  • Job Willins' Paradise combines Prometheus and Alien: Covenant into one 2.5 hour David-centric narrative. Is this the best fan edit ever?

I was amazed to see what Job accomplished with Paradise. He fixed most of the mistakes in the movies, and brought the story up to a whole new level! I was so dissapointed when I watched the movies at the theatres, but I loved the atmosphere and the style in the movies... and now, this top notch work of a fanedit fixed it! Watching this fanedit was a great experience, and I thought I would never say this about Prometheus and Covenant... brilliant movie, 'Paradise'.

Couldn’t have said it better! But, it also ruined a lot of my experience with fan-edits, because I wanted the same sort of transformative experience I got with this!

@@order42show yes, this is possibly the greatest overhaul I have experienced with a Fanedit. If you allow me, let me suggest some fanedits that, even if they don't make these big changes, are greatly enjoyable and also a terrific work from the editors: Raiders of the Lost Skull, Temple of Doom Willie Scott edit, Bond's Revenge, Return of the King Feanor edition, Rise of the Rebellion, Force Awakens Restructured and of course Star Wars Revisited.

Sounds like an interesting idea to combine both films as I found David to be the most engaging part of both films.

I’d definitely say it’s worth the look, and Mr Wilkins makes it easy to get, too!

I watched it and gotta say talk about streamlining things, and making you realize some things in Prometheus weren't truly needed.
I'm a fan of Prometheus, not so much with Covenant, though I really dug this cut.
What I loved is how Willins used the extended opening act of Covenant and cut it to three pieces as markers to reveal what David truly is and his thoughts about humanity. I was floored.
Also appreciated that he brought more stuff with Shaw from the cut scenes since it made her more human and truly became a gut punch when we see her demise.
The ending were he sends that message back to Weyland was chilling, I just think why did Ridley of Fox cut that out.
For me, this will be the cut that show to my friends when they want to watch the Prequels.

Beatles crap takes one out of the experience and reminds you it's an over indulgent fanedit. Easily fixed through sound editing. I would also add in the translated early draft dialog when the Engineer retorts to Shaw "Hate? Don't speak to me about hate.." but shorten and make more vague the Space Jesus lecture. I don't see the Engineers as God, but rather as a fallen angelic race like the kind in The Book Of Enoch (and Genesis 6's Nephilim). False gods/titans.

Those critiques are warranted, but I still feel that it’s a better effort than what the original stories offered. But more than that - I just really enjoyed taking those movies and sort of showing them through a different lens, transforming it into something new.
I agree with you about the engineers. They’re arrogant - and I like that about them as characters.

    This the best Alien movie.

      It certainly streamlines the story!

But we really need a movie or book (Audio drama) to connect the story to Alien.

    • @order42show
      @order42show  2 місяці тому

That’d be interesting! I honestly think that after Covenant, whoever’s in charge of it has basically moved on, hence Alien: Romulus coming out in a few months. But who knows? Maybe a fan will put together something!

@@order42show Lets hope its Ridley himself that will connect the dots. We need to know what happened to David.
Did you know that the black goo/ spores/ Infection idea came from from William Gibson (Alien3) screenplay.

Actually…I was reading the first draft of the original Alien, and it sounded a lot like that! I wonder if Gibson got it from that!
