Update! This shows the actual wire that I found broken because on 5th May 2022 it happened again! So I had to repair that same wire AGAIN! 😂 ua-cam.com/users/shortsUjUFALD84wM
Have a problem, my drum want spin.. When i take the belt off.. The motor spins, put it back and the drum spinned with no load, covered everything and it doesn't spin again.
If that was my machine I would suspect that the carbon brushes (or one of them), are not making good contact with the commutator and/or the commutator is worn-out (unlikely) or the gaps between the copper segments of the commutator are dirty. Encountering an electric motor that will spin when not under load is not uncommon. Note: If the machine has a brushless motor then I have no idea how to pinpoint the problem other than swap-out the motor for a known good one.
I've watched your video and I've been getting the same problem. But on spin only the spin is working .
Can you explain the problem in detail. You say that, "on spin only the spin is working" which to me means that all is ok because the machine is spinning the drum when the spin function is selected...
@HowToBloke The washing machine was working fine till it started jumping around . which then the door wouldn't open. So had to release door with manual release. After that put in clothes for next wash door locked it filled up but wouldn't wash. So to empty drum I put setting on empty and spin and it spun but wouldn't open door again. So had to repeat as before... Did a check on the motor and bushes are in very good condition. Thanks
Disclaimer: I'm not offering professional household appliance repair advice here but simply outlining a few things that I would be checking if it were happening to my machine as a DIY homeowner. So, on some machines the door will not open if it detects that there is still water inside. I would check that the filter is clear and that the drain hose is not kinked. If the machine jumps around when loaded it usually means (in my experience) that the drum is trying to spin when the clothes are still too wet. Some machines (my current machine, for example) have a knock sensor which detects an unbalanced load and stops the spin and the clothes come out wet when the program concludes! The door lock mechanism is time sensitive - for example, on my machine until 180 seconds have expired after the wash is finished, the door stays locked. If the door still won't open and the machine is proven to be empty of water, I would suspect a faulty sensor switch or logic board and if that happened to me I would unplug the machine and leave unplugged for an hour or so and then try and run a simple program with the drum EMPTY. On some machines with a digital display it will show an error code, which, when searched upon together with the make and model of the washing machine, should produce some results about how to go about clearing the fault. The owners manual may shed some light on the issue too.
great vid, did you have to replace the wiring loom as a hole? how to did you replace the wires? did you have to follow it all the way down to where ever it comes out, also any soldering?
The wire was made of solid iron not strands and had snapped inside its own insulation. I didn't need to test the whole loom. I fixed the wire with a simple plastic electric block connector (looks a bit like a lego brick) and insulating tape but perhaps I should have soldered it. That same wire broke again, months later, in much the same place. Thanks for watching #HowToBloke 👍
Machine did not finish the wash one of the brushes was complexly worn would it at least not hum or spark? My drain pump turns on.
Maybe, maybe not. Mine did make an unusual fizzing whining noise for just 5 minutes or so, then it simply stopped during a wash. Have a look at my video sequel about brushes here ua-cam.com/video/g7KCNczFyRI/v-deo.html Thanks for watching #HowToBloke 👍
very good video thanks mate
No problem 👍
Great - sved my wife buying another machine (she does nto give me much time to repair things). When I saw the video I thought "roken wire, not much chance of that" - until I saw the broken wire on my machine - broke at a plug - clearly the wire had been damaged whhen the machine was made as the insulation was clean cut. So I also cleaned the motor as best I could (this cheap junk doesn't come apart) checked brishes and back workign again. Thanks for this videao, I had seen some others but they didn't go into detaila and were more about buying a whole motor or a board, so I wonder how many people buy a part only to find it does not work because of a broken wire?
Glad you fixed it yourself and thanks for watching #HowToBloke 👍
Great video to help thankiyou very much
Thank YOU so much for watching #HowToBloke 👍 Glad you've got it sorted! 😀
Thankiyou so much very apricieted..I checked my washing machine motor is not working..I am going to by new one..
Thanks for the tips!
No problem.
So all it took was some brushing and it worked ok?
The carbon brushes were ok, still usable with plenty of meat still left on them. This is what really caused the issue ua-cam.com/video/FoRJKxmkcrc/v-deo.html
and this short video when the same fault happened (again; on the same washing machine) ua-cam.com/video/UjUFALD84wM/v-deo.html Thanks for watching #HowToBloke 👍
très bien 👍🏻
Merci bien 👍
Very good video..I have the same issue..but when selected spin it turns..so I'm bit.confused..
Thanks for watching #HowToBloke 👍 If that same issue happened to me, what I would try is to completely disconnect my washing machine from the electricity supply and leave it overnight. Then, the following morning, try again, and use a completely different washing program.
I have the same issue..spin mode working drum rotating but rapid 15 not working
What if you have these exact symptoms and a brushless motor?
Apparently, brushless motors offer greater reliability because they have less moving parts, so if I had the exact same symptoms and a brushless motor I would still be looking for a broken/detached cable in the first instance. Thanks for watching #HowToBloke 👍
Hey mate my washing machines drum only spins forwards and backwards slightly when pushing with my hands but won't spin any other time, was yours the same?
On my washing machine, with the power switched off and the front-loading door open, I could still rotate my drum 360 degrees forwards or backwards manually (for example; as one might do after a wash had finished to double-check for small garments that might still be left in the drum). But when my washing machine was switched on with the front-loading door closed and a washing program started, the drum wouldn't turn at all regardless of which washing program I had chosen.
Nice video but you forgot to sand the rotor with sand paper mate
Great point, but the copper surface of the commutator wasn't scorched, scored or pitted, so I didn't bother. Thanks for watching #HowToBloke 👍
If a DEFY 600 front loader spinning and move allover the floor wat can be the problem
Thanks for watching #HowToBloke 👍
Well, if that was happening to my machine I would be 1) if the washing machine is brand-new, checking if the in-transit shipping bolts have been removed (on a front loader, these bolts stabilise the drum whilst it’s being shipped). And, 2) investigating the possibility that one of the suspension springs that holds the drum in position had broken or the washing machine shock absorber(s) is defective in some way. Or, 3) the counterweight (usually made of concrete) has become detached. Or, 4) one of the legs is broken, missing, or maladjusted, or the floor is not level.
Camara pls focus on the machine
