Stevo, please, tell us more stories from the backstage and things you did back then, during world tours, etc. What you particularly remembered, strange events, fuuny occasions, stuff like that. Your charisma really brightens these stories.
I love Screaming Bloody Murder. It might be tied with Does This Look Infected as my favorite Sum 41 album. I wish it got more representation in the band’s live performances, because it really deserves more love.
This is some of the best drum content I've seen on UA-cam in a while, you being an absolute icon makes it all the better, please never stop making these lol.
I remember buying Sum 41's All Killer No Filler in a weird CD vending machine at an airport in 2001. Blew my freaking mind. 23 years later and I can still play it front to back on the drums. It left a huge mark on my musical taste, and I can't thank you enough for being one of the reasons why I still play drums to this day.
Screaming Bloody Murder is my FAVORITE Sum 41 album, IT LITERALLY MADE ME CRY IT WAS SO GOOD. Chuck is my second fav because i like the heavy side of that album.
Hey man, love the channel. Don't mean to have another Sum 41-related request, but I would love if you did a video a bit more on the writing process of the band. It's not like those songs just popped in out of thin air. Would love to know about how Deryck would demo tracks, how would you go in either beforehand or in the studio and work out the drum parts, and generally how songs came to be. In particular, I've always been very curious about Chuck as it seems like the first album that was really written in the studio for the band with lots of instrumentation and arrangements added later. Thanks Stevo!
How cool is it to see these videos and listen to Stevo's comments! Sum 41 lost a lot after you left, bro! I was waiting for your return and I waited! It would be great to hear your comments about the clips where you were the director - Underclass Hero, With Me
Omg, I remember that! (And you’re right, that music video was great with Lemmy!) It was hilarious seeing Sum 41 up against the metal bands. The entire media was horrified and confused! I knew you guys probably had a good laugh at the time - and surely took advantage of the free red carpet SWAG. Speaking of which, you should make a video about best/worst free SWAG you guys ever got at these uppity events! You can also do a best/worst places you’ve stayed as a runner up vid topic. That shit would be fun, lol.
Screaming bloody murder is my favorite Sum 41 album and the band hasn’t been the same since you left. But so glad to see all of these videos you’ve been posting! Good to hear from you, legend!
Wet, wetter, wet with a vengeance! Would love a run through of those old home movies! Or maybe stuff that we as fans have never seen. Thanks for all you do Steve and happy belated birthday!
Hell yeah I remember watching the Grammys that year for you guys and the category was never aired! Also YES, justice for Screaming Bloody Murder! It's probably my favourite Sum 41 album and I wish more of the songs were played live! The old Sum 41 home videos are just gold, I never tire of watching those! Can you please do a reaction video watching some of those eventually?! That would be my one request!
Loving your videos dude, keep them going because I for one will be watching them all. You were always one of my favourite drummers and it’s awesome to see you enjoying playing again! 🤘❤

(Hint hint) Also why was Pain for Pleasure so short? That should have been longer, it was an awesome track! I listened to it over & over until it became unhealthy 😂 So happy to see you back btw!
Your videos are great. You have humor with some great content, and correlating memories that add so much. Did I mention you're a fuckin stellar drummer. Thanks for this and the other songs. Can't wait for more!

I look forward to these every week and was disappointed with one missing last weekend - but alas, they're back! These stories are awesome, and are a nice little look into the backstage / off the stage side of not just Sum41, but many other bands. Thanks for jumping onboard and sharing! Can't wait to see what that famous portrait hidden behind that black curtain is! ...soon.
It's wild that you were nominated for a Grammy for Blood In My Eyes and not any of your other songs. Still incredible that you were, though! What an honor!
Hello brother, greetings from Mexico, I hope you and your family are doing well. Thank you for returning to the public eye, I also play drums and I really appreciate your testimonies and advice you give in interviews about drums. I have always liked your sense of humor and your energy, keep it up. I never miss your videos, I would like you to play on something about 'does this look infected?' Great fucking video dude! Please continue to make these. 20+ year guitar player here trying to be a drummer now. Gwhjahahahah. Sum has always been a huge inspiration. You fucking tear ass on drums gahhh.
Funny enough I learned Reason to Believe on guitar from the SBM record recently. I always loved your drumming on that opening track which was also the opening song played the first time I saw Sum 41 at The Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, BC during 2011 with Billy Talent for a benefit concert. I gave the 41 salute standing on top of chairs not yet destroyed by the chaotic crowd 🤣 (it could've been right after In Too Deep cuz UA-cam shows footage of the performance as Deryck gives the 41 salute after looking in the crowd and I was impossible to miss 😂). After Sum 41's set ended, out of nowhere, someone on the floor shouted, "Has anyone seen a fucking sandal?!" And thus ended another Sum 41 concert hahahaha
Hey stevo, loving the videos and stories! I have been a sum 41 fan my entire life, (i was born around the time sum 41 started as a band, and my dad + older brother got me into you soon as i entered this world). I am not exaggerating when i say that I've had more days in my life where ive heard your music, than days that i have not. I don't know if this is a weird request, but after you've covered the rest of the sums discography, would you consider diving into some of the band's more recent albums post you leaving? Be really interesting to hear you play some of the tracks off the last 3 albums and to hear your opinion on your favourites off of them too. Just a thought! Cheers buddy

"Subject To Change" is strangely my fav. Sum41 Song. That Chuck B Side song that had elements of various sum41 songs in it - most notably: walking disaster. I would like to know more about it and also how it turned into walking disaster laster and why it didnt end up on Chuck itself. esp. since the story i heard is, that the record company just took it from Darricks PC and released it without telling him?
I have just bought my first drum kit in 20 years having not touched one for 10-12 years. I started when i was 10 and am now 36. I know you mentioned you had a similar(ish) period of time off so was wondering if you were a bit lost with where to restart/getting back in to things/having new interests in music/feeling like you lost those years on developing your skills? Would be sweet to get a bit on guidance from a notable drummer that has been through the situation im currently in! Happy to see you making these awesome videos. Been a huge fan of your stuff with Sum41 since Half hour of power.
Good on you! It's sometimes good to take a break and get back into it with a fresh perspective - I can do a video about my experience if people would be into that kind of thing!
Screaming Bloody Murder is probably Sum 41's masterpiece. It didn't get the love it deserved at the time due to the departure from what you guys did previously. It's a darker "All Killer, No Filler" for me.
I have always loved this song. So sick! I would love to echo the sentiment for some fun backstage stories (as much as you’re able to share) I remember reading once about some crazy story involving Avril Lavigne and members of the canadian hardcore band No Warning. I don’t know if you’ve kept up with them over the years but the album Suffer Survive has HUGE sum 41 vibes. If you were to ever play one of those songs in a video I bet it would be pretty coooooool E CA HI!!
Thanks for being such a big inspiration Steve. Two questions: Where’d you get the name “SteveO32” from? Any chance we can see you cover “Confusion and Frustration”?
I saw a comment requesting NOFX, I think that would be a good one. I’m thinking Separation of Church and Skate though. Or Teenage Bottlerocket. Both are fantastic.
Would love to see you play some Rush, Billy Talent, Tragically Hip, and one of the new metal Sum 41 songs...maybe Fake My Own Death and would also be cool to see you play and sing Fat Lip and go into Pain For Pleasure. Maybe mention to why Deryck stopped playing the drums when you guys performed that song.
Hi Stevo can you talk about and maybe perform the song "88"?? I find it super interesting how it mixes punk with one of the heaviest headbangs!! Thank you and much respect from Portugal!!!
SBM got me through some tough times 2012 was such a bad year for me. However I think I did see sum 41 that year at the stone pony. And foo fighters at msg. Both shows were so good.

Another great video. Wish I could drum as well as you but I'm very unpolished. I'd love to hear about how you got involved with other artists for songs. Like your version of "Get Back" with Ludachris, or "Little Know It All" with Iggy Pop.
Thanks man! I can go over those for sure. regarding the drumming : It's just practice AND playing A LOT of live shows (especially to a click - that helped!) I still have a long way to go for my own personal growth as a drummer but wherever you are at, just keep going! Focus on technique and dynamics, start slow and then go fast! Click track is your friend! Play loose with control!
@stevo32drums I'll have to remember these. I'm a chronic overthinker, even when trying to get lost in the rhythm. My biggest issue thus far seems to be separating my arm and leg sync. Very hard to do some of the more complex beats.
Hi stevo, I hope you remember when you were playing a show with sum 41, it was GO CHUCK YOURSELF live ( in youtube ) . you guys were playing No Brains song but at the time before Outro of the song, you guys make an improve there . I really love that part, and I was hoping, why dont you guys make a song with that arransement . hopefully you read this, tell story behind of it, and notice NO BRAINS in a GO CHUCK YOURSELF SHOW please LOL
Would you ever be in a band again? I think the world needs you because you are a monster behind the kid. I would love to hear you do the bitter end off chuck because i love how you make the snare sound like a double kick drum

No way he is that talented
.. (trying to get him to prove me wrong)
There's loads more punk than that.
@@greg0ukI think “epic” is the operative word here 👍

I’d love you to talk a bit about drumming and singing at the same time some time. I was always amazed at how you pull it off.
Haha! Well i don't remember doing that TOO often... I can talk about it when I do Fat Lip!
@@stevo32drums yess, and it’s not the easiest groove there either, with all those syncopes, to sing along to.
I love Screaming Bloody Murder, its dark but epic 😝
I remember it sounded really good - I will go over it for sure!
Epic!
At some point sure! Rush could be fun !
Nice one
Awesome man! Play some Circa Survive one
I must admit I don't really know them - I'll check it out!
Hi Stevo can you talk about and maybe perform the song "88"?? I find it super interesting how it mixes punk with one of the heaviest headbangs!! Thank you and much respect from Portugal!!!
Absolutely!
@@stevo32drums Thank you!!!! 😃
It would be very cool to see you play the bands that got you interested in punk rock music.
SBM got me through some tough times 2012 was such a bad year for me. However I think I did see sum 41 that year at the stone pony. And foo fighters at msg. Both shows were so good.
Screaming bloody murder is so underrated... Maybe my second favorite Sum 41 album after Infected.
Bro ripped this so hard! I say you tour with the foo fighters! Steve ghorl?
Thanks man! I'd be happy just to see them live again! Missed them when when they came through Sydney last time!
Fuck yeah man your right in the pocket on this one!
Thanks man! Super fun to play along to that one!
@@stevo32drums im a drummer to i play in a band past year but im also a drummer in my bungalow so I can relate to you! hahaha u still living in australia? I'm from melbourne
Next Level Beast Mode Every Freaking Time
Stevo играет конечно улЁтно !!!
Thanks man!
White Limo is one of my fave Foo Fighters tracks! I would love to see you tackle Metallica’s version of Am I Evil one of these days🤘🏻🔥
Hell yeah - Garage Inc is amazing!
@@stevo32drums I literally would play that on my ipod at my old job when I was in high school, as a bassist that album shaped my playing, now I’m dabbling in other instruments without hesitation🤘🏻🔥
I always wondered why Blood In My Eyes was never released as a single when it got a music video and even a grammy nomination
I believe it was because the label stopped caring
Hopefully we'll see 'In Too Deep' soon. I'm expecting nothing less than Stevo in his speedos, don't let me down! 😛
I will definitely do In Too Deep! Most likely in full regalia !
@@stevo32drumscan't wait to see that playthrough. Lego Rock Band had this song reminds me how musicians beat the octopus.
Hi stevo, I hope you remember when you were playing a show with sum 41, it was GO CHUCK YOURSELF live ( in youtube )
.
you guys were playing No Brains song but at the time before Outro of the song, you guys make an improve there
.
I really love that part, and I was hoping, why dont you guys make a song with that arransement
.
hopefully you read this, tell story behind of it, and notice NO BRAINS in a GO CHUCK YOURSELF SHOW
please LOL
Bloody is my favorite Sum album as a whole!🤘
Would you ever be in a band again? I think the world needs you because you are a monster behind the kid.
I would love to hear you do the bitter end off chuck because i love how you make the snare sound like a double kick drum
Love to see you do one of the songs Frank was on
Maybe eventually but I will probably go through all the old stuff first.. then when we run out of those - sure!
Are you playing On the Backs Of Angels in another video ?
I have tried getting into DT ... I just can't do it ... Sorry!
Hi Steve O. Can you please take us on a video tour of your gear lockers and all your rad iconic drums sets? Thanks :)
I'll do a studio tour soon ! But I don't own any of those old kits anymore
Still waiting to the video for the clip of Screaming Bloody Murder song to be released ! Filmed in LA but never got released ! I was there !
Will do that eventually!
would be lovely to have some info about the drum recording sessions from SBM !
Sure! I can try to remember as much as I can
Will you do a video on that performance that you guys did with Tommy Lee and rob halford. Probably one of my favorite Sum41 performances
I will for sure! One of the best things we got to do!
