Jeff Lynne is a genius. Great performer and tune smith and great in the studio and a master tech. Remastered all of G. Harrison's catalog.
And made Roy Orbison cry!
That was an awesome live version. Very very true to the studio version. I'm thinking Kel would lose her mind over All Over The World

loved Electric Light Orchestra since I was 14 wayyyyyyyy back in the 70's collected every album and dvd.
Saw them in Philly, July, 2019. Dhani Harrison opened for them. Best concert I've ever been to ( and I've seen Garth Brooks, who is awesome. They topped it. Even topped Clapton). Just a great show.
I came here specifically for the ELO reactions and have stayed to watch a few others.

Hands down one of my favorite versions of this song ever. As a kid in the 1970's I did not appreciate ELO as much as I should. I loved the music, but did not really understand just how great they were. But then again, it was the 1970's and our choice of amazing bands was ridiculously spoiled. It was not until my son bought me the album for my 50th birthday that I really heard it the way I should hear it. Funny that my 16 year old son woke me up to ELO...I adore the back up singer in this gig. They did an outstanding version on Telephone Line in this same gig, you guys should check out. Electric Cellos are awesome....

I saw them in 79. SO GOOD. Opera and Rock. The song Stepping out is a favorite of mine. It spoke to me a long time ago and gave me courage.
The girl in the video is Jeffs girlfriend at the time. Her name is Rosie Vela and I had the biggest crush on her. She is just awesome!

Everything about this is best of the best. The sound of the mix is really warm and pleasing, Jeff Lynne’s voice is plaintive and achingly simple, and his arrangements feel so economic yet effective. I love this sound.

Kel clearly loves ELO and symphonic rock. John Miles 'Music' has always been one of my goto songs from the 70's. Just seen his 2012 Night of the Proms live version - fantastic. I'm sure Kel would like it!

Can we just do ALL the ELO catalog for Kel? Her reactions to them are perfect; these songs are so well crafted, and so whimsical and yet deeply layered. I’m sure Jeff Lynne would love to know his stuff still gets this kind of response. When you get a chance play for her his (and Tom Petty, and Danni Harrison, and Prince) performance of “While my guitar gently weeps” at the 2004 Rock & Roll hall of fame induction performance for George Harrison. Prince steals the show but Lynne’s voice is the main anchor of it.
A little out of left field this one! "Music" John Miles - Live Proms 2001. Heard at 5am one morning when my radio alarm woke me with tail end of this song. I rang the station right away to find out who and what the song was. A sleepy voice answered, I'll go and check, sound of slippers down a hallway and he comes back with a song that has been one of my favourites ever since. It has everything you guys would love, superb song, orchestra, choir. Magic

This performance was recorded in May of 2001 at the CBS Television Studios in Los Angeles. There were two concerts filmed in two consecutive nights. I was lucky to have been at both performances (I was about 3 rows center right). It was a dream come true.

Reminds me of a single person that roamed the earth that carried much love within and wanted to give that love to another lover and in the end never found that special person but thruout this persons life expressed and shined that love to the open…had so much love and passion and didn’t know who to really give it too💕

FYI the drummer and bass player are brothers they grew up in Warren, Michigan. The drummer now plays with Ringo Starr's All-stars. Matt the bass player is currently on tour as Elton John!
I like the live versions to see what the musicians are doing and how the song was made, but for me, the studio version of any song is the best version. None the less, you can't go wrong with ELO!

The babe with the long hair at Jeff's side is Rosie Vela. You guys should definitely check out her legendary cult album, ZAZU. It's beautiful, especially the songs "Interlude" and "Magic Smile." The main guys from Steely Dan collaborated with her on the tracks but she wrote and sang them all.

Oh, and yes, the flange Is Awesome on the original studio recording, I truly believe that the live version kicks ass and it's far superior. My opinion. Which is correct. Hahaha!

the ELO spaceship is used in many of the official videos, this video is from I believe 'the zoom tour' if you watch the beginning of the dvd you get to see 'the space ship' land and open to reveal the band on the stage.
there is an early live recording of a full concert for 'out of the blue' that is amazing, recorded way way back when they were at their peak.

I had almost every one of their albums back in high school and college. Rich, you really need to get Kel the "Out Of The Blue" album so she can listen to it from start to finish. I recorded it on cassette, since I had an "auto-reverse" cassette player...I would listen to it all night long while I slept. I had headphones and would set them on my night stand so I could hear it playing. When the first Boston album hit the stands in 1976...I did the same thing with it.

I saw both electric cellos and the beautiful women playing them. Jeff sure can pick em. His backup singer Rosie was with him for a long time. She's very pretty herself. I have owned this Zoom dvd for along time and It's one of my favorites.

The live versions of their songs are great on Live at Wembley Stadium and/or Live in Hyde Park 2014 are the concerts that really showcase Jeff and the band. The video and audio for both are outstanding. Either of these two performances probably capture the tone and mood Rich is searching for.

Funny how strings fit just right. "The Diary of Horace Wimp" is another one men/boys can associate with & the story means get out & start your life from new or old. Another thing, showing love is beautiful, to find soul mate is special.
