I had kind of a perfect experience with this song. I saw Slipknot a few years ago at an outdoor rain show. Was pouring down, concert delayed, first band was cancelled. But the rain stopped for a bit for Slipknot to come on and play their set. When they played Psychosocial, it started pouring down again right when the chorus hit "and the rain will kill us all," while a bunch of us were in the circle pits in the mud. Killer show.
I used to take the bus to and from work. The stop was about a mile from my job. I would play this song and walk in time with the beat. I was never late.
I listen to heavier stuff than Slipknot, but Iowa, man that album just hits different. It might not have the most brutal gutturals or anything like that, but its just so fucking heavy in the vibe it gives off.
Seeing people hear such amazing songs for the first time is such a sweet experience to me, it's like seeing the night sky in the middle of nowhere for the first time when you are raised in a big city. Great reaction.
"Pulse of the maggots" is a must hear. "Killpop" is also an interesting newer one that I love, it's a bit slower but very eerie. "Solway Firth" is a fucking banger. There are videos too except for POTM.
Slipknot- Disasterpiece (live from 2001) the version from the "Disasterpieces" DVD one of the best live performances from them. I know alot of ppl would prefer the album version but when it comes to live representation... thats def one of their best! 🤘🤘🤘
I'll add "Sic/eyeless" live from download 2009 are a tie. So many go for "spit it out", but those vocals atbthe start of the show reign supreme from that show. In my opinion.
@@dirtyroo5562 As the 2009 download can be i guess better in some things, the 2002 disasterpieces version is by far their best concert, much more energy, the sound is way heavier and corey vocals and joey drumming were more powerful by a lot.
I remember when Lars was sick and had to go to the hospital during one of Metallica's concerts and Slipknot open for them and Joey sat in on drums for them after they did their whole set. He's an amazing drummer RIP❤
check out their "spit it out" live version from London 2002. You will absolutely love it. Its regarded as one of the best live versions of their songs. Corey is such a great frontman and his stage presence is unmatched!
2 seconds into the intro, a flick of the eyebrow and the 'kid in a candy shop' grin.... I do believe Miss Aileen may have taken a shine to the 'knot 🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻 Edit: for older tracks, might I suggest Spit It Out (live at Download 2009), Disasterpiece (London 2002) and my personal favourite; Purity. Thank you, and may everyone have a great weekend 🤜🏻🤛🏻
One of my favorite songs from Slipknot has always been Pulse of the Maggots. Definitely recommend checking that out soon. It's an anthem for the fanbase! Got to hear it live back in 2016!
Slipknot has been apart of my life since 1998. Covering their songs as a teen in peoples back yards to going to see them live as and adult to this day shows why they are still my favorite band of all time!
Both the lyrics and their character as a whole for what they display speaks volume for reality and the ridiculous society we live in. They speak truth and i love it. Like the American rammstein.
Is it their best song from a musical standpoint? No. But for me this is one that inspires me to go kick down those doors. And that's why I love it! Great reaction!
You should listen to these five songs, Slipknot- Duality Slipknot- Wait and bleed Slipknot- I am hated Ice nine kills- Welcome to Horrorwood Ice nine kills- A rash decision All have such deep meaning. Hope you found this helpful.
I see it as an anti-war song. "I did my time and I want out." The character is referring that he did his required time, either in Iraq, or in the military as a whole and wants out. "Go drill your deserts, go fill your graves" Pretty self explanatory. "Then fill your mouth with all the money you will save." While on deployment, troops make a lot more than back in the states. It's still not a lot, but compared to state-side, it's a small fortune. "I'm done! It has begun, I'm not the only one." The character is at his breaking point, he's fed up with the system as a whole. However, his psyche has been corrupted by what he has seen and done. There are others just like him. The chorus of the song refers to the overall corruption and death of a generation as a result of this war. "Fake anti-fascist lie." The lie based off of the poor intelligence that caused us to invade in the first place. "I've tried to tell you, but your purple hearts are giving out." The part about the purple hearts seems to have more than one meaning. The purple heart is a medal that the U.S. military members receive for being wounded in combat. Purple heart could also mean a literal heart that is in poor health. "Can't stop the killing idea. If it's hunting season. Is this what you want?" Now the character is out of the combat zone, back state-side, but all he has is a messed up psyche. Once the "kill switch" has been turned on, it doesn't turned off. All he has is pent up stress, homicidal and suicidal tendencies with a society that does not care or even blames him as part of the problem. Hence the whole term "Psychosocial."
Not a native speaker here and I'm far from knowing slipknot a lot. Either did I dig more into these lyrics but I always got it like someone who did his time in jail and may get out now, but is still corrupted and even more fixated to his behaviour than before? Never took that link and maybe I should read some translated lyrics now :D
I have been listening to Slipknot since about 2004. I love them they are my one of my all-time favorite bands. Now I just recently found you on here and I am enjoying your reactions to listening to them and seeing someone else having the joy of hearing them for the first time.
If you havent already, Spit It Out live at Download 09 is a must, in my opinion that show set a new precedence for the metal genre, all 9 original members firing on all cylinders, what i would give to be at that show, the crowd was 88,000+ strong too. Absolutely mind blowing!
Slipknot and their fans have always seemed to me like a family who share all these big emotions and the band gives the fans a way to work through them while also doing so themselves. Many bands say that they are this and that but no matter how big Slipknot get, they seem genuine.
In regards to your opening comment My take on the masks with slipknot is the judging a book by the cover. You’re spot on with the theatrics scaring people away, more of the “omg satanic” rather than the message. All genres of metal have significant messages people should consider and listen to, not just hear. Nailed it chicka
One of the best moments of all slipknot live concert is at the download in 2009, for the "spit it out" part I recommend checking it out anyway, it's insane
Corey is an amazing singer. A lot of people were made when they got softer sounding after their second album “Iowa”. Yes over all their songs after it were not as heavy “sonically” but the lyrics to me are just as heavy. Their last 2 albums are my favorites after Iowa.
One of my personal favorites. And yes 2 members have died but Joey the drummer had already left the band before. Jay is the drummer that toon his place. And another member left(the one with the nose) and was replaced. Checkout some Mushroomhead
Been loving your reactions to both Tool and Slipknot Aileen. I love seeing you discover this fantastic music keep up the great work! I don't know if it has been said here yet or not but one thing to keep your eye on as a new fan of Slipknot is that they change their masks with every album cycle. Some subtly, some more drastically. Now as far as other Knot songs to check out HIGHLY recommend Solway Firth. Rock on!
I think you nailed it with the persona change after putting the masks on. So many people see it as a cheap gimmick. They're literally able to transform and probably tap into something they never could bare faced. The Great Big Mouth ✊🏽.
Wait and bleed, SIC, Surfacing, Left Behind, Before i forget is some good songs! :) Great reaction and you got a lovely smile! Keep it up! Oh and first time here!
Looking forward to this very much, I'm going to laugh and love it. Slipknot fan from way back. Also, may I make a request while I remember?! Have you done Reflection by Tool yet? It's a very special one, a bit different, but one of their masterpieces and so very sonically pleasing and beautiful. Thanking you
Hey Aileen, Recently subscribed to your channel and going through your content I absolutely love your reactions to my favorite songs from Tool,Korn, Slipknot etc…This is one of my favorites from Corey and crew. Love how you talked about wanting this to be your personal theme song, that’s exactly how I felt when I first heard this, just makes you want to move! Great reaction, you get it and understand what you’re listening to!🖤
I know I’m a year late but this still hurts my soul seeing this is the Last MV and Album Paul and Joey did together 😭😭. RIP both of you beautiful souls and thanks for the memories 🤘. Great reaction Alien 🫶🏻🤘
I work for Live Nation in Albuquerque and I have gotten to see these guys three times in my short time with the company. You really need to try to get to one of the concerts.
I wasn't feeling very good, but after watching your reaction I felt better. 😄 So thank you, Aileen. I hope you react to more Slipknot, maybe ''Before I Forget'', ''Left Behind'', or ''Sulfur''.
slip knot is such an awesome and time tested band .. so many great songs!!!! have you ever heard fear factory.. i feel like you would enjoy them too since you seem to really enjoy metal
I have to say... I love your journey... very similar to mine as to falling in love with them later than seemingly everyone else. I can't wait for you to listen to NERO FORTE!!!!!
well, you can pretty much pick any Slipknot song and it will be good For more "different" stuff I recommend "The Nameless", and for more drums "The Blister Exists" is a must. Older songs like "Eyeless", "[SIC]" and "Disasterpiece" are for sure some that you will love a lot Glad you're into my two favorite bands now, Slipknot and Tool
you've mentioned a couple times about Corey Taylor and Slipknot being his "alter ego" ... another instance of the "snuff" side of Corey is 'From Can To Can't'. If you watch the 19 minute version showing them in the studio actually making the recordings (which ends with the final version of the song), you really get a great sense of how kind hearted, genuine, polite and respectful this man is. Totally blew me away at his character. On this song, I like to think of the writing style as the Metallica algorithm. The riffs and hooks are short, memorable and catchy. The difference here is with Joey on the drums, he can lay down a nasty fucking greasy groove that kicks you in the ass! RIP Joey and Paul.
Still looking for the OG song “Wait And Bleed” from them. Absolutely a classic in Slipknot history
Yes! But Not Live!
All songs, should be heard "as produced", first.
The one with the stop motion animation Wait & Bleed 💪🏽
first album front to back is beautiful, but this is a must.
First time hearing it on the radio back in 2000 I became obsessed
YES!!!! Wait and Bleed is one of, if not, their best song.
God Id have just jizzed immediately from too much awesome.
That sounds amazing!
“Dig your own grave, think of all the money you’ll save” Great line
“Go dig your graves, then fill your mouth with all the money you will save”
I used to take the bus to and from work. The stop was about a mile from my job. I would play this song and walk in time with the beat. I was never late.
Love it when someone can just smile listening to this music.
Anything from the Iowa album is necessary. One of the most brutal albums ever, it still holds its own today🤘🏻
That album is what got me into them 🤘 Left Behind 💯🔥
I listen to heavier stuff than Slipknot, but Iowa, man that album just hits different. It might not have the most brutal gutturals or anything like that, but its just so fucking heavy in the vibe it gives off.
Tbh I would not say slipknot it would be korn
Slipknot - Sulfur. Good drive and catchy chorus. One of their best.
The drums and double peddle are awesome on that song.👍
I love how her heart rate went up after Corey did the smooth singing🤣🤣
Seeing people hear such amazing songs for the first time is such a sweet experience to me, it's like seeing the night sky in the middle of nowhere for the first time when you are raised in a big city. Great reaction.
The constant smile on your face while listening was infectious. So much fun 🤟
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi aileen try reacting to WAIT AND BLEED there first release with corey 1
"Pulse of the maggots" is a must hear. "Killpop" is also an interesting newer one that I love, it's a bit slower but very eerie. "Solway Firth" is a fucking banger. There are videos too except for POTM.
heretic anthem and spit it out (must be live) are also a must hear songs
I adore Killpop. What a great song!
killpop and nero forte are probably contenders for my favourite.
The drummer in this is Joey. Best drummer the world had ever seen in my opinion. R.I.P.
Slipknot- Disasterpiece (live from 2001) the version from the "Disasterpieces" DVD one of the best live performances from them. I know alot of ppl would prefer the album version but when it comes to live representation... thats def one of their best! 🤘🤘🤘
Nah I second this one Fs, the live is a sick experience
That whole dvd show was insane. Only barely outdone by the 2009 download show but 85k people definitely played a major role in that.
I'll add "Sic/eyeless" live from download 2009 are a tie. So many go for "spit it out", but those vocals atbthe start of the show reign supreme from that show.
In my opinion.
thumbs up for reaction to Disasterpiece
@@dirtyroo5562 As the 2009 download can be i guess better in some things, the 2002 disasterpieces version is by far their best concert, much more energy, the sound is way heavier and corey vocals and joey drumming were more powerful by a lot.

I remember when Lars was sick and had to go to the hospital during one of Metallica's concerts and Slipknot open for them and Joey sat in on drums for them after they did their whole set. He's an amazing drummer RIP❤
I remember being up early Af to watch FNMTV to see this debut. I’d had AHIP and this downloaded for months before. S/O limewire
check out their "spit it out" live version from London 2002. You will absolutely love it. Its regarded as one of the best live versions of their songs. Corey is such a great frontman and his stage presence is unmatched!

One of their best things.
These guys know how to groove it hard Joey and Paul RIP. Love for Slipknot.
One of my favorite songs from Slipknot has always been Pulse of the Maggots. Definitely recommend checking that out soon. It's an anthem for the fanbase! Got to hear it live back in 2016!
This is a really good song. I think you'll like it 🤘
Sitting here and waiting.... It´s a killer song... Lot´s of love from Denmark :)
You can really get that great Cory Taylor voice in this sound. Dude can truly sing!
Slipknot has been apart of my life since 1998. Covering their songs as a teen in peoples back yards to going to see them live as and adult to this day shows why they are still my favorite band of all time!
Before I forget is another Slipknot banger, very powerful and fast paced
Yeeessss thank-you can't wait my favourite all-time slipknot song banging track 😍 👌 🙌 😋 🔥
Now it's time to give this girl what she has been waiting for! "Solway Firth". Epic Slipknot madness..
Now it´s time to "Nero Forte"!! Definitly the best song from the last album and one of their bests from them
Both the lyrics and their character as a whole for what they display speaks volume for reality and the ridiculous society we live in. They speak truth and i love it. Like the American rammstein.
Is it their best song from a musical standpoint? No. But for me this is one that inspires me to go kick down those doors. And that's why I love it! Great reaction!
Watching this live, and him coming out with the marching snare drum absolutely crushed!!!!
You should listen to these five songs,
Slipknot- Duality
Slipknot- Wait and bleed
Slipknot- I am hated
Ice nine kills- Welcome to Horrorwood
Ice nine kills- A rash decision
All have such deep meaning. Hope you found this helpful.
This is one of my favorite songs by Slipknot. The solo is dope and I love the transitions between melodic and heavy. SenPAIIIII!!
awesome reaction, love your smile all the way through ❤

Do you copy and paste that to all these reaction videos of this song? Seems like I've seen this a few times. Good theory though, it lines up.

Hopefully get a “Psychosocial Baby” reaction later on!
I've listened to so many mashups of this song i forgot what the original sounded like.
You have the cutest reactions but also hardcore lol. loving the passion for the genre especially for this band. You're killing it!

SONG #3 BY STONE SOUR ACOUSTIC VERSION PLEASE! Great Corey Taylor performance!!
Slipknot - People=shit (live) from 12yrs ago. An epic live performance with Joey
I was also going to suggest rammstein - deutschland. A german band that make great videos and epic music

Yes! The Blister Exists

After the first couple albums he really started using his voice in another way that I definitely felt was more vulnerable. Atleast for me.
We're definitely getting into heavier territory lol. Check "before i forget" or "wait and bleed" (the album version, not the radio one)
If you want a little info on there mask go to House of Mask on UA-cam he has every Slipknot mask and can give you a little background on them .

DEFINITELY gotta check out "All Out Life" video was released on Halloween night a few years back. SO Good!
spit it out - download 2009 by them demonstrates insane crowd control and on top of that, its one of their best songs out there
