I'm sorry you got injured, but I'm glad you got the surgery because that should help. I hope you feel better soon and I hope that the pain isn't too bad! 💕🐍
Magical Miranda Thank you so much, that is so sweet of you! I'm already feeling a lot better than I did a couple of days ago! Can't wait to make more videos🐍💞🎬
Jossers Jungle I'm glad you're doing better and I can't wait to see more videos! Your videos always make my day, no matter how hard it's been. Thank you
Also I think sheds are absolutely stunning! :-) In 4th grade, my science teacher had a ginormous shed! It was probably more than 10 feet and she hung it on her wall. You could see all the markings and they were gorgeous!
Thank you so much for this! I'm getting a ball python soon and I've been having issues finding info on shedding. Also, congrats on reaching 100 subscribers! I subbed about a week ago, and can't wait to see more of your channel!
Grace Marie216 Thank you so much, I'm glad to have you onboard and overjoyed you find use of my videos! Good luck with your new ball python, they are amazing creatures!
Hi Joss! I wanted to leave a comment saying thank you! I've watched your videos since before I was married and my husband and I got a snake and you've walked me through so much with her. When she first got home we upgraded her case to 20lb from maybe 10lb. We should have given her time o adjust but so happy to have her we ended up stressing her out. Her sheds were terrible too and took over a week to come off her face... but Today we found her on her greenery scratching and saw a nearly full shed in her case!! I'm so happy you're a UA-camr, everything I've walked my husband through doing (I'm pregnant so my maternal instincts actually have me a little nervous to hold our pretty baby) has definitely improved her health! My favorite suggestion is the hydrometer (gyrometer?) . I used to think if it looked humid it was, but the humidity almost never changes. It was eye opening really and got me looking into her case every day. Even when I'm too tired to stand up hehe.... so thanks Joss!! Fern is so happy today her shed came off a foot long!
I love your videos!! You have inspired me to get my own baby ball python! She is the cutest thing ever! Along with getting her I got my parents to agree on buying her with your Ball python videos! Thank you so much! Also, this video is super helpful because she is going through her first shed right now.
My royal python Ezron (only had him a week) is very nice and gentle. He is almost done his shed but I tried to handle him and got a light hiss. Not aggressive but just letting me know "hey, I'm uncomfortable right now please leave me alone." so my question is: has this happened to you before and do you handle your snakes while they are in shed?
Hi Terrance! Great question! I usually don't handle my snakes when they are in shed, unless I have a good reason for it. They can get a little grumpy and I'm guessing it's slightly uncomfortable going through a shed. I haven't experienced any direct aggressive behaviour in my snakes. My best advice would be to leave them alone until they are done shedding :-)
Jossers Jungle I will definitely keep that in mind! Keep doing what you do I love your videos! I have a few pictures of my royal python, Ezron, on my Instagram if you would like to give me a follow?! create_hippie_creation!
Thank you so much for the information my ball python sam just went through his first shed since ive had him and it went great me and my snake appreciate your help.
I love watching your vedios i have two snakes as well and they are great animals both of my snakes mean alot to me and i treat them as my kids and i hope u get well very well
Wendy Sanchez Thank you so much, I'm really glad to hear you like the videos! Snakes are really amazing creatures, and you sound like a really great owner for them! :-)
My hatchling sobas first shed was in multiple pieces, so i only kept the head shed. Hopefully this time she will do a single shed! (she just entered shed yesterday) I was amazed that the pattern was on the shed too!
Snake skins are really good for hermit crabs, so I've been saving and giving them to a friend of mine who has a bunch. My snake is a rescue who had been exclusively having small piece sheds and with me has only had sheds in one big piece. I'm very proud of how well she's doing now. I might keep the next one though!
The snake will get the shed of by itself. There is no need to peel it off, unless it is a bad shed and it already tried to get it off by itself, then something can be stuck and you will have to give a hand. But a healthy snake kept in a proper setup will have no trouble shedding it all of in one big beautiful piece. You will mostly have to unroll it yourself after the snake gets it off, by sometimes they also do leave an unrolled shed for you to just take out :-)
My boa had shedding problems in a exo terra because of the ventilation the humidity stayed really low, so to stop that i put glass on the ventilation everytime she is going in shed so that the humidity Stays high. This worked really well for me.
3:40 the biggest spider in the world starts moving in the background and i suddenly got distracted and clammy. But i love your channel and your videos, i'm gathering all the info i can before hopefully getting a royal or a bci in the near future.
Good vid ! :) thanks a lot for info. I have one more question about holding. I fed the snake in Monday and my q is - when I can take it in my hands again ? Thank you :)
"Almost all snakes will refuse eating while in shed". Nope, not my 7 y/o corn snake. His eyes turned blue, then white, looked like a blind person, then he "turned" back to normal (no more weird looking eyes), I fed him, and the next morning I found a fresh, perfect shed. He's a happy snake :)
I have a baby ball python and he shed twice, both times that he’s shed it’s been in little pieces all over the cage and his head has never stoped shedding. I’m really scared that his humidity is low in his glass terrarium so I moved his bowl onto his heating pad and changed where his hide went(witch is no longer over the heating pad) and I put a towel over the humid side of his terrarium. I also want to use a humidity box when he sheds and I just wanted to know if all of these changes will work and be good for my snake. Thank you so much you have really helped me feel more confident with the health of my snake. 😊
I got a new corn snake about a week and a half ago and I was letting him settle in and just 2 days before I was going to try and hold him he started his blue phase :/ its just part of the process. I can say that patience is key in keeping snakes.
My redtail boa shed in one big piece eye caps and all every single time in the 6 yrs I've had her. With my BP its different. She has shed once since ive had her and her shed came off in a few large pieces. Im not used to that and am worried something is off.
So my Amazon tree boa is about to shed, dull colour and bluish eyes. Just wondering if it's common for them to hide for a couple of days, he has been in his hide for soon 3 days? The humidity is fine, and I can see he has been changing positions. For how long is it common for them to hide in the same spot while in shedding? Thanks for an awsome channel.
Sorry to hear about your injury ! Hope you are doing better. In regards to shedding, do their eyes stay blue the entire time in their in shed ? I have a 6 month old Mexican Black king Snake and her eyes were blue yesterday but not blue today her skin does look a little blue-ish and I can’t find a shed sooo I’m a little concerned for her
My new retic (had since july) gets super inactive while going into shed. I get so paranoid that something is wrong. Seems like she is shedding too often but I guess it's cuz she's growing like crazy! She is super gentle and lets me reach in and pet her while she's sitting there all depressed lookin.
how do you keep a journal on your snakes? like what does it look like, what do you write down and all, I'm so confused? I want to collect as much information as I possibly can before getting my first snake and I really like the idea of keeping a journal on things like shedding and feeding and such but I don't know how to.
Humidity is only partly the issue. Hydration is also very important. It has been shown that tropical snakes absorb a significant amount of moisture from the atmosphere, whereas dersert dwellers do not. It isn’t true that the pattern is always visible on the shed: this depends on the species. It is very important to check that both eyecap scales have shed: if one or both has been retained, these need ro be removed, and if you have not done this, it is best to get help from a vet. The tail is also important: if the skin is retained here, the snake can end up losing part of its tail due to loss of blood supply.
Thank you so much I have a ball python that just went into shed and is under her tree that she has to climb on is it normal for her to stay in one spot for multiple days?
Hi jossersjungle I have two ball python one female and one male the female is 8 months old and the male is 4 months old when she sheds she still feeds very well but when he sheds he did feed but this time he is shedding and this time he doesn't want to feed he is on smalls twice a week on Wednesday and sunday am i doing right these are my first snakes ever thank you cheryl from England
When the snake first start the peeling process ,how long does it usually take before all the skin is off.Considering it was a healthy peel and maybe a smallish snake like a California King snake?
So I have a 2yr Male blood python. Hr sheds faily well but his last shed was incomplete and I've noticed what looks like a hard shell on his tail but I'm not sure if it's normal or a result of an incomplete shed. I've tried removing it but he isn't reacting well to it and I'm not sure this is the right action to take. Even soaking hasn't loosened it up enough to remove it, if it even is removable.
My Ball Python has a reddish color on the tip of the tail. Is this okay? Humidity is usually pretty good and heat is around 90 degrees. He eats 2 rats every two weeks. Most of his sheds come off in one piece.
Hey! I just got a Blue eyed lucy and i’m curious how you can tell when they’re going into shed? I can always tell easily with black eyed snakes but with the blue eyes and white scales it’s hard to see the dullness of the skin or greying of the eyes.
I just found out why my ball's shed comes out all mangled... She sheds in her hide and it gets all cut up because of the in closed space 😂 But it's 2:49 am and she just shed, I was able to grab it before it dried and got all ripped up. It is pretty mangle, obviously, but its the most intact its ever been!!
Just had my very first shed with my very first albino corn snake. It was all in one piece, luckily, even with the head. He wrapped his tail around a plant in the terrarium and slid out of it. I had to unwrap it from the plant to remove it, but it did not even break. Anyway I was very curious to ask.... How exactly do you store The Sheds? My corn snake is a baby so the shed is only about a foot... If that. I just put it in a Ziploc freezer bag for now. 😬🤷🏻♀ I want to make a scrapbook for him and include his sheds as well. But I am not quite sure exactly the best way to store and protect them from the elements over time. Any advice... anyone??? It will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. 🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍
so i have a female sand boa and it is her first time shedding while being with me. but i have this problem about an inch of her tail was easy to remove but when I started to remove the shedd she started to pull her tail away so i stopped, and now she doesn't want me to touch her tail
Your videos have helped me a lot with my first ball python. She ate a couple days before I noticed she was going to shed. She still has not pooped yet, is this normal?
Jossers Jungle, I know this video was made a few months back but I have a question. I got a female pastel ball python a little over a month ago. She has started to shed about six days ago. This is my first time with her shedding, and I guess I'm a little nervous. Like I said, it's been six days and she still hasn't shed her head part. (I guess that's what you would call it. I don't know how else to say it.) I don't know if I'm over-reacting, but I mist her terrarium everyday, and have a big enough water bowl for her to fit in. Do you have any suggestions?
I have a unrelated question that i need help with, I'll be gettin my fist ball python in a few days and im a bit confused as to exactly where to put the thermostat probe. I've been watchin alot of videos about it but it seems that everyone is sayin different stuff, what do you do?
So I have my first snake and he is a baby Darwin python. He is having his 2nd shed but first with me. It looks like there is a lot of shed from his bell to tail but none above, I thought it was weird so I gave him a soak, not for to long, but after the shed was really coming off, but not in one piece, I think maybe it was because I was handling him (I’m not gonna touch him till his done now) and maybe some rips happen. When he was sliding back in to his tank the shed was coming of on my hand on his tail and it came off all in one piece, I have looked at so many videos but nothing similar came up. What do you think this could be? What should I do? (Already misting his enclosure)
My snake is about to go through his second shed and I went to feed him like usual and he didn’t want to eat and he actually hissed at the mouse. PLEASE HELP ME
i've noticed that my ball python's eyes are turning blue and i am so excited! this is going to be my very first shed with him!!
Fingers crossed! :-D
UPDATE: his shed came out ALL IN ONE PIECE!!!! it's long and beautiful and i am SO HAPPY that everything went perfectly!
My snake just went into his first shed with me :)
@@jakkkungzzz congrats!!!
Yeyy!!! Congratulations!
I love your accent.
Thank you so much! :-)
I was just about to comment that
she repeats some words a lot and it’s kinda weird lol
When it comes to shedding, I kept my snake's skins as a record of his growth and in Asian tradition, brings good luck.
Where did you keep it
I'm sorry you got injured, but I'm glad you got the surgery because that should help. I hope you feel better soon and I hope that the pain isn't too bad! 💕🐍

Hi! And thank you so much, I'm so glad to read that! How exciting it is to get a ball python! Good luck with your new amazing snake! :-)
Haha my snake eats every time hes in shed.😂
Interesting. Two of my snakes won't, but the other one will still eat.
My snake doesn't xD He just smells it and turns away.
Oh I hope mine will eat this week! She shed everything over a night ♡ Her first healthy shed out of two sheds since we bought her.
lucky you

Is it ok to be in one piece but some tiny little holes
Yeah. Snakes use rough and pointy objects in their enclosures to rub themselves on. So it's fairly normal for holes to appear because of that.
My milk snake just shedded. I'm so excited!!
When your snake goes into shed are you supposed to peel of the shed? Or does she mean unroll it once it is off the snake?
The snake will get the shed of by itself. Good vid ! :) thanks a lot for info. I have one more question about holding. I fed the snake in Monday and my q is - when I can take it in my hands again ? Thank you :)
Can u turn the shed skin right side out? Just got my first shed today came out in one piece. Super excited about that.
Do you have to keep a shed? Why do you unroll it? How do you dispose of it?
Henry Octopus You can just throw it out :-)

There is a saying here in Philippines, if you put snake skin in wallet, you get luck and more money to come
What is a bluish sheen on the snakes scales but eyes are still black? Is that the earliest stage of shedding?
My snake is shedding right now but this is his first time shedding and his first piece just came off what am I doing wrong??

Do kingsnakes need a certain humidity as a ball python?
I love your videos this helped me a lot because I am getting a ball python soon ❤️🐍
If my snake is soon to shed should i still feed her or will she not eat?
Love this
Sorry to hear about your injury ! Hope you are doing better. In regards to shedding, do their eyes stay blue the entire time in their in shed ? Should I place a humidity box in my ball python's terrarium during shed times or all of the time?
My new retic (had since july) gets super inactive while going into shed. I get so paranoid that something is wrong. Seems like she is shedding too often but I guess it's cuz she's growing like crazy! She is super gentle and lets me reach in and pet her while she's sitting there all depressed lookin.
Get well soon, sweetie-pie 😘🙋♂️
how do you keep a journal on your snakes? like what does it look like, what do you write down and all, I'm so confused? Great vid by the way :D
I got my snake yesterday and now she seems to start shedding.
She got a bit grey eyes and the shed peels off a bit on her head.
Does a corn snake change there color in shedding
I had surgery for a meniscus and ACL tears in both... it's a bitch and I still have arthritis
Cool
What happens when the shed on the head of the of the snake ripped off

how do you control the humidity on your boas
Should you let the snake shed on its own or are you supposed to help it shed?
Always let it shed on it's own :-)
@@JossersJungle OK. ..thank you for answering so quickly 😊
My dekays brown snake is in shes and she eats. She has trouble finding the worms but i help a little and she eats.
how long are snakes compared to their shed? My boa is around 1.5 meters (pushing over 4 feet) her shed was 6 feet long lol
Love your video's!
what are ways to change the humidity?
I've done a video on humidity that might answer your question :-)
ua-cam.com/video/Ib-bcG7zNow/v-deo.html
My snakes eyes went blue and then they went back to clear but he never shead is that normal
Jossers Jungle,
I know this video was made a few months back but I have a question.
I got a female pastel ball python a little over a month ago.
She has started to shed about six days ago.
This is my first time with her shedding, and I guess I'm a little nervous.
Like I said, it's been six days and she still hasn't shed her head part. (I guess that's what you would call it. I don't know how else to say it.)
I don't know if I'm over-reacting, but I mist her terrarium everyday, and have a big enough water bowl for her to fit in.
So if my snake eyes turned cloudy-grey my snake will shed in a week or so?
It almost sounded like you were saying "sh*t" 😁
Was dying the whole time after reading this
😂
Do you have to unroll the shed? Or can you just throw it away if you don’t want it?
Kylie Gilliam Of’course you can

So i got a shed from my friend and its all bunched up and dry,is there a way to remoisten it and untangle it? I want it to be one long piece
