Skateboarding and actually taking care of my body is the ultimate tool in sobriety. Sometimes I catch myself welling up with tears while I skate. Its scary being sober I'm 16 days in and the withdrawals are real. Very Scary. But One Day At A Time And Well Be Blessed 🙌 Stay safe Stay Clean Stay Alive
I've never been a drinker myself and I'll never understand how people can deal with the nasty hangovers, throwing your guts up, and sleeping in your bathroom consistently to always resort back to picking up the bottle. Truly is a poison
I love the fact that he's heing healthy but the truth is, in his 40's, he better tone it down on the tricks. Father time is no joke. Hope he gets to skate forever.
im 25 ... been partyin hard since i was 15, like heavy partyin.... drinking and druggin almost everyday. i used to be able to do it..... if i drink 1 night, the next 2 days ill be feeling like shit and sleepin.
That’s always been part of the of the appeal tho and his look, to sell shit. cool>safety has always been the business for street skating. I can’t remember a time in my life where I looked at a cover and saw someone doing stairs with a helmet. Everyone does it.
@@Masterlocster69 yeah thats true, he is now sponsored for all kind of meal companies as well. You don’t get it tho. People who skate or do any extreme sports don’t view getting hurt like that the same way you do. They’re on another level mentally and don’t feel pain the same way.
I'll just randomly click on this video from time to time. It's inspirational to see Neen turn things around with his health and view on things but still enjoy boarding. Thanks vice for digging into Neen to share with us.
Yeah man, one of the first things I thought of too. Him and Braydon acting like complete clowns("dude I can't even think right now I'm so fucking wasted") Dude he's such a different person sober (as most people are) and his skating is so much more on point now. Proof...2016 KOTR. Would love to see Dustin Dollin try to take something from this.
@@BigTuskk Damn dude that sucks. You should start evaluating what you want in life that makes you happy and go after it. Don't let drugs give you a false sense of positivity, at the end of the day drugs will bring you nowhere but the streets.
I remember watching this guy growing up with my homies. Him and Dustin Rollin I'd say influenced us. There was nothing like getting fucked up and landing dope tricks. But I'm 25 now, he is right that your body changes. It's impactful to see an the heel flip legend come out and open up about this. For all the young skaters out there, and even my age. Listen to this man!! He's got a good point. I fell on my wrists after skating drunk. I didn't stretch and now my wrists are damaged for life. I do stretching more now to help rehabilitate that. So hopefully this story helps. Good luck boys!!!
AC R alpha is the wrong term.... hes an awesome roll model.... guna show this my grandson as his dad is a fucking waster.... and will see you can be productive
Where did he state hes an alpha? Also, you shouldn't measure someone's character by how successful they might be in prison. Would you respect him more if he were the one bending people over in prison? Is that what alpha is? You seem confused in.
i've definitely ascribed to the "here for a good time, not a long time" philosophy, but this beautiful man might just succeed in convincing me otherwise
Lex that adage only works if you actually die young, which is a 50/50 chance, you should try and be happy and healthy and share with others in the meantime
I don’t think people fully realize the nature of dying do to an unhealthy life style. You don’t just live and feel good until you die over night at age 45; there’s years and years of low quality life and suffering before some kind of disease kills you.
I very often find that people who abuse alcohol or weed earlier in life end up being health freaks later on. It's always in the extremes with these people.
Theyre health becomes a priority thats all. Alot of people dont care at all about what they eat and are not aware of what negative and toxic thoughts do to the body.
ive seen the opposite too, all the goody-two-shoes that bagged everyone out for drinking back in high school....are only just finding out about drugs now...in there 20's-30's. A lot of them are fucked junkies now, coming back to ask the people they once looked down on for drugs. It's funny how the tables turn.
I’ve been feeling so sick eating all these junk food and I don’t workout anymore but after this video man he’s inspiring I will stop doing the things I do and change and do things the better way for me I love skateboarding !

This is literally my life right now. Skated all my life and never took care of myself. Now I’m doing taking care of myself and I’m 32 and am skating better than ever. I never thought I’d step on a board again. It’s been a year now.
Never heard of the guy but he seems like a super chill dude. He has realistic and wise thoughts about people and their behavior. props for changing his life around.
What he doesn't explain is that he's clearly a man of excess and in order to banish his fendish ways he has to immerse himself into something else that not only gies his character some value but also some marketability. He's your classic case of someone who doesn't feel alive if he's being 'normal' and theres nothing negative in that at all, more power to him. Legend.
When this got posted I was still in my downspiral in alcohol and drug addiction living in Barcelona and drinking daily. I Remember when I moved home to Sweden to get clean I got alot of motivation seeing this video again and again, just because he seems to live such a rad life even though he's sober. It took some years after coming home before I managed to get clean, but today I'm 20 months, 14 days 100% sober. And my life quality has increased massively in every possible way. Thank you Neen Williams, one of the best role models I never met.
Dude he’s not lying , I used to skate in my teens 13-18 joined the army , all the running and working long hours , training and beating your body up eventually catches up to you. I’m not even that old , I’ve torn a hamstring, Injure day lower back, torn my shoulder twice, now I have a shoulder imbalance I’m rated 60 disabled. Take care of your bodies bros shits hard haha
Cry it out, if you have to, but don't ignore the reasons why you feel that way. Come to terms with why drinking isn't a healthy lifestyle choice and try to move on from it. It will be hard, you will probably lose friends, and you will likely be a much better person, for yourself, when you reach the other side ( being ok with being sober and loving the person you are, naturally). Best of luck to you, though, you can do it!
Don Kapsalon i go out and skate with my dude's - yes it is not the same for me like back in the days but Iam stand on my board and do tricks they possible today ! Skate or die

every pro skaters absolute love and passion is skating, it always blows my mind how skating improves their lives because they do whatever it takes just to keep skating for the rest of their lives- like walk when they said youd be paralyzed, get in a better home situation, or fucking get sober man this is so great
hevquip "only," no. but it takes a significant experience to change ones habits, and when someone who's already open to drugs takes enough shrooms, there you have it. so who knows, really, but it's by no means far-fetched!

I remember watching Neen in high school and being like “man I don’t want to be like that” lol. Definitely have partied a bit in my time but love seeing the change him and folks are bringing to the world in being a leader for a sober and healthy lifestyle!
We all grow old, but not all of us grow up. Awesome to hear of you choosing to prioritise your health. It is worth whatever the sacrifices are, to begin to look after your body. You only ever get one body after all. Power on brother (and to anyone reading this).
So sick to see him living healthy, he’s one of my favourite skaters so it’s pretty awesome that he’s bettering himself so that he can skate for a lot longer.
Isn't it funny -- that same vicious cycle where you're hurting for 2-4 days after partying and you do all this stuff while waiting to feel better... then as soon as you, it's like "yup, I feel good now, TIME TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!" I dumped the booze & smokes a couple years back, and while I don't preach on it since I did it for so long and know how it goes, on so many levels, it was just time for me. I like that I experienced all of that, I like that I can look back and say "yeah, I did that, and those were some crazy time," but I'm also extremely grateful to have made it out and know my true self better than I ever have. This was a cool little spot and Neen is killer skater, much respect.
I met neen 7 years ago at Supra event and he said first one to bust out an inward heel can I have my signature brigada glasses and I thru my board down in front of him not rolling and did a standing inward heel. Homie gave me his glasses off his face an chilled an talked to us for like 30 minute straight. Coolest pro skater I’ve ever met.
I have been skating for a long time have been out of it because of work but I remember this video from a few years ago and I am using this as inspiration for my life
The older you get you feel the repercussions of your drinking and messing around. Yup. I went to rehab at 40 and I've been sober for a year. Everyone eventually sees the fork in the road and has to make a decision.

“I don’t regret it at all because I feel like it’s good that I’ve gone through it and I worked my way out of it to be the person that I am today.” 🔥🔥🔥
this resonated with me
I’d regret it, so much time wasted to partying when you could of been advancing in life not wasting time.
It's funny how in order to be good at landing tricks you have to be REALLY good at falling.
Somewhat, but one does not necessitate the other.
If you know how to fall you're not afraid to fail
Knowing how to fall is so important both mentally and physically
Tuck and roll
its true because if you fall ten times and roll your ankle twice, then you cant be a skateboarder.
Its scary being sober
I'm 16 days in and the withdrawals are real. Very Scary. But One Day At A Time And Well Be Blessed 🙌
Stay safe Stay Clean Stay Alive
how is it going now?
Stay safe
Amen
Hope you're still going strong, it's tough getting through it, but when there is a will, anything is possible
Hope sobriety is treating you well! And if you fell off you can always get back on again :) be well, internet stranger.

I've never been a drinker myself and I'll never understand how people can deal with the nasty hangovers, throwing your guts up, and sleeping in your bathroom consistently to always resort back to picking up the bottle. Truly is a poison
But you don't always have hangovers. lol
I love the fact that he's heing healthy but the truth is, in his 40's, he better tone it down on the tricks. Father time is no joke. Hope he gets to skate forever.

Everything is a good reason to get sober...
Exactly!

Age is the best reason. When we're young we can handle the abuse. When we're old it's debilitating.
I agree. My energy levels go way down if I drink everyday. I always feel better after just a few days of not drinking.
im 25 ... been partyin hard since i was 15, like heavy partyin.... drinking and druggin almost everyday. i used to be able to do it..... if i drink 1 night, the next 2 days ill be feeling like shit and sleepin.

his dreadlocks are his helmet
That’s always been part of the of the appeal tho and his look, to sell shit. cool>safety has always been the business for street skating. I can’t remember a time in my life where I looked at a cover and saw someone doing stairs with a helmet. Everyone does it.

The shit he eats is crazy expensive.... nobody can't eat like without being loaded, or sponsored like him. You don’t get it tho. People who skate or do any extreme sports don’t view getting hurt like that the same way you do. They’re on another level mentally and don’t feel pain the same way.

Mad respect for him. Finally someone who’s not promoting ruining themselves with alcohol and staying up late
I'll just randomly click on this video from time to time. It's inspirational to see Neen turn things around with his health and view on things but still enjoy boarding. Thanks vice for digging into Neen to share with us.
Came a longgggg way from that ride channel interview where he was completely plastered lol
I was thinking the exact same thing!
Yep. When I saw that interview I was like this guy is a total clown. I'm glad he is sober and has a great attitude!
first thing i thought of when i saw he got sober, this is a much better look for him
Yeah man, one of the first things I thought of too. Him and Braydon acting like complete clowns("dude I can't even think right now I'm so fucking wasted") Dude he's such a different person sober (as most people are) and his skating is so much more on point now. Proof...2016 KOTR. Would love to see Dustin Dollin try to take something from this.
Sean Titus... especially after what Ali Boulala went through... you'd think that would've been enough for Dustin Dollin to realize!! Shit's tragic!
Skating to that level takes incredible skill. I'm 45 and still in awe of the ability of high quality skaters

Didn't realize taking care of yourself made you a freak.
Literally me. Becoming a health freak after years of doing pretty much anything available. Comes from wanting to reverse the negative effects.

Being sober is super hard and it makes me want to cry. I just ordered some roller skates though hopefully that’ll help me
Emily Liz I hope you enjoy skating! I picked it up a couple years ago and it’s my favorite escape
I hope you're doing fine, 1 month in! 💪💪💪

Gone were the days were I'd skate all day in the summer and I definetly get hurt alot more doing half as much than my bouncy teenage self.
20s are ok. 30s too but 40s you get to hit the nail on that one. I know the feeling.
