I love my little Spider V 60. I bought it with the wireless G10 and use it in my study as a small practice amp when I just want to sit around and noodle for a bit. I am so happy that Line 6 decided to allow us ver. 1 owners to download the updates instead of needing to buy a new one. That's very customer-centric of them and is much appreciated.
^^^ YES! I too have the 60 and G10 transmitter and am very happy we're able to download the new software.

Those do sound like they are definitely fit for the future of guitar playing I believe. Awesome work here guys
I'd say they still have quite a bit of work to do. But its an improvement, sure.
@@TheRosswise Ahh that is very true man
That explains why the sounds are reminiscent of Dr Who.
My son is just about to do a demo on this amp as well. However it's a pleasure to watch Paul demonstrate anything. He such a gifted musician and makes everything sound great. Great job guys!
Ah its paul, the man who can sell grenades to Gandhi
Gandhi prefers nukes.

Glen actually likes it now with the MKII software, if you use it for what it is, a practice amp.

I own the 30W. Really like it as a starter / practice amp
Man o man Paul that intro was pretty tasty. Nice playing
Even if it’s a product I’m not interested in, if I see Paul doing the demo I still watch.
Awesome playing as always Paul.
Happy Belated Birthday Paul. You are a great player
"a divisive line of guitar amplifiers"... you really know how to please a vendor, Sugarlips.
David Albert it is. It sounds really bad and synthetic. Not falling for this bullshit.
Its hard to know how to describe the Spider range fairly! On the one hand, we know that some of the presets over the years have been really really bad! But on the flip side, they've always had a lot of features, been reasonably priced & the sales figures speak for themselves - over a million sold since it came out, and that's a lot of amps!!
@@andertons that's one fifth of the people living in my home country
@@andertons I applaud the sincerity of your original comment.
@@andertons Its affordable gear for people who like to experiment with sounds. Not everyone can afford Kempers or other high end stuff.
Very informative, I have a Line 6 Spider 60 watt and am still learning to fully use it 😀
Love the tone of the strat through that amp.
It's always good to see Paul. Crazy good player and a Facebook "frand". Cheers man!
I just updated the firmware and it's very cool! Thanks! 🤟🏽
German Bueso Can you show me how to do this on my Spider amp?
mraya60 go to line 6 official website and login, click on "download tab" and download the Line6 updater,
install it and it should recognize your amp and follow the steps (make sure that the MAC/PC option is selected on the back of the amp)
Good Luck!
I've had my Spider V since they came out couple years ago and I have to say that update is really welcome. The sound I am getting out of my amp is a LOT better. Thank you!
That end jam/loop was very much in the vein of Dissidents by Thomas Dolby.
I love my Line 6 Spider Valve MK1. Over 10 years old...still slays
I imagine it does.
Ive owned the Spider V 120 MKII for about two months (the company had fixed my amp MKI and returned it to me with the latest patch). It has improved... Kind of. The crap tonelist has gone and reformed into a guitar tonelist. No crazy gimmick tones. There were tones from Fluff and Ola, and other musicians. A new setting is "Classic and Full Range" didnt know what they did till now; flips between having a tweeter speaker active or not. And the new quick select UI. However, yesterday I have cleaned the presets and started my own because there are still a good set of tones that dont appeal to me (better than before with the "filler" tones with the 1.6 software). Thank you to Line6 for fixing my amp.
Love this amp so much I’m getting one today
What is the best way to mic up an FRFR such as in these combos when you need to incorporate the sound of the second speaker (tweeter)?
Line 6 Spyders have come a long way, baby! I love Paul Hindmarsh! He's by far my favorite company rep.
So these pretty much integrate all of the amplifi series features and more except stereo sound, save for the largest units with 2 main drivers. Cubase software access for recording is a solid bonus. Really attractive package.
I have a spider v 240 and I love it I have been playing for 23+ years and I will tell you it’s a amazing amp and don’t believe all the people who say it’s bad because it’s amazing and I have owned a Marshall jcm2000 tsl and many many other awesome amps even a few peavys and this is my favorite amp I have ever owned if no one know it’s a line 6 they always say it sounds amazing until they find out it’s a line 6 then that try to find something unlimited possibilities next I am going with the helix I always stuck with tube amps but this is definitely the future
Anyone else noticing how good this Paul guy is? I really like his note choices in his leads. Not generic at all.
Good video but it would be nice if you guys could do a full informative session on the total versatility of the Spyder 5 Mk II....gracias banditos!
If Roland or Marshall did a MKII upgrade, they would make you pay for it. Thanks Line 6 for being cool with your customers. Ive had several interactions with the guys at line 6 over they years with various equipment like the Variax, etc. They are a good company.
Does anyone know why the got rid of the 4 channels you store your fave sounds to on the spider IV? I feel like it was purely so you have to buy the fbv
Wow, the Captain’s Tele sounds superb. Ouch, I’ve just seen the price!
When you disable the tweeter for “classic” amp sound, are the backing tracks still using the full range system?
Could you explain the FBV3 pedal more?Colored light variations/meanings,thx
So if this amp is FRFR (FullRange-FlatResponse)...
Could you use it with the Helix in stead of the Line 6 Powercab?
sounds like it, if you can plug in a backing track you can plug in a helix (you'd need some sort of "reverse" splitter if you wanted stereo). Although the original Spyder V amps did this, so you could find yourself a deal
I've got news for you Lee .... Its the middle of winter in the southern hemisphere here in Australia on the Gold Coast. Today was a balmy 24 degrees Celsius and absolutely beautiful
That jam at the beginning is awesome
Play authentic, with the spider v mk2. What do they have for the speaker, and am radio?
That intro man... gets me every time✌🏾
Need help: do the internal speakers turn off when using the direct outs? Can the DO level be attenuated? Is the full range option global, or stored for each voicing?
Steve Brower The speakers don’t turn off but you can turn down the master output on the front of the amp which will turn down the speaker volume and the di will still work. If you use headphone out the speakers will be muted and di will also still work and will allow you to hear yourself through the headphones
As for the DI level, it can be adjusted in the DAW. If you wanted, you could turn up the amp volume for the preset and then turn down the master volume to make up for the higher preset volume. And for full range speakers, it’s for each voicing, not global. Any preset can enable or disable full range and cam be found by looking in the cabinet settings on the amp
I had a 120MKII for 2 weeks then exchanged it for a Spider V 240MKII and wow what a difference between the 120MKII & 240MKII ! I'm very happy with the 240MKII. The 240MKII sounds way better than the 120MKII.
What is that chord voicing at 4:19 ? I see Lee use it all the time and it looks like a minor 11 chord, but it doesn't sound like it. Is he playing 5x553x there? A, G, C, and D?
Two chords. One is A minor 9 5x550x then the Am11
This looks like a great amp, I remember the spider jam. I'd love to see them bring back a major spider jam system. Start including the damn foot switches for the love of all that's holy. Or create included footswitch line of these amps so we don't have to go out buy them individually. (This comment is targeted to Line6, not Andertons)
They sound great!!
GLEEEENNNN! LINE 6 IS AT IT AGAIN!
lol
Getting the spider v mk11 for Christmas the 20 watt can't wait
Are there good tutorials on getting everything you can out of this amp? How do you sing and play guitar with this amp. Easy question/easy answers?
I still own the Line 6 spider valve bogner tube amp and It's unbelievably killer. It's fat, great feel , smooth silky tone . The effects built in aren't all that great, but the clean and gain are really really really good. Like it better than my Marshall dsl 100 watt head.
Will the line 6 spider v mk2 v240 sound the same, but with extra gadgets?
Unfortunately, again and again not mentioned, the production error or thought. I also bought the dongle for my Spider MK" 120W, but it can only be charged when the amplifier is switched on!!! So what do you do after the band exercise, plug the transmitter into the amplifier and then leave the amplifier switched on for a week until next band rehearsal.!!!???LOL - I returned the transmitter and ordered a cheaper alternative from Thomann - makes sense too.
Canadian Clean and Devy Metal - you just gotta love Devin Townsend's dry humour ^^
I recently bought a spider 5 and I saw a video of a spider 4 which had a 90s presets wondering if they are on the spider 5 ad well waiting for Christmas to open mine which is a month away thanks guys good review
Does anyone know of the FBV3 MKII foot switch will work with the Spyder III?
Thanks guys! I've had the Spider V 240HC since it first came out in 2017 and I really dig all the features it has. My only gripe is that it's not tube lol... Also, I did an upgrade and didn't hear any difference in sound when switching from full range/classic mode to speaker mode. I'm running a 4x12 cab with the amp so maybe that's why? Let me know any info you come across in the coming days regarding this issue. Thanks again..!
The 240 HC is more of a preamp, so most likely, you are correct
@@OscarASevilla It's an actual amp with an on board processor etc. It's not a preamp.
Hey guys, are you going to do a video on the Zoom B1 Four?
Did I see a James Bowman preset? as in Jimmy Bowman from Against Me?

I not long got back to playing guitar just a week ago after many years, and because of COVID and being at the highest risk level, I dare not hit my local Guitar Center Store to try out various amps. So, I ordered the Spider V MkII 60W amp. For me, I don't care for all those presets. I'm only interested in a nice warm clean tone and add a little reverb, tremolo and chorus to it when I want. I was amazed at the very nice warm sound you got out of that amp playing your tele. Please, would you mind letting me know what you set on that amp to achieve it? It's the exact sound I want to get out of mine, and so far I've not been able to dial that in. By the way, I'm playing a tele. Thank you so very much. Absolutely loved the video.
What footswitch/controllers are compatible with this amp?
I still think I prefer the HX series, drop a helix combo, and maybe that'll catch my interest
From the cure video they are 120's . youc an tell as the intou jack is nearer the cabinet unlike the gap in the 240watt version where theres a gap.
omg! i've said this since day 1, that they needed to cut the tweeter out of of the straight guitar signal and only use it for effects or drum loops / jam tracks / aux input etc!! i have a spider v60, and it's a great little amp, but the highs can sound artificial or harsh at times. not sure if the (main) speaker choice has been changed or not, but i always wondered if perhaps it didn't have the right dispersion characteristics, i.e. it had a very narrow dispersion in the higher frequencies, and that caused them to leave the tweeter on all the time. not sure. i'm also not sure if opening the amp up and unplugging the tweeter will give me the best sound because I'm not sure if the amp will be sending the full range to the main driver, because i'm not sure how that crossover works. maybe i could just hook up both leads to the main speaker. i'll try a few things and see what i think.
*edit* WHAAT?!?! this is a free update?! holy crap, AND they have a spider remote PC app now for controlling the amp!? this is everything I wanted from the beginning! I've updated my amp, restored defaults to get all the new presets, and downloaded spider remote. this is literally like a completely new amplifier. even without tweaking, these presets are sounding way better than the amp did before. way more natural and warm and present and dynamic and alive. i mean i dialed in some great sounds before, but it did have that studio processed sound, which at times was perfect and really sounded great for some things, but as a general 'amp in the room' as he put it, it was never quite right. this is now completely different and MUCH improved in that regard. brand new amplifier.
On reading your first paragraph, I was beginning to think you weren't sure.
@@Ndlanding yeah because i started to post before they had gotten to that part, and like why have a new "model" if it's literally just software.... But i get it.
@@Artcore103 Sad to see it edited, as now my post makes no sense. But thanks for taking notice!
@@Ndlanding lol i edited it like 5 minutes after i posted it. Thought that's what you meant by the first paragraph.
@@Artcore103 I obviously can't quote directly from memory, but I was referring to the number if times you said "I'm not sure" in that original first paragraph. About 5-6. ;¬)
I would love someone to do an in-depth how-to for the spider v20 amp for us absolute novices.
seen your comment on the video i agree they should use the KISS method KEEP IT SIMPLE
Did anyone ever find a way to change the order of the effect pedals like moving the noise gate to later in the chain?
How do you get the synth lead setting?
I've got the 20 watt one coming tomorrow, really just for noodling at home. I think they sound great for what they are and the price but genuinely think it sounds pretty damn good
If I upgrade the firmware on my spider v mk... Will I get the same sound as the mk2? Or is the speaker different?
If you have a Spider V MK1 and get all the latest software/firmware updates (which includes the new Classic Mode and Presets) then it will sound just like a MK2!
Can we get a link to the preset bundle pack?
Lee Pamaroy was using Line 6 stuff when playing with Steve Hackett. Also Steve Howe switched from his Fender Twin Reverbs to Line 6.
Well, if you switch to any amp from a Deluxe Reverb, it cannot be a baf amp
I believe Lee Pomeroy uses Kemper these days. At least that was what he was using when I saw him with ARW.
Steve Gardiner you are correct. He showed me his rig in Florida a few years ago. Has two of them.
Please someone help!!
I’m ordering the FBV3 foot pedal, and I was wondering if this would solve my problem:
I have a jam man looper I plug into my spider V and when I go to play over it in a different sound, the loop also changes, I’ve tried it with the built in looper as well, will the pedal fix this?
You will love the FBV3. It works great with the Spider V. I’ve had mine for almost a year now and have had no issues. Whatever effect you loop, it plays and doesn’t change when you change effects. Soloing over loops is a blast. Hope this helped
Dreux Schoenbeck awesome! Cheers for the reply really helped a lot!

@@hollywoodactress thank you
So glad I'm not a beginner guitar player there's so much choice nowadays, it's a good thing though at least you can get close to any artist tone you wish for....
Maybe it would be overkill, but could you put a Helix through the effects loop and get the full benefits of each unit? Could the Helix be used as the foot switch controller for the amp, or would that take up too many resources away from the Helix?
I hope I get responses from this from either the Line 6 people or the Andertons people.
Hi! Neither do the Spider Vs feature FX loops, nor can the Helix communicate with the Amps.
Besides that:
Why would you want to do that? The Helix and an FRFR Cab by Laney blows these Amps away in every single aspect. There is no benefit in the Spider V Line, compared to the Helix. Except the drums, which you can get better and for free everywhere in the Internet. Okay, and if you really want to go wireless, you would have to pay 58 Euros for the Wireless receiver. But you'd still pay less, than with the Spider Vs considering the power rating and the overall way way better sounds, options and accessibility.
Can anybody tell me how remove knobs on front panel?
OMFG can't wait for Glenn to watch this!!
How do the presets and features compare to the presets in Garage Band?
My first amp was a spider 2, it holds a special place in my heart.
i still have mine.

Is Paul trying to go for a Hollywood Hogan vibe with the beard? Looks groovy
I didn't like the Helix and the Spider 5 combination personally.
I really like the Helix, but prefer to put it through a valve amp. The Spider 5 is ok, I used it primarily for the amp modelling and preferred it with analogue pedals. Helix + Spider (artificial + artificial) felt a bit artificial. That has as much to do with response and feel than anything.
Backstory: When I first started in the 90s, i was hooked up with an old Korg multi-effects pedal, used it to death and it sounded great through the Marshall JCM I invested in. But always used muli-effects and valve combination since.
Moved to Vietnam recently and my pedal needed an update, so I bought the Helix. Loved the Helix! Couldn't bring my Marshall stack here, so based off how much I liked the Helix, I bought a spider 5. I really didn't like the combination so I recently invested in a Marshall combi.
Pros about the Spider 5: I own a bar in Hanoi, the Spider 5 has been ridiculously useful. The 240 is ridiculously light and portable for such a big amp. It's great for idiot musicians who turn up without equipment. All the inputs and the clean sound means you can run anything through them. Personally, I prefer my effects on the floor and not in the amp.
How do you run your pedals through the amp???
Here for the memes. And Paul of course, always a pleasure to see him.
Holy crap, a free update? Nice.
Edit: psa
The looper only works with the most expensive foot controller. Its PARTIALLY COMPATIBLE WITH THE OTHER FOOT CONTROLLERS LIKE THE FB EXPRESS. IT SHOULD SAY IT IN THE BOX.
Other than that I'm happy with it
Pato Parra the older foot switch without the colored lights works. The fbv shortboard mk2. I was able to get a used one for about 100 usd!
I think I’m buying it
sir iam confuse... i want to buy amp between $350 - $550.. which amp should i buy... please suggest me one some...
Starting off get the Spider V MkII 240HC head first because its built-in stereo speakers sounds good as is (easily controllable with your phone or computer). As you get better then buy its FBV3 Pro Foot Controller. When you're ready for playing live gigs buy its matching MkII 320-watt 4x12" Slant Extension Cabinet!

If Line 6 are giving the upgrade to MkII online to Spider V owners would it not be more affordable to buy the original Spider V at the offer price that they’re currently on and just download the upgrade ?
I believe that the real difference between MKII and MKI is the physical body.
ya boi what is physically different ?
From what I am looking at; the whole dody has been tweaked. The knobs and face look different than the one thats next to me.
Even though i'm impressed. I still think it sound synthetic sometimes, but it might just be me
