Ibis Oso Vs. Santa Cruz Heckler eMTB Comparison!

- We put the new Ibis Oso to the test by comparing it to the tried and tested Santa Cruz Heckler. Over a series of test rides, we found that the Oso stacks up as a worthy competitor, and that both bikes exceed expectations on adventure-style rides.
The Heckler sits at 150mm rear travel while the Oso has 155mm, and each bike rolls on 29in wheels. Both rigs sit in the low 50lb range, placing them in the middle of the industry’s standard.
While they may seem similar on paper, there are a handful of key differences. The Oso is powered by the Bosch Performance Line XC drive system, while the Heckler sports Shimano’s EP8 system. Both units performed without any issues, and the Oso’s battery indicator with battery percentage is a nice touch. The Heckler’s standard 5-bar battery indicator still certainly gets the job done.
Our favorite part about this pair of bikes is that they let us explore deeper into the mountains than we normally would. If you’re considering joining the eMTB club, we couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Love the Oso's single stay design
Mean and Clean
It's quite nice to look at👀
Fun on the way up and on the way down! ⚡⚡
So planted 🌲
Did I miss the end battery on the heckler?
What eye pieces are y’all wearing in this dual??
Definitely thought "walk mode" was a joke and will use that next time I'm hike-a-biking 🙃
It's really nice, and can vary in speed based on the gear you're in!
What’s up with the oso rear brake routing issues?
What mode were you on the entire ride and how much battery left at the end? Considering the battery capacities for each bike respectively, the Oso should have more reserves! Anyways, the Ibis looks awesome but only one build which doesn’t justify the huge price!
They were both in Turbo / Boost almost the entire time, except for when Ian had to put it in walk mode to get up the hill during the race 🤣
The Oso had 55% left and the Heckler was showing 3/5 bars left. Our assumption is that both bikes were sitting around half a battery left!
Ride was ~9 miles and roughly 2600ft of elevation gain.
@@backcountry So they could easily hit around 18 miles in Turbo/boost mode and the double in Trail/Emtb! Nice!
Next video, a dual crown Oso?
You must have felt a difference in power on the climbs between the two bikes as the Bosh is always seen as being hands down the stronger of the two ….. what did you feel ???
Which bike wins the lamest shade of sea foam green color way competition?
What ski area is that?
I think they are at Solitude but not positive. Can anyone confirm?
I’ll take 1 of each please😂
