You DO NOT get a rail to mount a light on a 43X. You have to purchase the 43X MOS to get that rail. The 43x also does NOT come with an optic cut slide. Thats the 43X MOS.

Heheh just a PSA: the PSA micro dagger mags fit perfectly in the 43x and hold 15rds. Unlike the shield arms, you don't have to swap the mag release for it to work properly/long term. It's polymer. 🤝

Just got two of them a week ago. They’re hard as hell to send home in my G48 MOS on a closed slide, and super stiff to load up with the last two rounds, even with a mag loader. I’m wondering if that is typical with the PSA mags.

    • @zaczar4338

@@kobudo you haven't put enough rounds through them yet. Remember, we're fitting double stack in a single stack gun (sacrifice). It took about 500 rounds before they were able to load/reload with easily for me. I did also take them apart and put a little bit of oil on the walls inside. Helps a good bit. I've gotten both of my EDC ones to the point where they're easy to load. But I still have the same issue you're having with my "range" spares.

Mis-feeds and whatnot. Good for the range 43x that the kids and wife shoot, but not my EDC one. I specifically use the micro dagger slick mags since they combine poly and steel in the best way. Haven't had a jam since I got them (~2k rds). Again, this is from my own experience. A few thoughts... 1) The trigger shoe is a holdover from the 80's. Easy/cheap fix: Johnny Glock modified OEM smooth face trigger shoe. He carves down the dingus and installs a pre-travel reduction set screw to eliminate the take-up slop. $22 if you use your old trigger bar. When you take out the slop you make more room in the trigger guard for finger insertion. 2) PSA micro dagger 15 round mags. Reliable and you don't have to change the mag catch out to steel and you can still use your OEM mags. The S15 mags are good in most 43x's but you have to change out the catch so limits the use of OEM mags for emergencies. 3) Talon grips will help get a better grip without changing the handle profile. If you put them on carefully you won't even realize that it didn't feel that way out of the box. 4) Trigger guard undercut. While most people who do an undercut just do one horizontally, recommend you do one as a contour, sloping up toward the right side of the 43x which will better match the way the finger angles into the trigger guard and allows a higher grip on the pistol.

Talon grips make a juge difference. I have a 48, really like it. For a while I found myself using my old G43 slide on it. Then I decided to mod the old G43 with the new Shield Z9 mags and this has transformed the old 43 into such a great super small and light 9mm that I am carrying it almost all of the time. Also the 3rd trigger I've tried out in these thin Glocks is a GlockStore trigger. It turns out to be the best trigger I've yet to try- surprisingly excellent.

To get the capacity that Glock's competition is already at, I don't want to rely on 3rd party mags that may or may not work perfectly when my life depends on it. Took a month, but finally got the axis elite delivered. And added the green dot EPS carry and a TLR 7sub. A great CCW package. I like carrying this more than the heavy and thick m&p 2.0.

Never had a single malfunction with the aftermarket mags and have had mine for 3+ years now with the gen 2 shield arms mags specifically & with their metal mag release. I don't think you have anything to worry about. My only complaint is the recoil is kinda snappy. The 43x is a decent carry gun as it is. I'll never understand why anyone carrying it for delf defense adds the junk to it. Light, red dot, comp. That's all fine for competition shooting. Self defense is just about always going to be up close and personal. Keep the gun as light as possible. With a self defense situation you most likely wont have time to red dot. A light gives away your location. A comp helps you keep on target but in a self defense situation a little discipline will help with that. Damn folks.

Aftermarket 15 round magazines for the G43x is to expensive for me, when the G19 comes with three 15 round magazines, and I can buy larger OEM and 10 round magazines that are far cheaper then G43x Shield mags. I used to carry 1911s, I remember the huge debate on carrying 1911s vs G19. The G19 was cheaper, OEM high capacity mags, and lighter, but the 1911 was slimmer. It seems the G43x is a step backwards on the grounds of lack of OEM high capacity mags and doesn't use the standard Glock mags.

Glock 43X because #1 Glock. #2 it was the perfect happy medium for me and my 4’ 11” 110lb wife to carry the same piece. If we are out and about together I have access to 4 mags minimum because we each carry a spare on person. Keep another spare in each of our vehicles and each of our back packs (hers is typically the diaper bag and mine is typically my work bag). So if we go shopping with the kids we’ll have both backpacks in the vehicle so we have 7 mags in the vehicle. If my gun fails or I forget mine I’m not going from a Glock 19 to a Ruger LCP. If she forgets her and I ended going down for the count she can pick up mine and it’s the same gun she’s been training with. Understanding various manual of arms is important but we aren’t able to get to the range weekly and shoot a few hundred rounds. We are getting there 6-8 times a year. Instead of us training with our primary gun and then a couple of mags with the others just so we are familiar, 100% of our training is with each others gun. I’d be carrying a 19 otherwise so it’s not like I’m sacrificing capacity to go down to her size gun (shield arms mags.) She carry’s in a very feminine looking, not obnoxiously large belt bag so she’s not carrying some big tactical looking fanny pack to be able to carry a Glock 19.

I think I'll stick with my original Hellcat with the OEM 11, 13 & 15 round mags. It's super compact, better sights, grip texture, trigger & shoots as reliable as any of my other Glocks. I was turned off by a very early model Sig 365 that was still had problems after 2 trips in for warranty work. I have nothing against the 43X. Glock is a very good platform.

I do not like the 43x. I have not tried the 48. If I was gonna put as much money into a 43x as you did that one I think I'd just buy a P365 Xmacro with the slide comp. I shot one of those and it was alright. I carry a G19 with an RMR RM06, Glock Performance Trigger, TLR1-HL, talon grip skate board tape type grip tape, and that's it.
The 43x is super snappy without a comp, has very little grip texture, super short sight radius with irons, and only 10 round mags. Yeah, 15 round mags exist but some people have had issues with those so they're not quite as reliable/dependable as OEM Glock mags which are basically 100% reliable.
I dunno, I just carry a G19. I think its plenty small but far more shootable. I'd really like to get a Radian ramjet+afterburner but they're hard to find in stock. I just like the idea of a comp that doesn't require rocksett/red locktite/shims/whatever. Not that I'm totally opposed to a traditional comp but they kinda sound like a pain in the ass considering sometimes you gotta dick around with your springs and stuff. i've never comp'd a Glock but it is something I've been considering lately cuz it seems like it would be fun.
EDIT: Considering you manufacture compensators for pistols--I'd like to make a request. Please start manufacturing compensators for Canik. Specifically I'd love if you made one for the TP9SFX Rival. The polymer one. Is that something you would do as a custom item?

    • @armorers_wrench

@@byronh77 I love my G19. I have a G45, G19, G17, G43x, G42, G23, G21(it's an old school gen 2, pre-1994 AWB too, more of a collectors item than anything at this point but its cool) and the G19 is my favorite of all of them. My current G19 is a Gen 5 MOS version and I have had zero issues with the gun itself. It did have to make a trip back to Glock because it got knocked off the bench onto the ground at an outdoor range and I experienced an MOS plate failure. A screw that mounts the plate to the slide sheared and when it sheared it sheared flush with the slide. I couldn't get the screw out. I looked online and several people suggested taking it to a tool and die shop thinking they'd be able to get it out. Well, funny enough, I work in a tool and die shop. So when i say I couldn't get the screw out, I couldn't get it out. We tried a few tricks that work on larger fasteners but the screw was just too small to get out without the risk of damaging the threads on the slide. So, it had to go to Glock. Took about 4 weeks but by the time this occurred I already had like 8,000 rounds through the gun. So, when you send a gun to Glock they replace most of the internals for you. I got a new extractor, new slide release, all new springs, basically everything except the barrel and my trigger got replaced. So yeah, that was nice of them.
Now I'm using a Forward Controls MOS plate that's made of 4140 steel. It's a quality piece of steel. However, I will say the plate had A LOT of machine marks. It doesn't effect the optic but imo its pretty unprofessional to send out such an expensive plate with so many marks from the mill. Those can be removed, I do it all the time. I don't know if every plate is like that or just the one I got but its something to be aware of. If I ever need another MOS plate I think I'll just fabricate my own.
I hope they see my comment and start making Canik compensators because the Canik Rival is one helluva pistol and it would be extremely fun with a comp. If they don't, I think I'm going to buy another barrel for my Rival and mill some ports into the barrel. I just have to figure out how I want to put the barrel in the vice so it stays steady during the machine operations. I'm gonna try to consult with an actual gunsmith before I try this.

A lot of good points in the comments. Best way to put it is (in my opinion) that the Glock 43/43x is like a Honda civic. It’s a tiny vehicle that’s affordable, reliable, upgradable and people just like them for what it is. You make it your own. Then you got the 19, which is like an Accord, a little bigger, faster, a bit roomier. Of course anyone can get an Sig or what have you, it’s got everything you need out of the box, it already has its upgrades, reliable etc. People want to put their own spin on it and make it there’s. I hope that made sense. Enough of my yapping. I have a 43x for carry and a 19 for combat shooting. Both do their jobs well. That’s just my input.

A few helpful additions. The G43x MOS has a small rail but the 43X does NOT and they do not use the same holster reverse order. Several optics like the Vortex CCW bolt directly on without a plate which is essential in being able to cowitness the stock irons or a regular height iron set. The compensator does absolutely nothing or so little it can't be reliably felt or measured in my opinion and the stock barrels are incredibly accurate. At the most a good connector might improve trigger but I would also recommend leaving these completely stock. PSA and Shield make 15 round mags which is a huge thing when we sell them. The Hogue grip add-on helps these fill the hand more like a G19 but still carry very slim. We host a GSSF match and I can shoot a 500 in carry optics on demand practically but I carry this all day at work because it totes so well. I agree great gun, we sell them as fast as they come in. Oddly enough almost all employees and instructors here carry Glock when we can buy anything at cost. Our rental pool of Glocks are tortured and keep on ticking. Leave stock sights on and install the direct optics for this footprint and you have an optic carry gun in the 750$ dollar price range ready to rock

This platfrom is amazing. I own 3 and shot USPSA with it. Well over 8k rounds through this platform. Just some tips.
    -
    1) that is the MOS version. You can have the rear MOS bumps removed and your holosun becomes direct mount for an even lower optic placement.
    -
    2) A $15 Ghost connector will seriously take that platform to the next level.
    -
    3) You can get a modified by johnny glocks OEM adjustable trigger for just $22.
    -
    4) SA mags work, they just need a quick break in period (load and offload mags 2 times) and shorter maintenance period (750 rounds, swap the magazine spring out. SA has a free spring swap program. Just send it in, they'll send you fresh ones back.)
    -
    5) You can stipple this platform (and all glocks) very easily. Watch some vids and try it.
    -
    6) Train how you fight.

I really dont understand why people complain about GLocks or any other gun. The 43X is competitively priced, the PSA mags give you 15 rounds reliably in a flush mag. They don’t have the best trigger compared to some other guns but they are fine for carry and can be improved cheaply if that’s what you feel you need to do. They are also reasonably priced, I only paid $350 for mine brand new. The only thing i ever change on Glocks is the sights which I do think should be better from the factory than they are. Not a fan of the rear sight mainly but i also want night sights on any gun i carry. There are other guns just as good like the Canik MC9, the S&W Shield Plus, but they all have pros and cons. At the end of the day it’s about personal preference. Of all the guns I own I shoot the Glock 19 the best and the 43X second best. That includes guns with much better triggers, better factory sights, etc. So carry what you like, what you shoot well and dont worry about other people.

I don't need all that tactacool kid mallninja crap, like a dot/light on my pistol! Dots offer no advantage over iron sights at combat distances! When It's illegal to point a postol at someone, you can't shine a light on them attached to the barrel of a pistol! So you need a hand light! The 26 might be fatter, but that don't mean it don't coceal better! The part of the pistol, that's hardest to conceal, is the part of the grip with the lanyard hole. With the grip extensions on the 26,Iget my pinky on the grip & the area with the lanyard hole is gone, so it conceals better! The 26 aceppts mags from the 19,17, & a happy stick, try that with a 43X. Since my 26 is gen 3 it has finger groves, which the 43X lacks. I find it hard to replace the G26 with any thing new on the market!
