome to the future, great you liked ⚡️🤙🏽⚡️. I had an open heart surgery last November and the EMTB has been a game changer during my recovery ❤️🩹 and now it’s my favorite for sure.
Sick bike!!!
I like ebikes. It's gotten more people into the spot of mountain biking and they are great for commuting. But please don't tell me they aren't just flat out faster. They definitely give a boost to power outside the realm of human capably. I'm a ok mountain biker, I race XC and do a bit of swift in the winter. My FTP is 250W. If I could add 250W to my FTP that... would be impossible. Even with the added weight of the bike you're still going to climb better than just about anyone. Even a beginner with an ebike can put out Tour De France level numbers. For reference, an absolutely incredible FTP would be anything over 400W and an average mountain biker whole has been riding for many years can do anything over 200W. With an ebike you could easily reach a combined total power over a ride of well over 400W
Ibis sure knows how to build a gorgeous bike! I have 2 Ibis bikes(silk Ti & HDR Mojo 650B). Wow
Can’t wait to try it out🤘🏽
I had no idea you started Trail One. The Hells Gate grips quickly became my favorite and made it on all 4 of my bikes.
For Ibis' first foray into the eMTB world that's a really great looking bike.
The price of admission is steeper than most would be able to afford, including myself.
The weight penalty vs. a Ripmo AF would be hard to swallow for me personally. At nearly 1/3 my body weight that's a lot to throw around on trail.
Nice that the Oso retains the DW Link, and has a bit more travel than the Ripmo v2 or AF.
Maybe one day when I get a big boy bank account...
To lube the chain, stick an Allen wrench (4mm I think) into one of the front chainring mounting bolts and back the crank against it. This allows you to free wheel the chain backwards to lube the chain. Works great! Nice video! Love my Levo. It’s all I ride and everyday is a “good” day on the Levo even though I may not have ridden for a while or something hurts (I’m 55). I track my heart rate and im in the exertion zone, so I’m getting a good workout. I have so much fun riding it, it just doesn’t feel like a workout which is the best kind! Makes me want to ride more. Sure it’s not the same as a regular bike, but I’m not training for a race. I want fun and exercise and the ebike is the best of both to me. And I don’t have to load up a dirt bike and drive 5 hours to great trails. I have great trails right down the road from where I live.
Just grab the chainring itself and rotate it counterclockwise. No need for anything additional.
Coincidentally, my local trails at Markham Park just started allowing Class 1 Pedal Assisted e-MTBs this week. I know a lot of people that will be in the market for an e-bike like this in the upcoming year.
Just bought my wife the Orbea Rise while I waited for Ibis to drop this bike! I love my Ripley and Ripmo, so I have high hopes for this bike.
the first corner where you smiled :))
In my 40s now and after 4 knee surgeries iv been thinking about going eBike for my next rig. Think the new Oso is pretty dope actually.
I'm 45 with knee and hernia surgeries. I ride a regular bike. Definitely not old and frail enough for an E-bike. Train more if you need to, don't be lazy mate 😉
A tip for chain cleaning/lubing. Take a 6 to 8 inch length of double sided hook and loop (velcro tm) strip and pass it behind a chain ring spider arm then spin the crankarm around so that you can wrap the crankarm with the velcro thus locking the crankarm to the chainring spider and you will be able to spin the chain backwards.
I put a short 5mm hex in one of the chainring bolt holes…rotate the crank backwards until it hits!
Ha, with my SC Bullit I keep smashing the BB too. I think it has to be something to do with the mismatched wheels, I just feel like my bb is too low. Great ride though! I really like that Ibis and love DW link bikes. Will definitely be watching to see how you like the whip in new videos!!
Im going to stick with wanting a 37lb Orbea Rise which is also 5K. Ibis 11k is Yeti dentist pricing
The Orbea Rise is a great bike but don’t believe the weights. My H15 is 46lbs. Most are around 2lb heavier than advertised. That 37lb option would be the most expensive carbon version.
@@Roaming50 my friends is 37 and added weight
I'm good with my Trek 4300 mountain bike and I have like more than 1k miles tracked on that bike and it's been my baby ever since!
Really nice looking bike! love the lines and the suspension layout is quite clean. Those lights are very good,I don´t know why all ebikes do not have lights like this bike,I always carry small one´s in all my bikes and only take out them in the bike park. Only downside is the noisy Bosch motor.
Tip: take a hex key and insert (wrapped with a paper towel) into one of the open slots on your chainring. Reverse the crankarm to meet the wrench and then you can spin 'backwards' to lube your chain and such.
To hell with the haters. I'm definitely getting an e-bike by next summer👍🏿
Also that was great what Brian said about how bikes are leaving some of us broke but he's right. They are making us healthier.
I’m just glad another manufacturer is building one that means a more competitive market. Which will make the price points go down. Really want to add one to the stable but that price is too high as of now.
ooof at 11k usd the value is not here at all
Nice bike, I just recently started to look around for a good but cheap ish e-mtb. It would be cool to see you out in Simi Valley again on some steep loose and rocky sections.
Brian, come ride that thing with me at SoMo. They love e bikes here on my home trails! National on repeat!
Ebikes are the future, particularly the light ebikes that have been coming out.
At 62 I love my ebike can ride up hills again that were getting just a bit to hard and ride more trails.Still have a hardtail though which I love
Signs of being older: you has an ebike in the basement. :D
Ibis is an awesome company and I'm stoked to see them come out with an ebike.
They and Santa Cruz just entered the market apparently. It's here to stay.
@@dudeonbike800 Santa Cruz has had ebikes for a couple years now. And they're a WAY bigger company. I didn't think it would ever happen with Ibis.
@@LoamReaper Good to know! Guess I haven't encountered any up 'till now. Thx.
That really is a clean looking bike. The linkage in back is lil strange but sure it's plush
I've had an Orbea Wild FS for 2 yrs now. Luckily all of TN is "inclusive". I now ride 2-5x more miles per trip and definitely more elevation. And I can keep up with groups now.
When I demoed an e-bike i loved the uphill aid of course but the downhill was just no fun. with the bike being so heavy i wasnt able to ride playfully down the tech and trail features. And I only used 3% battery!! I would love to be on a 35lb ebike haha. lighter motor and wayyyyy less battery capacity for me. Glad you finally got one though. This should help showcase some amazing adventures on that.
Just use an alen key in the chainring to move it with your crancks when you padle backwards to apply lube
Just don't forget to remove it before a ride :D
Also I love Tour+ and eMTB modes..they feel like you ride a normal bike, just easier
"they feel like you ride a normal bike, just easier"
Yolo..
Welcome to the Party Bus.
That swing arm screams "Cannondale Super V!"
Teocalli, RFBD loop, Dr Park. Ebike is a game changer in Crested Butte/Gunnison.
This video probably pissed off a lot of die hards and Karen's. hahahahhaa. Great video!
Whaaa? BKXC, ebike? Love it.
Cadence is important on ebikes. Higher cadence makes the motor run more efficient and battery last longer.
Nice bike! I run about 18psi on my ebike. Take advantage of the powered side of efficiency.
Ebikes are definitely revelitionizing the sport and making it more accessible.
With that said these bikes as well as non ebikes are getting rediculously overpriced.
Beautiful bike. Wish I could afford one.
I just got a Ripley AF about a month ago and its a great bike. The Oso is absolutely a beautiful piece of engineering and very unique looking. Makes me proud to own an Ibis. On a more serious note, I I really wondering why anyone would care or even report someone riding a e-bike on a trail that doesn't allow them. Like what good would that do and who benefits from it. Let people ride what they want to ride.
@BKXC - It seemed like the battery drained much quicker than I would have expected...how does this compare to something like the Tubro Levo?
Welcome to the revolution brother!!!! I welcome those traditional cyclists who want to stay pure to their pedal power, but I'm too old with too many surgeries and without enough time to train like an olympian. I have a home made ebike hardtail with the TSDZ2 mid drive kit and love it. Have over 3500miles and going strong, ride on!!
One of these will definitely be in my garage at some point in the future. Maybe for my 50th bday in 8yrs. By then the tech should be dialed and the price within reason. 11k is just absurd.
On a side note I'm riding Kanuga for the first time this weekend and I'm seriously considering an ebike rental. Endless laps does sound fun!
