I've got 2 of these amps running 4 cabinets. I loved this amp when it came out and I still love this amp. I haven't found anything I like better. They always got shit on just b cuz of the name but I never cared. I still play mine and I'll continue to do so.
I used that amp for 9 years on more than 50 gigs, it's awesome, it blows away almost all the amp modeler you can find today in the industry. It sounds awesome as a power amp for any amp modeler..it`s an underrated amp..it`s a jewel..!!
It's funny to me how most guitars looked down on this Amp in the beginning and finding out now that a lot of guitars are turning away from alot of tubed amps tired of the constant tube bias changes are moving to digital amp modes and are now enjoying this Line 6 model now. And realizing it's more than they thought about it 10 plus years ago
Most of the people that disliked this amp that i know of were people that only plugged into real plexis and played 59 reissue gibson standard's. So pretty much just gear aquiring wanker's that didn't find the tone they are probably still searching for. This should not have been called a spider series amp. This is a real Valve head ,and being so is to my ears a very versatile one at that. In fact all the ones i have heard sounded fine, dare i say great. A piece of line 6 history they should be proud of. And if anyone doesn't like the pre section, well theres thousands of value pre pedals you can run through the bogner power amp. A win win in my book.
My favorite gear is stuff that's a little old, yet was blasted by "critics" at the time. My whole setup (Doomgaze) is 90's Peavey and Line6 HD (two amps, four cabs). The 40 watt is killer for practice, and my favorite local band uses the 40watt live (powering a 4x12 B52 cab) for touring. Don't sleep on Line6.
I just brought a used spider valve mk2 that I need to pickup. I've owned my Warlock since the early 2000's and had a micro version at 1 point. It was hard to adjust from an Ibanez RG270 to the Warlock. I find the wider fret spacing on the B.C.Rich better for really heavy rhythm. The Ibanez RG series and the early wizzard 2 necks and "power" humbuckers are a great combo. Great for tight fast rhythm and solos. I really like the dark pickups of the Jackson Js series too. 🍻 and love what you play!!!!
I have this same head. Also had the volume blast problem until I made a volume box set the level, then run it in and out the back preamp in and preamp out solved the 100w blast
My fiancé bought me a Johnson Millennium 150 Combo Amp for my Bday with the 12 button foot switch for $250! Also a hybrid tube amp. Turns out they were made by the same guy that did DigiTech’s top end stuff back in the day. These older modeling amps do not deserve the 💩 they get and they’re right in that sweet spot as far as pricing goes. I’m willing to bet in 5-10 years your amp is gunna be worth a lot more than 100 bux simply bcuz of the Bogner collab 🔥
I have the v2. Theres octave and harmony parameters in the later iterations. The presets are bad.. but dialing in a sound is super easy , if you have a good cab or IR collection.
@@theophany1770 I think I was on one of the spider valve user forums and they mentioned how strict you needed to follow the recommendations were or you would void the warranty.
I just got the 40 watt 1x12 version for $85 at a pawn shop. I can't say no at that price it's worth a shot.
Came with a V30 speaker so it payed for itself.

Thanks Jake!
Of course!
Very interesting amp, thanks for posting!
I love mine since way back in 2007 along with the cab I bought with it.

Agreed! Sure, some digital stuff isn’t very good. But some of it is excellent!
There will be a day that amp will be worth thousands. Tryst me. It will.
Great information and you rip bro🤘🏻thanks
Saw this head for $198 at a pawnshop, thinking about picking it up.

Change the tap tempo to slow the effects
Yes I got line 6 spider v60
Changing tubes is a nightmare. The manuel recommends a certain brand and it must be biased exactly as specified.
Which manual, the basic user manual or a service manual? I'm looking for a service manual because mine has a non tube related issue

It's all about tweaking the eqs
This is one of those amps people hate on just a period. They don't really have a valid reason too.
I hooked up a helix. Wow. Clarity
