So, he's probably the best friend John has, but not quite one of the smartest guys in the movie. The other three were like, "Nope, not even stickin' my nose in that shit. Have a nice day."

So one thing that a lot of people miss on their first watch of this movie: Wick didn't "miss" when he was firing at Iosef in the Red Circle. He had multiple chances to kill him. Coulda done it instead of executing his bodyguard. Coulda killed him while he was running past the glass (do you really think a professional hitman like him is going to miss because of some glass, much less 3 times, much less each shot being AHEAD of him?) Coulda just sniped him at the warehouse. Coulda just offed him after killing his last guard, but shot him in the gut instead. This was PERSONAL. Iosef killed everything that was good in John's life. Interesting little piece of trivia. Keanu Reeves came up with the reload move himself and said, "It just seem like it would look cool." Several different firearms experts have examined the technique and declared it superior to several standard reload techniques and have started to teach it to other people. BTW, the actor playing Viggo's head of security is Swiss stuntman turned action movie actor Daniel Bernhardt. In addition to this film, he has appeared in several of the Bloodsport movies, several movies playing bad guys against Chuck Norris (who apparently thinks Bernhardt would win in a real fight against him), and as an agent in the Matrix movies (which also starred Keanu Reeves... the two are good friends). Adrienne Palicki, the actress who played Perkins, is 6' tall (you mentioned her height). She works mostly in television and usually in comedy. Keanu Reeves did the majority of his stunts in the movie. He had a stunt crew to do stunts that he and the director (who used to be his stuntman) deemed a seasoned stuntperson would get hurt. Keanu also never categorized what he did as stunts. He said he did “action” scenes cause he’s not a stuntman. 4:36 always thought it was weird that his wife didn’t plan on them delivering dog food when they delivered the dog knowing he wouldn’t have any food. 7:19 not many reactors noticed that the puppy dragged itself over to him. 25:29 Keanu learned this fight scene the day they shot it and he had 103 degree fever. He did the whole fight scene except for the fall off the balcony. They had a stunt double do it and used the party lights as a way to switch them. 45:14 he directed the blade to his previous injury to disarm Viggo. It was that or risk Viggo hitting him in a new spot causing more damage.

A solid gold 24K coin at today's value in U.S. Dollars is $2,609.40. Willam Defoe's character cares for John so when he heard that Vigo wanted John dead for 2 million, he had to take offer to protect him from inside. Keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer.
24:30 ~ You were right, as someone in the comment section already pointed out, custom brake, also known as compensator. Suppressor, silencer. =Þ Hollywood always makes it seem like they're easy to get. There's probably one person online who made/makes certain brakes for specific guns and they're not cheap. The HK USP Matches came with one (optional) which Angelina Jolie dual wields in _Tomb Raider_ (2001). I've wanted one for at least one of my handguns but are cost prohibitive. My biggest rifles come with them though. :) Marcus was a good neutral friend to say the least. How he missed that shot on purpose to alert John know someone (Perkins) was in his room was clever. I love your kitty. Only bad part is after the program is done it's hard to get back up unless the feline allows it.
I reckon they went godfather mode & dragged the dog across the floor & put it next to him. Considering the blood trail is vertical & the dog is horizontal
The coins are a social real currency as we think of it. Watch close when Willem DeFoe takes the second shot to save John, the film is reversed, and the rifle becomes left-handed. Lance Riddick is the actor who checked John into the hotel. He passed away after filming the 4th movie. John rescues a pittie at the end of the movie, it's actually Keanu's dog. I rescued a pittie and named him Charon in memory of Lance Riddick. Willem DeFoe couldn't shoot Perkins in the hotel, remember the rules.
In that last fight, John guided the knife into a wound he already had so he could get control of it. Almost no one picks that up on a first viewing. I certainly didn't. But this movie is written and directed by a stunt man, so it operates in a whole different language than most movies. Enjoy the journey!
18:05 -- The coins are valued AROUND 2000 to 2500 each.. 12 bodies.. 12 coins.. -- BUT, the coins also mean something MORE in the world of John Wick... They are also "favors" or marks of respect.
Keanu Reeves got interested in Kung Fu because of his role in the Matrix. If i understand it correctly. Keanu Reeves has become at least a black belt in Kung Fu since then. In getting prepped for his role in John Wick. Keanu Reeves not only studied how to use firearms ( which shows on the films ), but also jujitsu. Keanu Reeves put in the time and effort to become that good on film. There is even a weapons malfunction (a jam ) in the Night Club fight scene. Where Keanu Reeves clears the malfunction and continues the fight. Which was not in the script. But Keanu Reeves did it so fast, they just kept the film rolling. I don't know if it's true, but that is what i have heard.
I'm pretty sure Jimmy the cop while he's being respectful with his words, he was more than likely covering over the body cam on his chest with his hat when he saw the bodies. 🤣
The pistol is a H&K P30L. The muzzle device is a custom compensator, which is a device designed to reduce and manage recoil for faster follow-up shots by keeping the gun from kicking upwards at the end of the barrel, while simultaneously looking cool as fuck.
A couple of things that I didn't catch until someone pointed it out to me is during the "who you did it to" interaction between Viggo and Iosef, Viggo first squares off with Iosef to make him back up off of the carpet, then gives him (probably cheap) vodka to drink so that when he throws it back up not only does it not get on the carpet, but it hurts more coming back up. Also, when Viggo calls John and John doesn't say anything, if you read the subtext, you can tell Viggo's begging for his son's life. He knows it and John knows it. Also, in regards to Jimmy, it's not really clear if he's on the take or not, but if John is that infamous in the underworld, the cops are gonna know who he is and Jimmy clearly knows who he is and what he does, so, of course, Jimmy's not gonna try to arrest him because what's one beat cop gonna do against the Baba Yaga?
The attachment on John Wick's gun is a compensator, and it was actually custom made for this movie. Afterwords, HK (the company that makes the gun used by John Wick) started making a replica compensator for the P30L.
John like most highly trained close quarter combat specialist prefer to use the Mozambique drill it involves to shots to chest and one to head to minimize the risk of passing an enemy that can shot or injure you as you pass. This is very effective to eliminate a target and move on focused on next targets without dividing your attention or focus on downed targets. You always shoot till target is dead, if they have body armor, on drugs or just have a will of steel it may take more. In Red Circle club John shot one on dance floor in left chest (heart) the guy kept moving, you see John moves barrel up to where a vest would not cover then shot 3 more times guy down.
2 great follow ups to this movie are the "John Wick tactical training" and "John Wick kill count" videos. Thank you for a fun reaction. I thought that this was a good mix of commentary to go with the watch along.
An ancient order called Assa-sins used to accept only gold as payment (weight in gold) for their services such as espionage, murder, or counterintelligence. It adds to the believability of the movie since there is precedence in real history. Some even argue that this is the origin of the Beggars Guild in China's past as well as the Ninja of Japan. If I may add a personal note, people who do work in military, intelligence and kill or capture squads must keep their feelings firewalled so they don't get in the way of what must be done.
17:20 -- In a world where you can clean up your own messes... And the police KNOW there isn't going to be a problem... I can tell you that DOES in fact happen...
The reason Jimmy the cop is scared of John is because he saw what he did in the bar with a pencil. Also @23:25 . The stab to the mouth was just to keep him quiet while he bleeds out from the stab to the Aorta. It takes 15 seconds to lose consciousness. 60 to bleed out. John teaches us this in the next film.
It’s a compensator on the end of the pistol. It helps with muzzle “flip” or the recoil of the pistol. Helps the shooter get back on target after each shot. It’s more useful on more powerful calibers like 10mm/ .40cal.
"This guy is a navy seal" "This guy is black ops" When you see John in the shower, one of his tattoos say "Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat" which means "fortune favors the bold" and is a motto of the US marine corps. Also, if you look closely, at the beginning of the movie John wears his watch like a normal person, but when the action is about to start he wears it with the sphere on the inner side of his wrist. This is done by spec ops operatives to prevent being detected because light is being reflected by their watch, and also to keep track of time, because synchronization with allied units is key in those kind of missions.
John's Gun is the HK P30L with a custom recoil compensator for accuracy. Another cool feature of this gun is it's unique LEM trigger system that reduces the reset after the initial pull.
Nope. There are 10s of millions of people who wake up earlier and work harder, and are smarter and more capable...yet are still poor or worse. Talent and skill mean almost nothing. It's all about the lottery of what social class you're born to, and the crap-shoot of daily happenstance that brings you inexplicable success from a logically poor choice. The only other factor, is being willing to ruin or even end other people's lives like a parasite. That's what "success" is.
Since it was 1 coin per body and gold is about $2,7000 per ounce and if we assume the coins are 1 oz I'd say that jobwas upwards of $40,000 since there was 13 bodies.
12 bodies actually at 2650 oz gold. $32,400. The coins represent far more than the monetary value. They are a single coin per purchase way of getting access to all the goods and services in their underground world. It is also a descrete identifyer of 'members', as without a coin, you do not belong.
This movie was made in 2014 and gold was $1400. When I was a kid I remember gold being $300. These coins were used for a long time when prices were even lower. The coins have no monetary value. They are symbols of respect; something that cash could never bring in that world.
@@homerj806 - The coins DO have monetary value... solid gold. Untraceable, untaxable value which is the entire point of the underworld operating certain business aspects with their own coinage. But all of these folks have to eat, and grocery stores don't take Krugerrands. So it's kind of like casino chips... the house can cash them out when needed.
You should check out the videos of him doing tactical shooting drills. It's pretty awesome. Even seasoned range guys think he's pretty good. Also, if you ever see him flick the pistol to eject the magazine, that was a move that Keanu Reeves actually created, which more quickly ejects the magazine, allowing for faster reloads.
In the scene just before the crew assaults John's house - the tattoo across his shoulder blades reads Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat. It's a Latin phrase that roughly translates to "Fortune Favors the Bold."
When Jimmy saw the body he removed his hat to cover his body cam, the Director said in the World of John Wick the cops and the Continental Hotel have an understanding so thats why the cops know about John Wick
A nice detail is that Keanu Reeves invented the magazine flip or faster reloading which is now used by professionals all over the world. Will Smith also uses it in the movie, Suicide Squad.
The reason he stabbed himself at the end was because, at the time, it was fairly even on the struggle with the knife by pulling it to himself in the same spot he had already been stabbed. It wasn't as bad as taking another wound. Also, he was able to game the knife in that exchange and disarm his opponent at the same time
And the gold coins are probably Krugerrands. I don't know about the time of this movie. Current Krugerrand value is 2700.00 per 1 oz coin. I think John gave the clean up crew 12 coins.
Francis (WWE Kevin Nash) said he lost 27 kg (translated 60 lbs). He informed John that there were 27 guards inside.

A solid gold 24K coin at today's value in U.S. Dollars is $2,609.40. Willam Defoe's character cares for John so when he heard that Vigo wanted John dead for 2 million, he had to take offer to protect him from inside. Keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer.
Great quote. :)
"Run, run, run". Nope, don't run from John Wick, you'll just die tired.
Nice one. 😵💫🥱
How in the world did you cut before he got a new dog! That's one of the best parts.
Seems like you're here for the movie, not the reaction.
The Most meaningful "Oh." in cinema history. 🖖😎👌
Hard to believe John Wick can do all this at 60 years old. Much Respect to all his training.
24:30 ~ You were right, as someone in the comment section already pointed out, custom brake, also known as compensator. Suppressor, silencer. =Þ
Hollywood always makes it seem like they're easy to get. :)
Marcus was a good neutral friend to say the least. How he missed that shot on purpose to alert John know someone (Perkins) was in his room was clever.
I love your kitty. Only bad part is after the program is done it's hard to get back up unless the feline allows it.
9:00 "They're surrounded by guys, too." Almost nobody notices that. Well done!
FYI, John Wick's body count was 77 in this movie.
Didn't need words to know someone dying why I loved this movie, assassin not normally Infantry, but John
wick a gropo.
he's not on attack, he's on defense, your mind about to be blown.
In that last fight, John guided the knife into a wound he already had so he could get control of it. Almost no one picks that up on a first viewing. I certainly didn't. But this movie is written and directed by a stunt man, so it operates in a whole different language than most movies. Enjoy the journey!
6:42 "call the cops" 🤣
When Jimmy the cop sees the bodies. He takes of his hat and covers his bodycam.
No, by taking his hat off he's technically out of uniform. Makes the encounter sort of unofficial.
Watching the fight scenes, in the theater, I kept saying, in my head, " He's 50. Keanu Reeves is 50." I was amazed at the stunt work in these movies.
I'm pretty sure Jimmy the cop while he's being respectful with his words, he was more than likely covering over the body cam on his chest with his hat when he saw the bodies. 🤣
This movie does a great job showing what happens when a man has nothing to lose.
The actor who portrayed the specialized waste disposal boss, Charlie, is the same actor who portrayed Sully in the movie Commando(1985).
Holy shit, I knew he seemed familiar. Never knew that one.👍
I loved this react, yall should see Keanu doin the real life weapon swaps and training runs on the range, hes really John Wick lmao
@@Overlord0011 John only works in the underworld. He doesn't hurt anyone outside of it, so the cops have no motivation to get involved.
Welcome to the John Wick family enjoy the journey it get better and better
So we've heard!! thank you and welcome to the channel!
@ no problem if you’re a gun lover, this is the franchise for you
The attachment on John Wick's gun is a compensator, and it was actually custom made for this movie. Afterwords, HK (the company that makes the gun used by John Wick) started making a replica compensator for the P30L.
Great reaction keep it up definitely should watch all 4 they are action packed to the core.
thank you we play to finish all this month!
He walked to the dead dog as you can see his bloody footprints.
2 great follow ups to this movie are the "John Wick tactical training" and "John Wick kill count" videos. Thank you for a fun reaction. I thought that this was a good mix of commentary to go with the watch along.
You can watch Keanu practicing with all the pistol and machine guns and practicing ju jitsu
This is my favorite reaction channel
An ancient order called Assa-sins used to accept only gold as payment (weight in gold) for their services such as espionage, murder, or counterintelligence. It adds to the believability of the movie since there is precedence in real history. Some even argue that this is the origin of the Beggars Guild in China's past as well as the Ninja of Japan. If I may add a personal note, people who do work in military, intelligence and kill or capture squads must keep their feelings firewalled so they don't get in the way of what must be done.
Hashashins.
John wick is like the nicest yet most terrifying person to meet 😮
17:20 -- In a world where you can clean up your own messes... And the police KNOW there isn't going to be a problem... I can tell you that DOES in fact happen...
The reason Jimmy the cop is scared of John is because he saw what he did in the bar with a pencil. Also @23:25 . The stab to the mouth was just to keep him quiet while he bleeds out from the stab to the Aorta. It takes 15 seconds to lose consciousness. 60 to bleed out. John teaches us this in the next film.
Love how everyone compliments John's house.
It’s a compensator on the end of the pistol. It helps with muzzle “flip” or the recoil of the pistol. Helps the shooter get back on target after each shot.
It’s more useful on more powerful calibers like 10mm/ .40cal.
Great reaction! I ❤ John Wick 1, and have watched it countless times.
I feel old. I saw this twice in the theater a decade ago...
Great reaction…. First time watching you two. Keep up the good work
"This guy is a navy seal" "This guy is black ops"
When you see John in the shower, one of his tattoos say "Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat" which means "fortune favors the bold" and is a motto of the US marine corps.
Great reaction and such a gorgeous kitty cat. I have 2 little black panthers (kitty cats, brother and sister)
John's Gun is the HK P30L with a custom recoil compensator for accuracy. Another cool feature of this gun is it's unique LEM trigger system that reduces the reset after the initial pull.
You didn't finish the movie! there is an end credit that ties into the beginning and the start of the next movie
If you guys enjoyed John Wick, I recommend reacting to the Raid 1 and 2. Its an Indonesian film but it has the John Wick feel to it. Super good!
See, if you woke up at 6am you might have a nice house like that!
@@DoremiFasolatido1979 Thats some commie sounding gobbledegook right there.
That shotgun John was using. I'd recognize it anywhere. KelTec KSG 12 gauge. Short in size, but high in capacity. Perfect for close quarter scuffles.
But, the little FBI agent from Point Break done grown up, you should run now.
"Old iPhone, that's a brick" That's from 2014 and it was smaller than it is now in literally every way :D
Viggo gave Mayhem a gun with a single bullet. That's why he laughs.
great reaction you will love the other 3 movies...
35:18 --- learn to use the cuffs as a weapon.. That way it makes you MORE dangerous when someone cuffs you.
The Lord to everybody saying be seeing you John comes from Constantine. Where Keanu Reeves controls the underworld
Lore not lord. Lol
Since it was 1 coin per body and gold is about $2,7000 per ounce and if we assume the coins are 1 oz I'd say that jobwas upwards of $40,000 since there was 13 bodies.
I love the math
So it's kind of like casino chips... the house can cash them out when needed.
reservation for 12 equals 12 bodies
You should check out the videos of him doing tactical shooting drills. It's pretty awesome. Even seasoned range guys think he's pretty good. Also, if you ever see him flick the pistol to eject the magazine, that was a move that Keanu Reeves actually created, which more quickly ejects the magazine, allowing for faster reloads.
it cost him 12 gold coins for the clean up. he made a "dinner reservation for 12"
In the scene just before the crew assaults John's house - the tattoo across his shoulder blades reads Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat. It's a Latin phrase that roughly translates to "Fortune Favors the Bold."
Keanu did the Red circle gun kill spree scene with a 100 degree fever and it doesn’t even look like he did. 😮
3 Man team to take on any army, John Wick (2014), The Equalizer (2021) & Nobody (2021) & for some extra mussel & a little comedy Violent Night (2022)
The Equalizer was released in 2014 a month or so before John Wick
Only 1/2 way through and appreciating your observations about martial arts and reloads. Subscribing 😊
When Jimmy saw the body he removed his hat to cover his body cam, the Director said in the World of John Wick the cops and the Continental Hotel have an understanding so thats why the cops know about John Wick
Keanu Reeves does all his own stunts and training. He's the real deal.
This reaction is the equivalent to the "Last War: Survival" mobile game ads. 😄
Good luck learning Spanish!! 😁💪... Saludos desde Madrid 🇪🇸 🙋♀️😉
The gun has a compensator on the end. Kind of like a counter balance weight. Helps with stability and aiming.
Francis had the right idea.
You two have three more john wicks to do also!!
