ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it's true. So what's motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn't an easy time but I won't let fear dictate my life. I didn't think 'why me', there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it's not always smooth sailing. It's true when you hear, 'Life is short', the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It's so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

Calling a dimebag solo naughty just made my day.
RIP Dimebag

Very raunchy style! That dimebag there i love his solo work all the screaming his guitar work does amazing

Rebecca: what was that?
Me: that's called a Dimebag
Diamond. He was still Diamond Darrel at the time.
Majority of people haven't even heard his name let alone music. It's a damn shame
@@chrismiddleton4959 you are absolutely correct. As far as I'm concerned he is right with Hendrix, and EVH as far as amazing players that essentially reinvented the instrument.
@@williamnelson2332 without a doubt Pantera doesn't still get the credit they deserve.
That "overtone" part is an effect pedal called the "Whammy Pedal" which is an octavizer that is adjusted by a treadle. Tom Morrello uses a similar effect in Rage Against the Machine but to different effect.
Dimebag is one of the most legendary guitarist ever R.I.P Dime
Ya mine too. Dimebag Darrell, (if only he was alive) Marty Friedman, Jason Becker ( god know what he would have done if he was fit and fine), Vito Bratta, John Petrucci are some of my top favourites.

@@saltysteel3996 Jeff Loomis is great however, I think Tosin Abasi would give him a run for his money. Either way, both guitarists are legendary. 👍
Dimebag was like the lovechild of Tony Iommi and Van Halen, for me his sound is what most metal bands emulate today. RIP
@@saltysteel3996 did you forget about Nick Johnston, Tosin Abasi, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jeff Beck. Jeff Loomis is a really amazing guitarist, but you've left out a bunch. I mean Paul Gilbert, Guthrie Govan, John Perucci, Tom Morello. Joe Satriani.

@@rva the overtones you were speaking of in the end of the song are called pinch harmonics. Some are made by brushing the string a certain way with the plucking thumb after the pick hits hit, others made on the fret side. Any squeal sound like that is a harmonic. Dime bag had some of, if not the best harmonic techniques.
Listen to a song by them called "Shattered" the vocals are insane!
When she said “Louder” I knew she got it
I watch your cemetery gates reaction about once a month lol.
stay a while and listen i guess ?
Phil Anselmo was a specimen back then. Vocally, athletically; the real f'ing deal!
That whole damn band were incredible. They invented a whole new sound and aesthetic from the ashes of thrash and glam metal - and made it stick at a time when only grunge bands made it. Hard as you like, but with rhythm and groove a hip hop DJ would be proud of and genuine medoly beneath the hard edge.
The Abbott brothers, virtuoso sons of a country musician, added more than their fair share to the magic that made Pantera special.
And yes! "Louder" is the right reaction... as the saying goes "When I listen to Pantera, my neighbours do too!" 😁🤣👍
Phil can still sing pretty well just not high.
@@RobbieFitzgerald I was really pleased to see him looking and sounding so well with Down this year on their NOLA 25 live stream. But yeah, I can't see him touching the high stuff from Cowboys From Hell. Lifestyle aside, I'm sure giving it the full every night on tour did enough to trash his vocal chords.
Phil looks and sounds 100 times better now than he has in recent years
Phil sounded great when he opened for Slayer last year.
The drugs only had a temporary effect. People do bounce back and quite impressively too.

@@rva Oh, I remember the jaw drop moment in Cemetary Gates...
@@rva Phil Anselmo had amazing range back in the day. It's unfortunately has taken its toll on him and his voice is only a shadow of it's former self. Watch some of his recent interviews. His speaking voice is very low and hoarse. You almost need to speed up the video to 1.25 or even 1.5 for it to sound like a normal conversation. His most recent videos, his voice does seem better because he's cleaned up.

You are LITRALLY listening to 4 of the most talented human beings.... Ever! Seeing them live on this tour, Cowboys from Hell, yeah, and having the lead singer, Phil, almost head butt me into a blackout because I had a meet and greet pass and told him he burned it F$#&ing down, he grabbed my hand and smash...one of my greatest concert moments ever ..then all 4 of them signed my ticket stub and I went home with a nott on my dome and a smile on my face... Yes, it's all Phil, no voice overs!
"He means business, doesn't he?"
Yes. Yes he does.
As a couple other commenters noted, the squeals Dime gets are called pinch harmonics. They're accomplished by holding the pick really close to the end, like "choking up" on it, and letting a teensy part of your finger touch the string simultaneously with the pick. That creates a node way up there near the end of the string (as opposed to a natural harmonic, done by hitting a natural node point closer to the center of the string, say, at the 12th, 7th, or 5th fret). It really helps to have distortion to make them sound out, but it's also possible to do it on a nylon string classical, with your bare thumb and nail.
Dimebag had his own technique for this. Check out his guitar clinic video if you haven't already
I think he’s using a whammy pitch shifter it was one of the pedals he used a lot
Dime did use pinch harmonics sometimes, but his signature squeal is not. It was his own variation of a divebomb. He would dump the whammy bar then tap a harmonic (usually 5th fret on G) the harmonic mixed with distortion would start a squeal. He then would realese the whammy bar and push it the opposite way. As the string tension went back up, so would the pitch of the squeal.
@@RMZrider12 yea, the short riffs like the ending with the small bends in them are pinch where his long squeals are created up on the neck. He was very talented. Doing those types of squeals allows the addition of harmonics when a certain pattern of alternate picking doesnt permit it like when you "up pick" its much harder to pinch harmonic if possible at all.

Phil is one of the greatest metal vocalists of all time. His range on Cowboys From Hell and Power Metal were incredible. He lost some of his high end over time but hes still a beast.
Fun fact, Eddie Van Halen buried dime bag Darryl, the Pantera guitarist, with Eddie's FIRST black and white striped guitar.
Close, it was the yellow and black one seen on the VHII album back cover. The story goes that dime wanted Eddie to make him one like it but he never got around to it. When EVH arrived at the funeral he presented the actual VHII guitar to the family. When asked if it was a copy, Eddie reportedly said " dime was an original. An original deserves an original "
That story still makes my vision blurry every time I think about it or hear it.
