      @@bane8305 go to the gym in the mornings, work day time, after work find a hobby like skate at the park (not hangout) for 2 hours then go home and eat a big meal then chill out for an hour then go to bed. Fill your days with stuff that when it gets to bedtime you just want to go to bed, not that you're still awake and want a drink. If you have friends who drink casually, just cut them out. It's hard at first but honestly you realise how much of their life they waste. They might not be bad people but that environment isn't good. God speed homie.

      @@bane8305 Everyone's path to breaking their addiction is different. I was a black out drunk for 10+ years, and what helped me tremendously was refusing to believe alcohol was anything other than poison. Addiction gives people a fucked up focal point, and that thing is all you see, and you can't see you're in it. Once you can remove yourself from it, it is the single best feeling anything in life could bring you...1,000x better than any other high I've ever had... honestly. Best of luck friend.

      Hell yeah! I’ve been an addict since I was 16 or 17. I never met a substance I didn’t love. But heroin brought me to my knees. Nasty business. I’m 39 now. Today will be 26 days clean and sober for the first time in my adult life. As much as I love to hear stories of people in long term sobriety, i love connecting with other people who are also living 24 at a time. Like me. I’m still really touch and go at times but have established a great support system and recovery program. I can relate to the feeling of seeing the light in my eyes, and feeling like I’m meeting myself for the first time. Your comment brightened my morning and gave me hope that my tomorrows are brighter than my yesterdays. I hope you have a good day. Thanks!

My buddy Justin loved Reynolds so much that he took his first shoe to get an autograph. When the team got there, you would have thought we just scratched a million-dollar lotto ticket because that's how excited we were. That excitement was short lived. Reynolds was one of the first ones to walk up to the shop, so my buddy asked him if it was cool if they got a picture quick before he went inside. Reynolds was not happy, replying to Justin "you can wait with the rest of the fucking kids". I'll never forget my friends face lmao I think he threw out the shoe honestly. i got a twisted tea commercial... wtf. lol. Im very grateful to have role models like andrew i admired as a kid and can still respect as an adult. I was almost 4 years sober, and started drinking after i was forcefully removed from my home during a national emergency. its been about a month since my last drink, im in a safer place now, and thanks for listening. skate and create.

    Andrew is so right about just eating something. Apparently L-glutamine also helps with cravings even for food but for maintaining sobriety I often just eat to get past the cravings. Had roasted peanuts last night and it worked like a charm.

    Wild af.
    I didn't drink or do anything until I was about 30. Grew up watching these guys my whole life and skating every day and night. thankfully... Never really felt a need or desire to abuse anything.
    I have never taken it as far as they have but it's incredible to see these giants I never thought would survive still around.

    That's good that he realized he wasn't a good drunk. I personally know some people that are great when they're drunk. Super fun and loving. BUT then there are also those bad ones who want to complain about everything and ruin vibes. I think the tough part is separating from those people because sometimes we feel the need to help them and stick around.

    • @dustyoldhat
      @dustyoldhat 7 місяців тому +1

      Idk how old you are but the people who act "super fun and loving" when they are drunk when they're young (teens and 20s) are almost always the ones who develop serious problems later. It's a psychological thing, it's been studied. Don't really understand it. But I can tell you looking back from Andrew's age (I'm the same age) it's 100% true

    Sometime encouraging that’s happening in the scene it it seems more and more skateboarders are promoting sobriety, healthy eating, working out, etc. It makes you better but can also get you a few more years on your board when you’re nearing those thirties.
    It’s a huge change compared to 15 years ago when it felt like you had to go as hard as possible - alcohol, smoking, etc.

    I still like the occasional coldie after a long hard day or week, but definitely a lot more conscious about my intake. Like to take days off, and when I do drink its just to relax, never to “get drunk”. It’s a slippery slope though, the pull is real, gotta keep it in check. Good to have role models like Andrew backing sobriety fully.

    3 years sober for me. I truly believe alcohol is directly from the devil - it has an immense power of deluding you into thinking you're "living" life and everything is great when in reality you are slowly killing your body and tarnishing your soul. Quitting it is the best decision I've ever made. Massive respect to Andrew for 20 years!
