Eddie Van Halen only met Pantera counterpart "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott a few weeks before he was shot dead on stage with his band Damageplan on Dec. 8, 2004. But Van Halen’s touching personal tribute, in burying one of his famed guitars with Abbott, demonstrates how close a relationship they’d already built - and suggests how much closer they would have become. On the day of the funeral, Dec. 14, Van Halen arrived with an instrument - but it wasn’t a new one, it was the original one featured on the back of Van Halen II, dating from 1979. He told Haney, “An original should have an original.” But he couldn’t bring himself to view Dime’s body, explaining, “I can’t go in there… I want to remember him like he was that night I met him.” So Haney delivered the gift. Holding up the guitar, complete with rusted strings, Haney told her late lover, “See, baby? You didn’t get a replica - you got the one!” She kissed his forehead as she placed it in his casket. ROCK IN PEACE DIMEBAG & EVH.

Pantera is one of those all time great metal bands. Their influence was massive in the metal world. Dimebag will remain an influential metal guitarist for many years to come, even after his passing, his influence is still felt. I feel like Lamb of God was carrying the great southern metal band torch for a while after Pantera disbanded. You have to see Pantera's live performance of Domination. It's in black and white and should be easy to find. And I will always remember Beavis and Butt-Head reacting to Pantera's "This Love" video. It was a big insight to Beavis's mental state, and it will be hilarious to me forever. It was Beavis and Butt-Head that introduced me to Pantera. And if anyone has played the original Doom and Doom II in the 90s, many songs from the soundtrack were "borrowed" from Pantera. There's some useless information for the day. Lol. @@ryansalmons5279 that's pretty cool, I didn't know that. And I thought I knew everything about Dimebag. But it doesn't surprise me, dimebag was a huge influence to everyone around him. OMG, you are marriage material! lol Seriously, very good ear to be able to separate all sections out...because they each play a vital role and in Pantera being a 3 piece (Guitar, Bass, Drums) its really important that those foundations are solid and Rex and Vinnie were super tight, so once Dime solo'd the vibe didn't drop off but carried on. \m/
Damn, researching this band is gonna break your heart. RIP the Abbott brothers. If you're going all the way down the rabbit hole I recommend one of the singer's other bands, Down. They never blew up like Pantera but I consider their debut NOLA to be one of the best albums ever recorded.

You could ask every metal band that came after Pantera and you will find that they are all influenced by them. I saw them 5 times back in the day. And the fact that Dimebag was killed still brings tears to my eyes to this day.
Dear Aileen, Metal went through a period of stagnation in the early 1990s, there were no major releases and everything was very repetitive, until two phenomena (in my opinion) emerged, Pantera and Machine Head. I live in São Paulo, Brazil and here Pantera played two sold out shows. I was there, and it was even difficult to breathe because there were three thousand people squeezing and shaking non-stop. It was crazy, but at the same time unforgettable because it was Pantera's greatest moment! It's really cool to see you listening to Pantera and other iconic bands in history, like Iron Maiden. There are a multitude of bands I would love to see you reviewing. I really like your videos. Greetings from Brazil!

You're a true metalhead, whether you realize it or not, though at this point i think it's fair to say you do know. Want to know how i know though? A consistent trend i've noticed in all of your metal reactions is that when you're talking about the music either in the intro or during pauses your heart rate always goes up, signifying actual excitement and not just fake excitement to pander to your audience, but without fail once you're actually listening to the music no matter how heavy the song is your heart rate always goes down quite a bit signifying that you're relaxing, which means contrary to what most non mental heads think, the music is actually relaxing to you on a physiological level, which is a clear trait of a true metal head. Side note, i've suggested it before but i really want to see you react to into the fire by asking Alexandria, i genuinely believe you will fall in love with that song so i'm not going to keep suggesting it but i do really hope even if this doesn't get many likes that you will react to that soon as i firmly believe that song is something you will enjoy very deeply due to very good musicianship, powerful lyrics and extremely good vocals both clean and harsh. Either way though, thanks for all the content, i struggle with both serious physical and also emotional pain from some traumatic events in my past and watching your content is one of the few things i look forward to in the day, so keep up the awesome work and i look forward to your next reaction, best wishes to you and yours.

Omg you just listen to the man who created the heaviest rifts in metal history RIP Dime miss you men you gave us power I was in high school going in my metal and emo days and those pop in every once in a while.
Seen them back in the 90s. This goes hard live 🤘
Highly recommend "I'm Broken". Also a personal favorite is "Immortally Insane". Both epic Pantera tracks imo.
"Walk on home, boy." is one the best suggestions in the history of metal.
This song has been my ring tone for the past 30+ years. I never get tired of it. 🤘
Ive seen, and partied with Pantera a few times. Dime signed my arm and I went and had it tattoo'd on. Dime and Vinnie were the real deal. They treated everyone with respect and love. Raise a Blacktooth Grin to the Abbott Bros! RIP
